Amazing place to have a real good Old Fashioned! We loved the view and the food was great! Sprague took care of us wonderfully! Jeff the manager is great as well. Brie told us about sitting at the bar. And we loved it. Great view from our table! You'll love it. Give it a try when you are in Portland!

We were in Portland to celebrate my husband’s birthday and I booked this restaurant because of the view and good reviews. At the time of reservation, I asked to be seated at a window table if possible given the special occasion and this was our first visit to Portland. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that we got a table at the corner next to the window with panoramic view. The food was amazing and service was tentative. We had crab cakes for starter and split the wagyu rib eye steak (the photo shows my half) and the Caesar salad. We got a complimentary chocolate fondant for dessert with a cute candle on the side. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

The view is amazing!!! The service was also amazing, the food is what i call fancy American, it’s very good, you get what you pay for here! We had a group of 10 people and everyone had a pleasant time! I definitely choose this as an event or special occasion type of place, or if you want to create moments, not a place to hang out or just go, unless you go to the bar and just for drinks this those are expensive as well! While there I had the chicken and my hubby had the steak and both were on point!

Tables all reserved, but the lounge had tables with a view, and the same menu as the restaurant! Service was great. Happy staff, who really care. Oysters are tiny with wonderful taste. Beef ribs and scallops were both Yum. We ordered 2 more sides of green beans with lemon sauce as they stole the show! Creme Brulee was just as I had hoped.

Went with some friends for social hour. Great drink and food specials. The food was okay but not amazing. The views, however, were breathtaking. I hear dinner is good there. Will have to try it!

The food was amazing. Small potions but its typically what you expect with this fancy of a restaurant. You're really paying for the view. It was breath taking. My husband and I cam on out honeymoon and it was worth it. Super romantic and just look at that view. In some seating you can see Mt Hood from the windows, or you can see the city. Still over all it was an amazing experience and the food was great.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was absolutely incredible. That has been some of the best service all around in every department. The food was absolutely delicious, the calamari appetizer was amazing and addictive. First timer here and will definitely be back. Thank you for a great experience.

The food is good, but the drinks are the uncontested draw. Sure there's a phenomenal view, but the cocktails outshine all that. I heard so many customers pleading for window seats; some were polite about it, others were not so friendly. But the staff took it all in stride, and never let their professionalism falter. If you want to impress someone who's visiting from out of town, while keeping them safe from a grittier, more authentic Portland experience, this is the place to go.

This isn't cheap. If you want to watch people talk business with business like lingo this is the place. Pop in a reservation for a birthday or anniversary and dish out them money for a babysitter. Everything is great. Two people can rack up a 200$ easy, but of it's business it's a write off. You have to say "business" at least three times to make it a write off for the IRS.

Incredible views of the city and a great selection of food and drinks for Happy Hour with reasonable prices. We loved our cocktails and finger food and the service staff was great too. Overall, a very enjoyable and pleasant experience. Parking in the building is expensive but they validate for 2 hours. We paid $8 after validation since we stayed for 3 hours. The place tends to get busy around 5 and Fridays tend to be very busy. Would definitely visit again and highly recommend to anyone visiting Portland. You won't regret the experience. They also have a dining room and reservations are highly encouraged for that. The bar room seating is first come first serve from my experience. The entrance is via the main lobby and you can take the elevator to the 30th floor (which is marked with Portland City Grill on the elevator keypad). Keep in mind that the elevators are locked until their opening time which is 4pm.

Experience and Ambiance: 5 Stars Service and Staff: 5 Stars Food: 3 Stars (for the price) Great spot and location. The view is excellent, the restaurant is very well setup, and it is a very pleasant place to dine. The food is good, it's just not as good as I would expect for the price range. You are mainly paying for the experience here. I have been on 4 occasions now and we enjoyed ourselves each time. Definitely recommend it as a fun place to dine and solid happy hour as well. Just don't expect the food to be quite as good as you might expect for the price. I'd recommend getting Fish over steak. I've had their NY Strip and Fillet. Both are good but the Steelhead and Salmon we've had is bit better. The lamb is also good but a little overpriced for what you're getting. If you want a window seat/table there is no way to reserve one. You need to show up and go on the waiting list. What we did last time we show up an hour early for our reservation, drank at the bar for happy our and had appetizers, then when our table was ready moved over for dinner. If you decide to try this, don't be surprised if you see a single person occupying the 4-6 person booths next to the window in the bar. Not sure why they allow it but I guess it is free seating. They'd make a fair bit more money though if they didn't allow single happy hour guests to hog the biggest seats/tables.

We went as a treat for my birthday, the had a birthday card for me, and the cutest little cake and a candle for me! The hostess was charming and our server Ellie was an absolute treasure. All of the food was fantastic, atmosphere was nice, and the view was beautiful. If it is available, please try the cheesecake with strawberry and basil. If you go, ask for Ellie!!

You pay for the view! We only come in for their Happy Hour in the bar area.... Otherwise, we simply don't find their food quality worth their price point. Definitely a great ambiance for first dates or special occasions. The city looks magical at night!

We love eating out. Last night we arrived in this superb restaurant which we didn’t know before. We passed a delightful evening there with very good dishes and an efficient team and an impressive cook. We added this place in our phone list and we shall definitely go again very soon. We deeply recommend.

Idk if I’ve changed or if Portland city grill has changed hahaha but I used to think it was the height of luxury and now it’s just a solid place to bring your dad. They do what they do well, but it leaves something to be desired. I think I prefer a cocktails and appetizers night here compared to a full dinner. Dinner is overpriced and just OK. That being said, we came here for Christmas Eve with my partner’s family as is their Christmas Eve tradition and everyone was so nice. Our waiter was great, the hostess was great. Things were pretty quick and well timed. Drinks came fast. I hope everyone had a great Christmas, they definitely made ours lovely in return.

You’re definitely paying for the views. My halibut was over broiled and just average tasting. The staff is attentive but rushed, the dining room is far too crowded and noisy. Not worth the price but the views are amazing, make sure to get a window seating and try to do it west facing at sunset. If you’re lucky you’ll catch a rainbow!

Beautiful restaurant with spectacular views of Portland. The food and drinks ware good as well. I’d recommend the Halibut and the Tofu Veggie stir-fry. Clean, well stocked restrooms. Our waitstaff was amazing…thanks Michael!!

Enjoyed my experience as the ambience was amazing but from what we payed I expected more from the staff. Thought this would be a great spot for our anniversary because I saw the restaurant gave these cute cards. I included this in our reservation and saw other tables had it but we did not :( You're definitely paying for the view because everything was okay.

Our waitress was very friendly but there were long gaps in checking in, most notably when we were ready to leave. The food is good but not great. The Kung Pao calamari is interesting and worth trying. The Wagyu steak is good and was done exactly right. The seared ahi appetizer was not very good compared to most places. For the price the food is not a great value, but it does have very good atmosphere and awesome views.

Very busy but when you can get a table the experience and views are worth it. Staff are professionally polite, punctual, and provide background on dishes and pairings. Food was fresh, moist, and full of flavor. From steaming fresh bread to the crackle of the creme brulee there were no complaints.

Very beautiful venue and views! Service was ok. Very busy which is always a good sign. I was not impressed with the food. For the price point I would have expected a little better quality. Fun place for sure, but not sure the price matches the food quality. Sorry guys

June 2022 - Beautiful views from the 30th floor. Food/Pricing - Seafood Alfredo ($36) - Favorite dish! Creamy and absolutely yummy. Creme Brulee ($10) - Great choice for dessert! Wagyu Rib Eye ($75) - There was too much fat and the meat was a bit disappointing to me. Rockfish Jambalaya ($35) - Tasty but not in the traditional jambalaya type of way. Cucumber Elderflower Smash ($13) - Refreshingly perfect alcoholic beverage of choice for the evening! Service/Ambiance - William was the perfect server for us! Prompt, polite, and professional. Knew when to leave us be and came by to check on us without being intrusive.

Christmas Eve Dinner. This was a set menu that included soup or salad, choice of entree, and dessert. We also got the calamari and shrimp cocktail appetizer. Everything tasted good, but with high expectations it wasn’t 5-star. Ahi tuna was a little flavorless and steak was a bit tough. Mashed potatoes were mixed so hard they sort of developed that glue texture. I prefer more fluffy. The calamari was pretty good with more of an Asian flavor and abundant. You go here for the view really.

My wife took me here when I visited her on a Portland business trip. The view from the 30th floor is incredible. We sat in the bar and our waiter was very attentive and friendly. The short ribs were tender and the mashed potatoes divine. Tuna dish was a bit spicy but also good. A great spot for a special night out.

This place is nothing short of amazing, especially if you're celebrating something special. From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere swept us off our feet with its romantic charm. The decor, dim lighting, and cozy ambiance create the perfect setting for our anniversary dinner. Indulge in a diverse menu crafted with culinary expertise, each bite bursting with exquisite flavors. The attentive and knowledgeable staff adds to the exceptional dining experience, offering top-notch recommendations for both food and drinks. Speaking of drinks, the bar serves up some fantastic concoctions. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or a cocktail enthusiast, the options are extensive and crafted to perfection. And let's talk about the views – breathtaking! The restaurant boasts picturesque scenes that add to the overall romantic vibe. It's the kind of place where every corner seems to have a story, making it ideal for creating lasting memories. One piece of advice: make a reservation, especially on weekends. We witnessed a long wait for walk-ins, but trust me, the experience is well worth planning ahead for. Fortunately, there's a convenient parking garage in the building, making it hassle-free for those dining in downtown Portland. In conclusion, if you're looking for a place to celebrate love, milestones, or just a special night out, this gem in downtown Portland is the perfect choice. We left with hearts full and satisfied palates, eager to return for another enchanting experience.

Amazing service, views, and food! The wife and I started with the crabcake. Simply amazing and a must-have for seafood lovers! We then ordered the braised short ribs and the grilled seafood trio. Both meals were impeccable and delicious! Our serving staff member was polite, funny, and knowledgeable throughout. The views were simply unique and amazing! Thanks for a great meal and experience!

I had a delicious birthday dinner at the Portland City Grill! Fancy dining with excellent service where your water glass is never empty. I enjoyed the Shellfish Bouillabaisse which I highly recommend! My husband had the braised short ribs which were delicious. The best part about this restaurant is the view of the city from the 30th floor. I definitely recommend this place for a special occasion.

Great night view of the city high on the 30th floor. The bread was excellent as a good indicator for the rest of the meal. Clam chowder was served hot and tasted great. Medium rare rib eye was perfectly cooked. Mushroom with garlic was delicious. Appetizer scallops wasn’t our favorite part of the menu - a bit too much sauces and covered the taste of the scallops.

  • 5/5 M M. 8 months ago on Google
I went on my birthday to relax and take in the views. The food and service is excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. There's a strong Asian food bent. The Pork Belly and Steamed Buns really blew me away. I don't tend to care for pork belly, but this changed my mind. The private rooms are gorgeous. Drinks pictured: Rare & Fancy Old Fashioned and The Butterfly Effect

What an absolutely wonderful restaurant for fine dining and the most beautiful view of Portland. We celebrated our wedding anniversary here all the way from Ohio. We would come back next year for another anniversary dinner for sure. Perfect service and the food was wonderful. John the manager made sure to check in on us and was so kind and fabulous. We felt very welcomed there and had a pleasant dining experience.

This is a high end experience that every couple should try at least once. Nestled on the 30th floor you have gorgeous views of the city. Make a reservation and ask how early you need to be to score a window table. Nearly every table had cute couples celebrating anniversaries and such. The food is higher priced for sure, but when we went they were more than happy to split our calamari appetizer and halibut dinner. I can begin to tell you how delicious the food was... such flavors and presentation fit for a King or your Queen.

I wish I could rate 6 stars! Being a Portland native, I have always loved PCG! I’ve celebrated graduations, birthdays, and romantic dates with partners over many years. But when I found out that this company delivers through Grubhub due to the pandemic, I was BLOWN AWAY. It’s obvious that the entire staff still put in the love and effort even when the customer is away. Fresh food that tasted AMAZING, and was packaged with care. If you’re ever unhappy with your food, I highly recommend being direct with the staff to make you a new plate. They will always be happy to do so, because they’re super proud of the establishment. Thank you PCG from your long-standing Portland fan! Let’s keep this business going y’all!

Food is ok. Has one of the best views in town where you can enjoy your lunch and desert. If you haven’t been to Portland before, it’s a great excuse to come and check out Big Pink a.k.a the US Bank building which is probably one of the nicest office buildings in the city. This place would be good if you’re trying to impress someone.

  • 4/5 Jason Van C. 3 years ago on Google
Best view the city, although a bit overpriced as a result of the location. Food and drink quality is excellent, but again, a little more expensive than necessary. Happy hour is where it's at, though.

  • 3/5 K.E. P. 3 years ago on Google
This place like so many others has changed, probably due to Covid. The happy hour menu is not as good as it used to be and while the service was satisfactory, it was not exemplary as it was in the past. All this probably explains why we were able to get a window seat late in the afternoon. The place used to be jammed at that time. However, the view is still fantastic and the prices are still high.

  • 5/5 Edgar R. 3 years ago on Google
Went here for my anniversary, reserved a table, and when we arrived we were seated window side overlooking the city. Our server was tentive and personable. He even showed me how to crack open a lobster tail. Hands off, of course. Our food was fresh and of course delicious, the servings were big enough that we didn't need to order desert even though we were tempted. Portland City Grill is following safety guidelines in regards the pandemic. All servers and staff are wearing masks, as well as their customers, of course up until we are seated or we are ready to eat. I would recommend PCG to anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion, or simply wants to have a night out with their partner.

This site is my number one restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I love it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this place. when I I need a special lunchon, this place comes instantly to my head. Great and all kinds of food and a rich menu.generous staff, and nice atmosphere. Not less important, the pay is reasonable. I sent my friends to this spot with no doubt.

  • 3/5 Aaron G. 3 years ago on Google
Firstly, the staff were fantastic! This review is not a reflection on the servers. Price for quality was a little mixed really. I wasn't blown away by the food, nor was I satisfied commensurate with the cost. The cocktails weren't evenly poured, as 4 old fashioned drinks at the table all yielded very different flavors. My two drinks also lacked any light profiles and was mostly hit with the flavor of gin and vodka when it should have lime or mint as well. As for the American Wagyu; I have to be understanding it can't compare to what I had in Japan...but it really tasted just like a nice steak. Nothing bespoke of Wagyu, and nothing greater than I have had at other establishments in the area. The seafood was excellent however, and the vegetables and potatoes were near perfect. But with what I paid for drinks and steak, it was enough to keep this review down.

Apparently even when you make a reservation as instructed, the walk ins are entitled to a window view before the reservations. We had to sit in the middle of the room where we could barely see the view. Then told if we wanted a window seat we would have to wait 30min-1hour. So whats the point of the reservation? Also, the menu online is not the same as the resturant menu- their current menu is short. Ended up having a salad appetizer as a meal because I don't eat steak and seafood...thought we viewed the menu online and i was covered, but got here and the entree i chose was not on the menu.. Very disappointing!

New to Portland Oregon and had to find a quick spot to take the wife for her birthday dinner. Asking around, was Recommended PCG. Building was under construction so finding the front door was interesting. Navigating all the homeless, panhandlers, crazies, and boarded up stores. We found the front lobby, took the elevator to the top. Doors open to a dimly lit corridor where we we're greeted by a very nice individual who found our resorvations immediately. Led to our table, a nice window table overlooking the elusive city of Portland. We choose an earlier time to have dinner so we could watch the sun set. It was a very beautiful view. Inside the restaurant itself very low key and elegant. Our waiter Izzy was extremely professional. Very knowledgeable about all products being served and within 20 minutes our drinks and apptizer were on the table. 25 minutes after that our main courses. I went with the Wagyu Ribeye. Which was amazing, a bit costly but big enough to bring some left overs home haha. Our experience in total was amazing, we will definitely be recommending and returning for future occasions. Thank you PCG for keeping it 100% professional.

The food and drinks were really good, and fresh. The wait staff went over and above. They made an extra effort to get us a table by the window, which was really nice because it was our anniversary. Easy access, off street under ground parking (enter parking garage from SW Pine) with free validation. Even though downtown Portland is kinda sketchy at this time, it's a safe access to this famous Portland restaurant. And the view? Breathtaking!

First time back in a couple years. One of my favorite places for happy hour. Everything was great my only issue was asking if they could turn a chicken marsalla into a picatta. Our server said they didn't have capers. Maybe they were out for the night, but one of their dishes had capers in it so they should have it. I had the halibut though and it was delicious. Wife had the pork chop and said it was really good as well. They gave us a cupcake for our anniversary which was cool cause we didn't really want dessert so it was a tiny bite. Overall great time. I'd do 4.5 but not an option.

The view was fabulous. The food, not so much. The cioppino and chicken Marsala were way too sweet. We mentioned this to the waiter but it didn’t seem to matter. We were very disappointed and we’ll go to a different restaurant for our next special occasion.

  • 2/5 Baylee A. 3 years ago on Google
We came for our anniversary and even put that in our reservations maybe they’re not making anything special because of covid but we weren’t helped for over 15 minutes the sent water and then when a server came they went to the table behind us even though we had been there first and waiting longer than them. My steak was horrible tough and not good flavor. Will not be coming back way too expensive for gross food and terrible service.
