I’ve lived in Portland for 25 years and have tried hundreds of food carts all over town and this is hands down the best food cart I have had. What makes a great food carts? Two things; the first is of course great food, which this cart time and time again comes through with. The authenticity of their food can’t be found at any other Indian cart/restaurant. The naan is exceptional, I’ve never had anything like it. The second part to a great food cart is the people. Simple and Areyka (apologies if I spelled that wrong) are truly the kindest and most genuine people I have ever met. I have been coming here for 6-7 years now and they always greet you and treat you like their favorite customer no matter what. My go to menu item here is the chicken wrap (masala curry type of dish wrapped in naan like a burrito) which I can’t resist getting all the time. I have had the chicken biryani which is excellent, but also the chicken or veggie lunch special, which is an amazing lunch deal that comes with Naan and changes daily. If you are in town for a visit or if you live here, do yourself a favor and come to Old Taste of India to meet Simple and Areyka and try their amazing food!! I promise you won’t regret it, you will just regret not knowing about this gem of a food cart earlier

Glad to see you guys are still open! This place has great food. I usually get the lamb wrap because it's so good, but I've also had some awesome recommendations when I've wanted to try something new. It's my go-to food cart on those long days of studying. Thanks guys!

Recently, I was in Portland and found myself staying at a hotel not far from Old Taste of India. I have not had Indian food for some time and decided to give them a try. I ordered the Lamb Korma and the regular Naan. I was truly blown away. The Korma was some of the best that I have ever had and the naan was fresh and clearly made in a traditional manner. The only complaint that I had is there was too much food for me to eat in one sitting and I didn't have a good means to take it home the next day! I will return the next time I am back in the area!

Their curry is hands down the best! Stopped by multiple times to get it. I want the recipe because the curry I make at home doesn’t even compare. They are truly nice people, once they forgot to give us one of drinks we ordered and they gave an extra one for free. I would highly recommend

Food was so bad, it tasted like eating raw salt, all you reviewers got me misled with 5star fake reviews, it's a scam, the food is absolutely disgusting. I had a hard time finding a place to go-to the loo cus I still have diahhrea from how bad it all was. Do not eat here and do not take suggestions, make your own decisions. Ruined my day in Portland, absolutely regret it.

Favorite place for Indian food & the best lamb in town, period. Love the wraps & samosas with extra mint chutney. Always a good time chatting with them too!

Authentic Indian food. Quite different from your average Indian restaurant. The chicken curries and the naans are great. Also, the Faluda Ice Cream is amazing.

I just LOVE this place. I work right across the street and have consumed so many calories from Taste. Just superior street food.

Amazing food everytime I come here. I recommend chicken tikka masala or chicken biriyani, and never forget their amazing garlic naan bread.

The best indian food around and run by such a nice couple. Even if they are closed, my boyfriend and I will wait until the next day to get food from this food cart. Couldn’t recommend more!

Had the chicken tikka masala on one occasion and it’s literally the best Tikka Masala I have tasted thus far (I have eaten it at three other different Indian places), love how they serve it over rice and not separately. On another occasion I had the Saag Chicken and it was also so so good 🤤🤤🤩🤩🤩, 💯 recommend. Additionally, I had the Kulcha Naan with it and it’s definitely my favourite type of Naan. Can’t go wrong with potatoes 😍.

If you are a fan of butter chicken, this is some of the best in Portland ! Probably some of the best Indian food in Portland period ! Ask for mild if you are like me and don’t like spicy ! Super good rich flavor, they use real cream in the recipe. Everything is hand made and cooked fresh. Daily lunch specials. Good portions and good pricing ! Super nice husband and wife couple that run it !

Called to place an order. They were incredibly rude about me asking for less spicy food. Terrible customer service.

The lunch special was very watery. The person who handled my order was timely and very kind, but the food was pretty bad unfortunately. (I got the punjabi aloo & chicken vindaloo)

Loved the food and service. Really friendly service. I like the Chicken Biryani a lot!

The lady doesn't know how to talk to her customers. I called and asked how much is the lamb biriyani. And she said 200$. Then she asked how spicy I said 8. She told me I dont want a lamb biriyani then. If I wanted to joke around I'd just go to a comedy show. Not a indian restaurant. Disgusted.

They have a great lunch special - but I’m a big fan of their mutter paneer, my favorite takeout!

Ordered chicken biryani, was served a giant pile of rice with a few tiny pieces of chicken. For the price, it was a bad deal and I wouldn’t return to this place.
