Schulte & Herr is small, cozy restaurant. You can tell it's a family run place. The service is fantastic, and the food to die for. Everything from appetizers to dessert is fantastic. The potato pancakes are delicious, and I had the bratwurst which came with the best potato salad I've ever had (besides my Polish grandmother's, of course).

Our recent dining experience at Schulte & Herr restaurant was fantastic! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and comfortable. The ambiance was perfect, with warm lighting, cozy wooden decor, and traditional German music playing in the background. The menu was full of delicious traditional German dishes that did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection. We started with the potato cake appetizer that came with apple sauce and sour cream which was a great start to the meal. We then enjoyed the Jägerschnitzel with mushroom gravy, spaetzle and red-cabbage and it was absolutely delicious! Finished off with a delicious raspberry chocolate cake. The portions were generous and the food was presented beautifully. On top of the fantastic food, the service was impeccable. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. She even offered some great recommendations when we couldn't decide what to order. Overall, our experience at this German restaurant was unforgettable. The food, the service, and the atmosphere all exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for authentic German cuisine and a warm and inviting dining experience. We will definitely be back!

This place is extraordinarily amazing, the taste of homemade German comfort foods, ambient down to earth vibe, and hospitality. It gives you the experience of being invited to a German friend's place and being treated to a extraordinary tasteful home cooked meal with warm and welcoming atmosphere. Also you can bring your own drink to their tables and have an amazing time with your friends and family over a nice table lighted by candles. Its a unique experience having dinner there and the price is reasonably cheap. We had 2 starters and two big main meal with two deserts and drinks for two people and it all cost less than $70 with tip. I mean wow!!!! I recommend try Schweineschnitzel which is thinly pounded pork loin, breaded and fried, served with a choice of German potato salad or potato gratin. Also Rheinischer sauerbraten was the chef's kiss. It's a marinated beef roast served with braised red cabbage and Servietten-dumplings. We will definitely stop there next time that we are visiting Portland again.

Wow the best meal I've had in a long time!! Highly recommend the pea soup. The complimentary rye bread was also incredible. Got the goulash and squeezed some lemon, it was amazing.

This is a gem in Portland. This is authentic German food. It reminds me of the great food I had when I went to Germany. Everything has been simply amazing. I've ordered to go a few times, and had a party of 6 here pre-covid. It's always been a great experience. The waitress maintaining all of the tables on a busy night was very impressive. She is probably the best host/waitress I've seen. She also helped me practice my German. The ambience is very comfortable and not pretentious. Candles lit at the tables. Paintings of Germany on the walls. The bread and smear was very nice. The potato cakes were amazing - crispy outside, moist inside, delicate texture. Not too vinegary, well cooked potatoes, perfect potato salad. Get the schnitzel with the mushroom gravy- it's great!! The schnitzel is very thinly cut and pounded. My friend enjoyed their split pea soup. We got the chocolate cake with raspberries to go. It was great. Definitely will be back. One of my favorite restaurants.

Tiny little mom & pop shop with the best authentic German food ever! So good. One time when we were there there was another family and they said they drive over an hour to come here so their mother can have food like she had back home in Germany. Delicious! BYOB
