Love this hotel from the staff to the lobby to the rooms. The rooms are always clean and done up nicely and a lot of them have really great views. The front desk people are always accommodating and helpful- even when we arrived late and have some weird requests, they didn’t give us a hard time at all. Also the location is close to tons of great food and bars and overall central. Parking can be a bit tricky but nothing beyond parking in a city. Also an amazing Thai food cart around the corner- definitely recommend!

I received warmly and assigned a room earlier than expected. Clean and comfortable, with ample towels with 2 USB connectors to charge my devices. I awakened with a great night's sleep, to begin my day!

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Jupiter. We loved being able to walk or bus everywhere, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room wasn’t very big but had everything we needed and was very clean and well kept. We liked the blackboard door! The one thing we missed having was a small frig in the room to safely store leftovers from our dinners at the local restaurants. That is the only suggestion I have. I would stay here again, and hope to on my next visit.

It should be made aware to the temporary tenants that you can hear every single movement above you and in the hallways at all times. I brought my three month old here and not only was he woken up 3 separate times from loud stomping and people opening and closing their doors but from a phone call made by the front desk at 11:30pm that was made as I was walking to get water and warm up a bottle that the down stairs neighbors kept hearing excessive stomping. By the end of the experience it felt like a requirement to be laying in bed to stay here past a certain time at night rather than being able to meet my basic needs by getting water or using the restroom in a room I paid upwards to $300. On top of that the the light in the bathroom were none functional along with the lights by the sink. It was all a very subpar experience. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone or the restaurant downstairs.

Oh My.....I should have listened to my gut when reading the reviews. This is a hotel specifically designed for generation Y and Z, not really for adults travelling on business. It's a see and be seen hotel that looks great on the outside, until attention to details are needed and go unmet... Lobby is chic and cool, but the rooms are designed on a budget, like Ikea sale section......you can hear EVERYTHING through the very thin walls, floors and ceiling. Every time the toilet flushed in the room next to mine, i could hear the plumbing in the walls, along with every conversation from the rooms on either side of me. they must have run out of money when designing the shower as the shower head is on the wrong side of the wall and sprays water out into the bathroom flooding the entire space. No shower door, just a flimsy shower curtain that does not reach the floor and a peel and stick thin pad meant to keep the water in. no coffee in the room, no phone in the room, no breakfast in the hotel. The front desk watched me struggle with all my bags trying to unload from my car and never offered to help. No one to help with bags at all. No concierge. In fact, i don't think i saw anyone over 23 years old in the hotel. Which explains the complete disinterest in customer service. the breakfast place next door was well designed, but had very limited options...could not make an omelette, and had no fruit or yogurt. no expresso machine. No desk or desk chair whatsoever in the room, so i had to work on the floor with my laptop the entire time. Parking was 2 blocks away in an unsecured open-gated lot next to homeless camps. when checking out, they would not help me with my bags. When checking in, i was greeted with "next in line, your ID?" not "welcome to the jupiter hotel" i was told numerous times that the restaurant and bar are not owned and operated by the hotel...ummm.ok? what a waste of over $450

We enjoyed our stay at the Jupiter Original! The location is excellent, very walkable to several great restaurants and bars. The rooms are basic but clean and totally comfortable for a short visit to Portland.

Loved this place. Stayed in the "Original" section. The room was small but clean and the bathroom was very clean. The staff is very helpful. Great restaurant and bar called Hey Love (opens at 3pm) Beautiful rooftop area called The Perch. Highly recommended.

We had a very nice stay. The folks at the front desk were lovely and helpful, and they are available 24/7 via both phone AND TEXT! The rooms were nice, although we had a smart TV remote in our room that didn't seem to do anything. But otherwise very nice. Only other complaint is they ran out of parking so we had to do street parking. But for the weekends it isn't monitored.

Around 3 months ago, I went here with my newborn baby Claudia, and my husband Davin, Claudia was ALL SMILES the entire time and the artwork on the wall is stunning! It was so quiet I didn't need the earplugs I brought! The TV was in a very nice spot to easily watch. I love this hotel so much! I'll be coming back soon to get out of the house!

Staff was super nice, but it's hard for me to love this spot. The rooms are super clean and cute, but so incredibly small for the price. Also, a giant tent is in the middle of the u-shaped placement of rooms which I'm sure is a really cool place to hang out and lounge, but when you are trying to sleep in your room at midnight and folks are in there, you can hear every word. Another gripe is that this place only has a certain amount of spots they can hold for parking. So, you run the risk of having to park in adjacent sketchy lots or street parking laced with broken glass if you arrive too late. There's definitely a better bang for your buck somewhere else.

Just not enjoyable. I've wanted to stay here since they opened as I absolutely love the concept and midcentury vibes. I know this was not a luxury hotel (staying in the original) but I was led to believe this was like a premium experience in a "motel vintage" style place with lots of art and charm. It just was missing any amount of amenities that would of made me feel good about the cost I was spending vs staying somewhere else. The hotel rooms were insanely small, barely enough room to walk along the foot of the bed. The mattresses were terrible, about what you'd get at a motel 6...and that would of been so much cheaper. There was no coffeemaker or refrigerator, so for my 5 day stay I couldn't get any leftovers or cold beverages to enjoy in my room. The Doug Fir restaurant is now no longer open until 3pm, and this was a big reason to stay so we could have access to a morning breakfast which was not the case. They provided coffee until like 11 in front of the Doug fir, and I was really looking forward to it. I definitely was not expecting mind-blowing coffee, but this coffee was so weak I couldn't drink it. Also I had to pay for overnight parking, which was not mentioned when booking either. I know I could of done more research, but it was just a shock when I wasn't expecting the cost per night to go up even higher. This place is fine, its quirky, and if it was priced more reasonably then I would have no complaints, but when you sell yourself as a premium experience and charge for it, it just leaves you disappointed and depressed about all the money you just wasted for nothing.

This hotel is super cute! Clean rooms, fun decor, the rooms are small (we didn't mind that at all - just something to note for future guests to know). Love the themed rooms and the vintage/hipster type vibes. I appreciated there was a bathtub in our room. The only note I have is the front desk person who checked us in was really rude...we were even trying to be extra nice and they were just super rude and short with us no matter what we said. Possibly some extra hospitality training would be helpful for the front desk staff. Huge shout out to the maintenance & housekeeping staff for keeping the rooms and property looking clean and beautiful! Super fun spot that's for sure! **bonus thought: If you stay here there is a really great Thai food truck right next to the hotel**

Above and beyond customer service. Gentleman, I believe his name was Andrew, who was working evening of 10/29/22, Halloween weekend, was so nice and helpful, even though it was clear it had been an insane day. He didn’t show it at all, and was extra gracious, patient, and mindful of our stay there. Truly, made it the best experience possible. Clean hotel room, nice furniture, great location, and a steady price on top. All around, a great experience that I’m looking forward to staying in again. Simply wonderful.

Comfortable and clean room. Location 100% on point. Service. Very accommodating. Atmosphere. Wonderful I highly recommend staying here if you're looking for being in the center of it all. Fantastic eateries are abound. Public transportation is very accessible.

Loved the walkable location, parking was cheap and easy, our room was very clean and met our needs! It is obviously a revamped older motel but that doesn’t bother us when we travel. It felt like a safe and tidy pet friendly option. Being able to walk to coffee and food was killer. I do think they should put fridges in the room but other than that no complaints.

Loved our little staycation here. The check-in and check-out process was easy, and the room was very comfy (though a little noisy, we could hear everything going on in the hallway outside). Everything else was fabulous: discounts at multiple local restaurants, a great neighborhood to walk around in, and a view of the city from our room. Definitely recommend!

Very nice front desk folk. Central to a lot of the things you might want to do in Portland. Clean rooms and property. The mattress was a little thin for my tastes is the only negative comment I have. Otherwise it's a decent place.

Modern and quirky all in one. Pros: - Rooms were comfortable and no complaints there. - Clean bathrooms with tubs. - They apparently give you a free condom on your nightstand :P Cons: - Parking is first come first serve even for the ones you buy. By the time we got there, the paid parking was all taken. They said we can park on the street overnight for free as long as move the car before the parking meter maids come. It worked out fine but one of the reasons we chose this place was to get their garage parking for the piece of mind. - There was a huge party happening right outside our room until 10:30. Music blasting and lights flashing. They did turn off the music after quiet hours but if you were trying to hang out in your room peacefully before that, you were out of luck.

nice hotel with great service. i ordered flowers and bottle of wine while I booked it. the flower is gorgeous. for my wife's birthday. she loves it so much that holding for the next 4 days untill we get home. 1star off because the hotel itself is bit old. but they have Jupiter NEXT which is newer.

Thank you so much to the staff that was working today! My building did fire alarm testing out of the blue, so I was frazzled trying to find a quiet place to bring my stressed out pet for the day since the alarms would be going off for hours. The front desk crew was SO NICE. They got me a room ASAP, did their best to pick the most quiet room so my pet could relax, and helped as much as they could with a discounted rate. Thank you so much for making a stressful day better! 💗

If you want a cheap room in Portland in the center of a great neighborhood. Great option, but you get what you pay for. Our room was dirty, and so cramped, the door had a horrible gap which led to cold air coming in all night, which we used a pillow to have to stop it. Which led us also to having to use the heater which was from the 1970's. It was so load and as it was 2" from the bed could not sleep. We've stayed at the Juniper NExt a few times, but decided to save a little money this time...but wish we would have just stayed somewhere else

Stayed in the original. First the room we were given was clearly in the midst of being turned because the bedding was stripped and there was debris all over the table. So we were given a new room and upgraded! New room was fine. Definitely lacking some basics accommodations like toiletries or a fridge or a wardrobe/ closet but that’s okay. What’s awful is the sound proofing and the professionalism of the cleaning team. For one, when we were waiting for our new room the cleaning staff was hollering across bedrooms at each other which was a little odd. But once we were in our room we could hear the cleaning team in the room above of us and they were super loud. Dragging stuff across the floor, slamming doors, hollering to each other again. It turned us off from requesting any cleaning throughout our stay which is a first for us. Guests/maybe staff continued to be loud the rest of the stay which was really hard to sleep through. I’m not sure if it was just a rough weekend or if the walls are super thin but there were several times a door in the room above us would close and the walls and mirror in our room would shake as a result. It woke me up more than once. There was also a guest who decided to knock on their hotel door for 5 minutes straight around 3am because they got locked out I assume. Who knows. Lastly we parked in the outdoor lot per the front desk directive but there were spots with the same signage right in front of our rooms. We weren’t told if we could use those spots, but there wasn’t any clear indication that we couldn’t either so it was confusing. The outdoor lot is pretty open and definitely unsecured so we would’ve appreciated being able to park in front of the room if it was an option. Front desk staff was lovely as was the restaurant in the Next portion of the hotel. But actual room accommodations in Original left a lot to be desired.

Ugh. Nickle and dime at every moment and nothing great to save it. The room is cute but TINY. The experience included door keys not working, extra charges for parking spots that aren’t under camera, a bartender pouring gin for vodka, no food for breakfast, and the receptionist not knowing the name of the street beside the parking garage. Disappointing compared to the rest of the country.

We stated in the more affordable Jupiter Original which seems worth it for the price. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Location pros: proximity to lots of restaurants/bars. Location cons: did not feel the most safe. Water in the shower got warm but not hot.

I used to live in Portland so I came back to visit for a wedding. The bride and bridal party was all staying at the Jupiter so I booked my stay here to be near them. I'm familiar with the area and have passed by the hotel many many times while I lived here. The hotel staff was wonderful. Ian checked me in and out and provided all necessary information, and was incredibly welcoming and pleasant. It's also in an ideal location on the East side, but close enough to the West side/downtown if you wanted to venture there for some touristy things. Provided discounts with local businesses. However, there were quite a few things that could have made our stay more enjoyable. First, I had NO idea that the Jupiter Original is just a motel that was slightly renovated to look "hip." The website barely hints at this information so I was unpleasantly surprised. The Jupiter Next appears to be an actual hotel, but I cannot believe how much it cost to stay in a decorated motel room!!! I would not be as upset if it had been significantly cheaper and I knew it was motel-style but the room was damp, old, and small. I felt dirty the entire time I was there. There was no closet, just a couple hangers on studs in the wall. My boyfriend could barely hang his suit for the wedding, and then there was no iron but the front desk was able to provide a steamer. Additionally, the website lists 2 options for parking (outdoor lot for $15/night and underground garage for $25/night), and I was provided a parking pass upon check-in without realizing I had not gotten the option of choosing outdoor or indoor parking. After receiving the bill, I realized that they had by default given us underground parking for more money when I would have chosen the lot. I honestly would not stay here again. Maybe the Jupiter Next if I were able to actually see the rooms before booking, but it's just not worth the money.

My partner and I really like this place. The lounge in gorgeous and while the rooms are underwhelming the whole vibe is hip and cool. The hotel has a small penthouse hangout balcony that has good city views and it’s in a really fun area of town.

Service was great. Very convenient location. I just wish there was at least 1 USB port in the room.

  • 5/5 Michael J. 1 year ago on Google
Room was spectularly clean and well maintained. Staff was friendly and easy to work with. Two points of improvement, the aboveground parking was a littlw tricky to find, and I booked the Jupiter Next and I got put in the Jupitor. Still overall a solid quality hotel

My room had a David Bowie mural. The bed was extremely comfortable. The room itself was a bit small, but overall a good stay.

Excellent, vibey, cool hotel. Loved the room, beds were comfy, staff was excellent. Great experience. Love the “local hookups” card they give you at checkin (deals w/ local partners). Unfortunately I had to take 1 star off because as a hotel that host bands on tour very often… how do you not have an on-site laundry?
