I do not understand why people rated this place so high! We were up for a nice breakfast / lunch. This restaurant was not our first choice but based on the good ratings, the menu and the pictures we were exited. Despite a queue we were able to get a table fairly quickly. Everyone was very friendly. But the most important thing - the food, was disappointing. Taste was missing, the sauce Hollandaise did not hold up to my expectation and did not taste at all like it's suppose to. The hash browns as well as the red potatoes were slightly undercooked. The taste of the food in general was bland, I could not figure out what the idea of the taste was meant to be. The black tea was very good though. The complementary beignets were tasty but also not quite done.

I really enjoyed the food and the beverage. I ordered the eggs Benedict and added French toast as a side. Everything was cooked to perfection. My friend ordered an omelette and loved it. The only negative was that we were sat in their outdoor dining but they heaters weren’t working very well. It was cold from time to time.

We had a fantastic time brunching it up over the MLK weekend we so many amazing friends. Since we had a reservation our table of 8 was sat immediately. The front of the house staff was friendly and very prompt with both our refreshments as well as our food. Of the 8 meals order 5 of us ordered the Portuguese Fried Rice and we couldn’t be happier. It’s there it’s try item.

Different. I enjoyed it. It was a busy restaurant on a downtown street in Portland. The line was long and I probably waited about 30 minutes (I was alone). Then they tried to seat me with a woman who was alone … in one of the little cabanas outside! Those are totally private. They shut the door and you are completely alone in there. Honestly, a little weird. I politely declined. The cabanas are interesting and might be fun to eat in if you have a party of people. They’re basically like little plastic sheds though … different and unique but not completely inviting. Anyway, I got to sit inside. The coffee was not very strong and my omelette was so-so. Not really worth the long wait. The atmosphere was fun. The service was pretty good. The ambience was nice. But I probably won’t be taking people here in the future.

The staff was efficient and really nice, and the food was fabulous. I got French toast with lemon curd & blueberries on their suggestion and it was perfection. I also got a pineapple rum drink which I highly recommend. Everything was really good, nothing felt rushed but the wait was really minimal. Would definitely go again.

Portuguese fried rice was great! Sausage was a little crispy with a nice spicy flavor. Great idea for breakfast starch instead of usual potatoes. I’d give a 5-star if the service was as good as the food.

Came here for a Saturday lunch and booked a reservation the day before which I would recommend as this is a popular downtown brunch destination. I got the Ed’s scramble and an orange juice. The Ed’s scramble was very filling and the portion was sizeable and could be shared between two if not on the particularly hungrier side. The sauce on the side was very delicious and added much needed flavor. The food was warm, but got cold particularly quickly. The scramble was delicious but I wasn’t impressed by it. They have a robust drink menu from brunch cocktails to espresso drinks. This place is great for large groups! All in all a great American brunch dining location in downtown Portland. Overall feel is that this is a good tourist spot if visiting in downtown Portland or wanting to grab a quick coffee/pastry on the go.

The food was cooked to perfection here today , Prime Rib French dip with fries, and a Pork Tenderloin Sandwich with a garden salad. It was 1:00 pm and it was pretty busy. In my opinion the tables were way to small, it was difficult to have drinks and food on the table at the same time. The staff was very friendly as well as having good service I would highly recommend Cheryl's on 12th.

SOOOOOOO good!! Reservations highly suggested if you are looking to go on the weekend. Once we were seated our waitress was so attentive, quick, and really nice. She had excellent recommendations. We were drooling over all the plates coming out — everything on the menu looked amazing Then we were served one beignets each (completely unexpected) still warm and incredibly delicious !! I could have just ate a dozen of them for breakfast. Cheesy potatoes were def a huge hit — they were a tad on the undercooked side and heavy on the pepper. Eggs Sardou was really good. I love the flavor the bed of spinach and artichoke — that being said it was a lot and made the English muffin super soggy. You will find a large chunk of artichoke holding the egg in place which seems cute and a playful spin but it’s not warm/at least mine was not — ranging from half in to one inch thick …. was a little much for me personally. Spent some scraping away a lot of the ingredients. About $30 per person with food + drink. Would highly recommend for breakfast / brunch.

This GEM! Totally worth making the trip to downtown Portland. Open up with delicious coffee and teas, served with delicious beignets. Our party picked up the delicious Portuguese Fried Rice, savory Ed's Scramble, and uniquely and tasty Apple Frittwich. All of the food was phenomenal! Our hostess was polite and attentive. I really appreciated her not trying to sell anything she hadn't tried and giving honest feedback on things she had experienced. The dining area is a huge, fun, maze with turns around every corner. Recommend reservations, saved us some time in line on a busy Sunday. Most definitely will be back!

Had a really good experience here. Stepped outside my comfort zone of usual eggs and bacon. Got The Portuguese fried rice, added a scrambled egg on top, and really enjoyed it. Capped it with an order of French toast. The entire staff was really friendly and inviting.

this place is pretty busy throughout the day. I was lucky enough to come and I did not have to wait. Service staff was extra nice. 👍🏾 prices are reasonable this is the kind of space you come to for a first date possibly not a business meeting because it's kind of loud. it has this ambience of feeling like home. The food comes out hot & seasoned so thank God for that.

Stopped in on a work trip for breakfast. The thing that stood out most was the team. Everyone seemed happy, saw coworkers having fun together and cutting up a bit while also being speedy and handling a pretty packed house. Overall just a really good vibe here and my eggs benedict and mimosa were delicious.

A perfectly fine diner breakfast, which actually is a thing that deserves praise. Two eggs over-medium, bacon, English muffin all came out hot and just right. Portuguese fried-rice is really more of a rice scramble, but filled with flavor and very comfort-food satisfying. Perfectly balanced Bloody Mary. Two complimentary beignets as we headed out the door. Very satisfying meal.

The beignets are amazing. We sat down and the waitress brought us some complimentary ones and they were the best pastry I have ever had. Crisp on the outside and soft on the inside almost the softness of a pudding, melt in your mouth I had the biscuits and gravy and it was really good. I don't know if I could day it was the best I ever had, it would have to be a little hotter temperature wise to be really amazing but it still was good The waitress was friendly and very helpful The atmosphere is excellent, the chairs are very comfortable. Great place

The foods are delicious and very yummy! We ordered fish tacos, the grilled fish was larger than the tacos. The Portuguese fried rice was tasty with eggs, sausage and green onions plus seasoning. Service was excellent and friendly.

So good that we ate breakfast there twice! The Portuguese and Veggie Fried Rice were outstanding! Lovely, fresh beignets and a cozy atmosphere just added to the experience. Best breakfast in Portland IMHO!

Quite pricey and extremely busy. We made a reservation in advance for 9 people. Service was efficient and accurate. However, our server did not seem to have a way for us to split the bill, aside from "evenly" 9 ways or to put everything on one card. For a place as big and busy as that, and to see that servers have mobile card readers, we should have been able to split that bill extremely easily. That would be my biggest complaint. But the outdoor seating is wonderful and we had a great time overall. The food is not the best (for the love of God, add salt to the potatoes and eggs), but good, with some unique options. Drinks were fine.

Brought our food out extremely fast. Tasted good. couldn't finish it all. Normally there is a long line and we usually don't go here but today we got right in. I was skeptical about the food but it was on point. Friendly service. Seating felt stacked on top of each other. They were friendly
