Excellent ramen and rice dishes in a Japanese Hawaiian vibe. The ramen broth was complex and the curried rice left a magical taste. Music here soothes the soul while the food nourishes the body. Ferocious cocktails by a bartender with mad skills, too. We’ll be back!🤠😎

I recently tried the G Special Ramen and Pork Belly Rice Ball at this place, and while there were a few positives, I ended up feeling disappointed. Let’s talk about the food. The pork belly had a slight crispiness, but it was way too oily, which affected my overall enjoyment. The rice ball was honestly just a simple scoop of rice, which was quite underwhelming. Now onto the ramen, which was supposed to be the highlight. Unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. The broth had an unexpected sourness that didn’t suit my taste. The mushroom pieces in the ramen were oddly sweet, creating a strange flavor combination. The eggs were overcooked and hastily peeled, showing signs of rushed preparation. The noodles were decent but nothing remarkable. Overall, the broth was too sour, salty, and oily for my liking. The ambiance was alright, although the air conditioner was blasting, making it uncomfortably cold. The customer service was average, with a greeting upon arrival and departure. I also noticed that the water pitchers on the table were exposed without covers, which raised hygiene concerns and the need for better cleanliness practices. The appetizer arrived quickly, but the ramen took longer than expected. Considering the experience overall, it was just okay, but the prices felt high for what was offered. The ramen, which should have been the star, left me disappointed due to the sour broth and flavor inconsistencies.

Stopped in just because I was close by and wanted a bite to eat. It happened to be happy hour (5-7pm) and got the ahi poke appetizer ($8) with a soda water ($2). It was delicious and fresh! They serve sesame oil at the table as well as furikake chili seasoning. I sat outside and watched the cars go by. Overall a grade A experience. Thanks! 🙌

I wasn't super disappointed but the ramen isn't super rich and could have more umami to it. Curry bowl was pretty bland honestly not that good and was pretty much just chicke rice and some corn. Not that impressed.

Took my husband and son to dinner. We ordered 1 G special, 2 tonkotsu and 2 drinks. The bowls were very heavy on broth and lacking in noodles with the broth being too salty to drink on it's own. Bill was $80 (before tip) which wouldn't have been terrible except we had to order at a counter, get our own water, bus our table when we were done, left still hungry and on the way home talked about getting hamburgers. Not a terrible experience but definitely will not go back

What's all the fuss about how great this place is? The broth and veggies were way too salty, our marinated eggs were cold (in soup!), and the flavors were not bad but off the mark, particularly if you've had good ramen before. The service was great and I enjoyed the atmosphere. I really wanted to like this place but all things considered, I'd rather add veggies to some instant noodles at home.

There were a good number of people getting take out and the service was super prompt and kind with our group of 6. A couple tables outside and a few more inside. Staff was gracious to set up a table for us after we called in. Food was good and noodles were springy with a great chew. The G-special Ramen was pretty good but the kara-age was killer! Freshly fried, it was well-seasoned, crispy, and I wanted more! Good ramen experience and make sure you get yourself a couple servings of the chicken! Whisky list looked solid and the cocktails were balanced. Will be back for happy hour!

Love this place. This restaurant is literally one of the reasons why I bought my house 2 blocks away. I LOVE the G Special & the whiskey sour together. What a delicate delight. Tell Michael (the owner), Boris sent you 😉

I live close by and have given this place many chances, tonight was the last time. Echoing what others have said, the ramen had an unexpected sour flavor, is too oily and salty. The noodles were poorly prepared and hard. I had looked online and selected my ramen previous to arriving so when the bowl came out with different meat, I was confused. We asked the server who let us know the in-house menus list the dish correctly. A simple mistake though I was still disappointed. After a few more bites, I felt something hard and sharp in my mouth and discovered there was a metal wire? staple? in my soup. We let the waitress know, and she laughed it off and went back to helping other customers. After that I left without taking another bite as my brain couldn't get past the object and the ramen was not good anyway. TL;DR there are plenty of ramen places that put more care into the preparation of their food, vibes and service. Listen to the recent reviews, skip this spot.

Today is the third consecutive online pickup order where I've showed up after 30 minutes and they've said "oops, we didn't check the online orders, sorry you'll have to wait 20 more minutes." The owner(?) even snapped at me once upset that customers place orders online. I guess it's my fault for using the system they set up. To help them out in this regard, I won't be placing any more orders. Also, I can appreciate a good joke, but playing the entire Pokemon Christmas album is absolutely the worst atmosphere/vibe choice I've ever encountered in a restaurant. Like, people are paying money to be here, don't torture them. Do yourself a favor and don't bother coming here.

Hapa PDX is a vibe! Good tunes pumping, wonderful service and seating options from tables to ramen bar. They have some very interesting whiskeys and cocktails pairings with each meal you choose. Now for the food…the shoyu ramen was good and warmed my belly. The broth was light and fragrant. The noodles were cooked perfectly! I do wish the egg was marinated and that the pork was a little more tender, but that’s just personal preference. Overall my experience was very delightful and I will be back after I’ve exhausted the rest of my Ramen list to try in Portland.

This was my first time at Hapa pdx ramen. WHAT a GEM!!! I didn’t really know what to expect. You walk in and they were super friendly and greeted me warmly and guided me through the menu. Everything was reasonably priced and the portions were large. I started with the seaweed salad ($6) and it was a huge portion (honestly it filled me up). Buuut seeing how it was my first time I ordered the hiyakashi chukka cold noodle salad ($15). It was perfect for a hot summer day. The salad greens were extremely fresh looked as if they came from the farmers market. The flavors were a cool melody of Asian twist with ginger and other aromatic smells. Super fresh and delicious. I’ll be back for sure.

I live nearby and have tried everything by this point. The flavors are either too much or too little. Too oily or too dry. The servers were kind, and the water is prepped before and uncovered. This last time, the noodles were still hard and the entire bowl was salty and oily. Couldn't finish even half of it. I keep going back hoping that another dish will be better. It was great when I first moved to the area, I think the owner was still in store. Unfortunately, a lot of money to spend only to get down half the food.

Excellent food! It is a pretty small place and it can get very busy. It is understandable that they don't answer the phones when they are slammed, but their Curry ramen, which is my favorite, does not show up on their online ordering so I have go in person to order and wait at the store. If you are dining in it is nice, especially if you go during off hours.

Tonkotsu soup was top notch rich and mouthy. Noodles had springy bite. Karaage was tasty, small portion.

Went for a quick bite. Ordered some Tonkatsu Ramen. It's flavors we're bright and amazing. My partner ordered a Curry Ramen and it also had really good flavor. I don't get over to this area much, but this will be one of my go-to places while in the area. Can't wait to come back and try more meals!

Everything I've gotten from this place is absolutely delicious. The poke tastes fresh and has the perfect amount of seasoning. Wakame salad is excellent. I always get the g special ramen & I don't have the words to describe how delicious it is. To top it all off the customer service is amazing. HIGHLY recommend!!

Cozy atmosphere, nice staff and a deliciously layered bowl of steaming hot ramen. Tasty original sides also available. We didn’t partake of the whiskey but their selection is impressive. Looking forward to enjoying this spot again with friends on a crisp fall or winter day.

This place is *amazing*! 🤩 The food is delicious, and the service is so frontally and lovely. I have significant food sensitivity issues, and they were very kind and accommodating, and helped me figure out what I could eat safely, and made sure I knew all the processes and ingredients that I needed to. Highly recommend!

Great local place with outdoor seating area. Michael the owner is great. Really enjoyed the curry ramen. Pork belly had a beautiful crust. Well done! Will make a point to come back next trip!

Bussin! Nice big bowl of hot Raman. I had the G Special with pork belly. Tender meat melted in my mouth. Service is friendly. Crew had veggie and chicken and liked it a lot. There's a kids menu. Bowls are about $16.00. Lots of people were taking out or getting delivery.
