This place can be mistaken as a tourist trap. However, I got to experience it before the summer craziness and boy was it good. The lobster roll with a side of onion rings was the perfect meal for lunch. I chose to sit inside at the bar. There is also an outside deck which looks lovely for a sunny day. My lobster roll was quite amazing! Before summer pricing is the best around and the taste is spectacular. Staff is friendly and helpful and very attentive. The overall experience was great, the ambiance causal and comforting, and just a great place all around!

Our server, Mason, made the dining experience more enjoyable!! He was extremely informative and quick. The oysters came from the bay about a minute away from the pier where they served us, and we were extremely fresh! In June, the weather was perfect for dining outside. Everything we ordered that night would be recommended. I don't think they have anything on the menu that wouldn't be delicious. The lobster Mac and cheese was outstanding and there was enough on one plate for 2 people. The Lobster was cooked perfectly. Very relaxed and enjoyable experience.

I came here on my last night in Portland and although it was foggy I really enjoyed the look and the feel of the fog. The staff here sat us down with no problem and we’re very pleased to help. I got the fried shrimp and my wife got the fish tacos that were to DIE for and both her and I both agreed the BEST fish tacos we’ve EVER had and to top it off the shrimp tasted very good and fresh. We also had to drinks which were also very good. If I would’ve stood here another night I would’ve came straight back here! The Porthole ROCKS!

One of the absolute best seafood restaurants I’ve ever been to. Everything we ordered was perfect. Wouldn’t change anything. This area is known for clams and they know how to cook them! During our visit, the weather made for a great outdoor dining experience. Would highly recommend if it’s a nice day. In a great location along the waterfront.

It's a local hole in the wall type restaurant and bar. Absolute treasure. The stuffed baked lobster was a brand new experience. I would order it again even though I haven't tried some of the other stuff. We saw a variety of dishes ordered by other customers and everything looked perfect. Happy customers all around.

Loved it here! Came here on the 2nd of January with family. We were quick greeted and taken to a bigger room with a projector since the bar area was full. The lady who greeted us asked me if I wanted to watch the Pats game and she put it on for me. The waiter was really friendly and attentive. I was craving a lobster and my wife a cod sandwich. Both were really good and worth every cent. My kids all ordered chicken fingers with fries. We were all happy. I highly recommend if you're in the area and especially in the summer you can eat outside and enjoy the dockside view.

Food is average; views and vibe are above average, thus 4 stars. Seems more like a tourist destination where you are paying more for the vibe and views rather than the food. The food is satisfactory and the experience is fun. There is a mix of families and friends here as well as a vibrant singles scene with the outdoor bar and live music. We waited about 90 minutes for a table on a Friday night; they don’t take reservations. The wait didn’t bother us as we walked around the downtown area. There are no vibrating alarms to take with you so consider returning every so often to see where you are on the list. We sat at a picnic table and our waiter was attentive and excellent. As mentioned previously, the food was average but the scene was vibrant. Oddly, no masks anywhere to be seen. We felt a little out of palace wearing ours. Also, this restaurant is dog friendly and the waiter brings out a bowl of ice water for the pup. For a family of 5 the bill was $115 which seems about a average.

My first time in Maine and decided to try out the lobster roll I herd so much about, and it was delicious! Definitely worth the time stopping by and trying it. Place was jammed pack on a Friday evening, which am not surprised. My Server was great, provided me with everything I needed while taking care of other customers. Overall I had a great experience, and food was awesome.

About as fresh of a lobster as you can get and surrounded by live music and a great atmosphere. This would be my go to place if you are only in Portland Maine for a small amount of time. We were not able to make lobster fest but this felt like we were at a lobster festival anyway except the prices were more reasonable here then they are at the actual lobster fest. Great selection of brews and a nice view of the water from the high tops. Make sure to get the lobster roll cold with the house made lemon aoli sauce on it. It's a very light addition that doesn't take away from the lobster.

A Portland staple! The Porthole has some of the best raw and friend seafood you can find anywhere. I love their drawn butter lobster roll. The lemon aioli and the mayo lobster rolls are also incredible. The oysters on the half shell are massive and delicious. I can easily take down dozens. I love how much outdoor space they have too. The deck is perfect for nice days and there’s also a ton of seating inside.

Great service and a nice deck seating option. Gluten free bun wasn't tasty, but it was really nice to be able to enjoy a lobster roll in Maine :) there were other gluten free items as well which was a pleasant surprise! Wish I had ordered the summer rolls. Next time!

Amazing food! Up for the weekend and we came for the lobster. Port Hole did not disappoint. Worth every penny. I got the twin lobster, wife got the lobster Mac, and my daughter got fried fish and they substitutes the potato chips for fries. Would definitely recommend again and again!

After trying lobster rolls at a couple of restaurants in Maine, this is the best one. It has a generous amount and tasted fresh. The oysters are really fresh as well. Fish taco was good. Great outdoor view of the wharf.

We love the Porthole! Friendly and attentive service, super fresh food, and good drinks. Each visit has been great and we always love sitting on the (very spacious) patio to watch the sunset. On this visit we ordered the haddock and blueberry cake with ice cream. The haddock was delicious - I always love the thin and crispy breading. As for the blueberry cake - I will never be satisfied with another dessert! My god it was good, we can’t stop thinking about it. Definitely worth the $10. We’ll be back!

Came here with my family and we loved the lobsters! We had twin steamed lobsters and each were juicy and meaty. If you know how to crack open a lobster, come try this place and get your hands dirty. They have appetizers for the vegetarians too like avocado fries, etc. The 21% (give or take) tip was automatically applied though so beware of that. We were a party of 5, ordered around $83 of food which included 2 orders of twin steamed lobsters (comes with potatoes and corn) and an avocado fries.

Best biscuits and gravy I've ever had, great service, and hand mixed chocolate milk! I'm from Oregon on a vacation and nearing the end of it, this is the best food visited so far. Never had biscuits and gravy with so much on it and the eggs were cooked to perfection!! 11/10 would recommend

Awesome breakfast experience. Large portions that were cooked well. The Lobster and Crab Omelette was packed and the Steak and Eggs was done very well. We added a grilled Blueberry muffin instead of toast and did not regret it. Give it a try. Service was very good. Would go again.

We were seated promptly by a pleasant hostess. The restaurant was clean and inviting. The view was very nice of the water. Our waiter was friendly and prompt. We were all very happy with our meals and the service we received.

Friendly attentive service, fresh and delicious seafood, cold beverages (Allagash White on tap with an orange slice hit the spot) with bowls of ice water for the 4-legged guests on the waterside deck all add up to a great summer evening. We all enjoyed the food and our dogs enjoyed the attention from staff and patrons alike.

Ordered the porthole lobster and scallop cakes. I would not recommend. Tasted like stuffing, hardly any meat or scallops in it. The place was packed for a Friday evening with most ppl ordering drinks. Would recommend to come here for drinks and to social only.

Our server, Izzy, was amazing!! She was very attentive and made our morning yesterday for the first stop of our 8th Annual Mom's Day Out. Drinks were accurate and food was hot and delicious. Do not skip this place and I hope you get Izzy as your server. Thank you Izzy!

Beware and review your credit card for funds added by Kylie S. I visited this restaurant on 10/26. We ordered the twin lobster and 12 oysters and a few (3) drinks. We received two single lobsters (someone in the kitchen messed up and gave us someone else's order) and our oysters did not come out until after the food. We were in a good mood and we get it. Mistakes happen. So we didn’t fuss. We ordered another single because we were still hungry. We left a cash tip of $30 (a $20 bill and $10 bill). Lo and behold when i reviewed my credit card the charge was 199.80!! $33 over the actual charge of 166.80. The waitress added an additional $33 to my bill even though i left a cash tip!! That is stealing and fraud!!! Update: It took a month, my credit card company gave me the credit, and after a few weeks the restaurant removed the charge. All has been rectified. This has left a bad experience for me. I applaud the restaurant for making it right.
