Great service, ma and pa kinda place which I loved. Stuffed lobster was great as well as the red pepper salmon. Great portion sizes. The side of mashed could have come with gravy without a charge but they still tasted great. I'm assuming they don't give you gravy because squash was phenomenal and you should just order 2 sides of it instead.

Seafood diner on Commercial St. Came here for an early dinner and there were still quite a few tables seated. Indoor seating only. Credit cards accepted. Metered street parking available further down the road. There are two gender neutral restrooms available. Alcohol is available. They have a variety of desserts (including Whoopie pies). Food-wise, the portions are quite generous. The fisherman’s platter is more than enough for 2-3 people, and had fried scallops, shrimp, oysters, and coleslaw atop a bed of crinkle cut fries. The cocktail sauce had a hint of horseradish, which I really liked. The large clam chowder was super creamy and thick - note that it comes in small and medium sizes as well. The haddock Reuben was a cool riff on a Reuben, as instead of pastrami, the fried haddock added a softer texture that blended well with the Russian dressing and marbled rye. Overall, great value for tasty seafood.

I found this place in my Road Food Book. Once again it didn't disappoint us. Becky's is a nice restaurant that seems to be a favorite place to eat. We went early for breakfast and was seated promptly on the upstairs outdoor patio. Our waitress was very friendly, prompt and helpful. Our food was very good. Everyone left full and happy. I love the coffee mug and was so happy with this place I bought a coffee mug.My son-n-law bought a bottle of the hot sauce because he really liked that. We would highly recommend eating here even if you would have to wait for a seat.

We had breakfast here while staying in Portland. It right on the main street along the waterfront. Nice little place with a good amount of seating. A lot of food choices and coffee, juice, soda etc. I had the Maine wild blueberry pancakes and they were delicious! The waitress was friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend.

I had an absolutely delightful experience at Becky's in Portland, Maine. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the tone for a memorable meal. The menu was a true treat, offering a wide array of options ranging from classic comfort foods to more inventive choices. Opting for their signature dishes, I tried both the Lobster Benedict Eggs and the Lobster Roll. The Lobster Benedict Eggs were a revelation - the perfectly poached eggs paired harmoniously with the succulent lobster, all topped with a delectable hollandaise sauce. Equally impressive was their Lobster Roll, with generous chunks of tender lobster meat nestled in a buttery, toasted roll. The attention to detail in both presentation and flavor was evident. Portion sizes were generous, and the reasonable prices made the dining experience even more enjoyable. What truly stood out, beyond the delicious food, was the impeccable service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and ready to offer recommendations, which added a personal touch to the meal. Becky's is undoubtedly a must-visit in Portland, whether you're a local or a visitor. Their commitment to providing a memorable dining experience shines through. I'll definitely be making a return trip to savor their culinary delights again!.

Visited at 7 PM on a Sunday. Everywhere else nearby had hour+ long waits. We were able to park for free and we (luckily) found a spot. There was a 30 minute wait for a table, however the bar seating was open so my husband and I were able to get a seat immediately. Service was impeccable and so nice. Now onto the food -- the Lobster roll cost $29. Large Clam Chowder cost $12. Both were very good! The fries were delicious and super crispy. The side salad was also fresh and the ranch on the side was good. Would absolutely come back and would recommend to anyone visiting!

We had major issues and I would not come back again. Overall, I think this restaurant seems overhyped. This place is a diner with history and specializes in seafood and lobster. We found the food is overpriced for the taste and quality. There was a long waiting list to be seated. The ambiance was very loud and chaotic. The waiters were rushing to clean the tables and pushing/pulling the chairs and making a lot of noise on top of the loud white noise. We got a empty plate for sharing a salad which was obviously dirty. We ordered desserts to go and later realized the conditions they were in near a crowded sink with bunch of dirty dishes. A waiter dropped the bucket of knives for cutting the desserts on the ground. She collected them from the ground and put them back! I think the waiters were too busy to focus on hygiene. Bread pudding was too dry and overwhelmingly sweet.

Great low key, normal diner! Too many fancy places in Portland, this place is nice, and down to earth. I had the hamburger steak, it was great! Lobster roll was good too. Friendly staff!

Lovely area and restaurant atmosphere. Food is fresh and tastes great. Service is nice but not too attentive. Prices are not awful. Would go back for the combo of decent prices, decent food, and nice location / view. The Good: Great food. The beer battered haddock sandwich was perfect, although I generally prefer blackened. Love the atmosphere and seeing the water from the top deck. Prices were better than I expected. The Meh: Service is nice but not very attentive. No refills the entire time I was there. Not sure if short staffed or what, but did not see our wait staff very much. The Bad: None.

I've been coming here since my college days in 2015. I have loved it every time. Becky's always has friendly staff, nice atmosphere and good food. Unlike many diners in the area you don't get an upset stomach when you eat here. You leave feeling full and good. Thank you Becky's! Always a fan favorite and I always come back.

Not sure if there's always a queue here (I wouldn't be surprised if there is) or it's just because of the holidays. Anyway, the 20mins wait for a table was totally worth it. Lobster rolls come with fries and coleslaw and it's 1/3lb overflowing from the bread! It can come with either mayo or butter, we asked and were recommended to do butter so that's what you see in the photo. Poured the whole thing on the roll! The lobster is obviously very fresh and I don't think they add anything to it, it's just very fresh lobster on a roll and it's really really good! We also tried the clam chowder which was a nice starter and we asked for the best desert of the day and they gave us blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream. I think both are home made, the blueberries still have their shape! 10/10 must try and will come back when we're in the vicinity of Portland again!

Our first stop in Maine and will probably be a tradition going forward. Super nice wait staff. Food was great and good servings of lobster make it worth your dollar. Lobster BLT was very tasty and the wife’s lobster omlette was very good as well. They turn over tables quick so don’t fret if you see a long line

Very good food, very good service, very good take-home desserts. I don't like lobster but my family does and they raved about the lobster roll. The clam chowder was the best I've ever eaten. It was a very nice visit.

My husband picked this place for our party of four because it was close to our hotel. It did not disappoint! We had a short wait, as the end of the lunch folks cleared out... We loved it! The charming atmosphere, the waitress, the food .... inviting, friendly, clean, tasty; yes and yes. Another lobster roll before we left Maine - it was one of the best I had in our 5 day visit. Going through Portland? Be sure to stop in for a bite at Becky's!!

A go to place for weekend breakfast or a weekday meal. Coffee is always hot and fresh, the cakes and pies are fantastic, and the servers are always friendly and warm. Their clam chowder is so good I forget I’m severely lactose intolerant. I’ll learn one day, but it won’t be today.

First of all I want to say thank you Crystal for telling me about this place!! Would have never knew the gem that was hidden here: Went to spot Sunday morning at 7am, seemed like the perfect time. We immediately sat down and ate within 15mins. The food was so tasty and different… I’ve never had anything like it. I love eggs Benedict but with LOBSTER??? It was just OUT OF THIS WORLD!! I left feeling light and full. The Market price was 29.00. The only I didn’t particularly like was the potatoes. But I definitely overlooked them because the lobster eggs benny was delicious! RECOMMEND 10/10!

Had the hot (melted butter) and cold (Mayo) lobster rolls. Best lobster hot lobster roll I’ve had!! Large chunks of lobster in the rolls. I’m nowhere near a French fry connoisseur, but the French fries were really crispy on the outside, and soft and fluffy on the inside. Market price for a lobster roll was $30. I like the feeling inside the diner, it had a small-town, casual vibe. I’d visit again if in Portland!

Great place! Casual dining but incredible quality ingredients! The lobster is fresh and they serve you a lot of lobster! I had to remove half of the lobster to pick up the roll to eat it! Everything was delicious! Lobster Benedict was incredible too! French toast is good I just wish they cut the toast in half but I guess I’m just being picky lol. Excellent food I’m looking forward to going back again! Update! Went back again! Definitely get the blueberry pancakes!!!! Soooo good! Also get the small fruit bowl!! It’s huge and the fruit is endless and fresh! Great good great service!

Waited an hour for breakfast and was slightly underwhelming! Tasted like any other diner but I they were known for their lobster items on the menu. The lobster didn’t belong on the lobster benedict. I would just get the lobster roll next time. Blueberry pancakes were good. We got maple syrup for an extra $2.

Not my first time here, but I had a much better experience. The place was less crowded and chaotic. The food was good and I had my first omelette there. Very good and will return to try more of the menu.

This place was recommended by a coworker. I braved the freezing rain and icy sidewalks to grab a bite to eat from the diner. It was cold so I had my mind set on some chowder as a starter. I browsed the menu only to realize that the chowder contained PORK. I DO NOT EAT PORK. Besides, I'm in Maine so I definitely did not expect so see chowder containing pork on the menu. This was extremely disappointing and left a bad taste in my mouth. I decided on the haddock because I was hungry. It came with fries and coleslaw. I appreciated that it was fried crispy but it lacked flavour and seasoning; nothing spectacular. I will say that the canceaux sauce was amazing, especially on the fries. I give this place a solid 2 ⭐ for effort.

Becky’s was great! I had the Commercial Street Sandwich w/ Home Fries and my husband had the Bacon, 2 Eggs, & Toast meal. Both were delicious! My sandwich was perfectly buttery and the bacon was crisp - I loved every bite and you can’t beat the price ($7). One random thing we really liked.. the coffee mugs kept the coffee hot for a long time - I normally drink a few cups at a diner because you don’t want it to get cold, but here I had my one cup the whole meal! It might seem like a small detail, but it made for a great first morning coffee. We were there on Thursday at 11:30am and waited about 30 minutes for 2 people. So be prepared to wait but it’s absolutely worth it!

True diner through and through. You can feel it in their bones. The coffee was spot on. We got the wharf breakfast. The Italian ciabatta bread was perfectly grilled. The homemade corned beef hash was so meaty and tasty. Something I’m weary of at a lot of places. The star of the show that we came for was the blueberry pancakes. They did not let us down!

Cute diner we just stumbled across (unfamiliar with the area). We were seated quickly and noticed the abundance of staff which was a pleasant surprise. The broiled seafood dinner was very good. The turkey dinner was so good I couldn't get a picture of it before it was devoured! We would definitely go back!

This is an amazing place to get really good food. Small diner atmosphere with just delicious meals. No white table cloth, no fancy plates or plating, but awesome flavors. As good as I've had in Portland. Do not miss this jem.

Oh my goodness! This place was it! We walked over for dinner on a Thursday and were seated immediately. The clam chowder was AMAZING! For entrees we tried the seafood casserole, lobster roll, crab roll, and the fried haddock with fries. EVERYTHING was good. They also have a ton of desserts and those were just as good! Try the blueberry cake. Don’t miss this little spot if you are in the area. Sophia was the sweetest server.

I ate at Becky’s for Breakfast and Lunch. The food was amazing and both breakfast and lunch service was great. Kate in the morning and Morgan in the evening took great care of me. They were very personable and fast. Highly recommend Becky’s

Such a lovely diner experience! Expect a wait *we waited about 45 min during peak lunch time on a weekend* but it'll be well worth it! The food is classic and simple and delicious. The service was wonderful and you feel right at home!

Becky’s Dinner was outstanding! I was lucky and by myself, so I was able to walk right up to the counter and grab a spot. However, there was an almost hour-long wait for tables for groups. Just an FYI. The service was great. Given plenty of time to review the menu and when my food was delivered, the server suggested a local sweet-chili hot sauce (Captain Mowatt’s Canceaux Sauce) that really good on my order. Now, this was my first meal in Maine, so I had to go with lobster anything. Ended up getting the Lobster Omelette and wow - delicious! Yes, it was expensive (lobster was “market price”) but it was worth it. They loaded the omelette with lobster and each bite had a nice chunk of lobster meat. I added spinach to my omelette and it went perfect with the Swiss cheese. All in all, I really enjoyed Becky’s Diner. Would gladly go again on my next trip to Portland, ME.

We were told that this is a breakfast place we absolutely had to try when we were here because it's a loan favorite and not really a diner. It's definitely a diner, in every way we could see. Our server, Allison, was fantastic though! She was friendly, knowledgeable and quick. But the food was lackluster, at best. The home fries had absolutely no seasoning on them and were a bit soft. Both of our dishes were okay, but nothing noteworthy and no seasoning really on any of it. The coffee was extremely acidic and not flavorful at all, but they do have almond milk as an option to half and half, so that was a bonus. After all of the places we've been able to enjoy on our trip, this one was a big disappointment. It might be a great place for a lot of other people who prefer more standard fare, but we aren't those people. So this place just wasn't for people like us, who have more discerning palates.

We are staying nearby and stopped in for late breakfast. Super friendly and efficient staff, I got the large fruit and yogurt/granola bowl and was I wowed! My wife was super excited to find 2 kinds of hash (homemade and canned, she likes the latter lol). We ended up coming the next day and will probably again before we leave. What a great value and vibe! Pro tip: sit near the kitchen, they play music and sing along. 😀

Really great food. We had to wait a while but it was worth it. Homemade corned beef hash was phenomenal. The special was blue berry French toasts. It was great as well. We will be back in the summer.

Clearly a local favorite. Staff and patrons appear to know each other quite well. Nice atmosphere, friendly, welcoming. I had the homemade corned beef hash for breakfast which was excellent and made my morning. Prices were reasonable and portions were generous.

My friends and I sampled a wide variety of their offerings on the fried fisherman's platter and several breakfast options. Everything was superb. We chose this because only half our group likes seafood. The seafood is sublime.m, simply immaculate, so fresh, so well prepared. But the others were truly satisfied too. I'm gonna make it a point to come back every time I'm in Maine.

It was a delicious meal. A definite must!. It is a busy place but worth the wait. Staff are very nice. Also, try their homemade cakes. Deliciousness!
