THE reptile store to go to! Cheap good quality feeders, and knowledgeable friendly staff. I have a lilac morph corn snake that was purchased from this store 5 years ago. She's stunning and an absolute picture of health!

I have bought all 3 of my reptiles from tropical hut since I was 18 years old. I am now 24 And all 3 of my reptiles are thriving. I was so scared of reptiles and that was the reason why I decided to buy them to conquer my fear. The 1st reptile I ever bought was a leopard gecko that I named Cleopatra because she Has Golden skin with lavender spots. I bought a crested gecko when he was on sale and I named him Vulcan because he looked like he was on fire. And I recently bought a Corn snake named Helios who is growing Amazingly and feeding every single week since I have bought him. This pet shop knows how to breed The reptiles and I'm sure They know what they're doing when it comes to their other animals that they specialize in as well. I will always go to this pet shop to get a new animal because I know I will begin a quality animal that is healthy and I will get all of the information I will possibly need to make sure I take care of the animal and give it the best life if possibly can. Enjoy these photos of my reptiles from this pet shop after years of ownership they are doing splendid.

I got a beautiful ball python here, as well as some supplies. they've got a good selection of supplies, and have some amazing morphs available. it has been about 8 months since I brought him home and he's doing great! I'm glad that they have healthy snakes who make great pets. first photo is the day I brought him home, the second and third are more recent. he has grown so much!

Customer service was okay, snakes were kept in cramped compartments. The snake I had bought there was much too small for her age, a corn snake that was claimed 10 months old but only 17 inches long. I don't know if this does anything besides slow growth as the snake is in good condition other than that. I had no problem feeding within 2 days of buying her. The other reptiles didn't seem cramped. Also noticed that the mice were just kept in tanks without hides or anything to run in.

Decided to pop in because I was in the area and wanted to supported a small business. Decent prices considering it is a small business in Portland. The staff was super friendly and they had a lot! However I'm just disappointed ALL the bearded dragons were missing the tips of their tails and were charging more than full price for them. Poor husbandry on their end and could have easily been avoided. Do not purchase a reptile, they all look sick and lot of changes were dirty. Everyone talking about how cute my dog was didnt distract from the fact none of their ball pythons got any belly warmth and are kept in clear critter keepers and cannot hide and are automatically stressed.

Look at my gorgeous healthy fish. I’ve been going to this place for more than 20 years. I appreciate their expertise, their calm advice. They have a good selection of plants for the aquarium too.

One of the best family owned petstore in the area. They have a collection of exo terra terrariums and everything you need for a one stop shop. No more shopping at amazon and online for that one thing you couldnt find in a local shop.

This little pet shop is wonderful and truly shows why small businesses are best. I bought a small fish tank set up here and it proved to be extremely challenging to get the water quality right. I killed a few fish and instead of them just selling me more fish they worked with me hand in hand to get my nitrite, ammonium, and oh levels right. They let me bring in water and tested for me over and over. They even ended up giving me a bag full of their own aquarium water to help inoculate my tank with the right bacteria. Then, when I finally got my water up to par, they gave me store credit from the fish that died to put towards my new fish:) it was a frustrating experience getting a new tank right, but they were super patient and extremely helpful every step of the way. You just don’t see customer experiences like that anymore. Thank you Tropical Hut! You’ve got my undying loyalty!

The worst customer service I have ever received. I had Previously purchased a gold fish here for my son and wanted to get his fish a friend. And the sales person basically refused to sell us the fish. And insinuated that they are stinky and “ dirty” and grow to be 8 inches. As if we wouldn’t get a tank to accommodate said fish. Our other one is still well and alive lol. I love supporting local but passive aggressiveness is not it for me. Do better

Rosie was so wonderful and patient. She is a wealth of knowledge. She should get a raise just for putting up with me and my never ending questions. We got our first bearded dragon, named Donuts. We love her!

Went in once before, had exceptional service, talked to a gal who gave me great pointers and seemed to have the snakes interest at heart. Reptiles all look healthy and well taken care of. My second trip, not as great. The woman we spoke with seemed to only view the snakes as decor, and recommended against buying a larger enclosure as they "are happy in the small containers we have them in now"

Highly recommend for anyone that has questions about reptiles or amphibians. They were not pushy sales people and love their animals and are very knowledgeable. Just what you need when your family is investigating a non standard pet! Details: My son wanted a salamander for Xmas. I knew nothing and after 20 minutes of an internet search all I knew was that it was a possible beginner pet but not what they needed in any real detail. I needed a real person who knew what I didn’t know I needed to know. The lady there (sadly I can’t remember her name) was fabulous. She helped with all my questions. What do they eat, what habitats do they need, what can I get here vs out in the woods by my house, how long will they live , how often do things need to be cleaned etc. and that there are no breeders near us. They were even able to tell me where my son could catch one and even which one was NOT safe to keep! I was able to get all of the basic set up from the shop for a reasonable price. I highly recommend this shop.

Staff was friendly and informed, however the snakes were all kept in tiny Tupperware containers with no hides and no room to move around. I never thought I’d say this but the snakes at Petsmart have a significantly higher quality of life than at this store. Spend your money elsewhere if you actually care about reptiles

As a south Floridian I find tropical hut to be the best pet store in Portland. Healthy feeder mice/rats. Decent fish, reptile and amphibian collection. Friendly service that recognizes you. Also it smells better then zebra grocer couple blocks away. Lol

I have bought several snakes here. All healthy quality animals that are bred by the owner. Two of my babies are now over 15 years old. Great selection of terrarium setups and products. Great staff and owner.

Picked up a lovely cup of springtails and dwarf purple isopods for my terrarium. The shop came recommended after checking several local places without luck. It was a little busy, so I didn't get a chance to see many of the creatures in stock but I know where to go for future purchases.

Wonderful little indie shop. Might not look like much from the outside--check out that vintage signage!--and if you're used to shopping at garishly-lit chain pet stores then you may find it dark & cramped in comparison, but that's really NBD. Great selection, staffed by friendly & knowledgeable people who are always super helpful & accommodating. (And for anyone complaining about small enclosures, they have a very dedicated customer base and most creatures don't spend long there. It's pretty obvious that these folks care too much to let any animal put up w/substandard conditions.)

I am so grateful for this place. They have everything you need, plus have always been so kind and helpful with any questions. Why is everyone who works there a badass? Love it. Please think about the long term commitment of owning reptiles and only get one if you intend to take care of it extremely well ❤️❤️❤️
