The library architecture is really cool. Kinda like a little museum with artifacts and books. Free to go in and used bathroom (maybe that's why i saw many homeless around there). It's nice to see there's a quiet place to sit down and get loss in our own world - in the middle of a busy city.

I love love LOVE this library! I know people are upset about the homeless but isn’t that most of Portland right now? Plus that’s something that can’t be helped. It is a beautiful building with plenty of books. It seemed quiet to me and as a student that’s something I look for. Shoutout to the librarian Alan who took time to chat about some of my more particular interests! All of the librarians are kind and helpful, so don’t be afraid to ask them for help! My only issue is I might recommend taking public transit. Driving is difficult due to lack of parking. All in all a great place to learn and spend time. One of my favorite places in Portland.

Similar to what the internet was before say 1992 or so. Epic, iconic, largely important. A central hub with accessible knowledge for all who knows how to and has the time to read. All literary works are free to rent and there is also free annoymous internet browsing. Free WiFi, three floors and plenty of space to walk and peruse in a huge historic building surrounded by great oak trees and street car rails. I would recommend a trip here if only for the aesthetical quality. Everything seems to be an antique, the pink vaulted ceilings, furniture. If you're in downtown, pop in and do a lap around all three floors!

this library is great, but I’m so disappointed by the choice to close it for such long periods of time, and especially over the summer. I understand that renovations take time, but we’ve had record breaking heat waves for the last few years and our community - especially our unhoused neighbors - depend on the library for a safe, air conditioned place we can go without spending money. it’s a wonderful resource and a lifesaver (literally, given the last few summers) for those of us who can’t afford anywhere else - when it’s open.

Computer access is available in the building now. A full-service library, in a beautifully restored historic building. Helpful and friendly staff. Don't hesitate to ask for help, because it will be cheerfully offered. New plaza seems to be incongruous.

A place to charge one's phone. I see a lot of whining about homeless people. Yes, we are here but we are not bothering anyone. The library is a public institution, the public comes here. OMG not that!

Gorgeous building inside and out. While in town we used a study room and were offered a novel that they were giving out as a reading initiative! That was awesome. Entire staff was wonderful and helpful.

Such a charming building, worth visiting just for the architecture and the exhibits. The library provides so many fabulous services. The staff are helpful and they leave you alone if that's what you need. There is a good selection of sheet music, and even more treasures in the reference section.

Nice public line art branch with internet stations and of course, books. Stop by to check out the historic architecture.

3 lovely spacious floors of books, audio books, movies, computers, art, and more. I love that there are kids' books in many languages!

This location has been my family’s library for years and we love it!! My kids always manage to find at least ten pounds of books each in the huge children’s section to bring home.

Fabulous as usual, the upgrades finished and ongoing are welcomed ones to be sure. We Portlanders love the central library especially. Thank you Multnomah County Library system!

Great selection of books in the Multnomah county library system, and an awesome movie selection.. I wish the book store was still open but we can't have it all one of my favorite spots

A lifesaver during Covid. Staff was very creative in getting books to you safely. And a joy to use during Before Times
