Actually in Renovation!!!! But the temporary market is not far away from the old one. It is worth it to visit it and get a smoothie, or local delicious stuff to take or sitting there for lunch or coffee. Just walking around is a nice experience since you feel near to the natural way to buy groceries with no packages and stuff. An enjoyment for the eyes!!! There is even a pharmacy in there with nice natural stuff.

It is still open at a temporary location - search for Porto Baixe mall. There’s an address for the temporary location posted on the market hall which is incorrect. Great shops with local produce, meat, seafood, prepared food and souvenirs. Very few tourists here, compared to just outside of it! Highly recommend Nelson’s leitao too.

This is definitely worth visiting. They have several stalls with fresh produce, and typical food from Portugal. You can find a bit everything: the typical delicious canned food (e.g. sardines, seafood), dried and crystallized fruits, an amazing selection of mushrooms, a good assortment of olives, cheeses from different regions in Portugal, fresh fruits (some very good options to eat on the go), flowers… It is a great place to go to buy great souvenirs from Portugal, it is a bit pricier than in other places in the city, but if you are short in time, then this is a good place where you can find a bit of everything

Lovely market. Prime location. Very clean. But you won’t find any locals here. This is purely catered for tourists. It’s a good place to stop for a glass of wine and a snack.

The orginal place is closed for renovation. The market is moved to La Vie mall (where decathlon is). Market is clean. There are stalls for dry food, fruits, fresh seafood, frozen seafood, flowers and also some eating stalls. Check out the variety of nuts and dried preserved fruits, cheap & good!

The building looks massive and beautiful from the exterior. It's currently undergoing renovations and the market is moved to La Vie shopping mall in the basement floor right under Decathlon

Mercado do Bolhão is a nice little market in Porto that feels very tourist friendly. You can find a lot of fresh products like fruit, fish, and meat. The market has many shops selling products like cheeses, wines, olive oils, and traditional crafts. I didn't have an opportunity to eat at any of the restaurants there, but I've only heard great things about them. Overall, I had a great experience at the market; there's a lot to see.

Discover an incredible market with a variety of stalls offering delicious food, refreshing drinks, vibrant flowers, and unique souvenirs. We enjoyed amazingly affordable drinks and fresh fruits during our visit. The market also boasts a delightful selection of tapas, providing a perfect opportunity to explore and savor different flavors.

Small and clean market! I really enjoyed the fruits and juice here! There are also shops where you can enjoy pasta made on the spot with cheese, or a glass of wine with simple food.

It's under construction 🏗️🚧 and I think it'll open after Summer and will be a sight to watch for. Wait for the people, taking selfies and posting the Bolhão Market. More photos will be posted. Stay tuned.

Large selection of vendors from everything from fresh fruits, flowers, vegetables, meats and seafood to baked goods, crockery and condiments. A nice place to browse and get some produce. The mushroom stand in particular was a highlight and had a great selection!

Huge place with lots of space. Go here if you want to buy fruits, souvenirs, cheese and wine. You can purchase wine and cheese tasting in some of the stalls.

❤️ that it’s so clean and tidy. There are quite a good variety of things from fresh fruits and vegetables to unique sliders to port wine to fresh seafood. So much things to consume within such a short period of time. Recommend to come earlier in the morning. When we’re about to leave, the crowd starts coming in.

Such a great place to buy fresh products and fish 🐟 it has stalls for chocolates 🍫, wine 🍷, meat 🥩 , fish 🐠 and many more. A really interesting place. Old market where you can feel the vibes of the city and it’s locals. It has a bit of everything, fruits, vegetables, fish, a couple restaurants and souvenir shops as well where the souvenirs have an affordable price. A cute mug was only 3€ there. I recommend to spend a few minutes walking around it, and also going to the second floor if you access through the main one to have a different point of view.

Lovely market in a convenient location in the middle of Porto. It's mainly food products like meat, fish, seafood, vegetables, baked goods, fruit, sweets and some souvenirs. It's aimed at tourists but there is nothing wrong with that and there are many locals who shop there as well. All the products are top quality and very nicely arranged. The prices are similar to what you will find elsewhere in Porto. The sellers are very friendly and most of them speak English so it's easier to shop. The market has gone through extensive renovations and it looks beautiful. This is a great place to shop and to come and sample some of the great food that this city has to offer.

For a fun informal lunch, do consider coming here. You can pick up cheeses, meats, tapas, fruit and all sorts of local delicacies and fresh foods, all available to be eaten here, or taken home to enjoy later. This also includes a nice wine, beer, port or freshly made juice. Grab some food, wander the stalls and pick up few bargains. P.s. Did I mention it is the cleanest markets I’ve ever been to? High recommend for any visitor to Porto!

Beautiful market, feels very authentic, lots of mixture of food, drink, flowers etc. Lots of fresh food to try and they sell wine by the glass which you can walk around the market with for €2.50!! They have lovely looking restaurants upstairs too so worth checking out too. It is busy as it's on the touristy list but well worth visiting!

The market does have a number of vendors, with many selling a variety of food and produce. However, I feel that this market is more like a tourist trap. Many things are overpriced, particularly the seafood stalls. Most seafood is selling at 50% to 80% more than at Pingo Doce down the road, and it's not as fresh. The chicken on display in the meat stall looked dry and old. Nevertheless, it offers an opportunity for shoppers to get a good feel for the local food and produce.

Today, I visited the market in the center of Porto. I did it to avoid regretting a missed opportunity. It's clear that this location caters to tourists, with tourist prices. I won't say the market is a must-visit, but 5 euros for a glass of port wine is a bit much. However, I tried it and didn't regret it. The ultimate choice is yours, as you can buy a bottle of port wine in a store and enjoy a larger quantity.

Bolhão Market has a rich history dating back to the late 19th century. It has been a bustling marketplace for generations and is considered one of Porto's most emblematic markets. The market building itself is a notable example of neoclassical architecture. Its distinctive facade, featuring a large wrought-iron entrance, adds to the market's charm. The market is home to a variety of stalls selling fresh produce, meats, seafood, flowers, and traditional Portuguese products. It's a great place to explore local flavors and ingredients. Bolhão Market is a fantastic spot to purchase authentic Portuguese goods, including cheeses, cured meats, fresh fruits, and regional specialties. Vendors often offer tastings, allowing visitors to sample local products.. Within and around Bolhão Market, there are also small cafes and eateries where visitors can enjoy traditional Portuguese dishes. These places often provide a cozy setting to savor local flavors. Bolhão Market is not just a marketplace; it's a cultural and historical landmark that reflects the city's traditions and the importance of local markets in Portuguese culture. Bolhão Market has long been a must-visit for both locals and tourists seeking an authentic market experience. While the market has faced challenges and discussions about its future, it remains an integral part of Porto's cultural and culinary identity.

Love visiting this place! Great for sampling, tasting, snacking. Fresh foods, vegetables, fruits, wine, seafood (oysters, urchin, sushi) charcuterie, desserts and more at fair prices.Very clean market, not congested on a February afternoon. Would be a great rain day stop. Close enough to visit train station as added stop.

(Translated by Google) Fantastic bazaar in the center of Porto. A two-level one with lots of stalls that change with a whole range of colors during the season. If you are interested in good-looking vegetables or juicy fruit, or maybe fish or meat, you can find and buy everything here. If, however, you are not interested in shopping, it is still worth a walk and feel the atmosphere, because it is a place teeming with life. Of course, as for every bazaar, I recommend going here early. PS. My photos taken before the pandemic. (Original) Fantastyczny bazarek w centrum Porto. PS. So exciting to see the new market. It's a short hop from home on the metro with direct access from the Bolhão metro station into the lower area of the market. Lovely selection of vegetables, fruit, nuts and bread as well as the opportunity to get a cup of tea before heading home. It rained while we were there, and the place was nicely sheltered. Great way to shop and practice Portuguese at the same time! Will be making this part of my regular routine.

I believe this place has a lot of potential but it’s not exploited fully! Very basic minimal style and lots of spots are empty, also prices a bit higher than rest of Porto, I believe the place is new and still need to get its own character.

Absolutely fabulous Market right opposite the best Pattisseri/ coffee shop in Porto. Everything from Salted cod, fabulous selection of oil, more spices than I personally have ever seen, wine stalls, if you are a cheese lover you are gonna love this. Nice tourist market. Completely restaurated, very neat. Lots of local food but tourist oriented, don't look for the authentic old fashioned Portuguese farmer's market here. Everything is good quality, friendly and passionate vendors who speak enough English to help you out. Top floor also holds restaurants which we did not try out. Clean and convenient bathrooms, broad alleys in the shade, several trash cans keep it tidy

Large market with a huge selection of produce. Tapas, snacks, drinks and a number of restaurants are also available inside the market. Worth a visit if stopping by. Be warned that prices are little on the higher side for tapas but otherwise it's decent. Crowed during the weekends so be prepared.

Such a good selection of healthy, fresh products straight from the farmers or producers. Don't forget to leave some extra tip, vegetables are really too cheap.

Mercado Central de Porto was under renovation. The visit was in the temporary space. Everything very clean and organized but does not have that atmosphere of municipal markets. The market is a place anyone need to go even if you don’t plan to buy anything, it’s just beautiful. It’s full of local products and great quality!

Well organized and extremely clean market, with pleasant aromas, delicious fruits and lots of good stuff! It's worth walking around the stalls and looking at the variety of goods... and literally looking around because the prices are very high. Thought this is a market for tourists only as I don't think local people shop in such an expensive place every day. Other than that, nice place, nice to walk around and very beautiful!

Este mercado de acero y hormigón fue construido en el siglo XIX y es uno de los imprescindibles que ver en Oporto. Por desgracia nos lo encontramos cerrado por obras de rehabilitación. Esperamos que pronto pueda ser visitado .

market beautifully coloured! the only regret was that for all the small food vendors there were no "sit" where tired tourists could sit make simply taste, may have had to walk & eat? a business strategy perhaps......In the end we decided to go outside... to a restaurant where we can sit and eat....

Such a beautiful place to spend some time and shop around fresh delicious foods. Don’t advise going on weekends because there’s a lot of tourists. Definitely try out the delicious juices and pastries.

Recently renovated market, that is centrally located and mostly for tourist. It has a lot of vendor selling everything from prepared foods to produces and fruits to saviors and more. They have a limited amount of seats and tables for you to enjoy your purchase at the market. We really enjoyed a stroll here. It wasn't very crowded when we went (weekday around lunch) it was a lot of fun interacting with the local vendors and trying a little bit here and there. the top floor seems like they will house some restaurants but none seem to be opened yet when we visit. Defiantly worth checking out if you are every in Porto.

Great organization of the Market and a great view from the upper floor. It had many elevators. Very clean spaces and with a variety of shops, from the flowers' stands, where passing by was a delight of senses, to the great fruits stands with also ready to eat mixed fruits in big plastic glasses just for 2.5 euros. Getting a glass of Wine for 2.5 euros and going around the stands drinking it to then return the glass to the bar was the main trend. Different choices for food from fresh raw fish and sardines to pancakes, pastries and crepes. I saw mostly tourists. The service was very nice in different stands. Very clean toilets with a dedicated spot to change babies diapers. I would recommend it for a nice short break from and also to try/get some specialties for yourself or as gifts.

Nice market selling a mixture of foods to eat there as well as stuff to take home. The dragon fruit and coco smoothie was so good as well as all the other bakery items! A good place to get presents as a tourist

Best food experience in Porto during our trip. Good variety of vendors selling meats (cured and raw), fresh produce, sandwiches, coffee, pastries, as well as souvenirs, and specialty foods. Best way to enjoy is buy a coffee, look around, and once you are done, get yourself a sandwich with one of the cured meats, or meat pies.

Plenty of stalls selling lots of tasty food, drinks, fruit and veg, sweets and you buy sample boards of cheese, meats, oysters and all kinds of tasty treats. There are also plenty of stalls selling traditional souvenirs. We only found out about the market on our last day. We will definitely visit here again to browse eat and drink.

Recently renovated market, beautifully done. Amazing amount of permanent stalls with fresh local produce. Visit early morning to buy fruit, bread, cheese, and of course pastries! Have a breakfast there and really pick up the local atmosphere and wonderful smells food. People were really helpful, friendly and amazing nearly all stands spoke English when we tried speaking Anglo-Portuguese. A very old garden shop Hortico is located southwest corner on the building well worth a visit the senior gentleman obviously loves plants and gardens.

I was able to visit this historic market in the evening and it is a wonderful place. From fruit to seafood, from cheese to wine. You can walk with your glass and cheese plate in your hand, browse the stalls and shop. Or you can have your pasta prepared in the wheel of cheese and go to the stall with olives. There are also stalls selling birch and flowers. You can have a chocolate crepe prepared or try local flavors from the mini bakery. The cheese and seafood stalls were my favorite... by the way, there are tables and stools at the entrance of the market, if you are lucky you may come across an empty one.

Lovely market in the heart of Porto. I was so surprised to see how clean and well organized it is. There are many types of products you can find here and what I liked the most was that I was able to try a lot of the food and drinks. Prices are reasonable for a visit. My advice for you is to come here when you are a bit hungry to be able to try the local food.

Mercado Bolhao has had a total rehaul and is now a very polished version of itself. The fruits and veg shops are a delight . Lots of fresh juices too. Great place for visitors to try small portions of local produce and hot food items. They also have a vegan outlet here. Lovely place for lunch when exploring Porto. Do try their restaurants on the upper floors if you want to dine in, sitting down properly.

The market has been beautifully restored and houses a wonderful array of fresh local produce and delicatessen products. This is most definitely worth the visit. Go hungry so you can enjoy some of the food and drinks on offer. Exploring the market, chatting to friendly store owners and sampling the food on offer is an incredible experience and one we will repeat when next we are in Porto.
