I see why this place has a perfect score of 5/5 on Google. The Door was the best meal we had in Porto. You can tell the dishes were made by trained chefs with a lot of creativity to make contemporary and delicious dishes, also celebrating the diverse cultures chefs bring to the kitchen. I particularly appreciate the complexities in the flavours, plating presentation without being pretentious. Service was absolutely excellent. Staff patiently explained the food/beverage menu with a very positive energy. (Gin cocktail was a perfect start, and we got nice desert liquor from the staff to end our meal) Chef came to the table to explain what’s in the dishes. It was a very satisfying and memorable dining experience.

The young staff brings vibrancy and creativity rarely found unless your paying 2-3 times more. The dishes are incredibly well thought out and balanced in ways to create the perfect bites. All the organic wines are so wonderful ways to try multiple glasses or a bottle that's unique.

What an experience we had at The Door. The staff is incredible and the food is next level! You are greeted with a drink at the door and the staff is so attentive to ensure you are happy with the meal. They are quick to recommend food and drink choices and ensure you are well taken care of. Be sure to make a reso to ensure you get a table. We will 1000000% be back :)

Best meal we have had in Portugal so far. I won’t bore you with a long winded review because most other reviews do a great job describing this place. Just know Pato and the team are extremely passionate at what they do and this place has one of the best atmospheres in the city, very welcoming and laid back. Their food is very elevated yet comforting and approachable. Every dish we ordered was extremely well thought out and well executed. Their wine list and drink menus are great as well. We will definitely be coming back again before we leave Porto. To all the crew, thank you for the great conversations and it was a pleasure getting to know you guys. With the talent all of you have I know success will only grow in your futures.

The service details were impeccable - from the moment you arrive, you’re greeted with your own nameplate at your table to the staff constantly checking in and seeing how your experience was. The meat and cheese board was top notch (great value too!) and we finished with the fois gras - all the dishes complimented the flavours so well. Would highly recommend to all! Thank you for the lovely experience.

I found a real jem during my stay in Porto! The Door is absolutely sublime! The food, service and minimalist decor speaks volumes. It's a five star restaurant without being pretentious (they had the best of Queen playing in the background while dining, very cool) The dishes are little works of art, the service was attentive and efficient, and the price point is shockingly inexpensive! The owners are passionate about there work! Even after paying, one of the owners came to my table not once, but twice with two different types of liqueurs to try. It felt like I was visiting a friend's home not a restaurant. Don't miss an opportunity to dine here!!! Reservations are recommended!

Absolutely phenomenal. A young group from Argentina that have mastered their craft. A beautiful venue, incredible friendly staff and a meal that I will dream of for a long time. House infused passion fruit gin cocktail, carpaccio and foie gras with osetra caviar to blow your mind. No doubt one of the best restaurants in Porto, do not miss!

This place is a real find. The staff were absolutely on point - attentive, friendly (they ask your names and have theirs on their shirts). Cocktails were amazing. Food was clever and made with real love. Highly recommend

What a find! This new place serves a broad selection of Michelin-star class food for low prices, nicely decorated and perfectly made. The owner explains the menu and the sources of all foods, and also offers a wine menu with private selections from modern and ecological providers. I haven’t ever seen a place like this for less than three times the cost. Try it now before they get famous and have a three-month wait for a table!

We tried their tapas selection and were pleasantly surprised by the original and uncommon flavors. Each dish was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The friendly service added to the overall enjoyable experience. Definitely worth a visit!

Outstanding 6/5 I recently had an incredible dining experience at The Door, a charming restaurant in Porto that has been open for just over a year. The owners, Afonzo and Pato, welcomed me with their warm and friendly nature, creating a delightful atmosphere. The personalized shirts worn by the staff added a personal touch to the overall experience. The oysters at The Door were both enormous and delicious. Harvested from brackish waters just 45 minutes away, they were incredibly fresh and devoid of brininess. The flavors were exceptional, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to local sourcing. The pineapple and ginger gin was an unforgettable delight. The combination of sweet tropical notes and subtle spice created a perfect harmony of flavors, refreshing and invigorating the palate. I couldn't resist ordering the Angus beef carpaccio twice—it was simply mouthwatering. The thinly sliced beef melted in my mouth, and the accompanying flavors were expertly balanced, leaving a lasting impression. The ambiance at The Door was enchanting, with tasteful decor and a cozy atmosphere. The attentive staff further elevated the experience, ensuring every guest felt truly taken care of. Overall, The Door in Porto offers an exceptional culinary journey. From the impressive oysters to the delightful pineapple and ginger gin, each dish is crafted with care and precision. Don't miss the Angus beef carpaccio—a true treat for the senses. Whether you're a local or visiting Porto, The Door is a must-visit destination. Experience the best of fresh, local ingredients combined with warm hospitality, creating memories that will linger long after your meal.

A fantastic little local restaurant run by a young and hip team. The owner offers a wam welcome and great explanation of the menu, whilst the wait staff get you some tasty and rather generous drinks. As the food is rapidly prepared, in line of sight (which is fun to watch) the chef and team busily knock up tasty local treats, with the chef delivering to the table himself. The owner and chef are in partnership and are sure to go a long way together. The place was packed from early evening until late and through their success will have to find a larger venue at some point. - this is a credit to them, given they only opened in 2022. The decor is fun, with a casual vibe. The food quality is high with a focus on excellent local ingredients. The price is fair value. Highly recommended to get in here, before the secret gets out… or maybe it’s too late already…

You don't want to miss this little gem if you value quality food and excellent service. The atmosphere is relaxed and all items on the menu are carefully chosen from organic and local sources. The wine has the right temperature and all dishes are well put together to give you a culinary treat. I will miss this place for sure.

Outstanding food and incredible service. The owner/chef was incredibly kind and excited to give us a detailed description of the menu and his homemade infused gins. The Alheira sliders and Preguinho sandwich were delicious, and the "Just" A Salad was beautifully refreshing. The ambience and music made an already great experience even more comfortable. The best meal I've had in Portugal.

I’m not even sure where to start and what to say about this place. Going to The Door is like being with family. The food is delicious but the service is the absolute gem of the place. Afonso and his staff are fantastic hosts and provide a wonderful dining experience. We expected just to go, have a good meal, and leave but always ended up staying 2-3 hours enjoying the food, drinks, and conversation. If you’re in Porto, go to The Door, you won’t regret it!

One of the best food experiences in Porto. An exploration of taste through a mix of culture, skill, quality, hospitality. It’s a place where the more discerning tourist would want to queue for the experience rather than go to a common good spot. Apparently each day they have a different menu. I like the concept since it forces them to experiment and work with daily fresh products of high quality. We need this kind of business in every city around the world run by passionate people who’s objective is to make our day after we eat their food! (However, I don’t wish it would even become a franchise since that business model often starts with great concept but would eventually lose their quality through upscaling).

One of the best meals of my life. The staff are unbelievable, with such attention to detail, fabulous personalities and the food this is a place you just have to try. Make sure to try one of the specialty gin cocktails. I had the passionfruit one, which is the best I have tasted. We shared 4 family style dishes angus steak beef carpaccio, just ‘a’ salad, chorizo with chimichurri and the beef empanadas. Throughout the meal the awesome staff would come over with a shot of alcohol to try, many of their own infused gins, a wonderful ginga, and then this amazing expresso martini. We couldn’t not have the dessert and the caramel ice cream sandwich and sticky toffee pudding were to die for. Truly and amazing night.

Amazing staff, food, cocktails, and ambiance. Flor was incredibly hospitable and friendly. The open kitchen concept where the chefs serve you was such a bonus! So fun and young. We were so full that we couldn’t even take a bite of one dish and they refused to let us pay for it. Just a wonderful experience!

Fast service: 5/5 Friendly service: 5/5 Tasty food: 4/5 Value for money: 4/5 The food was good, but it's mainly the friendly atmosphere that's the secret of the place, in my opinion. We felt welcome. Cooked oysters were a surprising sensation of the evening. Espresso martini and biological wine were also top-notch. The other dishes were tasty, though not as nuanced in terms of flavours. I would come back. Pictures: beetroot hummus, selection of complimentary starters, beef tartar, cooked oysters.

We had 5 dinners in Porto, The Door is absolute the best. It is not just any ordinary restaurant, they have their own ideas of food, which is splendid! The food is not just creative and delicious, it was also presented in a way that makes you feel the passion of the restaurant.

Loved this place! Such a unique and fantastic restaurant. High quality, well thought out & crafted food and drinks and service was impeccable. One of the most interesting (and tasty) cocktails I’ve ever had; the olive gin and tonic. Every tapa was a favorite & it was impossible to pick a favorite. Would highly recommend!

Do not skip this place! The food, the family feel and fun energy of the chefs and staff who stopped by our table to check on us and recommend and share gems of culinary wisdom. We had the BEST experience at The Door. Started with baked herbed Camembert cheese, beef carpaccio, fois gras, cod focaccia and just a salad… each dish surpassed the one before and the flavor combo was like none other. Cant say enough about the service and overall ambience of this little gem. You must go and we recommend sitting inside to be close to the kitchen.

This is truly an amazing place! I am going out of my way to join this league of 5 star reviewers for this place. They’re exteremely passionate about serving the best quality of food to their customers (which they’ll know you by name if you make reservations). It is honestly amazing the quality they can make with 3 people in the restaurant and a small kitchen. At first I was doubtful of them only having 5 star reviews but after eating here me and my boyfriend were completely blown away. They really deserve this rating and exceeded in service, food quality, and experience they delivered to us. There was no mediocre dish and everything was priced 1/3 of what other fine dining places would charge.

A great place to relax and enjoy great food + drinks. The owner, Afonso, is very friendly and attentive. The team is very passionate with what they do, as reflected in the foods & drinks & service. We will definitely come back and bring more people in here. PS - Katie loves this place 🐾

This was a highlight of our stay in Porto. The staff here are brilliant and work very hard to make sure your meal is brilliant and memorable. Nice touches from the personalised reservation notices, tasting of wine prior to deciding, through to the bill presented in a book on wine. The food is great and arrives when it is ready and is for sharing. Highly recommend.

Another great spot in Porto. Nice little restaurant with good deco, music and attentive service. The food is very tasty and prices are fair. Small tapas concept to share and combine different items. The wine selection is biologic. All in a all, solid 5*.

The best restaurant I've been to in Porto. Easily. The staff at the restaurant treated everyone so well, took their time to explain the dishes and seemed passionate about what they're doing. The food was also superb - along with their gin infusions. Make this a go to when you're in Porto and you won't regret it. We will be back again!

This place was just great. The tapas were of the quality of a tasting menu rather regular tapas. The beef carpaccio was sliced insanely thin making it soft and more tender to eat. The empanadas were very crisp on the outside and still flakey. The toffee dessert special was soooo buttery in taste and balanced perfectly with ice cream and whipped cream. Everyone was nice and our inability to speak Portuguese did not detract from the experience. I was a skeptic when I saw a 5.0 rating, but this place deserves it.

If you’re reading this review it’s too late. You should have already made a reservation. Top tier, modern quality food. This is casual, unique, but high quality place. I’ll put it this way: I don’t eat olives. I ate olives tonight. Would return. Do not skip.

We have returned to Poland. Missing Porto and its food. Eating here will make you happy! The chef came to greet us and every dish was special. My favorite is the sausage, 😭 but it’s not available here! ! Looking forward to having another chance to go there next time!
