The owner is so friendly and pays attention to every details. Even just giving us tissue he removed the first one so we knew it is 100% clean. He had his way to arrange plates so we could have the best dining experience on a small table. Love that He explained every dishes, especially when he talked about the recipes his wife created, it is a place full of love. ❤️ The most important thing of course is that all the food we had was amazing! The pumpkin bread was impressive, we bought an entire roll to go. We will definitely come back to try more things especially the desserts. Thanks for the great food and service. :)

A lovely little place, with a sunny, 5-table terrace, opposite a park, on a pedestrian street. I went for the Breakfast Experience, with a local bread made out of corn, with chestnuts, a crunchy rustic bread, both well buttered and with house-made jam and a port wine reduction jelly. The scrambled eggs were firm, springy, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The breads were fantastic. One crunchy and satisfying, one soft and full of rich and naturally sweet flavours. Great coffee and fresh orange juice. They also have a short menu of different types of scrambled eggs and toasts. Extensive hot and cold drinks menu. Staff were friendly and welcoming and spoke at least Portuguese, Spanish, English and French fluently. Service was very detail oriented and observant, without being overbearing.

Best place in Porto. Amazing food and service. Bread board was excellent and traditional Portuguese dishes were to die for. Very kind owner - great experience. We have been there twice in 2017 and 2021, and this place is still special.

This place was on our "must-visit in the Porto" list The owner conducted a short excursion into the menu, Portuguese cuisine and gave advice on the choice of dishes His wife is a chef in this restaurant and apparently she knows how to play magic - I don't know how to explain such delicious food! If you have a chance, don't miss it! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would do it )

A small welcoming place with a husband and wife team that are just wonderful. The cheese and sausage sample plate was incredible and you receive a full break down of each sausage and cheese type as well as its origin. A great way to start a meal. The absolute hands down winner was the tripas. This was one of the most insanely delicious things I've ever eaten in my life. I have 4 more days in Porto and I WILL have this again. Sensational. A must visit.

Our best meal in Porto! Better than some Michelin Star restaurants I have dined at. The atmosphere is very nice, and being run by a husband and wife, it is also warm and inviting. With the most nuanced flavors and a balance of fresh veggies, flavorful meat, and crispy bread, it was the best food we had during our week. Our only regret was that we found it on our last day because we definitely would have returned. The Broa bread and spread was delicious. This place deserves an award!

Perfect place for breakfast. Before I try them here, goat and sheep cheese were not my particular taste, but this restaurant let me find those are as good as cheese from cow. Maybe the jam(made by owner's? wife) helped, I liked the one pumpkin with ginger a lot. If you want, you can buy a jar of jam.

This was one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had! The outdoor seating area was decorated lovely and the service was incredible. The food was delicious. You can see how passionate the server is and how proud he is of his wife’s bread and jams. My favorite was the chestnut bread and the jam that came with the rustic bread, made with port wine and cinnamon. They had the best orange juice, and best eggs too. It was so simple but so amazing. We came back twice we loved it so much! Cannot recommend this place enough!!

A really special evening. The food and service were both so much better than 5 star. It was probably our favourite evening out of 2 weeks in Portugal. If you get the opportunity to visit then you must!

We came here for breakfast and enjoyed it so much we came back the next day for lunch. Ran by a husband and wife with a passion for delicious food made with quality ingredients and excellent service. If we had had still been staying here at the weekend we would have returned again for dinner.

A gem. Lovely husband and wife couple, he takes care to explain every dish, every ingredient, and is justifiably proud of his talented wife, who does all of the cooking. I had a wonderful meal, and I will be back. When my friends come to visit from the US, this is where I will introduce them to true Portuguese food (no francesinhas) and hospitality.

We came to this cute little place by chance and have been really surprised by the quality of fresh ingredients, passion and enthusiasm of the host and his wife which is in the kitchen ;-). Honourable mention for the local Portuguese cheeses which we really loved. Make sure to let the host guide you in the choice of these new (at least for us) local flavours. I think we can safely say that this place is similar to a bistro - excellent English which was also a plus for us. Good and fresh food. By the way, no cards accepted (ATM literally behind the corner which is very handy).

Best place in town. The service was incredible so as the staff. THANKS AGAIN. I’ll never forget and will recommand to anyone. Everything was prepared with love and kindness. The food is tasty and the place is so welcoming ❤️ We even had the opportunity to talk in French. They take the time to explain us everything about the food, the restaurant and everything.

An adorable, traditional restaurant with the most amazing breakfast. The owner is so sweet and attentive. We had the traditional Portuguese breakfast of toast, eggs, juice and sweet bread (family recipe) - delicious and so cheap! Go here for an authentic taste of Porto.

A total delight! I came for breakfast and even though they were busy the host took his time to explain what makes the menu special . His wife is the chef and she uses her own recipes with ingredients from the Azores. Everything was well seasoned and fresh. Fine dining vibes with Cafe prices.

This place is amazing. The food was DELICIOUS, homemade and it's quite affordable. While still very local and Portuguese, the preparation and fresh menu options were unique to this spot, compared to other local cafes and restaurants nearby. Everything is made by the chef/co-owner and their cousin's bakery. The host/co-owner was over-the-top nice and talked us through the menu, showing us the different options and explaining the big variety they had. In the end we had a starter of pumpkin bread with port jam (it was beyond great - we bought a loaf when we left to haul back to London), as well as a selection of Portuguese cheeses and meats. The meat and cheese came with two types of jam - one was a delicious Strawberry, Port, and pink pepper - shown in the photo because we bought a jar of that, too). For mains we got the tuna salad, and a wonderful pork served with more delicious bread. I'm sad we only discovered this place for our last meal before leaving Porto, because we would have gone back again for a longer, leisurely afternoon with drinks. Marked as a favourite to visit on our next trip!

Sensational food, maybe one of the best meals I’ve had. The owners (husband and wife) were very friendly and knowledgable and helpful with my food restrictions due to pregnancy. It was a relaxed setting. I am not even a big seafood eater but I enjoyed the cod and tuna immensely! Obrigado!

Fabulous breakfast served by lovely people who speak excellent English. I had the "breakfast experience" for one person and it was lovely and a large portion. Scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked and the beads (I opted for the pumpkin bread) were superb. Well worth a visit!

My experience here was beyond superb. Family owned restaurant, you will get a warm welcome and a detailed yet non intrusive explanation on the ingredients and dishes in the menu. Plus, everything is made on site. I went here twice for lunch and once for breakfast and it was a remarkable experience everytime. Taste 10/10 Service 10/10 Prices very reasonable I recommend the pork and chocolate cake Also, bring cash as they don't take cards

#2 of almost 2000 eateries in Porto by TripAdvisor. Think of great bistro in Paris. Eight tables, short but all embracing menu, family-like service. Sardine sandwich, tripe soup for dinner; scrambled eggs with mushrooms and chestnut bread for breakfast; homemade dessert beyond the capacity of the taste buds - all belongs here.

I was very impressed with this tiny restaurant. I went for lunch. The host is a very sympathetic guy who is very knowledgeable about the food, takes his time to advise you and he is a true gentleman. You can clearly tell that the owners (couple) have passion for their job. The woman who cooks everything was also very kind. I wish I could have come back to try the other options from the menu (especially the desserts) but unfortunately I am heading home!

Truly wonderful. Beautiful home cooked exquisitely flavoured food. It was absolutely sensational. We had a fabulous lunch here after the owner explained each item on the menu. It was then cooked by his wife using her wonderful recipes. Delicious and succulent. Wish we had found it at the start of our trip.

From start to finish the experience was perfect. First class service from our waiter. Fast but not rushed with incredible attention to detail. Always willing to help. The breakfast experience he recommended was an excellent choice, scrambled eggs with two types of sweet breads and Porto made jams. All made from scratch in the kitchen. This is a must for anyone visiting Porto!

Best.experience.in.Portugal. Must.must.must.do! We were walking by when the chef came over and asked us if we were looking for a table. Then he went through every single dish on the menu with careful detail including telling us where the ingredients were sourced from. So, convinced we sat down and he gave us some suggestions. And we got THE bread. Whatever you get, DO NOT SKIP THE BREAD. It is something else. I have never tasted bread like that, we got the pumpkin and the chestnut one. Next, for entrees, we got the traditional Portuguese tripes, and it was gooooood! But the highlight for me was the pork damas. I’ve never had pork cooked so brilliantly that it would melt in your mouth. Especially with the delicious sauces they had. And at every step of the way, the chef would personally see to it that everything was explained and we understood what we were eating. At the end, the chef, which is his wife came outside to ask about the food. Of course we loved it and we told her we would definitely be back!! So, as you can imagine, best experience in the entire Portugal trip. And we are definitely planning to go back. If there is one single place I would recommend to try in Porto, this is the place!

(Translated by Google) Just a wonderful dinner. We found this place by chance and, despite almost closing in, they treated us wonderfully, I insist that to know what attention to detail is, you have to visit this family restaurant and be advised by its owners. We ate a tasting of cheeses and sausages from the different regions accompanied by excellent local wines, the homemade bread toasts that are a family recipe and tuna petisco, delicious. For dessert, the homemade egg and almond cake with lemon ice cream. I don't put photos because we ate it all before I had time.

Absolutely fantastic! Where do I begin.. the service is out of this world, the host is the sweetest, most kind person who will take the time to explain the food with such gusto, joy & love, that you will want to try everything. The food itself is spectacular - bread board was the absolute standout, the breads were unlike anything else I've tried, and tasted heavenly! The pork petiscos was also sublime, as was everything else...do not skip this place, it's an absolute must! We came back 3 times during our one week in Porto!! One note - it's cash only.

(Translated by Google) Place to go must. More than excellent treatment, they explain everything. Each dish as it is processed. Home cooking. The restaurant is family-run and the wife is the cook and everything is delicious. Besides, then you can buy there if you liked some of the food, drinks, etc. What I liked the most was that it shows that they like their work. Apart from the fact that they all speak a few languages. I have loved it and I will repeat for sure. (Original) Lugar para ir obligado. Trato más que excelente, te explican todo. Cada plato como se procesa. La comida casera. (Translated by Google) I found this place by chance, and I was very surprised, before sitting down I looked for its assessment and it was high, and indeed it corresponds to it. It is a cozy and well-kept place. The attention of the waiter is incredible, I have never been treated with such attention and taking care of the details so much, he explains everything you are going to eat and where it comes from, he is waiting all the time that you are satisfied and if you need anything for the minimum that That is, if one day I had a business, I wish I was lucky enough to have a person who takes care of both the treatment and the image and cares so much about customer service. Besides, the food is delicious and has a very good price for the quality they offer. I recommend it 100%, it is my second time in Portugal and it is one of the best places I have been, in my case I had a breakfast / brunch but I read the lunch menu and it looked very good.

I could write 1000 things why this place is one of the best restaurants where I was. But I try to make it short and simple. I was in the restaurant two times in my holidays with my girlfriend in Porto and normally I would never do that, beceaus I like to try new thinks and so many as possible in one place but this restaurant is special - so we come to the short part :D. -the Owner make this restaurant to such a wonderful place where you feel welcome and like home. -the food is just outstanding: the homemade bread is unbelievable and the pork is the best pork I ever head in my live(and I was in many restaurants cheap ones and as also fine dining) -the knowledge about the food form the owner is great and he will explain you every meal and ingredients. Probably the Owner will see this: in case best Greetings from Germany and thank you for the experience.

Simply amazing! Haven't written a Google review before, but I felt compelled to given how amazing the food and service was here. The owner takes the times to explain the menu thoroughly, and he speaks many languages so he was able to describe each item in perfect English. Definitely take the time to stop by here. The prices are fair, the service is excellent and the food is out of this world!!

Wonderful customer service: passionate and proud about their craft. A delicate family business overlooking the luscious garden of St. Lazarus, the Mercearia and Petisqueria is so in its own right. The traditional, subtle yet complementary flavours reveal a caring, detailed and patient approach to cooking, and ask for your time and attention in return. A definite stop if you're around!

Wow, we were presently surprised. We sat outside and enjoyed the view of flowers in the park. The host and his wife were incredibly personable and helpful. And the food was superb and out of this world. Best meal in ages! Good all made to order and from scratch. Inventative twist on traditional Portuguese cuisine. A gourmet experience and a fair price. We can't wait to return.
