Francis
Xavier
was
founded;
It
is
to
be
presumed
to
have
been
by
the
years
1661
or
1662,
with
our
backs
threatened
by
the
Armada
da
Galicia
(Henrique
Duarte
de
Sousa
and
Reis.

In
perfect
condition,
it
is
under
the
guard
of
the
Command
Association
(North
Delegation)
which
maintains
a
historical-military
museum
and
a
program
of
cultural

animated

the

fort
has
a
plant
in
the
shape
of
a
triangular
polygon
with
solid
stone
walls,
bought
by
pentagonal
guaritas
in
the
vertices
covered
by
domes.

Terraplane,
large
shooting
platforms,
ornament

historical
cannons,
and
service
buildings
(command
house,
troop
barracks,
paiol
and
cistern).
The
defenses
are
completed
by
pits,
levadiça
bridge
and
monumental
gate
of
re
-plan
access,

the
ground
side
(north),
with
arc
-shaped,
topped
by

shield
with
the
weapons
of
Portugal.
An
oratory,
