A group of 6 crazy Greeks at a wine tasting reservation last Saturday, 21.00. Absolutely no surprise confirming the so many 5 stars Rafa has received. He was waiting for us right at the door and from the first moment he transferred to us his positive energy and enthusiasm about wine. Our stay at his small, cozy winery was delightful, we didn’t stop talking and interacting with Rafa. Rafa from his side is a world class sommelier and wine enthusiast who knows exactly how to transfer his wide knowledge of wine to any people regardless of their background. Just a couple of hours were enough and a new world opened for our group, we left the winery thinking on how to choose and taste our next bottles of wine. Rafa, thank you so much for this experience, maybe the highlight of our city trip!

Not surprising that Rafa has only received 5 star reviews. This wine tasting experience was everything we were looking for. A variety of wines, explained in a fun and accessible way for multi-level wine tasters. The place was quaint, warm (for colder weather outside) and well decorated. Rafa was knowledgeable, personable, and full of recommendations. We have to mention that the cheese pairing was also local, family grown, and delicious. Taking a wine tasting with Rafa is like taking a mini Portuguese wine masterclass in real life :) What impressed me the most was his passion for wine education - helping others to enjoy and gain more knowledge about wine, beyond just being a wine geek himself. I was able to ask quite a few questions digging into the nuances of old vs. new barrels, micro climates/terroir. And Rada was very patient and generous sharing his wealth of knowledge 🤓 I have been to a few other wine tasting class before but the experience at de Lima's stood out because it was intimate/small group, engaging and Rafa's enthusiasm was endemic. After the class, I put my knowledge to test - I picked out a bottle of red blend with exactly the style and types of grapes without reading the label at all! I guess I pass the pop quiz 😜 I highly recommend Rafa's class to any wine newbie and connoisseur alike!

Our expectations were surpassed at this quaint, personalized wine tasting! Rafe provided a wealth of useful information that will make our future wine-purchasing experiences a breeze. The cheese and chorizo for the pairing were delicious as well. Worth the price for anyone looking forward to gain insight into the Portugal wine scene.

My wife and I had an amazing wine tasting w/ Rafael. He quizzed us on our impressions of various wines, taught us how to do a proper tasting, and then showed us how to change the flavor of wines by altering the order we imbibed them. Rafael is personable, engaging, and very knowledgeable. He loves to talk wine and Portugal. An amazing evening and we HIGHLY recommend. Reservations are required. He opens only for scheduled wine tastings. If you can't make it to Porto, he also does online tastings. We've done them with him as part of our Portuguese wine club and that's how we learned of his wine bar. Rafael's wine tasting is something you should seek out either in person or online.

I cannot recommend this wine tasting enough. Rafa takes the time to explain what we are looking for in wines and how that is created in the manufacturing process. I now can successfully buy wine with confidence and I know how to get the wine I want just from reading the label, which is something I genuinely thought was too complicated to ever understand. Rafa has great energy and we even made some friends in the class as well. Rafa not only checked in with us the morning of to ensure everything was in order, it had all the wine and cheese pairings ready for us the moment we walked in the door. He was above all passionate in his sharing his tremendous love of wine and his experience shows throughout every minute of him explaining wine to us newbies. He not only taught us how to taste the different types/styles of wines, but more importantly he made wine approachable and demonstrated how to look for wine in any store no matter where we are. We did this wine experience on our last evening in Porto a few weeks ago and I’m so glad we did. I was looking for a unique wine experience my husband and I could enjoy comfortably. Rafa is extremely sweet and he spent 2+ hours with our group reviewing all of our questions about wine after a tasting coupled with delectable cheese and bread. He taught us the fundamentals of every day wine drinking and exploring. It truly felt like a family experience and his knowledge is so impressive. We had a blast and would recommend this to anyone. We booked last minute and he was reealllly booked so definitely recommend planning in advance if you can!

Terrific way to start my experience in Portugal. I traveled by myself and joined in with a group of 5 from Ireland. Wine Tastings are limited to small groups which make it a fun experience. I’ve done MANY wine tastings throughout Europe and this was by far my favorite. I have never had a more experienced and knowledgeable host. I walked away having learned way more than I anticipated.

This was our favourite activity while visiting Porto. Rafa is fantastic at guiding you through the wine experience. His private wine tastings for groups of up to 6 adults is a great value & I highly recommend it. Let me start by saying; this is not your everyday run in the mill tasting. Raf uses his Sommelier expertise to introduce you to quality Portuguese wine & offers an interesting educational aspect that is really fun and entertaining, making this an ideal excursion for the novice wine drinker & anyone who considers themselves a bit of a “wine connoisseur”. Raf not only demonstrates a vast knowledge of Portuguese wine, he also brings his farming background to the table & shares his family farms cheeses & breads that were absolutely delicious. It adds another level of value to his 90 minute tasting program. We had a wonderful tasting experience at de Lima’s Wine Bar & will definitely visit Raf the next time we are in Porto. In my opinion, de Lima Wine bar represents what’s best about enjoying wine. Incredible! This was our first Airbnb experience and we weren't sure what to expect but we really enjoyed it. Rafael was amazing - his English was perfect and his knowledge of wine (and how he introduces you to it) were top notch.
