Beautiful views from the bridge on both side of Porto. Metro is running on it, on the top, which is so cool, you can drive by car on the bottom, walk on both platforms. Decent piece of modern engineering as well.

This is one of my favorite bridges I've ever been to. It's got an excellent view and the tram shares it with the walking traffic which is so unique. Feeling the rumble of the tram coming and passing is so cool.

This iconic double-deck metal arch bridge is one of the world's most remarkable rail-and-pedestrian hybrid structures. It was built to replace the former Ponte Pênsil (Suspension Bridge). Construction began in 1881, with the upper deck completed in 1886 and the lower deck in 1888. The bridge was designed by Téophile Seyrig, a disciple of Gustave Eiffel. The upper deck (395 m) is used by pedestrians and Porto Metro, while the lower deck (172 m) accommodates cars, buses, cyclists, and pedestrians. At the time of its completion, its central arch span (172 m) was the longest of its kind in the world. From the upper deck, about 45–60 m above the Douro River, you get stunning panoramic views of the city. It’s especially beautiful at sunset and at night when the lights reflect off the water.

Absolutely amazing! This bridge has two stories, the lower one is only for pedestrians. The upper one is for people and for trains. The view is so amazing, for me the best view in all of Europe. I could stand on this bridge for days and it would still be interesting.

This was a really cool bridge to walk across! The architecture is most striking when viewed from the side rather than while walking on it. It was quite busy when we visited on a weekend, and trams pass through regularly, which is something to be mindful of—like many places in Portugal, the trams move seamlessly through pedestrian areas without major barriers, so you definitely need to pay attention. On the south side, there aren’t too many attractions beyond the usual tourist spots, but the views from the bridge are absolutely stunning. Looking out over the river, you get breathtaking panoramas of both sides of the city. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Stunning view, totally mesmerizing!! Fell in love with the overall atmosphere, the street music in the background, the architecture of the buildings, and the boats on the river, all of them are absolutely stunning. There’re lots of coffee shops, bars, and restaurants nearby. So, you can pretty easily enjoy the view with different options, or you can sit on the garden instead! Highly recommended to visit.

Beauty is here. Omg, even the weather was not that great but the place this is heavenly. It has nice garden area nearby, some viewing point and the best part is train track and pedestrian is at the same time on the bridge. Obrigado!

It’s a spectacular way to look across the Douro River over at Porto, Portugal. The height of the bridge gives you a unique vantage point for gazing out over the beautiful city which is sometimes hard to appreciate while walking the narrow winding alleyways and cobblestone streets. I often found myself looking down at my feet to make sure I didn’t trip. 🤣 sorry I don’t have a picture of the bridge which is a world, UNESCO heritage site and a design by a student of Eiffel. It’s well worth the visit.

A must-visit in Porto. The views from the top of the bridge are breathtaking, especially at sunset when the city is bathed in golden light. You can walk across both the upper and lower levels, each offering a unique perspective of the Douro River and the cityscape. Perfect for taking photos, strolling, and appreciating the architecture. It also connects easily to Vila Nova de Gaia, where you can visit the famous Port wine cellars. Definitely one of the most iconic spots in the city.

Great bridge. It is a great place to check out the food, wine, walk and a boat ride as well 😀. Two way roads where you can walk all the way across and can even try the rope way which will give you a wonderful scenery of Porto. Boat trips are frequent even and go both ways.

It was extraordinary! The sunset was beautiful. The amount of people waiting on the other side watching the sun set was so cool! So much to see so much to do! Food, shows, people to meet. This is an incredible spot and I would 100% recommend going. Such beautiful views from the top!

If you like bridges and their architecture, Bridge Luis I is not to be missed. The impressive engineering can be observed better from the bottom up (on the promenade by the Douro river) The views from the bridge are impressive. If you suffer from vertigo or acrophobia it is better to see the bridge from the bottom or in the Metro that takes you across to Gaia.
