    SCAMMERS! Read the reviews and don’t rent here. I should have before my horrifying experience. Worst customer service I’ve experienced in my life. I returned a car I rented for 1 day (200 euros) 3 weeks ago and was emailed yesterday that they will be charging me an additional 200 euros for damage. They sent a picture of a completely broken rim. This was not the car I returned which was inspected upon my arrival. You can’t just charge random past customers. I’ve called and been hung up on multiple times or people telling me there’s nothing they can do to help. If the car was inspected upon return with no damages you don’t say you find something weeks later and say you’re charging them. Do not use this company. They will rip you off and their customer service will do nothing but make you more frustrated. I think I spent 3 days crying over this. Stay away.

    Great experience! Unfortunately I forgot her name, but a pretty dark skinned girl helped us at the desk, she gave us all needed information and was extremely friendly. Also Pedro who gave us the car was great! Besides the great staff members the car was amazing and very fairly priced. Will definitely come back here again.

    Would not advise anyone to rent from this company. They basically omit pre-existing damages to the car you're renting on their vehicle check form and then ding you for damages that were already there when you rented the car. Charged me over $200 USD for a scratch that was barely visible. It was like the guy doing the check knew exactly where to look to find it, because you would never have noticed it.

    I have had a very bad experience with this company. My signature was forged here, fictitious damages were invented and I had to deal with the matter with the police. So please be careful, select different company or take own photos/video during picking up, returning cars! I hope that similar inconveniences will not happen to you and that the employees will behave more politely. But please be carefull! ;)

    I rented a car from this car rental agency for a weekend in Porto. During the vehicle pick-up, the condition report was impeccable. However, during the return, the agency charged me repair fees for damages that did not exist. I contested these charges, but the agency refused to cancel them. I was therefore forced to pay a large sum of money for damages I did not cause. I strongly advise against this car rental agency. It is fraudulent and you risk being scammed.

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Hands down, worst car rental I've ever had. Firstly they rented me a car that was overdue for servicing. Car's main problem was faulty sensors which seemed to initiate faulty brakes on one side of car. Car was a death trap. After almost crashing multiple times that finally ended in a very close shave(all because of faulty car) which left a minor scratch on the right side(side of faulty brakes), I decided to end my rental agreement half way through my trip from Porto to Faro. Terrible customer service: they initially told me I could only email as it was the weekend (a lie)... then after multiple emails and hundreds of calls I finally got through to someone who spoke english. I was lied to, mistreated and ignored. They had no remorse for putting my life and that of my pregnant wife at risk, let alone ruining my holiday by making us return to Porto and abandoning our trip to Faro. It gets worse. Not only did I not receive any compensation and about 4 weeks later I get an email saying they are charging me for the minor scratch... it was as if they had entirely forgotten the ordeal they put me through. I had spoken to a senior figure in the company who had been very apologetic and was fully aware of the scratch and promised there would be no problems. This was also a promise made to stop me from taking legal action. They have now debited my card and I'm wondering if it worth my time to take legal action and bring this fraudulent car rental company to justice.

    DO NOT RENT A CAR HERE. Just avoid! 1. Received unknown charge over €100, without any information about it whatsoever, 2 days after returning. 2. No confirmation sent upon return of the car, thankfully I had picked up a hard copy at the place before leaving. We paid full insurance and condition of car was great on return so there’s no reason why we should be charged for a rental paid online. 3. Also not sent a confirmation about the booking but the supervisor Michelle and Pedro insisted the system had sent it These are just a handful of the issues. The rental car itself was fine, but the hassle of dealing with unknown payments and surprise charges is absolutely not worth it. I have sent Sixt an email, let’s see what the response will be. UPDATE to add further issues: 1. The response was us being sent an invoice for late return. We were not informed at time of return that it was considered late, especially when the receiving person took a while before he attended to us. Furthermore we were given a grace period to return because of the issues we faced (see point 2) 2. Generally seems to have a problem with telling customers information up front? We were not told upfront that we needed to bring a PHYSICAL card at time of pick up. I understand the payment method must match the lessee name, but we weren’t informed about having to bring a physical card. They tried to insist it was in the terms and conditions, made me read it in the shop… and it’s NOT in the T&Cs. Only names matching is the T&Cs, and the digital card does match, we provided real IDs and everything. This is the root cause of the payment issues I’m experiencing.

    Buyer beware This was originally a 5 star rating I have reduced to 1 star. I take it all back! A month after I completed my return I am now receiving emails from Sixt and attempted charges against my card for non-existent issues. I’ve had to edit this post because Sixt keeps flagging my negative review as hate speech. Original post: I rented in Lisbon, drove through Douro, and returned in Porto. I made my reservations online through chase. Being so far away from the agency, and seeing all of these really bad reviews I almost canceled my car the night before! BUT, checkout was seamless. They offered me insurance, but didn’t pressure when I said no. The car I received was scratched all over and I thought for sure they’d give me a hard time about it on return. I took pictures… and the checkout person even suggested other pictures I should take. When I checked in… no issues. No imaginary scratches. No hard time. They did look the car over, but that’s their job. If these reviews have you worried… at least for me it was a seamless and pleasant 4 day rental!

    Car was ok, but they basically stole from me. As I returned my car with almost full tank (7/8, full would have been 8/8), unfortunately they took money from my credit card as if the tank was empty. And they are not able to respond any of my e-mails.

    Sixt on Porto Airport is clearly a fraudulent company looking for ways to scam their customer. Making up damages and charging ridiculous amounts for a scratch on a window. You think, you better go with a big international name so you won't be scammed, but actually the opposite happens. You expect a decent car, but end up with a very disappointing car for way too much money. Sixt head office actually support these scams. It is really the worst option to choose from

    I was a bit concerned after reading some reviews. But my experience was very positive. The staff was helpful and not pushy when doing the check in. I also got my car quickly. They were very thorough at pointing out all the damages on the car at the beginning and marking it on the sheet. It's definitively more involved that in North America. But then I had no issues when I brought the car back (at a different location). The car was very recent and the model matched what I ordered. Surprisingly, the large car I got (Renault Megane Sports Tourer) didn't have a rear view camera, but I blame Renault for that! I'd recommend getting the toll option (i.e. transponder) as I found many toll roads with only an automated option to pay.

    Be careful to read the document you sign when returning the car. When I returned the car the employee said that all was good and I just signed the return document. But it contained mentions about damage so they're going to charge me with 378 euro for damage I didn't do. Looks like scam so be careful with them. I will never use the services of this company again.

    It was a pity I had to give any stars as I would have given @Sixt zero if I could. They ripped me off for over £600 for damage I didn’t do to their car. Their practice of taking arbitrary sums from the £2,500 deposit you have to give them should be illegal.

    A wait of 1.5hrs at porto to check in and get the car - Total shambles and should have opened the airport office too. I upped zero stars to 3 stars because the staff were excellent (explaining tolls etc), the car was clean and comfy and return was very easy. The wait was unacceptable though and we missed our dinner reservation because we had to wait so long.

    Great experience with Sixt Porto yesterday. I was served by Diana and she did a great job explaining the insurance and street toll/tax policies to me and handed me a brand new car. Anytime again, great team. Also to mention I loved the paperless experience and full integration into the Sixt system - no more printed papers.

    We’ve rent Renault Clio for 5 days in this office. Booked online in Sixt app, with third-party insurance. Everything went well: kind and smiley service on reception, quick and detailed check-out and quick check-in at the end. No extra damages found. There was just one discomfort about low battery in car keycard. Highly recommend if we compare to other rent companies and other Sixt offices in Porto.

    Very nice comfortable car supplied however the next day I discovered that the oil level was at the very bottom of the dip stick when the oil light came on Which obviously causes concern when you have a long way to drive

    I have rented from the Boa Vista SIXT location on several occasions, and have always experienced professionalism. The cars have always met my expectations, the rates are reasonable, and I have never had any problems.

    Please use enterprise, hertz whatever you want but not this branch or maybe Sixt in general. Had no problems with sixt previously until now. The manager (front desk guy) tried to include extra services in my booking without my clear consent and his explanation of services that I need to include was confusing. I had a feeling he was trying to trick me to pay extra. I saw at the end that the sum of money was different from what I booked and refused to pay, so after waiting another 5-7 minutes I paid the exact price as the booking stated. It was the longest waiting time in Sixt and communication of the manager was suspicious as he consistently reminded of the window protection and road side stuff. That made me think that something is wrong with car from the starters. 4 managers were in a room, they saw this guy had a problem, but non of them helped to resolve the situation. I got a nice car though. Also I want to admit that guys at the garage are better in terms of communication and explanations than the front desk.

    This location was unnecessary late in helping with a flat tire issue. First told us that they could not help in spite of having roadside protection from them. Asked us to call toll free number which told us to go to the airport location. The staff there were very helpful. However, it too five hours to fix the problem and we lost our bookings for the day.

    Got a better car as expected, also good service. I prepaid via german automobile club and just want to pick up the car there. 4/5 stars because I did not want to buy the load for gasoline when I return the car. However, after three times saying "no" I gave up and bought it. Otherwise I had to start arguing. So, when your customer says "no", please just accept.

    We had an excellent check-in experience with Nando at the Boavista Sixt in Porto. He was excellent at explaining the terms of the rental contract and the car was promptly ready for our pickup. The car was clean, in excellent condition, and the porter walked us through the various features of the car prior to our departure. We highly recommend Sixt as a rental company and also this location!

    Had a great experience in Lisbon and Porto. Do recommend location inside city limits in Porto. Provided a damaged car and a remote with low battery. Manager was very nice. Service person at desk would not let up on pitching prepay for gas and damage insurance.

    Even though everything went smooth in the office when picking and returning car, few weeks later I received an Invoice for Fueling 2 times. We returned car with full tank, they charged us double and not responding to my emails. Recently received another email for charging extra. This is ridiculous, when price for day increased from 36€ to 180€… I still hope I can get a response and explanation.

    DO NOT USE THIS CAR RENTAL SERVICE. BEWARE!! I rented a car from Sintra and had to return to Porto. The car upon pick up was battered, when I asked the attendant if driving with a crack in the windshield was safe he said yes because it was on the edge. Thank goodness I took pictures and videos because upon drop off (had to drop off before opening) they tried to charge me over $700 to replace the windshield! Despite the windshield damage being noted on my initial paperwork they attempted to use me to pay for the windshield. Without pictures and videos I would have been in trouble. Along with this they are hitting me with charges that they never explained and that show how horrible their customer service is. I returned to a Sixt just outside the airport (not from Portugal) and they are charging me over $50 for that. I will be back in Portugal soon and will tell everyone I know not to use this rental company. I regret even giving them 1 star but wanted to write so otherwise were aware.

    Pedro at Sixt made sure we had a car that suited us best. He suggested a better model for the nature of the roads he knew we’d encounter and ensured we had a vehicle with a navigation system he could set up for us. We couldn’t have asked for a better customer experience. Thank you!!

    I rented my car with Sixty and the problems started before the trip. I rented in the Porto Airport off Terminal station. One day before my flight Sixty informed that this location would close at 7pm and since my flight was scheduled to arrive at 6:50pm I would need to take the car in the Porto Airport station (which I thought I was already doing) and charged me an extra $60. I was not happy, but since it was one day before my trip I did not have much time to look for options and agreed to it. Arriving in Porto I when to get the car and the Airport station was closed, so I needed to get a shuttle to the station close to the airport (the same one that closes at 7pm and that I had to pay an extra $60). The process of getting the car was fast. The only problem was that one wiper blade was damaged. The answer from the attendant when I pointed that out was that they were not expecting any rain. Not satisfactory but after a 12 hour flight with two kids I did not had in my to argue. But the problem was when getting the car back. The attendant came to do a full inspection in the car, and that included a mirror to looks under the car and all. It took some 20 minutes for the inspection to finish and he found a scratch under the car. I told him that I am sure that this was not done during my rental. He said that he would note that. After a couple days I receive a $296 bill from Sixty to fix this scratch on the bottom of the car. Total scam. Do not rent with Sixty!

    We live in the Boavista area and have rented a car from this Sixt on multiple occasions. We have had great experiences with their customer service each time. The staff is always kind and helpful, especially Anastasiya at the front desk. The cars are comfortable and clean. The check-out and check-in process is easy and friendly. I would recommend booking your rental car here for excellent service!

    We rent a car from Porto to Lisbon. Well I was very hectic about that, reading the other comments here, but my overall experience was good. The guy I think his name was Nando if I spell it correctly was super explanable about everything. Reading the comments I was a pain in the a** and asked everything to be sure. He responded to all questions with good analysis and understanding tho. We booked a white Nissan Cascai. The car was nearly new without visible dmg. It went very smoothly on the road and all sensors were accurate . We took the full coverage since better safe than sorry. We didn't took the gas deal and we decided to return it full as we did. It costed us around 60€ but unfortunately I don't remember the miles we did. For a general idea we traveled from porto to lisbon making some stops in the way to other cities. Since we are from Greece the fuel there seemed cheaper to us already, though we traveled economically too along the way. We also took the card for the tolls. Nando explained us where to go in tolls and that the total amount of tolls would be calculated in the end of the journey and we would pay that from the deposit. I calculated the tolls as much as I could. Some tolls would say the amount u had to pay while others had a smaller toll. The tolls in portugal were quite expensive I would say. We paid in total 50+ € but within the margin I calculated it would be. Before we take the car we took a regular check with Mario who was also helpful. I took a video and some photos from the car too just in case, though when we returned the car in Lisbon the precedure was very fast and easy. The guys name was Tomas, he inspected the car and gave us a perfect return state. In general, The price of the car and coverage seemed to us expensive in compare with other countries, but also it was the cheapest we could find! Portugals' legislation is not so car friendly either. We had to pay for parking pretty much everywhere also when the parking was free there was always someone that would appear magically to help you put the car in and then asked you some money about the help. OK there were actually some that would sincere help us among them. We gave something just in case they got angry otherwise to be safe. (I really hope that those money went to food...) I ll give 5 stars since the problems I mentioned were not coming from the office and the guys were all helpful. I hope that no hidden costs will arise in the future. If so I ll keep this review updated. Hope you all have a good experience with them too.

    Booked a car through ADAC here, so insurance and second driver were included. Car was new and clean. Bruno Ramos and Silvia Tavares were really nice and explained all the details (responsibilities, electronic tolls, differences in driving) quickly and we were set to go. Upon return found some scratches on the wheel that were noted, but luckily insurance covers it (overwise according to comments we could pay a lot). Technician who checked the car also for some reason wrote that the car was dirty even though it was clean, but we were not charged for that.

    We picked up our car quickly with the help of kind multilingual staff. Sixt car rental is located in a quiet part of Porto so it was easy to transition to the foreign vehicle. Gas station close by to fill up befor our quick and easy drop off.

    Made an online reservation for a car. 5 days later, they call me and told me that that station was not available, if I would like to pick the car in another one. No problem, I said. Then, they told me that the price has changed, and my reservation now cost twice the price I booked online. Worst car rent experience ever. Not recommend at all

    Today we encountered a reservation problem caused by our travel agent. Thanks to the extremely nice, patient, and efficient staff at the Boa Vista Sixt branch, the problem was quickly solved. Fantastic customer experience.

    It is the best car rental I have had until today. excellent attention. very kind. we had many problems with our flights and they were very fair in adjusting the contract. for my next rental, sixt will always be the first option.

    Excellent, excellent service. Even though the reservation system was down, the employees remained calm and handled it perfectly. Check out and check in went very smoothly. By far the best car rental experience I have ever had. Big compliments to the employees.

    The best car hire experience I have ever had. Professional and courteous. The car was very clean and no pressure to upgrade insurance. A special mention for Bruno and Silvia. Bruno at the front desk, he explained everything about the hire and the toll roads was quick but thorough. And Silvia who showed us around the car and took us through the cars features, This high standard of service is a first for me and I will be using Sixt again next time I require a hire car.

    No issue at all with the entire process. Very easy and friendly. Just be careful once entering and exiting the store as the ramp on the asphalt is quite steep and you could scratch the car if you don't pay close attention. Shoutout to Gleysson that was very helpful.

    Had the worst experience renting a car here, they tried scamming us to pay 1500€ to repair damages previous to our rental. On the 21st of August we rented a Renault Trafic in poor condition that had scratches all over the car. It didn't look good but we decided to rent it anyways because we had planned to visit Braga, Guimares and Aveiro. When we returned it at the airport they magically found 4 new scratches on a car that was totally scratched; all the scratches were in the car before our rental so we told them so and they assured us that they would not charge us the reparation. A week later we found out that they charged us with that reparation, 1500€. DO NOT RENT FROM SIXT! We'll take every action possible so a case like this does not happen again! STAY CLEAR OF SIXT

    SCAM. One star is not enough to rate this facility. We rented online before leaving the states and upon reaching Porto after midnight because of a delayed flight, were told that we had to opt for A LOT more coverage in order to be given the car. We had children and luggage and needed to safely get our family to our accommodations so had no choice. We have called VIPCars who we actually rented through as well as this SIXT office in Porto only to be told that they would "speak to the person on duty that night" but no refund for this fraudulent charge that just brings them more money. Making sure everyone I know going to Porto avoids this location and will be sure to mention it in our travel blog.
