One of our favorite restaurants to go to. We found it by accident over a year ago when we just moved to Porto,l and became regulars in an instant. I love the people there. They are very kind and friendly. The menu is simple and not extensive, but they do it WELL! We’ve tried many things there. My favorite is their sandes de pernil com queijo. My husband loves their rissol de camarão. And their cheesecake is amazing! The most important thing to me is how they treat our dog whenever we go there! Thank you so much for accepting us here ❤️

The restaurant has a quite narrow front onto the street and I walked right past without seeing it. Inside is bright and modem within an old building. The menu has some typical Portuguese items and I chose the roasted bacalhau. With soup to start with, a couple of glasses of vinho verde, a refreshing lime mousse, and a coffee for 26 euros. I've been here on several occasions now and it's one of those few special restaurants that make me happy. Still a wonderful little haven in the middle of Porto.

Incredible place, serving great food, with such a humble motto of providing people a great eating experience. We were served by the owner, translating the menu to us, explaining where the food comes from, it’s history. We immediately noticed with what pleasure he is doing this. Honestly, such a superb experience. Amazing to see places like this exist. I wish you guys all the best.

Absolutely incredible. The BEST place we ate at in Portugal, and we ate here 3 times in 4 days. Amazing with our infant, and every dish was absolute winner and incredibly affordable. 1) the Sandwich. MMMM. The Star! We had it every time we were here. Thick pork slices dripping with flavor and tenderness, with funky smooth melted cheese and crusty bread... what else is a sandwich?! Probably the best sandwich in my life. 2) the cod fritters. Fried so light and with a potato and cod filling, incredible. At 4 for 4 euros it is one euro each...!! 3) the house wine. Seriously refreshing and good, worth more than the price. 4) we had the tagliatelle (amazing mushrooms), the moelas/chicken gizzards (so flavorful and tender, thick with collagen), the portuguese sausage (filled with smoky meat and flavor), the laura salted cod, and the DOP steak, and desserts. All were good. There wasnt a miss on the menu. 5) the HOSPITALITY. My goodness. The two brothers who are the main face of the restaurant are so genuine and kind. And their flavors back it up! Amazing meals. If I am ever back in Portugal, I'll visit Porto mainly to come back to Xau Laura. I'm not kidding.

This is the real hidden gem in Porto. I have found this restaurant randomly on Google and we are so amazed with food quality and taste. We think that we had one of the best sendwiche ever and if I could, I would give even more than a 5 stars! Obrigado for amazing experience.

The waiter was super polite, we were really impressed with the service. We ordered the chessecake for a dessert, but it turned out they ran out of it so they gave us chocolate muss free of charge as an apology which was really nice! The fish was also great!

A Fabulous ’ find’ - small, yet perfectly formed. We had the sande de Pernil c/Queijo, their specialty- tasty, moist and lovely - it makes a Hog Roast in the UK look like a dry tasteless experience. I would highly recommend this place !! The two staff were brilliant in translating the menu ❤️

Very nice sandwiches with slow cooked leitao (pork) and regional portuguese cheese. We tried rissoles with mushrooms and pork. Both versions were very good. Tasty home made chips and good wine. Nice desserts (lime mousse and red fruit cheesecake). Very friendly service and relaxing atmosphere. Perfect while drinking porto!

Delicious roast pork sandwiches - best I've had in Porto (much better than the popular Casa Guedes). Great service as well, extremely friendly. Besides the sandwiches, try the rissois too - the octopus was my favorite. Located on Porto's "art street" and close to palacio cristal. Browse the galleries, have a pork sandwich, and then watch the sunset over the Douro from the Palacio garden!

Good food, very friendly and sophisticated service. We went there for snacks but ended up also ordering lunch and finally got to try out port wine as a courtesy of the restaurant. Also, the white house wine was really light and nice on a hot day.

We've just arrived in Porto, went out for dinner and we found this wonderful restaurant out of pure coincidence! The food was simply fantastic and reasonably priced. I had one of the best steaks ever (Posta Barrosa), while my wife and daughter enjoyed the very tasty vegetable soup and tagliatelle. The desserts were exquisite as well, especially the passion fruit cheescake and the choco mousse. In addition, the place is really stylish and cosy, and thanks to the extremely kind and friendly staff we felt really welcome and comfortable. During our whole stay they were making sure we have everything, guided us through the menu and showed their genuine interest in our well being. Thank you for making our first evening in Porto such a great experience!

After we read so many good reviews, we tried yesterday this place and we confirm that is a place to visit. We went there without reservation so they ask us if we want to stay to the counter, since they are fully booked (the place is small like so many others in Porto). After few minutes they said to us that one reserved table was still unoccupied and they offered it to us. Generally speaking, they are so kind with us: the guy who served us, spent some time to explain the menu, answering our questions, etc. The food was very very good: we eat a lot of stuff, we get a bottle of wine, they offered to us two glasses of Porto wine and we spent around 15€ per person! The price ratio was insane! Recommended!

Best place in Porto! Cheesecake is 10/10, the wine is just perfect, and the staff is very welcoming and friendly! It feels like you are a family member from the very first minute. If I ever come back to Porto, I will visit Xau Laura for sure!

I was worried that my second Pfizer shot might make me feel bad, but I ate a Xau Laura Pernil beforehand and I felt great the next day! It can make anything better!

Yummy traditional food with the best service and affordable prices! We went here for dinner last night and absolutely loved it. The young man who served us was so lovely and helpful, and the other staff members were also very friendly. We really liked the cod fritters and meat empada’s. Great spot for dinner, but also for drinks and a few nibbles. Definitely come here to get away from the crowds and enjoy dinner amongst the locals!

This little gem is away from major tourist attractions and favored by locals. You get top quality authentic food at rock bottom prices. The menu was only in Portuguese, but my server was kind enough trying to explain everything to me in excellent English. Please do yourself a favor to pay a visit to this little gem. It'll be the highlight of your trip.

Fabulous. We managed to get a table on a quieter Monday night and the food and service were amazing. Really intimate and personal feel. The cheesecake was one of the best things I ate on my vacation in Portugal (I went back on my last night to get another piece!).

The best pork sandwich (with cheese!) in Porto! Such a wonderful experience. The two nicest brothers with helpful service and helpful translation to English served us (both) nights and were fantastic, set us up a table outside even! Highly recommend any empanada, pasta and cod cake! Great wine and port. Reasonable prices (about 12 euro per person with appetizer, dinner and drinks). You must eat here! We will be back. Thank you for such a great dinner (x2)!

The service was great, I haven’t been treated this kindly and warmly in a restaurant before. The waiter took the time to help us understand the menu (as we don’t speak Portuguese) and all other workers were also kind and seemingly getting along and helping each other. It was a great experience. The food was also awesome

Xau Laura was the best choice I could made in this beautiful part of Porto! The food and wine was amazing and I came back 4 more times in one week! I was very happy with the delicious food, friendly waiters and cook. The place is perfect for lunch and also for evening chill. When I return to Porto, this will be my first stop!

My husband and I ate dinner here for the first time the other day and it was fantastic! The service was impeccable in the food was delicious. We started out with the moelas (gizzards) and they tasted good and had a bit of a kick. I'm not usually a gizzard fan, but these were very delicious. I had the posta barrosã which was prepared perfectly and was a good cut of meat. Hubby had the alheira and it was absolutely delicious! It was not super smoky tasting like many we've eaten and it was a bit creamy. The wine was delicious as well. Prices were very good. Recommend!

The food here is amazing, quite simple and done brilliantly! We had the mushroom croquette, the pork croquette, the pork&cheese sandwich, the sausage and finished with the passion fruit mango cheesecake. Would have them all again and would recommend. Great hospitality, very friendly and welcoming. Overall one of our best dining experiences in our months of European travel so far.
