Very special Bed and Breakfast in Portsmouth - they renovated several buildings - we were at Sumer set house right across the street to the Breakfast bar - they had a variety of delicious food to choose. The concierge was so nice - we came with a camper an - so the access to a parking place was not easy to find in the street - so the manager removed his car! Walking distance to many restaurants an the sea with pier.

This hotel advertises its self as boutique. We did not experience a boutique hotel. We were placed in one of the outlying houses. The room was fairly big. But the toilet was separate from the bathroom with no sink. It was like a cubby hole. So small that you had to back into it and sit straight on the toilet. There is no fridge, no coffee machine, no free water. The decoration was pretty, the chests of draws were cute. However. It lacks professional finish, there are wonky plug sockets on the wall for the TV. The light switches are not attractive or subtle and the wires are not chases into the wall. Just covered by plastic covering. There's no light over the tucked away mirror. The radiator was a little rusty, as was the shaving mirror. This hotel room would be fine and a good price if it was £80. At £185.00 through hotels.com very overpriced, maybe we could have found it at a better price? There were no luxuries but the room was clean, the bed comfortable. Would we stay here again? No. Not unless they stepped up to living up to their promises.

Can't wait to stay here for our wedding. An incredibly beautiful place with quirky, individually decorated good size rooms.

We have just returned from 5 weeks on the road in France and Spain. Where we stayed in overpriced, small, less than clean rooms. Wow what a refreshing change at Somerset House. Large, bright, clean, well equipped rooms and an excellent breakfast at a very reasonable price. The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. Highly recommend

Warm spacious bedroom, was at top of the building so perhaps this should be mentioned at time of booking for guests who might struggle. Parking was available. Extensive breakfast selection, I had eggs beneidct which was delicious, very attentive staff and quick service.

Rooms were lovely. Room was tidy with clean towels if needed. beds were made every day. Couldnt fault it. There was a fan also in the room. Hotel is more then one building. Ours were opposite the hotel resturant. Only downside for people who smoke was no designated smoking area. There were a few people like myself that did smoke. Some people like to relax when they get up in the morning with a cup of tea or coffee and a cigarette. We had to do that on the outside pavement and nowhere to sit which is humiliating standing there in our night clothes on the street. Most hotels and pubs provide designated area's but not this one. We pay same price for staying at this hotel but get treated like vagrants because we smoke. There is a garden area but for only for non smokers. Government have agreed for smoking area's but it's up to hotel if they agree to it. For this reason i only give 3 stars for being discriminated for being a smoker. Another reason i didnt use their resturant for dinner. Would not go there again.

I was disappointed because I paid for a Superior SuperKing, but was given a double room. The double room was okay in terms of looks however the breakfast was really small. The staff was really good to keep our luggage while we explored the city after we checked out.

Room nice but wardrobe no second handle, bath had damage one that could have been easily fixed. Parking a nightmare I think just from experience we paid £200 we can normally get a sea view for that price. Just don't feel it was value for money, yes you spent time talking to me but was expecting outstanding and it wasn't. Updating review because just stayed at a hest western at Bristol to go to longleat £81 breakfast another £12 each but well worth it

Another wonderful stay. Rooms are beautifully decorated and a decent size perfect for a comfortable night. Breakfast excellent with a great choice to set you up for a day exploring Southsea/Portsmouth.

Room was beautiful, large, very clean, warm and good value. Staff were very pleasant, efficient and helpful. Breakfast was from a menu. I had a cook breakfast; it was nicely cooked and the ingredients tasted fresh.

A beautiful, big bedroom with a large, comfy bed. A good size bathroom with great shower. Very good breakfast & lovely staff.

It is an absolutely lovely hotel. It feels completely different to any other hotel I've stayed at because of the way the properties are laid out. The room we had was large and beautiful. Everything you could want. We stayed for two nights and slept perfectly. The breakfast was a little disappointing for me just because the egg was very undercooked. But my partners breakfast was fine so I think it was a fluke rather than a problem. Super clean, super comfortable. No issue parking.

Quite poor. Wants to be a posh hotel but actually quite substandard. Had to ask for a new toilet roll twice (in the end night porter had to bring it over at 12.40am), room was not overly clean ( glasses, mugs had marks on etc) and the breakfast was slow, had to ask twice for extra toast. Not worth the money.

Pros - Beautiful spacious room. Very clean and comfortable. Modern bathroom with a large shower. Excellent breakfast choices, all well cooked. Very good location for the hovercraft and not far for major shopping in Portsmouth. Cons - The rooms are in a separate building to the reception and dining room. There are stairs everywhere so not good if you struggle. Parking is a major issue. The hotel has a few spaces but most is on street and difficult to find. The in room spa is a great idea but the masseuse was late with no apology. The set up was hurried and felt stressful and the massage was average.

Lovely rooms, well appointed, spotlessly clean. Comfy/cosy beds and a great breakfast. Just walk over the road to the Florence Arms owned by the same group for great beer and food in a lovely gastropub!!! Lovely stay here!!!
