A gem of history in North County SD! The docents of the historical buildings are generous with their time and knowledge. The train engineers started a little over time and let us go for a ride just before 1pm shut down time. The reenactment we attended was thorough about life in mid-1800s wild west. A fascinating visit, we will sure to return to! If we lived closer than Oceanside, we might volunteer to be train engineers!

Old Poway Park is located in Old Poway just outside of San Diego city limits. The park has restrooms, picnic tables and fire pits. Restrooms are located in the park and behind the Hamburger Factory. There is also an old museum connected to the Hamburger Factory on the back side. The Train does a couple loops on each trip with an extra loop on your birthday. Stroll along the meandering pathways or enjoy a peaceful picnic in our beautiful park. Weekends offer the opportunity to take a ride around the park on the Poway Midland Railroad. Visitors can also tour the Heritage Museum to learn about Poway's unique history and explore the Nelson House to witness what life was like in early 20th century California. Find local and organic produce and artisan foods at our Saturday morning Farmers Market and discover unique handmade treasures made by local artists at our seasonal Boardwalk Craft Market. *The Poway Midland Railroad, Heritage Museum and Nelson House are open on weekends only. Whether you want to watch the sun set over a picnic dinner, dance the night away at your wedding, or host a family gathering or reunion, our beautiful indoor and outdoor facilities and parks are the perfect location. This park is beautiful, quiet and just plain fun. If you go on Saturday there is a great farmers market. Many buildings are recreations of early Poway buildings. They have a small gauge railroad that takes tourists on a circuit around the park.

Poway park is a gem in our region. It is small but beautiful and nicely taken care of. It is great for kids to run around and feels very safe. I like how it isn't flat, but sloped and natural around the few old historical buildings. There is a nice playground, closed now because of COVID. But there is a snake of painted rocks to add to, a free book library, and trains. Sure, there is a very cool fourth of July thing. And the train ride can be great fun for the kids. But, just meeting someone under a shaded tree is nice. There aren't a ton of picnic tables or a ton of space, fyi.

Small community park with lots of country charm. A railway encircling the park with a real steam train which runs on the weekends, full of small winding trails through large Sycamore trees and bridges over a small creek that goes through the center of the park.

I absolutely adore this park. It is a perfect spot for photography, there's a great farmers market, and there always seems to be people there playing music.

Beautiful park with mature trees. It's great for a relaxing walk, and it has a nice water fountain. Saturday is busy with food vendors and farmers market and awesome vintage train rides.

Love this park so much. It's small, but probably the most famous park in Poway, with a lot of history. It's beautiful, has large, old trees, cool old buildings, an old train, The Hamburger Factory next door, and walkable distance to many other small businesses. It's a wonderful park. No playgrounds for kids, though.

Lovely, lovely park. On Friday morning quite with activities of walker and strollers of all ages. I enjoyed taking many photos and the Olde vibe.

Great for picnics! These days that we should stay outdoors, this is perfect to go to. Get your lunch and have a picnic here. Lots of big trees that give great shadow.

The train to nowhere. Kinda catchy when you realize. The structure is maintained and efficiently ran.

This is a nice park with historical information about the railroad and homes buibuilt in the early 1900s. It also displays history from the late 1890s. There are really good local eats. They have a farmers market every Saturday. There is also a small veterans park that honors the local veterans.

What a great place. It's like going back in time. Everything is so cute and quaint. The Farmer's market on Saturday's is always a plus and of course the train rides. Plenty of parking and restrooms, I'd love to see more seating to sit down eat when we visit the Farmer's market as we always have to get food.

So blessed to see so many people enjoying Old Poway Park on this beautiful Sunday afternoon. The train was going and the museum was open. We enjoyed a short still thru the park with our dog.

A beautiful grassy area with large trees for shade. It also currently has water running through the creek since it has been a rainy spring. Good spot for picnics and to let the kids run. A small railroad track runs around the perimeter that can be ridden for a small price on the weekends. And on Saturday mornings there is a farmers market year round in front of the park on Midland Rd.

I come here to meet with my friends constantly, we have shared tears, laughs, arguments, I feel like we have truly created out own environment. It's really rustic and has nice places for seating. The events that go on there are phenomenal and there's performances that are played in the main area. The only downside to the park is that people have started to carve writing into the trees and it takes away from the natural feelings.

Decent place for a BBQ or a small gathering. You can book a spot in advance to make sure you'll have the space when you get there. It's not really much of a park but there's enough space to set up a party and for kids to run around. There are public bathrooms, and they're fairly well maintained.

If the weather wasn't so hot the park would have been a really nice place to play with my son also the restaurant is good very friendly but the museum needs more days open to enjoy

A very pretty place to spend an afternoon. The artist market was on when we were there. The train was running. The Folk Festival was going on, so there was plenty of music all over. I intend to come back at Christmastime. I hear it's quite festive.

A big but quaint park in the middle of Poway. There is no playground at this park but there's another park right across the street (in the north). There's a farmers market on Saturdays, and the train runs on the weekend (I don't remember which day). It's a great location for photoshoots.

Great local park. Has a train that goes around the park. They even have a steam engine that they bring out at different times. There's a restaurant, a Farmer's Market on Saturday & lots of picnic areas. There are other shops very close. The park has holiday specials. Christmas in the Park is great! Parking is not a problem. Lots of spots for photos too.

This place was lit up for Christmas on Dec 9th and 10th and it's a fun place to be at. Kids will love it. There is santa Claus with whom you can take pictures with ur family, and there is a lot of food stalls as well

Quiet, large old growth trees. Great place for a picnic lunch. Also has a mini railroad for the little ones but check to make sure it's operating. One of the original European settlers of the Valley is on the grounds and can be toured when open. A special place.

This is a great park. Lots of shade trees, lawn area, picnic tables, and a little creek. On Saturdays, there is a wonderful farmer's market. Some of the historical houses might be open. And then there is the train or trolly the circles the park. On Saturdays, there is always something going on.

  • 5/5 James B. 1 year ago on Google
Great place to relax! Lots of picnic areas. Be sure to check out the historic Poway Railroad and museum. Fun area for the kids, too. On this Saturday, they had a huge farmer's market, so check ahead.

We enjoy gathering after church service on Sunday for special occasions. Potlucks and great fellowship in the beautiful outdoors. The children enjoy it also. Train rides, playground or take our own volleyball net for a game or two, most likely more. Plenty of parking. Restrooms available and clean.

Beautiful and quite park. Nice place for us seniors to walk and relax. There are a lot of big trees and perfect shade to enjoy nice breeze. Me and my husband took our own chairs yesterday. It was a perfect day. It was not very hot and breeze was really pleasant. I saw a few people having dinner and different benches. People were very careful and had proper distance.

Always a fun place to visit especially if you like nature, I enjoy going here and walking around and in general enjoying the view and beautiful area around the park, I also like looking at the buildings and the others random things thrown around, I enjoy going here and personally recommend it to anyone who may happen to be in the area!

Beautiful park with railway tracks around it. You can't see the train as it was locked up but they had some old boxcar out you could look at and take photos in front of. Everything is set with an old town type of vibe. There's a grassy area with trees, a small pond with fish in it, different fruit trees and old buildings to see. Across the street there is a baseball field, small play structure, a free little library, a rock snake and a walking path.

    Nice park

  • 5/5 Mary S. 3 years ago on Google
Such a beautiful place to bring kids. Walking paths, a creek and grass for the kiddos to play on. There is no playground equipment here. There is a real train which circles the park but it isnt in operation during restrictions. Next to and across from this park are many food options. All 5 of our kids grew up visiting Old Poway Park regularly!

What a lovely area of Poway! If, for some reason I could no longer live in Oceanside, Poway would definitely be my next choice! The park is quaint but very nice, includes public restrooms and picnic tables, biking and walking trails with restaurants nearby. Children-friendly place. 🌈

It was real nice. The city of Poway finally opened the play ground. Myself, I love the part of they park where the train is. It'd beautiful, probley the best place for taking photos. So many seniors go there to take their senior photos. Wedding photos. The tress, all three green grass truly one of the most relaxing placed sitting in the shade on a Sunny day sitting in the shade so relaxing and beautiful. I've lived in Poway since I was 12 I am now 61 I love it here a small community. It it's a little city in the country. I love it heart a beautiful place to raise children.

What a lovely park with trees all over even on hot days you can find plenty of shade but not necessarily a lot of reprieve from the heat. There are wonderful places to take pictures or have a picnic or just enjoy nature.
