Alas, it's a sorry state of affairs just now. What should be the picture postcard brochure photo is now a building site with major construction of underground pipes. It's not really the place you want to sit out and eat amongst pipes, lorries, diggers and rubble. No sir, find somewhere else.Having just come from Krakow and Wroclaw Old Town Squares, which are beautiful, this is a big disappointment. The restaurant owners bordering the square must be feeling the impact on their trade.

The market place is beautiful but currently in a great disarray due to construction works. The square is surrounded by restaurants with staff calling you in. They are polite and accepts your first no. There are some good restaurants in the area, a bit pricey compared to the restaurants a few hundred meters away. But the view is great!

The square will be amazing when is complete. However, there is a good bit of building work going on. It's still lovely in parts with many great bars and resturants and of course ther 12pm goats.

The most beautiful historical city center in Poland! The town hall is impressive surrounded by colorful building around it. Also you can find several Fontaines with Greek statues, which is very nice at photos

Poznan’s square is very beautiful. It was very colorful and spacious I like many other squares. The architecture is unique and great for photos!

The Old Market Square and its surroundings are among the most interesting places to see in Poznań. The Renaissance town hall, old houses, charming side streets, numerous museums, monuments, restaurants and people walking about - all of them create the unique atmosphere of the place. It is definetely the heart of Poznań.

Don't even bother visiting at the moment, the whole place a massive building site. Most of the ground has been dug up with some rubble and fencing for pedestrian footpaths. It looks like the site will be under construction for some time. 12th July 2022.

The town itself is beautiful with a-lot of bars and restaurants around, problem is there is big construction going on that probably over almost 50% of the whole area. Still worth visiting!

Beautiful old square. Currently the whole area is being dug up for refurbishment so it looks like a building site. It is confusing to wonder why they would dig every street up at the same time then not be actively working.

UNDER RENOVATION!!! If you planned to visit the Poznan for this great square. Don’t!! It is heavily underconstruction. Not sure when it will be finished. This make the city can’t be enjoyed 100%

Beautiful city center with impressive buildings! Unfortunately the entire Old Market Square is under reconstruction until August 2023, so it will be a bit dusty or muddy if you visit before the end of that period.

Incredibly beautiful. Amazing to see the building signs from centuries ago, riddled with bullet holes above the new signs when they were restored.

It was under reconstruction when I was there but it doesn't matter because I still felt the great Spirit and genius loci of this city. In one word: beautiful.

I would prefer to say that I went at the wrong time because construction was ongoing, but even so, I could see some impressive architectural structures, churches, and other things. I imagine that if you guys visit after a year, you will be able to appreciate the location's true beauty.

Be advised that there is a massive construction project ongoing currently (December 2022) and is not scheduled to finish until November 2023 at the earliest. The entire square is being torn up - literally. All of the streets have been stripped of their cobbles and major digs are happening all around the square. That said, the buildings surrounding it are beautiful and the restaurants/bars are still open, so you can still experience it, but come expecting works. Will need to come back in 2024 to see how the improvements pan out. Score is for the potential (you can tell it's a beautiful square), minus 1 for the huge scale of the construction that obstructs all good views.

Still under maintenance since I visited here one year ago. But I believe it would be great after finish work.

At this moment here is under construction (as i remember last year was almost same) remodelling the square takes so long it will be very very beautiful & great when it's done. I will update with score 5 when they finish 😀

The coloured merchants' houses on all four sides are already stunning. Then add the majestic Town Hall and two rows of gorgeous buildings in the middle part. Of course merchants no longer live in the merchants' houses - the square is teeming with restaurants & bars. Watch out that the reconstruction work in the Old Town is still going on (August 2022) and the constant traipsing through improvised gravelly walkways takes the shine off a tiny bit.

Beautiful place, but under renovation during our visit. Beautiful houses, lots of cafes and restaurants, nice people, great atmosphere. We'll be back here

Beautiful place with lots of aesthetics cafés around. Due to construction, it wasn't the best time to visit in my opinion but it doesn't change a thing from its beauty. Must see.

During my travels, I've had the privilege to visit many places, but none have captured my heart quite like the Old Market Square in Poznan. There's something magical about this place that words can scarcely do justice. From the vibrant, historic buildings that frame the square to the lively atmosphere that fills the air, every moment spent here feels like stepping into a living postcard. The charm of the Old Market Square is undeniable, with its colorful facades, quaint shops, and cozy cafes that invite you in to experience the local culture firsthand. The square pulses with energy, hosting a variety of events and markets that showcase the best of what Poznan has to offer. Whether it's basking in the sunshine on a lazy afternoon or enjoying the enchanting glow of the lights in the evening, every experience here is imbued with a sense of wonder. It's in this heavenly corner of the world that I've found a place I long to return to, time and time again. So much so, that if given the choice, I would wish to reincarnate here in my next life. The Old Market Square isn't just a destination; it's a feeling, a moment in time that I wish to relive endlessly. It's a piece of paradise on earth, offering a glimpse into a life filled with beauty, joy, and an endless sense of discovery. To anyone who has yet to experience the magic of the Old Market Square in Poznan, I cannot recommend it highly enough. It's not just a place to visit; it's a destination to fall in love with, a place where memories are made and dreams are born. This square is truly a gem, deserving of all the praise and more.

Nice place to walk around. A few good cafes and restaurants too. There was a lot of constructions in the square causing noise. The show from the clock tower at midday, is pointless in my opinion, but this is just me.

so sad, it is 2years reconstruction downtown and nobody says it to you. On google maps you cant see closed roads. Hotels are quite about. It is dusty everywhere. Disapointed.

It will be a lovely place in one year or so. Right now it's a construction yard. But it's still cute and you can grab a pint in the outskirts.

Some days a market is held in this square, I recommend you to see this market where traditional products are also sold. You can also visit the "Musical Instruments Museum" right next to it. There are traditional musical instruments brought from all over the world in the museum. In addition, Chopen's piano is on display.

It's one of my favourite squares in Europe. Colourful buildings with beautiful facades. The town hall is enormous and grand. Currently under renovation and will be for another year, so come visit then.

Visited in August 2023: One of the best market squares in Poland for historical beauty, however unfortunately due to pavement repairs there are construction fences and equipment everywhere at present making it difficult to enjoy. When it rains, the current dirt surface turns to mud as well.

Very nice place to enjoy a walk with friends and family. However since several years, there are CONSTANTLY holes everywhere because they always make some renovation/construction and it kills the view and the spirit of the city. Also, guys you need a work bench immediately

Beautiful and clean. It would look even more pleasant after renovation and construction works are done. There are many restaurants iwth delicious polish, checz cuisines and pierogies places nearby too

Nice place but nowadays most part of has road-work. So if you go you can see many road-work and roadwork machines.

One of the most spectacular old town halls in Europe!

  • 5/5 Kandan L. 1 year ago on Google
It was fantastic. Beautiful old architecture seen. Too bad there is a lot of ground work being done. I say it will look amazing once the work is done

Such an amazing and well fixed up town square. Colorful ornate buildings with four Greek themed fountains in each corner, and a beautiful town hall in the center. The only downside are a couple terribly ugly modern buildings in the center. They really throw off the vibes.

  • 1/5 Brian P. 1 year ago on Google
Please be aware that there is heavy construction in this area, large fences have been erected,.heavy machine work during the day. All roads have been dug up so loose stones and dust everywhere. No chance for photography- restaurants are open but extremely noisy and dusty.

  • 4/5 Donald M. 1 year ago on Google
A very nice place, but remember, at present it's like a building site due to it being totally re done. I think their plan is to modernize the roads and pavements, drains, to make it easier for everyone to access. There are other parts of Poznan that are going through the same process. But boy was it hot when we were there. 39 degrees.

Very quiet square, various shows that make young and old amused. on Saturday evening it is very crowded and it is difficult to find free space in the various clubs

This is an amazing place, very old architecture, may restaurants around the square where you can eat local food, but a little expensive. Not much for for is traveling, but expensive for locals.

  • 5/5 Vishal V. 2 years ago on Google
Extremely satisfying, you can literally spend almost whole day without getting bored. Feel free to roam around the old square market.
