A great place to visit with kids over eight years of age. The exhibits are informative but require a good bit of reading. The text is in Czech and English which is nice. There are also hands on exhibits like the telescope and the meteors, both were very nice.

This is one of those things that it is not in the well known Prague attractions, but if you are interested in astronomy, and you don't have observatories publicly available where you live, is a great option. It is located on the mountain, you will likely visit the gardens, so a detour to visit the observatory is recommended. You can visit it during the day, we could observe the sun and Venus, and also during the night - only available on clear sky days. The staff is friendly and passionate about the sky, they are eager to talk to you and explain things. It was a great experience.

If you like astronomy, this is the right place to be. The staff is very kind and they are talking english very well so they will explain every thing that you want to know. We were here on day light so we couldn t explore the sky, just the sun. One member of the staff was drawing a map of the sun with some solar eruptions exposed.

Absolutely awesome 👍 Lot of info with hands-on experience. The staff are professionalls and capable to explain whatever to whomever. Best part - watching solar spots and eruption 👍 Next time, we'll try to go there at night.

What a great experience. It is not like any other museum in Prague. The staff wil turn the domes and explore the skies with you via the telescopes. Most speak very good English and others will help you as best as they can.

Great experience. Exhibits are both in Czech and English. Presentations in Czech only. We also had an opportunity to go up to the telescopes and look at sun spots and the staff recommended to return in the evening as they would be viewing Jupiter and Saturn. Seeing Saturn and it's rings was an amazing experience for our kids and they haven't stopped asking questions or reading about our solar system since our visit. Can't recommend and evening visit enough. The staff also did their best to explain everything in English so non Czech speakers won't miss out.

I have not entered here, since I could not understand whether this is a restricted place or allowed for public as well. Would very much want to enter too see astronomical exhibits. Nonetheless, the place is well maintained with very nice garden. Hope to come back once again.

If you are interested in Astronomy (not Astrology) you are right at that place! The gallery and info museum is so interesting and has a lot of information packed with in it. Also new informations about black holes, gravitational waves, etc are added so the informations are very new! I was blown away how many big meteorites they had! For younger people there are a lot of interactive elements which kids can play with. Very well made! Telescopes: We visited the telescopes in the day so we 'just' saw the planets. But it was a great experience to actually see planers during the daylight! :0 The telescopes are pretty old but they work well enough. The service at thoose telescopes was good but the people had difficulties in speaking English. They didn't know enough words for a further discussion about astronomy. A little bit disappointed but it was worth a visit overall!

A total hidden gem of Prague. If you are interested in astronomy, this is the place to go in the city. Huge Planetary Science collection with demonstrations on physics and hands on interactions. I would say it is tailored more towards kids and teenagers but there is definitely interesting stuff for adults and those interested in space sciences. I have observed Saturn and more recently the solar disk through their telescopes. That's one of the best parts!

An interesting place, especially for children. Several guides, however, all explain in Czech.

If you are traveling with children, this is a place to go. Employees there are local volunteers who are passionate about astronomy. They were explaining everything mixing with fun facts and legends. Place has interactive stands for entertainment

We went there in the late evening and it was great. Museum is pretty interesting and interactive and you could see celestial bodies through the telescope set up by the personal. Price is just 90CZK which made it totally worth it to spend the evening. (The funicular doesn't work after 23, so the only way to reach the city is on foot downhill, which is ar 10-15 min walk through the park)

The kids loved the exhibition, we could barely drag them away. The man in the observatory was very friendly and didn't mind the children returning for another look in the telescope, The family ticket is very cheap, too, it is well worth the money.

Not too big but a lot of information and interesting program. We watched The Adventures of Rosetta & Philae. Kids were excited and loved it.

A great hands-on observatory and exhibition of the universe from space flight, meteorites, supernova to black holes for the amateur astronomer and inquisitive children alike. Helpful staff offer explanations of exhibits and telescope observations . You can view solar Corona and Sunspots through the 40cm reflector telescope in Dome 1.

Stumbled across this while hiking up to see the Prague castle. Almost walked away from it as the door was closed during the stated opening hours. Thankfully we came back at 7pm. Entrance was 80kc per adult, with two floors of exhibits and a fairly comprehensive introduction to astronomy to the uninitiated. Write ups in English and Czech. Two of the three domes were open (and understandably cold in winter) with impressive telescopes over 100 years old. Visitors can climb on a step ladder to view stars through the eye pieces. There was some difficulty viewing some stars because of the cloudy weather, so checking the weather forecast may useful.

We took a Bolt ride to the observatory to find out that it was exceptionally closed today. We understand that technical difficulties happen but this change wasn’t advertised anywhere except on the door of the observatory. We are incredibly disappointed, the lack of information is highly unprofessional.

Open to public. You can see the Sun using main telescope during the daytime, stars and the Moon during nighttime (7-9pm). There is moon landing exhibition, star stones showcasing (you can touch moon stone there) and much more. Ask local stuff for help. On first floor, there is a science exhibition dedicated to light, light sources, optics, etc. My recommendation would be to join it with watch tower visit and than you can continue to Prague Castle.

Very interesting way to spend an afternoon. Would be great to come back on a nice clear winters evening to take a look at the moon through the old historical telescope!

We visited it during our night walk. Luckily they are open every night and we were lucky to observe Saturn. Other observations were also very interesting, especially the Moon. Every staff member is professional and enthusiast. They were able to answer every question and explain everything clearly so we could easily understand what we were looking at. Exhibition of meteorites was just a cherry on top. There are also educational exhibtions with interesting stuff to try and learn about.

Other reviewers have commented on what makes this so fascinating. It is the hands-on element of the experience and some awesome staff (or they might be volunteers, I didn’t ask). Take your time and read all the panels and labels - there is so much awesome material. I have zero interest in astronomy, and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Great. I liked it very much. The sun telescope was very nice experience with helpful and polite guide who explained to us a lot of interesting facts about the telescope.

Really nice observatory and cafe. Normal prices compared to city ones. Also the staff is very friendly and knows English. You can also look through the telescopes. If you are up there I would save the money for the mirror maze (only 30 sec to walk through) and spend them over the observatory.

Amazing staff! Educative yet quick exposition with night and day sky observatory!

  • 5/5 Tracey S. 2 years ago on Google
Fantastic, knowledgeable, and patient staff to guide kids looking through proper telescopes, and to answer a million space questions! Cool collection of meteorites, too. Small exhibit space, but the staff more than made up for it (except the lady at the cash desk, she was kinda rude)… Highly recommend. (The only drawback was that there was no cloakroom, so we were stuck lugging coats and stuff all over the place. A simple coat rack or 2 would have been appreciated.)

We stumbled upon this place while we walked through the park and we did not know what we could expect from the museum, however for the price we had to pay for a ticket we thought "why not try it out". And it turned out to be amazing. Especially the guides. They were full of passion about this observatory and that really shined through in their way of talking about the subjects and the telescopes. I would really recommend visiting this place!!

👍👍 A very good swimming pool in comparison with others in Prague. Not ver big but with a original design. Nice chill out areas, garden and terrace. Good views. As there is no hills around, the shadow starts later (opposite to petynka or podoli).
