Verbena restaurant has everything my wife and I look for in a fine dining establishment. Location, easy to find. Plenty of parking near the door. Diverse menu offerings. Bright , clean and convenient dinning room. Reasonable prices. Knowledgeable , helpful , and friendly staff. The eggs Benedict was delicious and prepared traditionally. My wife had the fish and chips also traditional and tasty. All served quickly and hot by an efficient and friendly pro. We are sure to return soon for dinner . Likely to become one of our favorite places to eat and entertain. We both felt welcome and as if we were on vacation in our own home town! Thank you for a pleasant and memorable experience.

We planned our daughter and future son in laws engagement and after party at Verbena. From our very first visit until the conclusion of our event we were treated with such kindness and professionalism!!! We worked with Anna planning every little detail from a romantic dinner for the couple in the perfect booth, to an engagement on the bridge concluding with an after party celebration with our closest friends and family in the private room!! Anna was so lovely to work with and made the entire process seamless and stress free. The service and food was exceptional !! We will treasure this night forever and can not thank the entire team at Verbena and at The Inn at Meadowbrook enough!!!

The place is very nice. Food is great. I love the spring vegetables I ordered. The ambiance is amazing, the outside seating by a pond and water fountain are perfect for sunsets viewing. The place is located in an upscale area and is an upscale itself. Parking is tight though. But Me and my friends had great time here.

So delicious. The linguine and clams were to die for; fresh made linguine. Some of the cleanest oysters I’ve ever had. Plan on going back. A+ on everything.

This was our first visit to Verbena which opened in mid-2020. It was a perfect Saturday evening in KC metro area and we were committed to finding place we hadn't tried that offered al fresco dining. Immediately Verbena came to mind and we excitedly dressed appropriately for this casual fine dining experience. Arriving at the property which was formerly Meadowbrook Country Club that has recently been developed into a mix of retail, residential and upscale apartments. This complex is stunning, located in Johnson County Kansas side of the metro area. Combined with the breeze the low humidity and temps in the high 70s we felt transported to ShangriLa (That's a good thing right?). As we approached the restaurant we noticed everybody parked along the street leading to the establishment so we found the closest spot available and perfectly parallel parked our chariot. We quickly exited our vehicle with both a sense of excitement and nervousness. Will it be too full? How long before we'd be seated? OMG what a beautiful night! As we approached Verbena we walked right past the outdoor dining area and it was a gorgeous setting with stone, string lights, beautiful and massive flower arrangements, a lakeview and many people enjoying the experience. Once inside a warm and friendly hostess approached us and asked if we had a reservation. We cheerfully said no but that was okay because we were going to sit outside. Her smile narrowing ever so slightly told me everything I needed to know... We were going to be eating inside 😩 Like the professional gourmands that we fancy ourselves to be we took it in stride. It was our first meal of the day so we were anxious to get the ball rolling. Perusing through their offerings of adult beverages they had a very good selection of wines which is expected, some interesting cocktails if a little on the sweet side. Surprisingly no Manhattan's or Old fashioned on the menu which have made a huge comeback the last few years. No worries you can still order them and we did and the barkeep did an outstanding job and they have large ice cubes 👍 We took our time perusing the menu. On the left side appetizers, salads and small plates. On the right side all their main entrees price from $25 to $33 each. We settled on a couple options, a Char fish option and Shrimp and grits. The Char dish was delicious light flavors but very balanced nothing overpowering and perfectly cooked. The shrimp and grits which I usually avoid because it's all too common these days was recommended and I was pleasantly surprised with its strong and bold flavors. Before our entrees arrived we chose to share their version of a wedge salad. It is not your typical wedge salad and it was fantastic. As expected for this price point the service was warm and friendly, very Midwestern if a tad on the slow side. I deduct ZERO points for slow service until 2022. Most establishments are understaffed and it was a busy night and everyone was busy yet managed to maintain a Midwest nice composure. Hat tip 🎩to the staff. After dinner we were determined to enjoy some time outside so we ordered a couple of after dinner drinks and headed towards the patio to enjoy the lights the flowers and the lake... it was heavenly. Shortly after we noticed a fire pit that drew us in on that that beautiful night. Luckily there was plenty of room around it and we snagged a couple of comfortable rocking chairs and ordered another round of adult beverages. It was truly a fantastic end to a beautiful Kansas City evening 🙏 Verbena is part of the structure that houses the Inn at Meadowbrook. We took a walk in the lobby and around the property and we're excited to not only dine again at Verbana but stay at The Inn.. gorgeous. So value is a relative term, I can tell you that it's easy to spend $70-$100 per person (tip included). Given the experience I just shared with you, for us it was memorable.

Gem of a restaurant at the Inn at Meadowbrook. Intimate setting with ample outdoor seating on beautiful nights overlooking the pond. Food was delicious, waitress was delightful. Best part was telling the sommelier our order and allowing him to select a bottle to compliment our dinner. Fun experience in a great setting! Excited to return.

The restaurant and hotel are beautiful. We were disappointed in our food and service however. We ordered the pork chop that was mainly fat, disappointed as it was pricey. I had a mediocre chicken breast with 4-5 small pieces of their "honey glazed carrot"; it was more of a garnish. The stuffed pepper was good as was the salmon. For the price, not worth the spend.

We made reservations about a week before my birthday and the wait staff was able to find it immediately and get us seated. Our waiter was fabulous as was our food. We ordered a four-course meal and everything was delicious. The lobster bisque was truly delicious and satisfying, especially with a few dips of the Parker rolls! Our waiter was very attentive during our nearly two hour meal. My husband and I ordered our four courses upfront and then went deep into conversation. We really appreciated how smoothly our waiter checked on us without disrupting the flow of the conversation. Our food was smoothly served and dishes were taken at every point. When it came to dessert time I was honestly as stuffed as one could get. I ordered a cup of Irish Cream coffee, it was a bit strong and I couldn't drink it. The waiter insisted I have it replaced with something else I liked being the birthday girl and all. I let him know it was okay, if I had anything else I felt like my side would burst. I wasn't even able to finish my lamb chops (last course) which were SUPERB!! Do not balk at the fact they are cooked to about medium well. The sesame, the sauces, the tenderness of the meat and seasoning of it all just brings it all together into a mouth-watering layered taste. For the most part, this was the case for all of our food, layered flavors. Take your time and let the food sit on your palette. It is sooooo good!! We were so busy talking I only thought to take a picture once the last course arrived. We will be back, our anniversary is right around the corner and hopefully by then we can try the fall season menu!!

Excellent dining experience! We came here for my Mom’s birthday and ended up reserving the private room near the back of the restaurant. It was a quiet Tuesday night so we basically had the whole place to ourselves. The staff was all incredible and really took good care of us. The cocktail menu featured a lot of creative drinks plus a good selection of straight up liquors. We all ordered a cocktail but we actually ended up bringing two bottles of wine for dinner. Just a side note, they charge a $25 corking fee (which is very reasonable) and they limit two bottles per table if you’re bringing your own wine. There was a great list of starter bites and ended up ordering the Top Neck Clam Stuffies, Dressed Eggs, Smoked Salmon, and braised cabbage (which is technically considered a small plate but we ordered as an app). I’m not a huge seafood person so I just tried the Dressed Eggs, which were amazing, but everyone else said the other items were phenomenal. There was a great assortment of main dishes to choose from. The menu is heavily dominated by seafood items but they had a few items for meat lovers. A good majority of us actually ended up ordering the Grilled Pork Chop, which was out of this world! A few others ordered the Braised Flat Iron (steak but is cooked similar to braised short ribs) which was amazing as I got to try a small bite from my girlfriend, and then a few ordered scallops and the monk fish special. Overall, we had an awesome experience dining here...the service was spectacular, the drinks were great, and the food was delicious! Can’t wait to come back!

I was feeling a little fancy today in my polo and khakis and decided to try this spot out! The menu was enticing and I hadn’t heard of it and only found it by a Google map search of the area I was in. This place was divine! The experience was wonderful and the food did not disappoint. Very comfortable seating and staff. My waiter was pleasant and extremely attentive which is a big plus. The menu was a fantastic array of seafood and grassland animals as well as some intriguing salad options. Hard to choose so I opted for the muscles and the chicken. Hey also brought me some house made rolls as you see in the photos. I used them to dip in the highly addictive coconut milk the muscles were cooked in. The muscles were perfect and delicious but the secret “sauce” is the real highlight of that plate! Get some rolls of crostinis to soak up that milk...do not let it go to waste!! As for the rolls themselves they definitely had a delectable freshly baked smell and tenderness. I plowed through 3 of the four they brought me...couldn’t help myself. As for the chicken, it’s a great day when the chicken skin is crisp and has a light crunch while the meat is moist and tender requiring minimal effort with the knife to cut. So delighted by this dish and even the white miso ginger rice was a hit. In fact I started to douse the chicken in the rice for a combo but but realized in this case the individual components deserved their own moments of savory goodness and it would be a disservice to have them overlap each other’s flavors. Overall highly recommended and I would def get both dishes again. Treat yourself, you will be happy you did!

I had a pleasant time at Verbena, the food was incredible. The lamb chops were cooked at the perfect medium rare I ordered. I also had a Barrel Rider cocktail, and it was as smooth and flavorful as any quality cocktail can be. The crab and artichoke dip was exquisite and you actually get a decent amount. The bread was soft and perfectly baked. I highly recommend checking Verbena off of your list. It’s in a beautiful location and you can even take a walk by the pond after you stuff yourself.

Verbena was a fantastic experience in a beautiful location. They have a wonderful wine list and an additional reserve list. The cocktail list is a limited to six drinks but is definitely a highlight of the experience The Violet Sour and Green Is the Valley cocktails were both refreshing and unique. The duck meatballs were absolutely amazing and the seared scallops over black rice will be a go to item for me on every visit. The Ice cream sandwich desert was a perfect finish to the meal.

My husband and I had our wedding reception here, and it was absolutely perfect. Zach and the whole Verbena staff did a wonderful job organizing and serving. We did a brunch/lunch for 38 with a cocktail reception before hand. Everything went off without a hitch, and my guests all remarked how it was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding. I highly recommend the Inn and Verbena for weddings and receptions! Thank you all for making our wedding the best!

Perfect atmosphere, thankful that our knowledgeable and attentive waiter made excellent recommendations from both the food and dink menus. We enjoyed all of our dishes and felt welcomed and celebrated by the manager (I had mentioned in my reservation we were celebrating my birthday). Very impressed, will look forward to our return.

First time visit with my group and I am VERY glad I made a reservation, this place fills up! From start to finish, everything came out hot and fresh as promised. It was interesting being asked our order for the appetizer/salads/entree’s at the same time (was told it assists the kitchen to course out our meals) but it worked perfect! We will absolutely be planning another visit again!!!

Love this place! I have come here for dates, Christmas Eve dinner with family & just a great lunch out with friends. Honestly never had one item off the menu that wasn't very delicious. They also do a great jobs of seasonal items.

Delicious food and great service. I had crispy egg bites, New England clam/seafood chowder and poached cod. Highly recommend the eggs. They were absolutely perfect. My husband ordered the pork chop and it was much better than my entree. Over all delicious but be prepared to pay more than you'd expect.

What a gem! Are here a few times during my stay. Highlights were def the burger (served during lunch and HH only). For dinner really enjoyed the bang bang shrimp, beef tartare, wedge salad, carrots and hummus and pork shank. Everything was so good and the cocktails were top notch too! Will be back. The wait staff was very friendly.

Every item we ordered was so yummy. The steak tartare was absolutely delightful, perfectly seasoned and the egg was the best I've ever had, very unique. The clam chowder soup was yummy, the wedge salad also nicely prepared and the duck was exceptional. Topped off the meal with an espresso and chocolate torte, both wonderful as well. Just a great experience, the atmosphere on the patio very comfortable and beautiful scenery. The inside very warm and gorgeous .The staff also very attentive and knowledgeable. We will most definitely return

Server was fantastic! My chocolate layer cake & affogato was delicious. Look over menu before going... if your cool with the options & price $$$. Enjoy! The people I ate with enjoyed their dishes, but it's not my chosen fare. Nice atmosphere.
