Nice hotel. Strategically located in the centre of the city. Nearby happening places and shopping centre. The nearby bars can be loud at night. But if you don't mind noise much. That might not be a problem. The staff are friendly and helpful especially at the restaurant. It would be nice if the management begun improving the TV's and a few aging things. Otherwise the beds are super comfy.

The hotel really meets the standards, the location, the staff, services are really the best. would definitely check into this hotel again whenever i'm around the area.

Home away from Home this gem is , The Restaurant is just impeccable and the staff is hands on . From the moment you get on to the drop-off zone into the Reception till the lobby its great feeling and takes you away from the buzzling crazy city experience outside. City Lodge has always been my favorite when travelling and even better the uniformity of both the experience and the layout is golden as it simplifies one's life.

Nice place and you won't spend so much time driving looking for shop's. All you need is to walk across the street

The rooms don't play Supersport so if you're staying here for any of the games you have to go to the dining area. We've stayed here overnight and also had meals in the dining area as stay out patrons...the menu was a la carte but the catering team which we were told to order from made us feel like we were highly inconveniencing them when we came in and tried to order. This was made worse by the contrasted chipper and energetic smiles they drew on when white customers pulled in. The food was alright but the experience really dimmed any good flavor.

Loud bar about 200m down the road who's music goes on into the buttcrack of dawn. Rooms are nice, wifi is very slow. Outside area is beautiful and clean. Service can be better. We asked for extra milk and coffee for our room as we didn't need it made up, only to be told go to the cafe and ask for a jug of milk. Difficult to get a hold of cleaning services and also room 207's shower leaks very badly.

The rooms were constantly cleaned which is good. So cleanliness 10/10πŸ”₯ The food was HORRIBLE! The rules when it comes to buffet, you are monitored when it comes to taking what you want to eat, you can’t take pork and fish and you are limited to one piece of whatever you take. Out of the 6days I stayed here, only on Wednesday did I enjoy the food, which was oxtail stew, steam-bread, and vegetables. There’s no bottled water ỉn our rooms. You must buy your own water or drink tap water.

This was the worst experience ever. I will never stay here again, and I will never recommend anyone to stay here even if it is the last place to stay. I would recommend you rather change your dates than stay here. The towels are so old they look like a towel you would use to dry a car. Everyone is full of promises and delivers nothing. They ask you what you want to drink, and then it never arrives. The food the one time took over an hour and a half to arrive. The manager also makes promises and does not keep it them at all. If someone messed something, it would stay dirty for a few hours before something was done about it. They don't do any maintenance on the rooms. They rooms are noisy. You can hear the road and nightclub. When you call to ask for another room, they stay there is nothing we can do, the noisy normal dies down by 3am. Firstly, there were never plates and bowls by the breakfast area you had to ask. Then when they did arrive they were dirty. It is a miracle that I did not get sick from this place. These are just a few of the bad things that have happened during my stay. Don't do this to yourself. Rather, stay somewhere else.

Great location. Francinah was friendly Check in and check out was smooth The Night manager was visible at all times Great breakfast We asked for iron and ironing board and never got, for this reason we couldn't dress up for birthday dinner celebration. We had to be in the same clothes we were the whole day Upon making a dinner booking and mentioning it was a birthday dinner celebration; we got the look of "okay so what?" Birthday dinner celebration became ordinary

It was very noisy so I could not sleep. The food was disappointing. Opt to eat outside. The room was nice. Due to the waiter not communicating that I was R5 short which I only learned when I was checking out I had to swipe for that as my money was in the car.

Great value, great service and very friendly staff. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Backup generator during loadshedding and stable internet connection. Buffet Breakfast comes with a variety of options and at a good price. πŸ™‚

This was by far the worst hotel stay I have experienced in my life. I had multiple bookings before and this was truly a horrendous experience. It al started with me booking in the hotel. Leaving my room, with my bags unpacked, to have dinner, and arriving back 40mins later I came to my door with the key not working. I went down to reception to sort out the problem with them stating that they have no record of me being booked in or having a reservation for that matter. After struggling with the manager for close to an hour and showing him my booking, verified by City Lodge, him twiddling his thumbs and constantly saying he is unable to assist me. I later asked him to let me just remove my luggage from the room and that I would find another hotel. Only after an hour did sanity prevail and I was allowed to proceed to my room. Of the two lifts, only one worked and on some days I had to wait nearly 5minutes for a lift to arrive to take me down to reception. That parking tickets were also a huge let down. Reception for most of the time didn't have validated tickets and one had to ring the security to get out of the basement. Sometimes there were tickets and I was directed back to reception to get a validated ticket. The towels in the bathroom was torn and shredded, I would consider replacing them all. All of this screams of bad management. There is little to no leadership and no guidance. I would really consider replacing the manager or send him for training.

I am not happy with this hotel stay, the sheets are clean and bathroom towels, that's why I'm giving them a 2 star; otherwise, I would have given them a 1. The carpet is dirty, so if you have sinus problems stay away; the restaurant is bad that's just it.

Location not as nice as it use to be. Don't feel safe to walk around at night anymore. πŸ˜• Hotel has stayed the same for as long as I can remember, and the standard has dropped from its former glory. The food is not bad at Hatfield and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. For the price you cannot complain, good value for money. Pool could do with a little more attention and so could the shower heads in the rooms. Overall I enjoyed my stay.

Fantastic value for money. Friendly staff. Only complaint is that the toilets struggled to refill with water during loadshedding, but this is understandable due to the water pumps needing power. Also note that the location can get a bit loud on the weekends due to clubs being active nearby till late at night.

I was booked into the hotel by a client for work because of how close it was the location we were shooting in. It is an OLD hotel. I found the rooms a bit dated and clearly used. You can tell they've aged somewhat and need an update. However, my single room was more than satisfactory for a place to sleep in the evenings. Check in and check out was super quick and efficient. I also thought the staff were lovely. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic. Pork and Beef sausages daily, your choice of eggs and delicious pastries. The gym is a bit mediocre without much equipment. It is a dated hotel but if you need a spot to stay that is central in Hatfield this is a good place. My only advice would be to ask to be booked into a room on the other side of the hotel. The ones on the street have to deal with night club music most nights and a few colleagues complained that they got almost no sleep because of this.

Good place to stay in Pretoria if you’re doing business in that vicinity. Courteous staff. Well laid rooms. Close to malls and offices. Convenient location. Good service

Lunch time during the week - very quiet. Lunch not that great. Did not have mince for bolognaise, did not have the beer draft. Green salad not great - they had to look for vinegar and the avocado also not that ripe. My friend also did not finish his food - had too many carrots.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful and well decorated. It's easy to find and very central so the location is excellent even for a person who does not have a car. The service is impeccable and the staff is friendly and they make the atmosphere warm and welcoming. I thought the breakfast was expensive at first but you soon find out that its worth every cent. Everything from the food and atmosphere to the staff and cleanliness - chef's kiss.

If you want any form of decent sleep after a day of business, stay away from this hotel. A nightclub from hell is 50m down the road and doesn't shut up until very, very late. It's unbelievable that this is allowed at all....you can hear this club blocks away. City Lodge...why don't you do something??

Don’t ever stay here. The noise is the worst at night. You cannot sleep. The bar service is poor. I had to repeat the order for 3 beers 5 times. The pool and outside area is nice, but the whole experience is the worst we have ever had in South Africa.

The whole experience of the stay was a mixed bag. The staff are all very friendly and helpful but little things distracts from the experience being 5star. No teaspoons in the room. Just one towel for two guests. Even tho staff rectified this quickly little distractions like this happened multiple times over a 5 day stay.

Long check-in because they couldn't find the reservation I had already paid for. Noisy aircon. Hard, uncomfortable bed. Two pillows too soft, the other two too hard. Aircon noisy. Shower head leaked and sprayed the entire bathroom. One towel for two guests. No coffee in room, just tea. Dinners at the restaurant were the highlight - lovely wait staff, good food. And surprisingly, you can have a really good ribeye steak for just a little more than the price of the sub-par breakfast. Location was the best part - super close to Tuks.

Lovely hotel. Some snags which were not too much of a hassle but need to be attended to.Had to change rooms as the aircon wasn't working in first room and then the safe wasn't working in the second room.No bar fridges as well.Room was big though, but the shower had a bad leak.Pool was lovely, but so strange to walk through a 40th birthday celebration in my swimshorts to get to the pool as access is via the restaurant. If you're looking for a relatively nice hotel that offers a great location but minimal services then this would be a good choice. If not,try another hotel

I had a beautiful stay. I hope that next time there is a challenge in the hotel; it is well communicated or there is a plan B in place.

I can't say enough about the attentive and helpful staff at this hotel. The property and rooms are immaculate and the location was perfect for the purpose of my trip. It's close to the major embassies and next to an avenue with lots of mainly take out restaurants. Also the hotel restaurant is pretty good. Oh, and the room rates are very affordable.

The place was very clean, the room was quite spacious. The breakfast was amazing. I really enjoyed my stay at city lodge Hatfield and would go back there on any day. The only downside but not so major was the lack of a bar fridge

Very friendly team from reception, to the hostess at dinner and the cleaning team. The food was excellent, rooms are spotless and location itself is just convenient. Absolutely loved my stay and will be back.

I had a good time here. The bedroom was big and so was the bathroom and they also have a smokers option. But the service was the best thing. I'd there again and again. Keep on smiling πŸ™‚ keep up the awesome service.

The place is very nice but there is very poor customer service. One of the receptionist is very rude .....and the pool is very dirty as compared to other hotels..........and lastly the rooms are not cleaned on time. I would never agree to visit the hotel again.

Rooms are stunning, housekeeping is excellent, kitchen needs to get themselves in order especially with menu and food taste. It wasn't that good...both for lunch and breakfast x 2. However, breakfast staff was perfect, reception staff were hot and cold, parking security was lovely

  • 3/5 Zola G. 1 year ago on Google
The municipality has water challenges and so you are warned as you arrive that water could be an issue. However I was not prepared for the mid shower disruption in the morning even if I was forewarned. The brown water from time to time is hard to get used to. There are no fridges in the rooms. They only have two options for vegan meals, a burger which I did not try and an inconsistent salad when ordered two days in a row. Meat eaters would be happy here though. A plus though is that the place is clean though and some of the staff really does their best to β€œwow” you.

Lovely hotel. Very affordable. The air conditioning was just lacking, but other than that everything was great. Underground parking is also paid for by the hotel!

I haven't been to Hatfield in a while but requested to stay at the City Lodge as the service is alway ls good. This time around as always the service was good. My only issue was the problematic door handle to my room but the staff assisted me
