Such an easy, lovely, well kept nature reserve in Pretoria. There is absolutely no litter and there are some wild animals, a river, a bird hide, lots of plants and an on site restaurant. Children can do the hike easily. Just be sure to bring some water and snacks. Otherwise great hike that can be done in 1-2 hours. Not crowded at all

Such a stunning, well maintained park! Get there early, by about 7:30 the car park was full! Some super steep, rocky areas that might be challenging. The views are worth it though!

Well kept park, it was clean, paths were clearly marked (very important). If you’re looking for a relaxed 5km walk with family or friends, this is great, even has a toilet on-site and entrance is free.

I really enjoyed this hike, it was so beautiful. Lots of shady and forest areas. We saw some antelope as we started the hike. The hike was very easy, not much uphill. Would definitely recommend it for beginners and experienced hikers because it's so scenic. It was very clean and dusbins are strategically placed. There is not entrance fee.

No entry fee and you just need to give your name and contact number at the gate. It's a beautiful reserve with buck, zebras, guinea fowl and ostriches. A stream runs through it giving it a forest feel at some parts. There is also a bird lookout for bird lovers. There are quite a few uphills and the walk was about 4,5km

This place is a cut above. Entry is free, it is clean, the hike is moderate which can serve as an early morning nature fix, they are progressive enough to have a wheelchair trail too. Very accessible from the highway. It's safe. Lots of animals to see.

Free entrance. Clean. River is clean. Most of the 7km trail is in the shade. Saw zebras and a bush buck. Highly recommended!💜

Free entry. Parking within gates. Small nature reserve for short hikes. The path is a bit run-down in certain places but doesn’t hinder hiking. Not challenging for the avid hiker. Mostly shaded but a cap/hat is recommended. Lovely scenery with some animals; zebra and springbok.

We went for a family hiking on 20.9.2020. From the gate everything is very nice and professional. Security guards treat you well. The entrance is FREE. There is good parking space. Be aware that due to COVID restrictions, they will allow only 60 cars at a time, so it is much better to be there by 6- 7 O clock, otherwise you may be waiting in the que outside . There are 3 hiking/ walking trials. All are easy, VERY WELL Maintained and safe. I recommend you to go for all three trials. Unlike other hiking trials in Pretoria , this one is very green with lots of trees and small water channels which make the hiking a much more relaxing experience. They will not allow for any picnics, there is a nice restaurant on site. Overall an excellent place to walk with family, do not forget to bring your children.. it is worth. Will come back here again on a rainy day to feel a real rain forest experience.

It's winter and very dry but even so these trails are definitely worth doing. The paths are clearly marked, easy to walk and family friendly. You're looking at a 5 star restaurant and the service is impeccable. An all round excellent outing for the family.

Enjoyable walk in unspoilt quiet environment. Easy to forget that we were surrounded by residential areas. We only walked a few kilometers because we had babies with us. Paths were quite wet in places but safe enough. We saw ostriches, antelope, tortoises, guinea fowl, zebra and other buck at a distance. There are many bird species so spending time will be rewarding. Only negative comment is that paths can be better marked with distances. We needed to find a quick way back with the babies and needed to use a hiking app to get an idea where we could take a shorter route back. Obviously we would not need this after a few visits. We look forward to visiting again.

Great outing if you enjoy the outdoors. There is different hike routes, but I do suggest, challenging yourself and do the 5km hike. Coffee shop serves a pretty decent toasted chicken mayo sandwich.

Such a lovely place to go for a morning hike or walk. You are guaranteed to see some Zebra's and amazing views. The trails are clean and clear so it offers a very nice experience and you won't wonder off the trail either. The restaurant is also quite nice and you get to see the animals up close as they graze close to the seating area while you enjoy your meal.

The perfect getaway for a tranquil day. Although it’s near Moreleta neighborhood, it’s actually extremely quiet. You can even bring a book to read while watching some animals. The animals are quite friendly and used to humans, they can come as close as 50m. The Nature Reserve has a restaurant that offers food, so you can even go there for a date. I’d recommend for a laid back game walk or date.

Went for an early morning hike, the trail is 5kms, well maintained and marked. There are bird hides along the way. The trail is enjoyable, with a few slight uphills. We saw quite a few buck, ostriches and zebras. The restaurant has an interesting menu and reasonably priced.

Spectacular and breathe taking trials. However, I can't say the same about the restaurant's service, it isn't worth the cost. Beautiful view, amazing architecture and authentic antiques.

One of the better trails to walk in Pretoria. You can do a combination of trails that gets you a good 5km+ loop. Saw a couple of buck nice and close up, they are very calm so you can get a good viewing. Free entry with public toilets and a very nice bird hide. Safe parking and whole area fenced in.

I never knew about Moreletta Kloof until yesterday. My dear friend Ria invited me for a nature walk. What really stood out was the continuous twitter and song of the birds. It just brought peace of mind. The tameness of the animals were also amazing. There are a large variety of walks to suit your fancy. So, if you need to "get away from it all" visit Moreletta Kloof Nature Reserve. It's truly medicine for your soul.

A beautiful, clean and well maintained nature reserve with an easy - moderate walking trail. The nature reserve also has a lovely rest area and a well kept hide for bird watching. The reserve is also free of charge. This is truelly a gem in PTA east.

Fantastic nature reserve, there are some buck and zebras and a handful of ostriches. The reserve has a number of different trails available, each differing in distance and varying in "difficulty". There are benches along the trails to rest and bird hides. A small river flows through the reserve which adds to its beauty and attracts a wide variety of bird life. For those not wanting to enjoy the trails there's a great restaurant with a À la carte menu. There's a playground as well for the kids, next to a section of the restaurant's outdoor tables so parents can enjoy themselves and still keep an eye on the kids. Security wise there are guards at the entrance next to the parking area

Great for a family hike! Well marked trails, well maintained. Nothing too difficult, smaller kids can manage just fine. Take some snacks and picnic at a nice spot next to the spruit. Some smaller game species like Impala, Springbuck, Zebra, Duiker that you can view closely. Bird hides also available.

You can never go wrong with nature. Never. Moreleta Nature reserve is an underrated gem nestled in the everyday bustle and normalcy of life. The place is breathtakingly beautiful, serene and boasts a few surprises, if you're lucky. The trail is relatively short, easy and fairly flat, but so worth it, if you just want to relax, be in nature, reconnect or unwind.

Compared to the great reviews and other CITY OF TSHWANE parks, this one was bad. Trail path is ok, somewhat COVID 19 adherence. Yet the reserve is totally overgrown by WEEDS: LANTANA CAMARA, POM POMS AND BLACK JACK'S. they are however cutting down invasive trees. In the pictures attached is the pink pom poms, bright colour Lantana.

A very nice trail with much to see and quite a lot of shade so the sun doesn't beat down too hard. There's some wild life to see (our group saw a herd of zebras and a little buck) as well as a bird hide you can sit in and birdwatch. Be warned that the trail does have some rocky terrain up and down hill, but it is manageable. The longest route is about 4km.

Awesome walking/ hiking spot. Incredible views for being surrounded by residential areas. Incredible diversity with mesmerizing forests. Coming from Alberton I am familiar with Rietvlei, this is shorter but more intense elevation changes, awesome spot to go and listen to the birds and see the beautiful Protea's. Definitely coming back soon!

This past Sunday we decided it was time for nature and went out to Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve. It’s been 2 years since my last visit and this time around it felt new. As if I missed a few things when we were there last. Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve is in Eastern Pretoria. They have 2 not much of a challenge hiking trails. They are ideal for a Sunday stroll in nature. The trails are less than 5km in length and mostly covered by trees. Along your walk, you might be lucky to see small game species like the Bushbuck, Springbok, Duiker, Zebra, Blesbok, and Ostrich. If you are into bird watching they also have a bird hide. The cost of entering the Nature Reserve is free. They open at 06:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m. Monday to Sunday. If you get hungry they have a restaurant on site called Rademeyers. We did not have the time to give them a go so I don’t have anything more to say about that. I just think it’s a nice addition to the reserve and we will surely give them a go next time. All and all it was a positive experience for me. Thanks to Friends of Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve it seems to be well-kept. I did not see any rubbish around and the trails are well marked. So, if you are in the Pretoria area and need a dose of nature I recommend you give them a go.

Peaceful in nature! Free entry. Friendly staff at the gate. Walking trail tough at some places but very interesting. Summer would be beautiful when everything turns green. Animals very tamed. Quite a lot of them. Would go back al the time. Maybe a few toilets more would make this a perfect place. 💚

This relatively short hiking trail is easily top 3 of the most beautiful trails in Pretoria, it's frequented by people and has animals and a river. Depending on how you end the hike, it either opens up to a magnificent restaurant or the start/end point of the trail. The best part is that it's free, amazing. It's far better than most charged trails.

Definitely not for the faint hearted (or I'm just very unfit :). Lots of uphill/downhill climbing, steps, very rocky and uneven, long trails. Needs more seating available along the trails. Trails need more clearer signage, many times I did not know which path to take exactly. Toilet door doesn't close, so that was awkward... Saw beautiful zebras and bucks, and proteas. I think Duiker route is easier than Suikerbos.

Morletta Kloof Nature Reserve is a great place for a walk. The place is charming and the walk along the river in the indigenous forest is beautiful. The bird hide is a lovely place to stop and enjoy the bird life. There are buck, ostrich and Zebra's. There are also two handsome Leopard Tortoise who you may find along the way. You can bring your walk to an end at an excellent Cafe which has great coffee and wonderful wood fired thin crust Pizza.

Gate times are confusing and not easily available. Very limited number of people allowed in the reserve so it is luck of the draw if you get in or not after waiting for a VERY long time in a queue. Get there very early and wait wait wait if you want to get in, else just go to one of the many other places in the nearby area for a walk.

Good, solid, short distance hiking. Perfect get-away from city life. Easy to intermediate short hikes for the whole family. My kids (5 & 6 years) have done all the trails with me. From open grass and bushveld savanna to nice wooden areas. Lots of fantastic opportunities to see African herbivore up close. Great reptile sightings and good for the average bird watchers as well.

Love this hiking trail. There are a few trails to choose from ranging from very easy to moderate. In summer the forest areas is very beautiful. All the wild animals are a bonus.

Like being in the Bush. Some wildlife includes Zebra, buskbuck, blesbok and rooibok. Nice challenging 5km, 3km and 2km hiking trails.

We walked the entire circuit in just under 2 hours. The start to the trail was not clearly marked but we did find our way. Spring is such a perfect month to walk trails like this - the weather is just right. It's so good to have another free venue to enjoy this beautiful country we live in.

Wonderful ! - Easy trail for experienced Hikers, short but really well maintained. Moderate for beginners, please ask at gate where the start/finish is, it is not well marked. Really nice to see the municipality looking after a national asset. The restaurant is really affordable with their specials - Burger, chips and beer for under R100 !

My favorite place, great for hikes or just to take a little break and time out in a day to clear the mind and get back to nature. Fantastic place to take kids and teach them love and respect of the wilderness wild life etc.

What a beautiful place- very quiet and the trails are tranquil with stunning views almost the minute you walk in. Lots to see, so clean and parts of the trail are definitely friendly to young ones- it does her rocky and steep in some parts but it’s manageable. Very friendly security, they helped to orient me on my first visit- showed me the map and where the trails come out. Did I mention it’s free? Will try the restaurant on my next visit

I LOVE the Moreleta Knopf Nature Reserve. It’s a peaceful bit of bush and forest in an otherwise busy area. There are benches on all the trails (roughly three in total), with stunning views at every turn. The Staff are passionate about preserving the flora and animal life, working tirelessly to keep all healthy and beautiful. Animals including Zebra, Blesbok, Springbok, Ostrich and Tortoises can be seen and it’s a known and acknowledged norm to respect the wildlife - we are in fact visitors to their home. I try my best to go at least once a week for the privilege of getting some fresh air, a chance to forest bath and to exercise in nature. It’s the best place to go when technological and social duties become too much.

Absolute gem of hike. AmaInf scenery and streams. The restaurant wasn't great. Very Long wait for food. Pizza was inedible. We let the waiter know.

This is always a lovely trail to visit. The animals are the cherry on top! There are no longer any markings on the trails but the paths are very clear to see. It’s almost impossible to lose your way.

Lovely trails, route marking can be a bit better, especially if you want to run it at a fast pace. Beautiful scenery and a great experience with the animals being fairly tame
