Went on a Saturday afternoon, surprisingly not packed and ample parking. Bring a card to pay for your entrance fee. Pack a picnic, I found there was more than enough shaded benches so we didn’t even use our picnic blanket (maybe on busy days it may come in handy). The bathroom were very clean.

The Pretoria Botanical Gardens is a magnificent gem where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the busy city. The entry fees are R45 per adult, and definitely worth it! I didn't plan the visit so my attire was not completely suitable, a pair of shorts and tekkies will definitely be advised! The pathways are clean and routes well labeled. The restaurant's service is quick and the milkshake was good. Overall enjoyable experience.

A really well kept national treasure. It's huge, I was not able to go through all of it but it's such a beautiful garden with a variety of plants and flowers. Be sure to have picnic blankets and pillows for a relaxed afternoon

What a great day we had for a picnic. It was unbelievably hot and luckily there were multiple treats available for us to relax under. Please is neat and clean. Some animals around. Awill definitely recommend for an outing with the family. There is a place to have lunch and also a waterfall. There is also a hiking trail if you are up for the challenge.

Beautiful place! Lovely to walk through and see the waterfalls. There was some very loud music and party happening next door, which kind of changed the ambiance, but overall a wonderful and worthwhile experience!

We had a picnic and walked around. Beautiful gardens. On a Tuesday it is free to enter for pensioners, you only have to have your ID with you to enter.

I had a wonderful time visiting the gardens for a belated birthday picnic (a bit of a warning you aren't allowed balloons inside so mine had to wait the day in the car). It has gorgeous scenery, offers a nice peaceful environment and we has some little guests join us in the form of ducks and guinea fowls. There was decent and clean restrooms. It's definitely worth it for the R50 entrance fee. We had a wonderful day and will definitely be back again soon!

This is by far a jewel in the heart of Pretoria, these gardens takes you away to an oasis that only you can create in your mind. I feel that every time when I go for a parkrun or trail run that the gardens have a way of calming me down and letting me enjoy the moment. If you ever get the opportunity please make a point of taking a walk or even enjoying a picnic

I'm not sure where these other local guides come from, with their 5 star ratings, and I hardly see flowers in a bloom session. It's very dry, and beaches are all written on. It seems not even bothered to try to fix that, and fresh cuts in trees, ash amongst the nature just laying there like no tomorrow, can see how some plants are dying around it. This place should rather change its name to something else it's become more of a venue and graffiti crafting in benches and trees, unfriendly at the gate, they definitely love their phones way more than helping the customer, really bad attitude. At least the grass is green. Hardly see wildlife, but I guess all the clubbing performances chased them away. But for only a picnic, I'd say it's worth it some nice big trees for shade.

What a beautiful scenery of the plants you can imagine they have. I saw that if you're studying plants, there's a way to engage the institution. I had a walk on the day organised by the Department of Social Development, Minister Lindiwe Zulu. I saw a group of friends, couples, and colleagues who were enjoying their picnics. There's an entrance fee.

Nice walk and outdoor for adults, more than kids. I'd suggest a jungle gym or two for the little ones to make it more entertaining for them as there isn't much to occupy a almost 3 year old. Restaurant looks nice, looking forward to trying it some time.

The place is very beautiful and chilledπŸ₯°πŸ’š. You have to go early though because of long queues to purchase entrance ticket but once you're inside the atmosphere is just refreshing.. the space is very open and the trailers make it easy to navigate around. You can have a nice picnic with family or your partner 😊

The Pretoria National Botanical gardens offers lovely nature walks. This is worth a visit by the entire family. The kids can run and play on the beautifully kept lawns. There are public toilets and benches throughout the park. We thoroughly enjoyed this outing and will go back often. We had lovely take away coffee from the Milkplum restaurant and will come back to have breakfast under the trees next time we visit.

There's a restaurant for your convenience The place is nice and clean. I wish they put pictures of the plants you read about as there's more than one plant at a specific place and you don't know which is which. We enjoyed ourselves very much

Clean, safe and spacious. Not one kid in our group of 16, but we had fun like kids. Highly recommended for a day picnic. With the right company, you are guaranteed a wonderful time. Enough natural shade, so just bring along your deck chairs, foldable table and goodies.

Gardens are well maintained. The trails are clean and range from light walk to a bit more challenging. The front garden is usually used for concerts and outdoor events therefore wheelchair accessible but not for all trails. Good secure parking. Friendly, informative and helpful staff. The reception was the best host. Went out of her way to help us. We really recommend Pretoria Botanical Gardens for a family bit more quite day out. The birds and wildlife were also a great sight.

Lovely experience, highly recommended. The waterfall is a beautiful feature. If you're observant you will see dassies. Succulent garden is fascinating with very unusual species. Plenty of benches to relax, and picnic. The Dassie trail is a good mini hike, with views of the city.

Great family outing and a day well spent in this massive park. There's plenty picnic spots to choose from. It's a good place to learn about the different plant and tree species names and their usefulness. Beautiful forest like vegetation with a waterfall. There's a restaurant within the forest. There's enough parking and entrance fee is R55 per adult. The park was clean and all staff was friendly.

This place is beautiful, so great for a tranquil walk trough the sounds of nature, reading about the different plants and trees, just gorgeous! The happy birds manage to drown out the sounds of cars outside. Stunning for a picnic with loved ones or a blissful sit with a book under one of the beautiful trees if you fancy some time to yourself.

We had great fun and the atmosphere was absolutely beautiful, however I do think that the Pretoria Botanical Gardens should make it clear on their website that they do not allow alcohol. There were several visitors who had to return cooler boxes of alcohol to cars. But I loved it πŸ’•

Absolutely serene. Definitely recommend going here and taking the whole family, having a picnic and enjoy nature and the beautiful view of the waterfall. Take a hike up the mountain to get a gorgeous view of the land (slippery and rocky terrain, I wouldn't suggest for smaller children) .

The gardens are lovely an spacious with many areas to picnic. There are also spots where you can bring your own braai, music and enjoy the day out. There's a nice little restaurant on site (Milkplum Cafe) if you don't feel like packing a picnic. They have a very nice drinks selection that are both delicious and refreshing. There are trails to walk in the park, through the trees and up a little mountain. The trails are well-marked and there are little benches for a nice Pic, along the way. You can spot Guinea fowl and various other bird species. The park is also abundant in Dassie. A great day out for the family or friends!

Fisrt of all it's not expensive to enter at all. The price oer adult is R40 and childern is R20. The park is well maintained and very clean. I have noticed a few rubbish like plastic bottles and a few tins on the hiking trails, but other then that it was very neat. I will attach some of my photos that I took over the passed weekend.

Clean, tranquil setting with a large area to walk and space for picnics under large shady trees. There is a waterfall in the denture, and paved walkways roughly spanning a 6 km route. Walk around the waterfall area to reach a beautiful succulent garden. Centrally, the Milk Plum Cafe offers a shady area to have a light lunch or breakfast. Bring a picnic blanket and come and lounge on the grass.

The garden is well kept and a delight for anyone who loves nature and indigenous plants. The waterfall in the forest was a wonderful surprise as it looks very natural, we even saw tadpoles at the bottom. The little cafe was friendly and refreshing after a long walk through the grass lands (which was full of birds and butterflies).

It's always been nice to go there, just very sad to see that people liter their trash and stompies everywhere. It's becoming dirtier and dirtier, I'm guessing because of all of the events being held there, which also causes big disruptions at night and is ruining the biodiversity of the gardens

We were very disappointed: this garden used to be beautiful, neat and a joy to visit. NOW the beds are overrun by weeds, the plants look under-watered and the pruning teams who worked around us seem to have little experience with or interest in correct pruning techniques. In the bathrooms the many of the doors, toilets and taps are broken or flushing mechanisms leak. It is shameful that this once beautiful NATIONAL garden has become so neglected.
