I did a morning 2 tank charter with the Blue Wilderness crew and it was awesome! The team and captain were super personable and upbeat throughout the morning, gave thorough dive briefings and split the divers into two groups (beginner and advanced) which was much appreciated as this allowed our advanced group to check out some cool swim throughs and enjoy a longer dive. Our guide Sam was great and the Mac nut cookies provided between dives were delicious. Looking forward to diving with them next time I’m on big island!

Did a one tank manta ray dive with Blue Wilderness and it was a great experience. The team thought out the dive. The team puts out lights while you’re getting briefed. Then you drop to a sandy floor around 15 - 20 depth as manta(s) swirl through the lights and are right on top of you. At the end, the dive master puts a wrist light on each diver to ensure divers can be spotted as we come up. BCDs are put on and taken off in the water. Couldn’t be easier!

The Captain and April were fantastic! Our experience was spectacular! April was knowledgeable regarding the manta rays, she even knew their names. The Captain and April made sure we were comfortable. April gave us some tips on local places to visit. My husband and I had a wonderful experience and it will be one of our most memorable. Blue Wilderness, hands down is who peeps should book their manta ray experience.

My wife and I got open water certified with Blue Wilderness and it was a great experience from start to finish. I can’t imagine having a better instructor for the first two days than April. She brings tons of energy and attention to detail, and is an inspiration under water. My wife and I felt very safe and taken care of as we awkwardly adapted to the scuba process. Day three was when we finally put it all together and had a great day of diving with Sam, who was a very calming and reassuring presence. Boat captain Steve was a delight to be out with. And the boat itself was so fun to dive off of. We had a blast and would recommend/dive with Blue Wilderness again.

We did a multi-day dive with this crew around Puako. Overall a great experience. Among dive masters Flipper stands out but all are awesome including Sam, Chandler and April. The boats can be a little tight but they make up in experience and choice of diving sites. We also lucked out and ended up diving w 2 pods of dolphins the day before last (this did NOT bias my rating). We had a fantastic time and would definitely return.

We did the Two Tank Morning Dives on two days. The crew was very friendly and decided on the dive sites depending on the conditions. Putting on the diving equipment in the water was a new experience, as there is limited space on the boat. But it worked very well and the guides were always helpful. Our DM Flipper looked after us and did a great job. A refreshment after diving in the shop is also recommended. The freshly made sandwiches, hot panini and pizza were good.

Our tour guide April, diver Fantastic Sam and Captain Colin made this one of the best experiences my husband and I have ever had. We were blessed to see 4 Manta Ray which was so unbelievably breathtakingly cool, I’m so glad we went. I was so scared and April made me feel safe and she was so welcoming. We are so glad the locals recommended for us to do this, it was life changing. -Sarah

We did an evening manta dive with Blue Wilderness with our group of five, ranging from a new cert to my wife & I who dive a lot. The boat is no-frills, but that's fine as it's only about 20 minutes from the Puako ramp to Manta Point (by Mauna Kea Beach). We've done this dive before and it's nice that the mantas get a nice healthy meal for their nighty performance. April, has a marine science degree, gave an informative lecture on cool manta facts. Our divemaster, Flipper, gave a thorough briefing for the dive, for which they set up lights to attract the plankton to bring in the Mantas. You're given extra weights to keep you the sandy bottom for a half hour dive while the (half-dozen?) mantas zoom right at you and pull up to roll right over and loop around. Oh, and the cookies a great too, and you can also find them at the Puako general store.
