Hubby and I went as part of a city tour. It’s a huge indoor flea market with probably a couple hundred vendors selling grocery store items, clothing, candy, meats, you get it. I really thought about my giving this place four stars. There was nothing that they did wrong, necessarily, but they jack up the price when they see you’re a tourist. I know because I am fluent in Spanish and overhear. More often than not there are no posted price tags. It’s almost expected that there will be haggling, but I just find the whole thing embarrassing. This colors my experience so I’m not likely to buy anything. Don’t let me stop you, though, because it is a really cool place.

Large colorful market with hundreds of stalls selling a cornucopia of merchandise. Many of the choices are made for the tourist market and are not the best quality. There are several stalls with better quality goods. They also sell fruit and vegetables and other miscellaneous items. There are several food stalls and restaurants serving delicious Mexican Food at reasonable prices. Bargaining will save you money. Well worth a visit. While there wander through shops and restaurants along the Cuale River.

Lots of neat stalls with touristy souvenirs and arts and crafts. Polite vendors and a clean public bathroom and traditional food court upstairs. A good place to stop for a mid day meal that's good value and authentic. Helpful wait staff made us feel welcome and the food was delicious. Had a view of the river running just beside our table.

I love this flea market. We go to PV at least twice a year and this is one of our first stops when in downtown. The vendors have decent prices and a wide selection of souvenirs to choose from. It was sad to see that the Rio Cuale flooded them during the recent hurricane but they will recover.

Sadly I have to report that the Mercado is being torn down because of hurricane Nora. The building became to unstable after the Rio Cuale ran through it when it went over it banks. The poor vendors lost everything. I have no idea how these people will recover. Update to this review, after further review of the buildings understructure and foundation that had been effected by the force of the river. The engineers and government have now decided to repair the building to save the historical building. Great news for the owners of all the stores!

Nice place to stop by and buy souvenirs AND food at the same time. The food vendors are on the second floor and the first floor consists of vendors. You're able to find so many items you don't need but want. The prices are good and they'll bargin with you if you're truly interested in an item. They have fans running in their individual shops and it's not too hot inside. Super awesome place!

Pepe's tacos. Probably our favorite taco place. This is where we first had pork taco right off of the spit. You can't miss this place. It's right across from the Shell gas station. Very flavorful and only cost $20 pesos

Great place to buy souvenirs. One-stop shopping. You can find t-shirts, toys, bags, blankets, linens, shoes leather goods and much more. Most likely the best price and vendors might bargain with you if you buy a few items. They prefer cash over credit cards.

I really love going here to eat on the second floor, very affordable, and they have a great selection. The best Tortas de pierna you will find at Loncheria La Marina.

Lots of shops with repeating items but interesting and something for everyone. Hard to keep the kids hands to themselves as there are so many items easily within reach. Purchased a large wall hanging mask for $60 usd.

There are lots of shops inside. Restaurants in 2nd floor is by the river and it has a good view. The market is definitely a place to check out for souvenirs from PV. Even just browsing through here is fun.

So much color and culture! The plaza was full of life, music , food and shopping. Every day we found something new. The food was spectacular. Loved being able to watch the food being made. The employees were all very nice, helpful and attentive. Helpful hint: bring a handheld fan and a bottle of water with you at all times. It is hot and extremely humid most times.

The staff are 5 star which brings my star value from 3 to 4. They are currently doing a lot of renos to spruce up the place. Location is 5 star.

Vendors and shop owners are friendly and will love to make you a deal. Shops are clean and you can easily find gifts to pick up for friends and family.

The atmosphere in these markets is lively and energetic. Vendors are friendly and eager to share the stories behind their products. Bargaining is common practice, so don’t be shy about negotiating for a good deal. Engaging with the local vendors can add a personal touch to your shopping experience. While the markets offer a wide variety of items, it’s important to exercise some caution when making purchases. Ensure the authenticity of any high-value or antique items, as counterfeits can occasionally be found. Overall, the souvenir markets in Puerto Vallarta are a vibrant and enjoyable part of the city’s culture. They provide an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the local scene, find unique keepsakes, and interact with friendly vendors. Whether you’re looking for gifts for loved ones or a reminder of your trip, these markets have something for everyone.

Wonderful, scenic, clean and vibrant city center market with sweeping vistas of the bay minutes away with waves crashing in on a spectacularly sunny day! The colorful shops with diverse products to sell make for an unique experience and street vendors selling local delicacies will leave a distinct mark with pleasant memories.

On one side almost centre of the market is the best leather shop. Better quality and prices than the one by the Rosita Hotel. Just be aware of sizing ladies. My friend bought a dress she was told would fit her and it didn't. Cotton is the better deal than the rayon dresses in some shops.

I always have good and not so good experiences there. Most vendors are okay, but others are overbearing like the dude we dealt with on the top level of the mercardo. We were blessed to have purchased a beautiful mask near the Romantic district. The price at the Mercado was double!! Because we had already purchased one, we didn't want two. Hard sale with little class.

The market has a variety of souvenirs and food. I would like to comment about the food. We ate at Don Toño restaurant. The food was very good, fish was fresh and tasty, seafood soup was delicious and the chilaquiles were good. If you want something local and true to PV, this is the place that you are looking for.

This is our favorite market in PV. Vendors are friendly and always willing to haggle. Pick up your gifts for family and friends. The food vendors on the 2nd floor are delicious!

Mostly "curios" stands and tourist hawkers. But several fresh food and meat stands for your shopping needs, and ready made food stands. You can spend a good 2 hours just browsing without spending any money... but do support your local merchants, they rely on you

My husband and I got there late everytime we went so I didn't give 5 stars since there's a lot of the Mercado we didn't get to experience, but the vegetable selections were great. Multiple stands were still open even at 2 each day that we went so we had options which was great and all had good produce. When we're anywhere in Mexico we like to get our produce and tortillas at the Mercado, and the rest of it at Chedraui, Soriana, or Mega.

I visited here in 2019 and absolutely loved it. I could not wait to get back in 2022. Unfortunately, it changed significantly over the pandemic, and when I returned, although it was lively and colorful as before, the souvenirs were generally just like all the other markets along the riverfront. The artisanal element had disappeared, and the shopping was basically just touristy, which I did not want. T-shirts, keychains, mugs, etc. The items were no longer a bargain. I was very disappointed with the experience in general this year. I could not find a local market in town that compared to this lovely market in 2019. There must be one, but, sadly, I couldn't find it. If you're looking for souvenirs in general, you will find plenty there and all around it.

This flea market has a lot of vendors. Don't buy anything until you have a chance to walk at least one building. Most of the deals are up front but some of the vendors has different merchandise. We walked two buildings and we were exhausted but got good deals.

Fun if just a tourist thing. Need a wallet or silver jewelry some hats or whatever it here , enjoy.

  • 5/5 Jorge G. 2 years ago on Google
It has a lot of crafts, however the merchants mark up the prices up to a 100%, so to get a good deal offer half and go from there

  • 3/5 Jerry M. 2 years ago on Google
It's cool to see, but expect to pay top dollar(or peso), catch a few deals, make a friend or two, get a little hot, taste tequila, and have nonstop porters peddling everything from bracelets to henna tattoos. To get good deals, shop somewhere else. It was still very fun to walk around, if not a little taxing on the wallet.
