Vallarta Breakfast Taco Tour with guide Star was awesome. We had a party of 6 and were the only ones on the tour. They keep the tours small. Star takes you to authentic taco stands run by local families. The food was absolutely delicious. Star would give us the background of the families as well as the preparation of the foods we ate. I promise you will not go away hungry. Thank you Star for a wonderful experience.

This was an amazing tour that I would highly recommend. It was recommended to me by a friend. We did the breakfast tour. The hospitality shown by Star was exceptional, ensuring we were all cared for by consistently checking in on our hunger levels and offering us more drinks and tacos. The thoughtfulness around sustainability (zero waste) and community (donation to local charity and supporting local businesses) shows Star's care and respect for all. I will certainly consider another tour next time.

Karla was wonderful! We had the best evening walking with her, learning about the importance of certain dishes, their origins, feeling welcomed with a favorite local to the most delicious tacos and sweets in Puerto Vallarta. Each stop was so delicious we had a hard time deciding which was our favorite. We felt connected to the community, and had a deep respect for the family and community tradition that is observed through the DELICIOUS food offered. My belly AND my head felt full!

So super interesting and informative about the history, people, architecture, art, food… of Puerto Vallarta while having fun on beautiful walks in some famous areas and other areas we wouldn’t have known to go. And the food! So delicious. We had fun and felt at home with our really friendly and knowledgeable guide. It’s great supporting small local businesses on vacation, and this is a great one. Would do another tour for sure.

Star was absolutely magnificent. She clearly has a positive relationship with the people at each of the restaurants that we went to, and EVERYTHING we ate was absolutely delicious! It was important for us to experience tasty food that the LOCALS like to eat, since that would clearly be the best and most authentic food. I would not consider myself a foodie, but/so I typically am a bit hesitant at trying new/unfamiliar foods. Star earned my trust quickly, and I knew I was totally safe eating everything she presented. What I loved the most, though, was how much she taught us along the way!! Not just about food, but about the culture and history of the people and how it relates directly to the food they love to make and eat. I cannot rate this experience highly enough to do it justice. There is nothing about it I would want to change or wish had been slightly better. This delivered in every possible way.

EXCELLENT experience on our tour! We had so much fun, ate until we couldn't eat anymore, and then visited the places again later in our trip. It was fun chatting with our guide ChaCha and with the other travelers. Would definitely recommend this tour for your first day or two in town!

We found Vallarta Local online by pure luck! During the tour it was clear that it was run by folks that actually know, love and personally eat at the restaurants/food carts that they took us to. We were smart and booked the tour our first night, this allowed us to return to many of the places that they took us to. The insight, care and attention to everyones needs was amazing! Loved that they are environmentally conscious and provided us with a reusable cup to use during the tour instead of multiple disposable plastic cups. We loved that it was owned and run by Mexican citizens. We loved that it is a woman owned business. When we returned to some of the taco stands we witnessed tours from other companies and it was clear that Vallarta Local provided much more insight and depth into each stall, explaining origins of different food items, discussing differences between how items are made and informing us what to look for when choosing a taco stand. We look forward to returning and taking some of the other Food Tours they offer!

Love that this is a food tour run by locals AND it's women owned AND they are sustainable and bring re-usable cups. ⭐️ I went on the Off the Beaten Path tour in Pitillal which was delicious and featured more authentic tastes of the area. Our tour guide also had DEEP cultural understanding of the area and that made the tour that much better and interesting. The only reason I give this a 4 and not a 5 is that I got an absolutely terrible case of Montezuma's Revenge after this tour and I think it was because of the ice in the agua frescas. I would recommend tourists stay away from those. I lived in PV and should have known better but figured this was a tour for tourists and that they must have taken the proper precautions. I don't think so. That all said, would ABSOLUTELY take a tour from them on my next trip to PV. Will just be more careful in that one area.

Loved this taco tour! Adriana was an informative and fun guide who took us to so many delicious spots. We sampled a lot of different tacos and I highly recommend taking this tour as soon as you get here, so you have the time to return to them. I would not have tried these taco stands if I had not taken this tour. Through Adriana, I learned a lot about the local food scene and will definitely take some of her other tours when I return! She’s the best!

This tour was one of the major highlights of our trip. I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone that wants to take a step back from the highly populated tourist attractions and actually see where the locals go. It's also a bonus that their group sizes are very small. Karla did a fantastic job keeping us interested and excited about what she was showing us. She was extremely friendly, very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed her. We will definitely book the tour again, if we go back to PVR. Supporting a locally, woman owned business, while learning the culture and experiencing where the locals go, felt really good. And, we left super stuffed! Go hungry!

This is our 3rd time to PV, and our 3rd time taking a taco tour with the amazing Star. Worth every penny to eat at places you'd never know.

What a FUN experience today. We had a tour with Carla and she was incredible. Friendly, knowledgeable, and funny too! We did the taco tour (5PM) that was really a great look into the food and history of the area. Every taco was delicious and had a good story. We learned about the origins of the food and more. I highly recommend this tour if you want to eat your way through town. Warning: come HUNGRY! Everything is delicious and even with a totally empty stomach you’ll leave very full and very content.

I couldn’t recommend this tour group highly enough. My partner and I have been on some dozen food tours in different countries throughout Europe and the America’s. Star’s tour of tacos in Puerto Vallarta is easily at the top of that list. The food choices were always unique, varied, and downright incredible. She shared fascinating details about the history and preparation process. But her care and respect goes above and beyond what I’ve ever experienced in a tour. She is contentious of the guests, the local communities connected to the vendors, and has taken steps to reduce the environmental impact of the tours. We left this tour with full stomachs, hearts, and minds!

2024: It was time to try out the Breakfast Taco tour. Once again, it was a fantastic tour led by Cha Cha and Star! Informative introductions to not only the neighbourhood but the local families and individuals who run the establishments. You can tell that Cha Cha and Star know the community well - they love PV, the food and the history. Once again, I highly recommend signing up for these tours. You will not be disappointed! Thank you, Cha Cha and Star!! Photos attached are from 2024 😀 2023: We had a fantastic Dinnertime Taco tour with Cha Cha! Not a strenuous hike - a very comfortable pacing throughout town. The locations we visited had a lot of history and connection with the Puerto Vallarta community, Vallarta LOCAL Food Tours lives up to it's name. You get a list of all places visited at the end of your tour so you can be sure to visit them again, and we greatly enjoyed the variety of tacos we ate that evening. Many good tips, lots of history, you'll feel better prepared to explore local cuisine. So stuffed and so happy at the end of the tour 😊🤤 Women owned and operated, support them as they strongly support the PV community!

Really great tour! A lot of fantastic food but with enough walking to allow for a good digestive pause. Excellent local knowledge from Star who radiated cheerfulness and a love of Mexico and it cuisine. We loved it!!

We loved the food tour with Star. It’s been a highlight of our trip. We left very full and satisfied! We also loved that she is eco friendly and brought reusable cups for the tour.

We had a fantastic time on our taco tour experience with Chacha. She was a wonderful tour guide, kind & funny, passionate about her profession & culture - provided us with knowledge & rich history of the local area. Everything we ate was delicious & we learned so much while in good company - 10/10 recommend!

What a great experience! Our hosts were attentive and thoughtful. In addition to yummy food stops, they explained how churros got their name, how Puerto Vallarta developed, the importance of local cuisine to the culture, and much more. Come hungry! You won’t be disappointed.

We enjoyed the Vallarta Local tour and unreservedly recommend it! It's a great mix of delicious local Mexican food specialties with historical context. Chacha and Star make a great team: smart, knowledgeable and warm. We enjoyed every minute!

We had a fantastic evening street taco tour! The food was great - of course it was, that’s easy. Cha Cha was a great guide. We learned so much about the area, the people and the culture. Do this tour early in your trip. Come hungry, leave stuffed and more knowledgeable about the town.

A true highlight of our trip to PV. Star was so warm and engaging and informative. We had the very best and tastiest time! We love that this business contributes to local non-profits and supports family owned businesses.

What a fantastic taco tour! Very small group so everyone received personal attention. We were given plenty of time to enjoy the tacos and try the many different salsas at each stop. No problem getting smaller portions or getting seconds. Our guide Star was amazing! So knowledgeable and very friendly with all the taco stand owners. And very attentive to our level of fullness. Absolutely the best food tour we have ever taken. We highly recommend this tour and will be back!

We had an amazing time! Chacha and Ana were amazing hosts and treated us like family. We would have never known about many of the places we visited but they were so knowledgeable and open to all of our questions about food, culture, and their own personal lives. You can tell how much they care about their community and how much they truly love people. 10/10 would recommend!

Amazing tour, excellent service, so educational and fun at the same time, amazing food and drinks. Estrella is amazing and definitely loved it all. I highly recommend both taco and tequila/mezcal tours.

This tour was THE BEST. I’ll list off many reasons: 1. It was so easy to hang out with Star. She was so welcoming and easy to talk to and set such a great tone/vibe. 2. We loved that we went spots that she eats at herself 3. We didn’t feel like we were intruding or like fish out of water in the restaurants which is how I sometimes feel on these types of tours 4. Star gave us so much fascinating information about the stories of the food and places we ate that I could have never found out by myself (even with the best Google search skills!) 5. We felt like we were welcomed into her home/neighborhood and were given all the best family-kept secrets!! This tour was above and beyond a “normal” food tour; it was an amazing experience and the only thing I’m sad about it that we didn’t have time to do Star’s other tours! 😭

We took the "Off the beaten track" food tour. It's one of the best experiences we've had in Mexico. In addition to fabulous food, we learned so much about the culture and history of the Puerto Vallarta area and this beautiful country. It happened to be a feast day so we were able to observe additional traditions. I highly recommend this tour. 5+ stars. Mary and David

I would completely recommend this tour. It is very fun fun and informative. So much delicious food. The tour was in a place I never would have known it was there if I had not taken it. The group of people we were with were a fun crowd. Can't wait to go back And take friends.

The taco tour is not only tasty but educational too! I had so much fun with this group and loved every stop we made. There was a great variety and so much delicious food and drink. It was incredible to have an opportunity to try places that I never would have discovered on my own. The guides are all genuinely lovely people who made the tour even better than expected. Make sure you are super hungry for this one!

My husband and I did the breakfast taco tour, which was a 3hr tour. It was one of the best food tour we’ve ever been on! Star was an amazing tour guide! She was super friendly and interactive with everyone! Not only did we walk away fully (literally) satisfied, but she made sure to give us tips and advice that would be helpful for the rest of our trip. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone that is new or returning to Puerto Vallarta!

Vallarta LOCAL culinary tours in Vallarta was an amazing experience! This tour company is the only Mexican and women-owned one in town and it makes a huge difference to have guides who have an emotional and personal connection to what they are sharing with you. Everything we tried was exceptional and the highlight for me was trying a pre-hispanic fermented drink called pulque. Cha Cha was our main guide on this tour and she was charismatic and funny; she shared more time with us than we expected and showed us a side of Vallarta impossible to know or understand without her. Unforgettable and am looking forward to booking another food tour with Vallarta LOCAL Food Tours on our next trip to PV!

I did this tour with my bf and another couple and we had a wonderful time! Cha cha was incredibly warm, friendly, easy to speak with and charismatic. She taught us about the local culture and history with humor and insight. It is clear she's an embedded local who knows all the vendors personally and is entrenched in the cultural scene of Puerto Vallarta. We enjoyed hearing her knowledge, but also engaging in conversations with her as we enjoyed the stellar food at each spot. It was great to hear her company is Mexican owned, and women-operated by Cha Cha and her wife. I would highly recommend doing this tour at the beginning of your trip as you get a good lay of the land in the Zona Romantica neighbourhood of Puerto. All in all a solid half day of eating great local eats, learning about the culture and history and getting to know a wonderful local.

We had an amazing time with the taco tour! Cha-Cha was an excellent host, she took us to lots of delicious taco stands and restaurants (each with their own specialty), and also introduced us to local shops and craftsmen who are still making items in the traditional manner. We came home stuffed to the brim with tacos (and if you can't finish everything, it is totally OK to get the food to go) as well as much more local knowledge of the area. Thank you for an excellent and interesting tour!

Star was absolutely wonderful! This tour was a great add to our puerto Vallarta stay! Communication — In preparing for the tour, Star was extremely communicative and ensured we had everything we needed for our tour. She was extremely responsive and answered any question we had. Throughout the tour, the light in her eyes when discussing the traditions and significance behind the food items really brought it home. She was warm and engaged and told a beautiful story of the Mexican foods! Experience — the tour was wonderful! We met up with our group and we were off! We tried desserts, entrees, soups and beverages that were all part of celebrations in Mexico. The servings were plentiful and had such a unique meaning good behind them that Star was so knowledgeable on. Overall, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is interested. This was an add to our trip that we didn’t know we needed! You are in wonderful hands with Star and you will definitely get a taste of PV that you won’t find anywhere else!

We had such an amazing time on our Food Tour with Star. She is incredibly sweet and knowledgeable. The different tacos and foods were absolutely delicious. Time and money well spent. Don't hesitate to book this tour!

I had a wonderful tour with Star this past weekend. She was cheerful & fun & I felt very comfortable exploring the town of Pitillal one delicious bite at a time. She knows the staff at all the spots and the food & drinks came out quickly & everything was fresh & delicious. In between spots she showed me around the town, stopping at a tortilla factory, a Mercado & a hardware store. We had a great conversation & after the tour she ensured that I got into my Uber back to Puerto Vallarta. I highly recommend Vallarta Local food tours if you’re looking to discover hidden gems & eat like a local!

We scheduled a family photo shoot with Star with our family (including a 3 year old and grandparents). The photo shoot was so easy and the result was really beautiful, memorable photos. Our 3 year old can be tough for photo shoots since he's only 3, but Star was able to engage him, move from spot to spot quickly, and keep things fun for him. We had her come to our hotel, which made it even easier for us. We received gorgeous, edited photos that we will have for memories and included on our Christmas card. We will definitely do this each year we come!
