We hope our review provides future visitors with reasonable expectations! Here was our experience: - location is great! Close to beach/restaurants/bus routes - check-in was easy after hours - greeted by a big barking dog who was harmless - room was average. Faced the busy street which contributed to ++ noise, bring ear plugs! Aircon worked great, lots of hot water, and a working mini fridge - “continental breakfast” very average, consisted of fruit and toast and yogurt, and juice/coffee. Not fancy but enough to start the day. Hours of operation are loose - 2 dogs living on the property! We LOVE dogs. But if you do NOT love dogs, this is not the place for you. One dog often barks during the night. There is dog hair in the common areas. We watched both dogs pee in the common/dining area. And on our last morning, the dog pooped within three feet of our breakfast table. These dogs were sweet as pie! - the pool was full of leaves throughout our stay… based on how it looked, guests were using it as a way to clean their feet when they came in. Was never in swimmable condition. - minimal interactions with staff, but they were polite and friendly! - check out was super easy - wifi was spotty but always worked in the lobby Would we stay here again? Maybe if we were only spending a couple of nights in PV, but not longer than that. Served it’s purpose as an affordable and convenient hotel close to the beach!

We had such a great time staying here! The staff was friendly and thoughtful. They were super helpful in recommending ground transportation to and from the airport which took the stress off arriving to and leaving from the property. Everything was clean and stylish with authentic details. We already miss our room and the beautiful views of the city at sunset sipping cocktails on the roof. See ya’ll next time!

We spent 4 nights at the hotel and had a great time. The rooms are clean and well stocked. House keeping does a great job daily. Check in and out was quick and easy. The hotel is located in a safe and fun area, with easy access to lots of restaurants/entertainment and very short walk to the beach. The pool/common area is a great place to relax between outings. We'd gladly stay here again.

We chose Villa Mercedes because they had really good rates and reviews. We thought there might be some budget compromises but we were so surprised by the quality of this cute boutique hotel conveniently located in the best part of old town. The hotel is small so you feel like you're staying at an exclusive beach villa. Nice staff who are very attentive to the upkeep of rooms and the lovely gardens. The hotel is right around the corner from the best beaches, fresh bakeries, a churro shop and a bunch of really good restaurants and nightlife. This hotel doesn't have any guest parking but its central location doesn't require a car for anything. We booked our next stay before we checked out.

I’ve stayed at both VillaMercedes and most recently Casa Pancha and thoroughly enjoyed both! Both are very charming and have their own pros depending on whether you want to be close to bars or more central. We felt very at home at CP as the rooms are like mini apartments. And the roof top views cannot be beat!

I booked this hotel mostly because I’ve walked by it before and the photos look great. Here’s why it’s not worth the 5 stars after my trip. I called to make a reservation after the airbnb listing said to do to for a better deal. After some back and forth I decided to just do it on the app. After I did so, got a notice that the reservation was unavailable and I had to go with their studio room. Different from what they listed available online. I arrived at 8:30 to check in with their after hours policy. I wasn’t able to get into my room because housekeeping or reception didn’t remember to unlock the door to my room to get in. I ended up having to wait an hour 45 minutes for someone to show up. The room itself was okay, it’s right above the street so you can hear absolutely everything, even window closed which is annoying. Bathroom is okay, not pictured what they offer. Pool did not look inviting as a swim option, overall just not that impressive here.

First time in PV and stayed here. The place is centrally located but the overall room had a terrible mold smell with wet damp newspaper permeating throughout the entire room. The worse offenders were the restroom shower covered with mold and the lamps in the room had gross molding as well. When pointed out to the manager, he was not at all surprised and could not move us until the last day. I do not recommend this place as it’s cons outweighs the benefits. Especially for a hotel that can’t upkeep it’s room and make it a safe and healthy place to stay. There are also notable dogs that would park throughout the night. Noise levels can sometimes be very loud due to its proximity to a bar/restaurants performing live music. If the hotel cannot upkeep the rooms, then why should we patron the venue. Additionally the nice features are location, simple breakfast, and Terrance garden. The cons are moldy room and restroom, dogs barking, cold pool, noise and unwillingness to improve the service.

We had a reservation for late February into early March. When we arrived at the hotel, there was a piece of paper on the floor indicating the water was out and was supposed to be on by 10pm that evening. We decided to wait it out, but there was no water that evening. We spent the night and tried the next morning to no avail, we then contacted the hotel manager who indicated it wasn't their problem and there would be no refunds. We decided to book another hotel and leave, and dispute the charge on the card, which they also are fighting resulting in us being out the money despite not staying at the hotel. It turns out the water was out for days as they worked to repair the issue, despite this not being the hotel's fault, there should have been a complete refund or at a minimum, notice so that we could have cancelled ahead of time. Overall, terrible experience and the hotel is barely adequate as it is, I would recommend you stay just about anywhere else to avoid any issues.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. Super convenient location, clean, smaller boutique type place, nice staff, lots of character. Not trying to be pretentious like other new condos in the area. We had a Suite with a balcony and small kitchen / seating area. The bed was comfortable. We recommend this place.

This was my first time in Puerta Vallarta and this hotel was just what I needed. The location was very central in Zona Romantica, walkable to the beaches, restaurants, shops, and amenities (little market, Oxxo, etc). The staff were very friendly and accommodating after a last-minute change to my reservation. The Palomera Penthouse was adorable and had everything I needed. The bed was comfortable (on the firm side, but not overly). A/C was god-given in the heat. The private patio was also really nice to relax on. The kitchen was well equipped, not that we used it as much as expected! Would definitely recommend and stay here again. Thanks, Villa Mercedes 🩵

This place was really wonderful and charming. The location really can Not be beat. Just a few steps from the beach and all the beach clubs, great restaurants, night life, all in the neighborhood and walking distance from the hotel. Very friendly staff and the room was clean and spacious. Nice A/C and WiFi too. The breakfast is just a light continental with fresh fruit and other light items. Nothing fancy or elaborate but it’s nice to have some fruit, toast and tea at the start of the day. Also very reasonably priced rates. I felt like I got more than I payed for. Will def stay again.

The staff is extremely friendly. They took care of any of our needs like making an appointment for covid test for my group of friends and I before leaving and getting us cabs quickly to anywhere we needed including the airport. The pool is amazing and I loved all the greenery around it. We had a room with a balcony overlooking Blondies and we had a great time there as well. There is a Oxxo's right under it so you don't have to walk far for anything simple and a pharmacy right across the street. All the restaurants around are really good and some even have tables on the beach or beachside. I had a great time and can't wait to go back.

We stayed at Villa Mercedes for a week last month. This was my second time there and I can’t wait come back. Very unique, charming place, great decor, steps from the beach. The room was spacious and clean. Amazing restaurants around the corner. It’s a wonderful place all around.

My first trip out if the US and I couldn't have picked a better location. Friendly staff, pet friendly and excellent location. Out of the door of the hotel within a few steps is a 24 hr convenience shop, a very nice bar (Blondie's) and your choice of 3 beach clubs (Blue Sapphire to the left and El Dorado & Apalapas to the right). Neighborhood has an unassuming, safe and authentic feel to it. Villa Mercedes staff was very welcoming and accommodating (Thanks again, Alan!). I highly recommend beating the midday heat in the pool. It's a perfect shady relaxing courtyard. 5/5 stars. Was perfect for us. Already planning a trip back to Puerto Vallarta and will be staying at Villa Mercedes again.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Booked in on 9 June 2022 and had a fabulous 2 weeks . Room was spacious clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. Lovely dogs who I doted on they too made me feel welcomed. Hotel is close to the beach, bars and restaurants. Practically everything you need is on youur doorstep. Only issue I had was with the WiFi it wasn't that great. Would stay there again. Lynette U.K

Location can’t be beat. Charming, non pretentious unique place with friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean, comfortable, colorful and bright. We had a Suite with its own balcony too. Wifi and A/C worked very well. Light breakfast (coffee, fruit, tea, etc) provided every morning around their cute pool courtyard. I would definitely stay again.

(Beginning of Dec 2021) Our second stay in PV and it was a nice location to stay at. Beautiful patio, nice cleaning staff, clean room, charming owner who builds another interesting place uphill, comfy bed. What's not perfect: The receptionist wasn't as polite and helpful as he could have been, the dog wasn't quite welcoming and could frighten people, the pool was nice to look at but not inviting to swim in it, the breakfast buffet was underwhelming and had ants and some towels in the room were torn. We had a fair price though due to some special offer so over all for us it was recommendable.
