Nelson's Bar at the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa not only offers a delightful experience but also showcases outstanding service, notably from the waiter named George. His professionalism, attentiveness, and warm demeanour elevated our evening to a remarkable level. George's extensive knowledge of the menu, coupled with thoughtful recommendations, ensured each dish surpassed expectations. His attention to detail and genuine care for our dining experience made us feel truly valued as guests. His friendly demeanour and willingness to go above and beyond made Nelson's Bar an even more exceptional destination. From start to finish, George's exceptional service made our visit truly memorable, setting a standard of excellence for hospitality.

Bit of a strange stay in this hotel, overall it was good but considering I was only there one night there were a few issues. Good - The room was lovely, very clean with a comfortable bed - All staff were excellent, very friendly and went out of their way to offer great service - We ate in the Palm Court restaurant and the food was fantastic, genuinely amazing food - Live music in the restaurant Saturday night was great, unusual to see these days - Location is beautiful, I imagine even nicer in the summer - The bar was nice, good atmosphere on Saturday afternoon. Not so good - The lift was broken for the entirety of our stay, we were offered help with luggage though - The breakfast set up is a bit of a shambles, the buffet room could be organised much better especially around the toast/coffee section, also constant queues of people waiting for bacon and eggs - Coffee machine was broken and the metal tank thing of coffee was empty, also no mugs for coffee even it was available - We were only allowed one key until we insisted that we needed a second. For £210 a night I wouldn't expect to have keys rationed. - 11am check out is a bit mean. We came from a hotel in Marlow that was 12pm, before that Milton Keynes which was 12pm and before that Nottingham which was also 12pm. By the time you finish breakfast you have to rush up and pack to be out on time. - Showers need a shelf or something to put shower gel/shampoo. Currently only the floor to put items. - No robes/slippers in the room which is unusual for a spa hotel - No plug socket near mirrors in the room - Although the food in the restaurant was excellent we were sat at one of the two round tables by the bar and these appear to be in a bit of a no man's land and so the service was a bit slow at times. Not a massive deal as the food and music was great so we could deal with a bit of a wait. Overall I wouldn't be rushing back but I can't say it was a bad stay either. The restaurant food was definitely the highlight, really really good food!

Celebrating a big birthday with afternoon tea in the Palm Court was a lovely experience. The staff were really friendly and professional taking photos as well as ensuring that everything was as expected. The sandwiches and cakes were lovely.

Loved this hotel. We had an Afternoon Tea with glass of fizz voucher so decided to stay a couple of nights. Upgraded the room too which was huge and luxurious. Ate Sunday Carvery in the fabulous Palm Room which was amazing and a meal in Nelsons pub Bar also delicious, and 2 all you can eat breakfasts. Staff were helpful and professional. Afternoon tea in the Palm Room was also lovely. Didn't use the spa but would next time. Recommend

We were really excited about staying here. The staff was friendly and everything seemed fairly clean. The breakfast was amazing and the environment in the atrium dinning space was LUSH! However, for how much we paid for 1 night stay, and how dated the rooms were, was really disappointing. They haven’t been updated in a while and did not live up to the photos The spa area was also a bit dated and there were a few too many children.

Reception were fantastic in helping to arrange a surprise anniversary stay here as we got married here a number of years ago. All of the hotel staff were polite and helpful from booking to when we left. The room we had was spacious, comfortable, clean and tidy. A couple of issues with Nelsons Bar which is attached to the hotel but reviewed this separately.

I’d just like to say how chuffed I am after I attended the spa. I was booked in for a nail treatment with a therapist called Cheman, and she couldn’t have done more for me in terms of how she showed utmost of care and professionalism in making my nails beautiful. I wasn’t booked in for the facial but she made room for me and it was honestly one of the best facial’s I’ve had - so relaxing and I walked out glowing on the outside but it was definitely felt on the inside too. I couldn’t have been happier with the experience, thank you again! The rooms at the hotel are sleek and modern and hotel and spa staff are equally as accommodating.

We attended a wedding here. The wedding service room was well decorated. And the service was brilliant. Outside the grounds were extremely well maintained, ideal for the occasion. Lots of photo opportunities to capture the happy couple. Later, the wedding breakfast was excellent. The waiting staff, although young, were well mannered and the service was excellent. Would recommend this venue for your special occasion.

Gardens are a bit neglected. Food was excellent but far too much. Had fajitas and one wrap would have been sufficient! Dining room decor is on the 'heavy' side - a little dark. But overall very good.

We came here for our Anniversary as it appeared on the website as a lovely romantic place to come with a top class spa. We stayed in the four poster king room. The staff were all super friendly and so helpful, this is actually quite rare these days so it really set off a great tone. The room was indeed beautiful, couldn’t have asked for much better, modern, chic and spacious - one of the best we’ve stayed in. We dined at The Palm - I’d actually called and emailed ahead to ask if they’d be able to cater for a vegan diet - With over 30 dishes on their menu, we could eat only two!! - first disappointment. The actual restaurant was beautiful though and, again, one of the best we’ve been to in terms of interior design - a stunner - just a massive shame about the completely lack of flexibility for anything but a meat eater. The next day we went to the spa - from the website this looked exclusive, modern and romantic - sadly how wrong was I! The actual treatment area and therapist’s were brilliant and this part is about the only part that was good. We went to use the rest of the facilities - pool, sauna, steam etc and were sorely disappointed. A massive need for modernisation here, changing rooms are small, old and tatty and not well ventilated. The floor was dirty and probably been in place since the 70’s and the rest was just the same. The absolute worst thing then happened - children! Little did we know that they allow children into the ‘spa’ - so the pool was full of screaming kids shouting and splashing - definitely not the exclusive spa we expected - extremely disappointing and we immediately left. What could have been great, sadly was spoiled and we most definitely won’t now be returning - I’d suggest to the owners to either tag it as a leisure pool or a spa and make a definitive distinction because we feel quite duped on this. The hotel part is absolutely superb but the rest - not so great at all. Do not come here for a romantic spa getaway - you’ll be disappointed

Went for 10th wedding anniversary night with my wife and was slightly disappointed as had high expectations. Room was nice but Aircon didn't work and was provided with a fan. Young lady on check in was very welcoming. Pool was freezing and was quite noisy as a couple of families with kids but didn't bother us to much. Had evening meal in the Nelson bar. The food was nice. Service was poor. Asked for water, I didn't get it, so I had to ask again. Asked for butter for bread roll with soup but didn't get it till after finished the soup. Asked for mayonnaise with my chips, didn't get it. Waited ages again to order dessert. Restaurant was not very busy. Thought about asking for the service charge of 7.5% they put on top of your bill to be taken off, but times are are hard abit and some staff may need that so left it on.

I went there for a birthday afternoon tea. Making the booking was easy and very good service. At the Hotel itself the was ample parking, the venue for the afternoon tea was superb and staff there were utterly polite professional and greatly added to the occasion. I highly recommend this Hotel. It was fabulous

It was the most stressful spa day I've ever had! It was my third visit to the Kasia Spa, but I won't go back again. Went in to book my treatments on a Sunday, talked through all the treatments and timings, but forgot to take my gift vouchers so when I rang and paid for it on Tuesday morning I was told the prices had gone up. So it cost me £30 more!!! I was told my treatment included £28 for food and £7 also for the restaurant, and my daughters included a further £20. I commented that if we were unable to eat all that much food, could I buy a cup of tea instead? 'Yes, that won't be a problem." On the day, that was not the case - my treatment included afternoon tea! I told the receptionists that I didn't want that and was then told that if I didn't have it, my food voucher went down to £20! So my £35 that I paid for in my £170 day just disappeared! I didn't even get a pot of tea with my lunch. The drinks were ridiculous prices (which you could not use your voucher for) so me and my daughter asked for tap water with our lunch. The waiter gave us a funny look and gestured at the jugs behind him and said, "It's over there!" Eventally, our food arrived - again, not quite as we'd pre-ordered it at 9:30am. We had to send food back to be served as described on the menu. Also, I'd asked for a Ceasar salad side without bacon & anchovies. The waiter brought out the full salad and placed it under my nose! As a vegetarian, it made me feel very nauseous, so I told the waiter I had ordered a veggie one. He brought another, and as I moved the salad from the bowl to my plate, I noticed that there were still anchovies all over my lettuce. Feeling even more nauseated, I asked the waiter to remove it again. The waiter took it away and 5 minutes later came out of the kitchen and asked me if I still wanted my side salad as the chef would have to make up a new one! He then blamed the receptionists for not giving him our food order sheet! If this was the case, my details also included my peanut allergy with anaphylaxis!!!! After being stressed over paying more for the day, losing our full food voucher allowance, being given meat and fish, we were also given a locker that didn't work, which I reported to the receptionist. They said they would look at it for us. They didn't, and we couldn't get to her towel or phone when we came back from the pool! All our treatments were lovely, but I didn't find the ladies who gave us our facials at the end of our very stressful experience, very welcoming or friendly. To top it off at the beginning of the day, we were told there was a wedding at 4pm so they would be setting up in the tranqil garden in the afternoon. Actually, they began setting up at 2pm, removed the sunbeds from the main area, and when we came down the corridor after having our food, there were two receptionists preventing us from going out to the garden! Although we had not intended to go into the garden - it is an area which is detailed on the brochure as a part of your day and an area where you can relax and destress. Lastly, the indoor relaxation room has only four beds in it but at one stage there were 3 couples trying to access them at the same time which meant that two of the couples had to share the same beds. Very, very disappointed, and have also told my friends who go there how awful our day was.

My friends got married here, fantastic service from the staff. Really nice place, lots of good areas for photos. Rooms were to a high standard, drinks are a but pricey but nothing unexpected for the type of venue. Food was absolutely fantastic, was very suprised as usually serving 50 dishes at the same time the food is never that good but can honestly say it was perfect like any other restaurant meal

Stayed for 2 nights, a surprise break from family for my 60th. Beautiful hotel very clean and staff polite and helpful, especially Megan in Palm Court Rooms and facilities outstanding. Spent the afternoon in the spa, with a special shout out to Vidna the therapist for most amazing massage. Only area which needs attention is the changing rooms in Spa are dated, with rusty shower curtain poles and in lockers, as well as areas of mouldy grouting on tiles which makes the area look neglected.

We enjoyed a wonderful two night short break last weekend. Our break encompassed bed and breakfast, a contribution towards dinner each night, an executive room and tickets to Chester Zoo. The hotel was absolutely superb in every regard. The staff, service, facilities and food were all of the highest quality and we really couldn't find fault with anything at all. We used the gym, pool, sauna / steam rooms and hot tub on both days, had a brilliant carvery meal on the Sunday night and a great meal in Nelson's on Monday night. The breakfast buffet was also superb. This entire deal cost us £440 which we think was great value, especially considering that two tickets to the zoo (also brilliant btw) cost £60 alone. We spent no extra on food (the contribution was £30 per person per night) and less than £50 on a few drinks each night. Highly recommended and will certainly return. Chester is also a lovely city with plenty to see and do and the Cheshire Oaks outlet is vast if you fancy a bit of shopping. Both are very close.

I booked a spa weekend at this hotel during a back injury to help recover. I went to the restaurant however after ordering my food I was unable to seat in the seat as my back was too painful. After asking for the food to be delivered to the room even though we had order it in the restaurant there was no hesitation to deliver the food to my room. They were very accommodating and I really appreciate that. Highly recommend this hotel. The bar staff in the restaurant were lovely when dealing with this request and didn’t ask question or make me feel embarrassed.

Fantastic Hotel, lovely setting. Attended wedding, catering very good and breakfast next morning excellent, not a great fan of buffet, however so much choice and food regularly changed, could eat continental, full English, fruit and pastries.

Disappointing from the get go. Staff seem to lack any real front of house skill set or authenticity. As a manager for over a decade, if my staff were as unhelpful, rude or dismissive... I would be dismissing them. We were told our room was an upgrade but instead ended up with a room right next to the wedding venue... All we heard on a Sunday night was screaming and music. We came for a peaceful spa break... Not appropriate. We also requested a mini fridge, Needless to say, no mini fridge was in our room. Both restaurants on site were tried and both disappointed us massively. For a Grosvenor hotel it was genuinely just naff. All the looks with no heart or substance. We spent hard earned money on my birthday weekend to only spend the evening in bed looking forward to the noise outside to end and going home. Very very poor show and a genuine disappointment. Tried to call reception to register a noise complaint but had to do this on my mobile as the phone in the room was not working / connected. No answer. Absolute joke from start to finish.

My friends and I recently stayed at the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel for a birthday celebration, and it was an absolutely lovely and relaxing experience. The hotel itself was stunning with beautiful outdoor surroundings. Attention to detail was clearly a top priority, as every aspect of the hotel was well-maintained and visually appealing. The staff at the hotel were exceptional - always attentive and friendly. They went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable and nothing was too much trouble for them The room was beautifully designed with comfy beds. We had afternoon tea and an evening meal in Palm Court restaurant and both times the food was delicious.

Great venue. Parking can get very full if there is an event on so you might find yourself driving around a bit to get a space. Also be careful of any tables that look inviting but don't have any reserved sign on them (advice to staff to put 'reserved' signs out). Treated like a 2nd class citizen due to the event taking place at the same time and was simply told 'we have bookings, you can't sit there'. A more courteous approach would have been nice and perhaps an apology. Other than that, the rooms are great and I'm sure you'll have a great time here.

Very overpriced for what it is. Won't be looking to return. The good bits: Service and staff were consistently excellent. The food in the Nelson is lovely. Enjoyed the pool. Breakfast is good. The bad bits: Drinks are overpriced, to the point where you actually spend less than you otherwise would because you can't justify buying another round (which is a weird feeling on holiday!). There's an absolutely godawful smell on the corridor leading to the rooms past the toilets that was consistently there for 2 days/nights (I've seen this mentioned in another earlier review too!). Walls are thin. The food in Palm Court was underwhelming and expensive. It's also really inconvenient for a hotel specifically marketed as dog friendly to have a non-movable shower head, as this makes it really hard to wash them.

We booked the Grovesnor Pulford approximately 20 months ago for our wedding. Planning process was fine, no issues and I dealt with the same planner throughout. But, on the morning of the wedding my planner was nowhere in site. I was greeted by a new planner named Alistair. I did begin to panic at this point as some of the points re my wife's disability etc had not be shared so I was worried about the details shared with my original planner would not be shared with Alistair. Although this did set me off with anxiety, Alistair and his team did the most fantastic job, they really couldn't do enough for us and our wedding really was perfect and everything I hoped it would be. I'm so sorry I didn't not get everyones name but I hope it is shared how beautiful our dat was and it wouldn't of been as fantastic as it was without to the wonderful team that were with us on our wedding. Hotel stay wise there where some issues which I have stated below, I think a lot of boils down to lack of communication. My partner having to walk an insane distance with stairs really wasn't okay. And the lack of assistance/understanding from front desk staff really wasn't okay. We swapped rooms with a family member but we really should not of been put in that room in the first place. Despite this issue, and the fact that our wedding really was amazing we will definitely stay again. But I will insist on a room on the ground floor closer to reception.

Pity there is no 0 star rating available. In the short words - avoid at any cost. Book yourself a Premier Inn or Travel Lodge - as a bare minimum but you will know what you are paying for. Noisy parties making impossible to sleep, complaints not dealt with. Customer service - non existent. Overpriced faff. Location & the venue itself - beautiful. Only staff ruins the impression. Complaining customer is openly ignored.

We went for afternoon tea and it was really really lovely - the Palm Court restaurant feels really special and the food was amazing. I have to say from looking at the menu I didn't think I would be bowled over but the flavours were really exceptional. Service was great and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks!

Delayed spa day which was really worth the wait. Really enjoyed ourselves and the staff were lovely. We enjoyed a full body massage (deep tissue) and facial which were fabulous. The food was very good as well, the King prawn and monkfish curry tasted great, whilst my partner enjoyed the Steak burger. Nice options and service.

This review is long overdue having stayed here for 2 nights in April 22. This was a birthday treat from my partner and wow what a treat it was! This is one of those luxury spoil someone you love places and it really doesn't disappoint in that department. Its a large hotel with several dining options and a spa set amongst some amazing, contrasting themed garden spaces. The parts that I saw were all polished and finished to a very high standard with no tired corners to see anywhere. The reception staff were professional and efficient, the restaurant staff, polite, friendly and efficient, and, the spa staff polite, professional and methodical. We stayed in room 71 and found it to be very comfortable, well equipped and relaxing. Had a meal in each restaurant, Nelsons being more relaxed and the piano bar being more formal but all food was of a high standard, well presented and very tasty. Took advantage of the pool and then a massage, my first one ever. Recovering from a minor leg op, Kayliegh took great care and gave just the right amount of pressure in all the right places. My knotted tense shoulders felt like jelly after, felt like I was floating for the rest of the day, amazing experience and one I'd like to repeat someday. A Wonderful place, loved it all...a little expensive on the average budget but a luxury treat for those special occasions... don't miss the zen garden to the rear if you stay.

We booked in for a Spa overnight stay. The Spa had fabulous facilities and all staff were super welcoming. A huge shout out to Linda for a fabulous massage and facial. The only negative is the Afternoon Tea was a shambles; it was dry, flavourful & overall not tasty. The room 61 was spacious, clean and the bed was comfy! We are at The Palm Court and food was delicious, we had the ox cheek & rib-eye steak; it was cooked to perfection! A massive thank-you to Anya for her 10/10 service. Breakfast was tasty too! We’ll be back in the future for sure!

Nice hotel, with spa, pool and saunas. Dogs are welcome even in the bar and bar restaurant. Our room didn't have a fridge (you need to request one when booking), but reception looked after our refrigerated goods for us. Great friendly service. Popular place for weddings.

The most beautiful comfortable hotel we have ever stayed in!! The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the wonderful gentleman who helped us with the Robin to save the upset it would have caused my Daughter was the icing on the cake beautiful location and the food was amazing!! Room was lovely comfortable and clean and the sensory garden was lovely!! We all did not want to leave and my youngest was upset about leaving!! Can't wait to come back!! Worth every penny to stay here!!!

We stayed here to get engaged officially, this week. The room was fantastic, so comfortable and luxurious. A special mention must go to Rhiannon and Sara in the Palm Court restaurant, who made the occasion extra special for us. This is the best hotel we have ever stayed in. Thank you for making our stay so memorable.

A stay for our friends wedding! We stayed at the Grosvenor hotel for a friends wedding, we stayed for 2 nights in a superior room, the check in to the hotel was straight forward and the staff were friendly and welcoming, the hotel is easy to find and free parking is available out the front, the hotel is well presented and maintained. The room was extremely spacious and comfortable, it was modern with all the amenities one requires and ample storage. The bed was extremely comfortable. The room overlooked the grounds & car park however, even with people outside the windows were soundproof and we couldn’t hear a thing. The grounds of the hotel were colourful and picturesque and overall we had a great stay with friendly staff and lovely rooms. We had a meal in Nelsons Bar, there was a good atmosphere and the food was well prepared and tasted delicious and offered great value for money. The only let down for us personally was the breakfast which was very limited in choice, cold and lacking flavour.

My daughter and I visited this beautiful spa and we were absolutely delighted with everything anna did my facial Lucy my feet. . The meal was perfect. We will definitely go back. One the that needs to be addressed is may be putting some chairs in the pool area there's not enough seating. Love to all.

Lovely atrium and rooms. Efficient check in and reception staff. Spa was excellent and good value for money although changing rooms a little dated. Staff were really helpful and working hard but seemed a little short staffed in Nelson's Bar. Food was delicious. Veggie strudel dish needed sauce.

Stayed for one night as a birthday present. The hotel is in the nice village of Pulford with tranquil countrywide surroundings. The hotel itself is nice with clean and comfortable rooms. It is popular with people from a far. Swimming pool and spa are great facilities. Spa is warm. Restaurant has a Lord Nelson theme to it and the Sunday Roast can be highly recommended. Staff are really polite. Looking forward to going again.

I was only there for a few hours but was impressed enough to want to write a review. When I arrive a was met by the concierge, he was super helpful, even moving tables and chairs so I could set up my equipment. It looked like a nice place so I decided to get some food which was great. The staff were friendly, it was warm and the atmosphere was great. I will make a point of stopping there next year.

Great staff. Very customer driven. Nothing a problem for the staff. Food excellent. Only reason not 5 stars for room was because I booked it a year in advance and the rooms looked better than the room allocated. Not a problem. Any issues were dealt with swiftly. Breakfast excellent. Lovely surroundings. Accessible to main motorways.

Had a two night stay here with my husband and we could not fault our stay in anyway. Staff in all area's of the hotel are so polite and friendly and made us feel welcome. Food in Nelson bar is delicious very high standards of food and also the breakfast which is self service. We stayed in a deluxe room which was spacious, clean and comfortable. Had a massage in the spa by Chelsea who was very professional and my back felt amazing afterwards. My husband had an issue with another man staying in the hotel but it was handled by one of the manager's Maurice who looked after us and made sure we was okay after the situation so thank you Maurice for taking time to make sure we was ease. Would highly recommend and will be returning in the summer.

My son got married here with many family members travelling from different countries, so we actually stayed a couple of days. What a fantastic hotel . Made to feel welcome straight away with nothing is too much attitude. Rooms are clean and nice decor throughout. Dog friendly, which is a must for our little family members. The best beauty spa I have ever used. Will be back for my daughters 21st in December for a night stay and a day of treatments.

I have attended this hotel on several occasions and have never been disappointed. The standard and quality of decor is high throughout. There are several options for dining, a spar, conference facilities, and public access to the restaurant and Nelsons bar. Parking can be a bit frantic at busy times, but there are no yellow lines on the main road on which it is located.

I stay at this hotel regularly and I absolutely love it! The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable with Aromatherapy Associates toiletries (my favourite!). The food in both restaurants is great. I particularly like the breakfast buffet and the sparkling afternoon tea. I highly recommend the spa if you have time too. My only criticism would be that the free internet is not great so I always have to pay a little extra for the faster one.

This place is stunning. Lots of stairs but there are lifts available. The pool is huge. The bar is a lovely massive classic look. Food was good. Large breakfast buffet. Rooms were nice and large and bed was comfy. Caution there are some rooms that have a spiral staircase from the lounge up to the bedroom/bathroom- not for everyone! Staff were lovely and welcoming. Highly recommend

This was for our anniversary stay. The hotel is really nice and the staff are great too. Only issue (which is the reason for 4*) is our room was right next to the palm Court restaurant, piano and the water feature, which meant there was a fair bit of noise and could hear every conversion. Also if I had left the curtains open while on the loo, everyone would see, which wouldn't be a good sight for them to see... But overall, the spa treatments were great and the food was excellent too. I would recommend staying here and will most probably book again.

Excellent Hotel, the Staff were very welcoming, Room was very nice with a beautiful bath. Palm House food was fantastic, I have extensive allergies and the chef cared specifically for me. The last meal I had equivalent was cooked by a Michelin-star chef. Thank you so much, Pulford Grosvenor, and a special thank you to the chef for the outstanding dinner.

Lovely venue for occasions ranging from wedding ,business meetings or birthday parties. Unfortunately the furniture did not help but the venue is really nice. The boardroom carpets and wooden furniture needs upgrading. As most chairs are shaking. Also, for the sake of health and safety,it will go a long way. Food was served in a brigade approach. I will say the food was nice though.

Had an afternoon tea with my wife. Whilst the facilities and location are what you’d expect it was a young lady named Rose that made our day. She was so caring and considerate. Above and beyond is all I can say. Grosvenor you should be proud to have employees like her.

😠 Ordered focaccia - was given a slightly thicker slice of toast(£5.95). If anything it was amusing enough to be worth the money. Great staff / ambiance, however sub standard food (and that’s ignoring the price point which is criminal for the quality) see pic below.
