One of the start (or for us end) points of the Wandle Trail. Stunned by how beautiful this is. It’s a long walk but plenty of places to stop and rest and definitely lots of other beautiful discoveries along the way.

It's one of my favourite places to think and relax. It's never to busy and the variety of birds makes it very interesting. The only downside is that most of the time the toilets are out of order. There's also a small play area ideal for children up to 7years old and a picnic area that you can enjoy during summer time. @resilience88

Beautiful little park for a nice bit of fresh air in the open . Good playground for the kids and nice bit of green for picnics . The park has a nice smooth path so its wheelchair friendly. Marvellous ducks πŸ¦† to feed or watch . Parking is located along the parks outer shell . Id recommend a walk around , enjoy πŸ˜‰.

I spent time relaxing here on a Saturday noon. The pond covers most of the parks, you can see waterfowl such as swans, coots, ducks (i also saw baby mallards and a whole family of swans with 7 growing cygnets). The waterfowl are quite well fed here, on my visit I didn't see anyone feeding them bread, just pellets from the pet shop which is a good thing. Only thing I didn't like is that the top left side of the pond isn't really accessible from the children's playground but nevertheless I enjoyed my visit.

A pleasant green area with a large pond in the middle where there is a large and varied population of ducks, geese and swans. It is at the beginning of the Wandle Trail - you can go out at the northern the northern side, turning left into Mill Lane and walking along the path to Beddington Park.

small but perfectly formed park with lots of aquatic wildlife to observe. there's a fenced off gated play area for the little ones and unusually free public toilets (male / female and disabled) The pond water is remarkably clear with fish, frogs and toads and dragonflies to watch. another of London's important free green spaces for the family to enjoy. Part of the Wandle Valley trail and a short signposted walk to the much larger Beddington Park and Carshalton Ponds.

The place itself is really quite beautiful. Lots of very pretty trees, a nice bridge, plenty of birds. The water was a little dirty by the bridge but that may have been due to the heatwave we had recently, the rest of it seemed clean. Unfortunately there was also a lot of poo, I'm not a poop expert but some of it may have been from all the geese?! Also, one of the bins in the play area was overflowing and there was a dirty nappy and other wrappers etc strewn about on the floor. The see-saw was broken, but the kids still managed to have a lot of fun on the other equipment. I did visit quite late in the day so perhaps it would have been clearer if we'd been in the morning, but it was quite quiet so the kids managed to play without any waiting.

Calm and a relaxing place. Lots of geese, swans, ducks and other birds. Feeding of the birds are allowed (bird seed, duck feed, grains like wheat, corn and uncooked oats only, no bread please). Good place to visit with children. There is also a small children's park nearby.

A nice green area suitable for picnics, with a children's area for them to enjoy the slide or swings if they wish. The pond itself is has ducks and swans if you would like to feed them. In hot days there are trees for shade. Don't sit too close to the bushes however, as you may see the rare rat show its face.

Well, who would have thought that just off Croydon's busy and huge Purley Way is the hidden gem that is Waddon Ponds. I have driven nearby so many times but there is no indication of its existence that I have noticed, until one of the school mum's told me. Hidden amongst industrial estates, car garages and many residences it is literally an oasis of wildlife, various types of birds, flowers and of course the pond. My 5 year old and son were hoping for a little paddle but sadly it is mainly fenced off to the water for obvious reasons. However, this did not hinder our pond dipping efforts as there is some water before the fences and, third location lucky, we found a water boatman and two water fleas in our bucket! We were chuffed to find anything! There are so many birds here it's great, Moor Hens, Coots, loads of Canadian Geese and a Swan with 9 beautiful cygnets. They all even have their own sectioned off areas so it really feels like a city nature reserve. Do note, dogs must be kept on a lead of course and no ball games are allowed. Parking isn't too bad as there are two entrances to this really quite small beauty, so the walk is never going to be too long. There is a park for the kiddies at one end which was a great finish to our relatively short visit. The only reason the ponds did not receive 5 stars is because at one end of them, as is often the case, it was really quite stagnant, as this is where the overflow is but it leaves a layer of yuck on top, not helped by the view of the steel works across the road at this end. So stick to everywhere but the steelworks end and you really will enjoy an oasis of calm, tranquility and 'non-town-ness' in hectic Croydon. Definitely recommend for a morning or afternoon trip.

Really nice park, just the smell of the water can be a bit too much sometimes

I haven't been here for over a year. Was surprised and disappointed to see it was not as nice and well kept as before. Perhaps due to the bankruptcy...πŸ˜• still seeing all of the birds more than made for it. Everyone loves to feed the geese and ducks. Another plus I think it is quiter than other parks considering there a two minute walk from Purley Way

Lots of waterbirds. The odd kingfisher. Loads of parakeets. Not particularly dog friendly. Has a small section fenced off, but it's not suitable for dogs that need a secure area, or need space from other dogs. There is also a fenced off play area with equipment. Not really suitable for ball games.

Always a lovely walk, very nice scenery with the ducks, swans and other type. I love the bamboos naturally growing like in the forest.

We stopped off here to feed the ducks. They have little fenced in wooden piers that you can stand on to feed them which is ideal when you have a 2 year old that would happily jump in given the chance! They have a playground that is functional but definitely a little on the tired side. 4 stars because when we visited there was a lot of rubbish strewn about the place which not only makes the area look very untidy but also poses a threat to the ducks and other wildlife. (A whole multipack of crisps were being enjoyed by the swans during our visit). There are signs around the pond advising on foods that are safe to feed the ducks (a great thing to see) however it doesn't seem that the area is cared for very well by the council nor some of the people that use it which is a shame.

A lovely natural space in a crowded urban area. Very accessible. The information boards are informative and well illustrated. It's a good place to stretch your legs, but also has benches to sit and read, relax or contemplate. A good community space - the people I passed were very friendly.

Very quiet area with a pond and animals, plus an entertaining playground for children, the only thing is that it still has some repairs on the pond decks

Lovely quiet place to go with the kids to feed the ducks and swans. They walk about on the grass freely, it's really sweet. There is a little park for the kids to play in too.

Lovely small patch of greenery with many aquatic birds enjoying the wandle river. Nice wooded path leading to it. Surrounded by housing an commerce but a pleasant break from busy areas.
