The first decent to the river level is easy but again this ascent is the toughest one as it has boulders as steps of different dimensions. Apart from this there are two are three steep climbs but are easy to do. I am 65 and enjoyed the bamboo climb specially the cliff face crossings. Mice view one you are up. Went up to view point and did not do the last stretch as it has steep climb. The place opens at 8.00 AM, one can hire a guide who will charge are Rs 1000. Guide is not a must but if you can help local community chaps it will be nice and they give good company and share some stories. Be alert at the view point as the rick has a scope with bamboo barriers which are not strong enough. Carry light food plenty of water or fresh lime salt and sweet liquid. The whole trek takes about 3 to 5 hrs depending on the pace.

Lots of twists and turns and slippery slopes but it will fuel the adventurer in you. And the destination will surely fill you with awe. The bamboo trek is a unique one in its own and is a must try. Be wary, only few food stalls are there at the spot of the trek. Also this trek is a big No No during monsoon.

Famously known as Bamboo Trail or Bamboo trek. A must visit place . Be well dressed in terms of good shoes and comfortable dress to walk 4+4 km up n down. The train is mix of up and down on both ways. It's fantastic , enthralling, mesmerizing and photogenic place. This is unique and one of only place in India where u walk on bamboos for such a long distance. End point is most fantastic and beautiful ...don't miss that... Once u reach the top....the feel of achievement is great. Don't forget to carry own water bottles and do start early ...may be 8 am or so...so that u r comfortably back to start point by 12. Don't miss waterfall point on return Toilets are there only at start point near parking. And no toilet enroute. The place is around one hour and 40 mins from Shillong in normal traffic. Don't carry or wear heavy winter clothing as u climb ...same r going to come off and u have to carry it seperately Enjoy ur trip

I really loved this Bamboo trek.. it's like a dream come true.. you are walking on the edges of the hills where the path is made of bamboo in the air.. at a height of 6k ft.. must visit.. Don't - overload yourself with jackets and any unwanted products do carry enough water to keep urself hydrated

The bamboo bridges are an absolute marvel. In the middle of nowhere, bamboo bridges built by the villagers take you right to the top of the mawrynkhang rock. A moderate to high trek- people who are not used to trekking might find it difficult to complete. There is a waterfall on the way, nice to take a dip there. Quite safe during summer. Per khasi belief, the rock is King Mawynkhang's head. Strangely, the rock does resemble a huge human face. Definitely a must watch. You need to reach Wahken village and take the trek from there. Better to start in the morning. You can pack your lunch bought from any local shops in Wahken and then start the trek.

Very nice trek it took approx 2.30 hrs to cover the trek. If you are slow it may take almost 1 hr more considering taking pics and every thing

Travel with water bottle. Also carry some snacks while trekking. There will be only one shop while trekking. Wear proper shoes.

This is literally the scariest track, The path is made by placing woods and bamboo. Won't describe much coz it will ruin your excitement. Just go there. You'll amazed for sure.
