Doc the owner is very humble but I think they are loosing the touch now. The place used to be nice and clean but eish one needs to ask for a toilet paper, the dstv is no longer there, they have e-channels only!

The Guest house is situated ideally. Many amenities are within close driving distance. Some rooms needed updating, some were brilliant. The bath tub in one room was adequate but not spectacular. The glass doors on the room entrance was sticky and had to be opened with slight force. The steam iron was not working on the one occasion I was there. Nevertheless, the service of the staff, especially Renado Romeo Auret, was outstanding. He deserves a 10 star rating for his efforts. Well done overall, I will return if I'm back in the area.

What a disappointment! This place has no Backup Generator or those Rechargeable Emergency Lights or Globes! Had it not been for my Laptop I'd be in total darkness now. Wait! When I went to the reception to request for an emergency light I was told ''I'll be given a CANDLE''😱😱😱 In this day and age! Wow! Oow and when I asked to be given the Manager's contact number I was told it cannot be given to me. I must speak with him/her when they are at the Guesthouse. Another Wow! Lastly, I am suppose to go through my Training Material to prepare for tomorrow's class BUT how do I read books when I am in the dark? Yet another Wow!🚮

The staff is very friendly,but when i got to the room the heater was not working,the room was ice cold and the room was not checked to make sure its possible for clients to stay in.

Staff was super helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and absolutely accommodating. I would definitely recommend Hemingways. I will definitely return and use their facilities again.

I stayed over for one night.. what a disappointment. Rooms warm with little to no fresh air ventilation. Pillows full of Mould in my room, usually the first thing I check. Luckily I did not have a blue light to check the mattress. Dirty bathroom, definitely not worth 4 star rating

Staff is absolutely lovely and helpful. For me, the TV channels need an upgrade and maybe a heater in the rooms.

On arrival I was informed the they have only 3 rooms with aircon and was upgraded to an executive suite on request, very nice room with stylish combination of old time chic and modern, room 5/5. Bathroom had what you need however no place to put toiletries, huge shower for out of the ordinary experience with a big shower head that is working, quick hot water a bonus, 4½/5 for the bathroom. Service from staff was excellent in the beginning and lack commitment during my weeks stay, e.g., requested assistance with getting TV connected late afternoon and later had to remind them again, assistance received only at 21:20. A dinner order was wrong and not as requested, therefore service 3/5. Breakfast needs huge improvement. Got the idea side dished (mushrooms, chicken Vienna, chakalaka) were made earlier and dished up at room temperature with freshly prepared warm eggs. I always requested soft egg and they were hard with every meal. The sausage serves on first morning was a bit raw. There was only one salt and pepper pot for the dining room and now serviettes. One butter dish at the bread setting for all to use. No guest was wearing mask on arrival at the dining room for the whole week. Breakfast not a huge variety, breakfast score 2/5. Dinner, two nights I could order out and two other nights cooked meal provided by guesthouse. One meal was chicken and wors, frozen vegetables and two salads, 3/5. The other meal was a stew with cooked butternut, green beans and mash potatoes. Very tasty home cooked meal to rave about 5/5. I have mixed feelings about my stay. Not sure if I want to stay there again, the room was worth it, the breakfast is a no no. WiFi only available at reception and dining room, doesn't reach the rooms. So total score is 3/5

I went for a meeting, the room was spacious and setting was good. The meals served were good.

The tv decoders show the channels loved by the guest house not the guests. No sports channels at all.

Hemingway's Guest House was reasonable value for money, but that's about where it ends. The room had a single naked bulb in it that hardly lit the room. The bathroom had a mouldy ceiling with a hole in it where the extractor fan once was installed. But the most annoying thing was the church service they hosted from 19:00 to 21:00 on the Thursday and Friday nights that I was there. (Don't know what other nights this happens.) Sounded like a southern US pastor going on and on to rapturous "Amens" the whole time. Very loud and impossible to concentrate if you've got any work to do. I'll look for an AirBnB next time...

Hemingway Guest House is a home away from home except for the DSTV that is lacking.

I had a very good time, stayed for almost a week. The reception was so good, the rooms were spacious and would get cleaned up like new everyday. The food was delicious, I loved the various offerings to choose from. However I was startled witnessing how my colleague was badly spoken to about how much food to take and that created an unnecessary argument between the guy in a chiskop and my colleague, that really didn't sit well with all of us who saw that. Also other guys from the power utility decided to go book elsewhere after staying for days, when they raised concerns about the parking and the slender, lightskinned lady gave instructions to the security guard speaking harshly that that was their place and they can't be told what to do, while those guests and us could hear. Employees of this place must treat every guest right as we're all bringing money expecting good service and not to be corrected and supervised unnecessarily. These are small issues that could tarnish the name of the guesthouse because word of mouth is very powerful. Overall the place was very good, the experience was amazing as was recommended to me by a friend, I'd definitely go back there👏👌💥

Extremely dissatisfied by the fact that I had to pay an extra R100 for the breakfast the morning I was leaving and the very unfriendly kitchen staff yet my microwave was broken, after I reported that the microwave was broken in my room, absolutely nothing was done about it, they said they would bring another 1 and I never received it

The kettle very dirty . Horable bed and breakfast and rooms cold . Channels not playing on TV . Headboard old and dirty . Will never stay apha again
