The DOG PARK area is a sandy beach where dogs & the owners can get in the water. The beach is beautiful and we'll cared for. There are NO facilities for drinking water or restrooms & there is no place to get the sand off your dog. (Note there may be restrooms in the human side if the park (dogs not allowed), but I haven't verified that. If you're goal is just have fun with your dog, you'll love this park. Note to get to the dog beach, you walk alongside the fenced area & make a short trek through a pretty, wooded area to get to the dog beach. Definitely plan to do this again.

I am rating the dog beach portion of Matapeake - it’s 5 stars and I would give it 10 if possible! We live in DC, but our dog loves to swim. There’s not anywhere to swim by our place or in VA, but this beach is just a 45 minute drive from DC - but be aware you HAVE to leave early (before 10 am) to beat Bay Bridge traffic. That said - our dog has absolutely loved this beach all summer, and we’re there pretty much every Sunday. It’s become our Sunday morning routine. The things I love about this beach: • The dog portion has very large trees leaning over it, so anytime before noon you basically get free shade without having to bring an umbrella • Every time I have been here, there’s been anywhere from like 2-3 up to maybe 20 or so dogs; the dogs have always been well behaved and very attentive owners to nip any confrontations in the bud • The water is super shallow up to several hundred feet out, so I don’t really worry much about my dog getting caught in a current or boats/jet skis etc creating big waves • I have been to many many dog beaches in my day (grew up on the gulf coast of Florida). Most dog beaches are kinda gross by human standards (not nice water, out of the way location, not good sand). But this beach is equally as awesome for humans as for my dog! I have no issues going out and swimming along with him while he splashes and does his thing. • The view is really nice, wide open across the bay and including a perfect panorama of the Bay Bridge. It’s a great backdrop for a day of swimming. • The walk to to beach is relatively short (maybe 5 mins walking at a normal pace), and through a really nice forested trail. It makes for a nice calm walk down to the sand and back. The only possible downside is there is no washing station to wash your dog off when done. But we end up giving our dog a bath when he gets home anyway, so not a big deal to us. Overall I would say this is my favorite dog beach within driving distance of DC - and we have tried about 5 or 6 others. A great spot for humans to sit on the beach with their toes in the sand, along with their canine companions. Enzo (my dog) would give it 5 paws if he could!!

Matapeake Park is a really Queen Anne County's best-kept secret. It is has a nice, secluded beach with a great view of the Chesapeake Bay. There are bathrooms, an outdoor shower, and an amphitheatre. If that isn't enough, the beach and parking are all free! It's just right off of Route 50 and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

This was a really nice place to visit. There's a beautiful, clean beach with gorgeous views. No food service but there are clean bathrooms.

I love the beach. I launch sup and kayak there. Free parking/entry.

Brought our pup to the dog beach and had a great time. She's only 13 lbs so the waves and how shallow it is was perfect for her. Like the shaded areas to sit and except for one mound on the trail I didn't see any other dog messes left behind.

Adorable park in Stevensville MD. Gorgeous views, excellent stop for digging in the sand, not a lot of shade. This isn’t my favorite beach here, but I enjoy the change of scenery when I come. Plenty of parking!

It’s small, but nice and clean. Good for spending some quality time with the family. The dog beach is a plus, in my opinion.

Dogs welcome on designated dog beach. Take the path to the right of "Clubhouse" entry, less than 1/4 mile nice little walk. Very little shade, park rules no umbrellas however clubhouse closed at 330pm when stopped to ask about renting umbrellas. Our lab took offense to the first wave splashing his face.

The water was full of sea weeds and jellyfish. It is kid friendly in the sense it wasn't deep. But the jellyfish was what was keeping us from enjoying fully. Moreover, the park rangers wouldn't let us park closer even when there were empty spots. That made unloading with several young kids difficult. Super crowded even at 2 pm may be because it was the weekend . 2 stars because it was free.

Metapeak Park emerges as a splendid haven for spring and summer escapades, offering a picturesque beach setting perfect for leisurely hangouts and delightful picnics. The expansive shoreline beckons with its serene charm, providing an ideal backdrop for relaxation. However, it's worth noting that while the water is tempting for a swim, cleanliness might pose a concern. Despite this, the park's overall ambiance and recreational opportunities make it a worthwhile destination for seasonal enjoyment.

A large fishing pier with benches on the Chesapeake Bay a few miles away from The Maryland Bay Bridge on the Easter shore. Shallow water 1-2 feet at low tides. We came here 5 times and there were no fish to be caught. During our visits, we were able to spot a cruise ship passed by in the early morning heading to Baltimore Harbor. Lots of container ship cruise by every day. The bay views and bridge are very beautiful at sun set. Boat launch area is very clean. Easy access. Picnic areas have cooking grills / benches, and shades. Expensive Paid parking area by hourly. I would not recommend to fish in this area. Dirty / smell toilet house.

Nice quiet beach on the island. Me and my friend were in love with the whole really small beach feel. Only 200 people capacity but honesty would most likely be most comfortable around 50 people in our opinion.

Great family Beach. Definitely on the smaller side. Either go weekdays or early morning on weekends. Gets packed fast! Very calm beach, virtually no waves and you can travel a far way out before it ever gets deep.

Dog beach with warm, shallow water. The fishing pier is a 15 min walk from the beach so if you plan on doing both, you'll have to split

First time visit to the dog beach. Other than some seaweed and a few jellyfish washing up periodically, it was great. Small and practical. Met a nice ranger Harry who offered our dog a treat and asked if we enjoyed our visit. We would visit again.

One of the worst beaches I have ever been to. There were so many pieces of driftwood along the coast & rocks that it was hard to walk & it made it look unappealing.

This is such a hidden gem! We were looking for a place that was dog friendly. This was the perfect spot!

Lovely little family-friendly beach that you'd drive right past if you didn't know it was there. It's tucked away behind a business park. There's room for 100 or so people, and if you want to bring your dog there is a separate beach just for you. The beach is kept very clean and offers a nice view of the Bay Bridge. The water was the perfect temperature (in August) and light on seaweed with a soft floor. It's on the bay, so don't expect much by way of waves and at its deepest the water goes up to an adult's waist. A delightful place to spend an afternoon.

Fine little park with a nice sandy beach area for dogs. The sand has lots of stones and crab shells to nip your toes so you have to pay attention. Was not crowded on an early Spring day with the temp reaching 80.

It was nice. But the amount of things on the ground. Natural and plastic had me worried. I won't visit again if I don't purchase beach shoes beforehand. It also smells a bit weird.

The water level is about 3 1/2 feet deep for a few hundred yards out. Sand feels very smooth and silty out there. Parks employees usually have a table by the parking lot where they sell light refreshments. I think it's a great place for younger kids and weak swimmers due to the calm water and low level. Parking lot can fill up on sunny days between 11am-130pm.
