It's a symbol in Zurich. You can go up to the tower at 5 swiss francs for adults and 2 francs for students. You will see the panoramic view of the Zurich and it's better to visit in the morning or in the evening. You will see other 2 churches across the river.

An evening walk of Zurich Old Town (Altstadt) covering most of the historic buildings, religious landmarks(Grossmünster, Church of St. Peter, Fraumünster Church), beautiful streets, variety of stores , restaurants, lake, boasts , bridges, public transport (trams) and Zürich Opera House. It’s a highly recommended destination by the travellers to see and feel the Zurich’s historical, cultural, social venues. Zurich Old Town (Altstadt) video is on YouTube "London Aaga Bites" (Pls search for the video "2Jt83cC9kk8" )

This church is on the east bank of Limmat river and its twin towers dominate the skyline of Zurich. Here is famous especially with the statue of Charlemagne inside. In fact it is the original and a replica is located to the original’s place on one of the towers looking down the river. You will notice it when you take a walk around the church. Take a tour with a guide to understand more about this impressive building

It's a beautiful church in a beautiful district. You don't need a ticket to visit the church or the crypt. But you will need a 5CHF ticket to go up the tower. Also, you must arrive before 5, and you'll need at least 15 minutes to go up and down before they close the door. Remember that there are many stairs and at parts the staircase gets very narrow, but you will have a beautiful view of the city at the top. Although you are not allowed to go out on the balconies. So if you have a heart problem or are claustrophobic, you might want to hold on on the tower, There are many other places in the city which you can get a view from top. Also, the crypt is closed on rainy days.

Grossmünster is a stunning and historic landmark located in the heart of Zurich, Switzerland. It is a significant symbol of Swiss Reformation and is renowned for its unique architectural design, which features twin towers that dominate the city skyline. The church's rich history and spiritual significance make it a popular tourist destination for those visiting Zurich. Visitors to Grossmünster are treated to a breathtaking interior filled with beautiful stained-glass windows and impressive artwork. The church's crypt also houses a fascinating exhibition that tells the story of the church's history and its role in shaping Swiss culture. The church offers regular worship services as well as concerts, making it a popular venue for classical music performances. The acoustics are said to be superb, making it a favorite among musicians and music lovers alike. Overall, Grossmünster is a must-visit destination for those interested in history, culture, and architecture. Lovely area to visit, especially around sunset. The history is more interesting and rich. The tower gives a wonderful view of the city if you are up to the climb. You should climb up and take a panoramic view of Zurich, particularly in the morning or in the evening. We can listen a nice classic music in the street in front of the Grossmünster. The architect is impressive. The stained glass is wonderful.

Climb the tower and get a nice air breeze and view of the city. I had Zürich card so admission was included. Don’t be afraid of climbing the stairs as they open up shortly after.

This is the church with twin towers that is highly recommended by locals and is iconic of Zurich. Too bad that Swiss Travel Pass isn’t eligible for the church’s admission. The gentleman who sells the ticket was very friendly and polite. The church has a beautiful organ and the stained glasses are beautiful.

Great big church in the heart of city Zurich... One of the top ten things to visit in city... It's close to the main station, 10min walk... The entrance is free, but if you want to go up to the tower you must pay... There is always so much people around who take pictures and videos... All recommendations for visit if you are in Zurich...

Well worth paying CHF5 and climbing the tower for the amazing views. Stairs and steps are very steep.

It s a great landmark Zurich Switzerland 🇨🇭 but to be honest it’s not the most beautiful church I have seen it’s to clean to renovated to me. A little bit getting the weather in could charm it up a bit. I find it a cold looking church. Nonetheless with nice weather it is still nice to strolll around but can recommend going in rather go to the lake and check that out ⭐️🇨🇭

Beautiful view of Lake Zurich with the Alps in the background. It may be inaccessible for some as you have to climb a few hundred steps to reach the tower and the first half is a fairly narrow spiral staircase. Absolutely worth it of course!!

A great church in the middle of the city and at the side of the river. Besides its importance, it also has great views at its garden. You must climb a few stairs to reach the church. Also there is a tower which is suitable to climb to the top. It definitely offers a breathtaking panoramic view of city of zurich from a very high point, possibly the highest man-made point in the city. But I must also say climbing to the tower might be challenging since staircase is narrow and tower is high

Wonderful and historical church at the heart of Zurich with an imposing view. It's free to explore some parts of the interior but please be quiet and respectful. Outside the church there are some great photo ops overlooking Fraumunster and Zurich across the river.

A 12th century Romanesque-styled cathedral located in the heart of the city and is one of the most iconic and important landmarks in Zurich. Known for its twin towers design, it is a must-visit if you are in Zurich. What the Eiffel Tower is to Paris, Grossmünster is to Zurich!

The climb to the top of one of the towers is well worth it, not only for the great views of Zurich but also to see the inside structure of the tower itself. Also well worth a visit for the understated but beautiful stained glass windows by Sigmar Polke.

When in Zürich pay a visit here. This is a nice historic building and an functional church. It will take 5-30 minutes to tour the insides (free) and 15-30 minutes to go to the top (a ticket is required). And don't forget about the crypt, it hides some secrets!

The tower was closed, but we were still able to enter the church and look around and even without be able to climb the tower, it was worth visiting. Even our tween and teens enjoyed it! Since the tower was closed, it was free to enter. The carved entry door, agate windows and ornate organ were highlights.

This is a very beautiful attraction to see. For a few Swiss francs, we bought the ticket to go up into the tower. We went up a very narrow spiraling staircase, which actually got me a little bit claustrophobic, but I made it to the top. Sadly near the top, there was a bunch of graffiti, which is terrible. But that is humans for you. Up at the top, it is actually gated so you cannot go onto the balcony, but it is still very beautiful to see the view all around 360 degrees. Below the church, you can go into the crypt. Where they have a statue. And you can still see in the crypt some of the original carvings on the wall, although there’s no color to them. Some of the windows in the church are made of Alice’s geodes/ stone which makes them very beautiful. Overall a must see. For those who wish, they can actually sit in the church. Not sure if they have services, it was still very peaceful place. The hours of operation for a short, so try to get there between five or 6 PM. All around the church, there are beautiful little shops that you can visit, and it is fairly centrally located to everything

Imposing church by the river Limmat. It’s located in the old town area of Zürich. And the inside is not very elaborate or decorated now as you would normally find with a Catholic Church but still it is worth going to the church and having a look inside as well as the imposing structure on the outside.

//GOOD: -- being one of the main (if not THE) tourist attractions in town, a visit to this church gives the guest the opportunity to step back about 800 years in time -- this building is a fantastic piece of architecture and great to explore -- Karlsturm (south tower): as of this writing, for a cost of 5 CHF, guests to climb the stairs in this tower; it provides an opportunity to explore a lesser seen part of the church and get a great view of the old town from above //CAUTIONS: -- Karlsturm (south tower): parts of the stairway are very narrow and could prove to be difficult for those not on the slim side -- be sure to double check all hours on the website as different parts of the church may be accessible at different times

The church is located in the heart of the city and is one of the most iconic and important landmarks in Zurich. The church is known for its twin towers and its Romanesque architecture. The church also has a rich history, dating back to the 12th century. The church is open to the public, and there is a small entrance fee to visit the church, but it's definitely worth it. The staff is friendly and helpful. The view from the top of the towers is also beautiful, and it offers a great vantage point to see the city.

A landmark if you wish to learn about the Protestant Reformation in Switzerland and Swiss Gothic architecture. However, the public is not allowed to take pictures or record videos of the inside. If you want a picture, you need to pay CHF 2.00 for a postcard sold at the location.

One of the favourite tourist sites to visit in Zurich, with priceless statues and stonework to admire (original as well as reproductions) tastefully positioned all around the amazing architecture. The interior is another must-see.

  • 5/5 Vienna 1 year ago on Google
You need to climb high stone steps and wooden ladders, and you have to climb more than ten floors visually. When you have a rest in the middle, there is an attic overlooking the whole old town of Zurich, and the experience is very good. The church itself has no special features, mainly to climb the tower to see the scenery.

  • 5/5 J G. 1 year ago on Google
The icon of Zürich!!! The church is very visible on the city skyline. The staff at the information was very helpful. They only accept cash for the entry to the tower and the audiobook. The tower is steep, I mean real steep and makes up for the cardio for the entire week!!

We were told that this would be a good sightseeing. It definitely was. Very old building which is still in good condition. The glass windows were mesmirizing. It's free to get in and it is easy to walk through. The detail is not as elaborate as one normally sees in as old churches and in southern Europe but still very majestic.

Europe's one of the most beautiful roadside with castle and canal at the background. The Grossmünster is a Romanesque-style Protestant church in Zürich, Switzerland. It is one of the four major churches in the city. Its congregation forms part of the Evangelical Reformed Church of the Canton of Zürich. The core of the present building near the banks of the Limmat was constructed on the site of a Carolingian church, which was, according to legend, originally commissioned by Charlemagne. Construction of the present structure commenced around 1100 and it was inaugurated around 1220.

(Translated by Google) If you look at the Limmat River from the Mulestech Bridge, you can see various towers. The church of the Romanesque architecture of the twin towers (from the end of the 10th century, Pisa Cathedral in Italy, etc.) can be seen on the left side of the Münster Bridge. This is Grossmünster Cathedral. When you go up to the tower, you can see the town of Zurich. To the right of the Minster Bridge, you can see the spire of Fraumünster.
