I was expecting a lot, to be honest, and those expectations were no met. We started at the small Chapel and walked along the lines all the way to the main road. Only the first part of our walk is nice and interesting. The rest not. It would be great if they would clean and open the entrances to the tunel so you can walk through. Explanation how defence system was operating would be useful.

It's a nice trekking that takes you to a high point where you have stunning views from parts of the island. The path is perfect and only the first descent is a little bit rough, but doable even in normal shoes. On the top you can see some batteries from the war and go back by taking the loop via the main road farther from where you arrived.

What a lovely walk in spring ! I have been there last year in March and always want to come back to explore more and more. There’s no sign to tell you where to go so we just went randomly up and down.Proper shoes for hiking is strongly recommended.

Beautiful place to see a part of the physical barrier (stone wall) that was built for defense to separate Malta in two parts. You can hike the whole Victoria Lines trail that goes from Fort Madliena to Kuncizzjoni Chapel (around 20 km). During the hike you will see parts of the stone wall but a lot of the wall is already destroyed. So keep in mind that you will not walk along the wall all the time because the biggest parts are gone. Sometimes it's also hard to find the trail. Trail: Evangelista bus stop - Fort Madliena - San Giovanni Battery - Top of the world (Gharghur) - Triq John Adye road - Cart Ruts Birguma - Victoria Lines (direction WW2 Pillbox) - Millbrae Grove - Mosta Scout Campsite - Falka Gap (cross over see trail on the left) - Dwejra Lines - Victoria Lines - Kuncizzjoni Chapel. Tip: wear good shoes, protective clothes (for the prickly plants), bring sun protection, water and snacks.

Badly maintained and no information around the site. A pity as it can be potentially a tourist attraction that has lots of potential. You just the defence wall from the small church.

Nice view over the valley. There is no information about the wall and everything is very rundown in my opinion. I read people here who describe this as a good place to walk with the family. Everything is in a very bad state and very difficult to access. I don't think it should be families with small children or wheelchairs. Of course, it is a unique place to hike for the elderly.

Overall not impressed. I Hhked from Dwejra Lines to Victoria Lines. Only the section near Victoria Lines is OK. I disagree with the "most beautiful" comments. Most of the trail is just wild and abandoned without much to see. If you follow my reviews for other attractions in Malta, you’ll see why. If you want to visit, suggest to park the car at Victoria Lines and hike the short section through the valley.

One of the most beautiful views I've ever seen from the top of a mountain. I went at sunset. It is recommended to go earlier if you want to walk a few kilometers along the wall.

Lovely place. High up with nice views, pieces of important Maltese history. Wonderful fault in the land. So many trails to walk. The only complaint I have if that most areas are far too accesible by car, turning walking trails into roads. They also mean that cars are constantly passing by you when you walk or have a picnic, making it more dirty, noisy and dangerous. If cars are blocked from the are it would be fantastic.

Impressive 19th century structure crossing the Maltese countryside. Nice walk and this is also close to the Cart Ruts.

Beautiful track with stunning views and a lot of greenery. The track itself at the start is a bit tricky so correct footwear is a must. I am giving it 4 stars because all the signs are destroyed and this track could be made more accessible and less dangerous.

Historic but nothing much to do. The walk is amazing. But you need to know the history of Victoria lines before you visit the site. So that you can imagine sights in that prospective.

Beautiful panoramic view. You can have a nice walk, but don't go there during the hunting season. The hunters will shoot near you to scare you away.

Nice, tree-lined walk in the shade, or atop the Victoria Lines, then finally regaled with a view of the chapel across the valley.

It's a piece of rocks in the middle of the Maltese desert. More interesting for its history than for the beauty or views itself.

The Victoria Lines, also known as the Great Wall of Malta, stretches across the island, connecting the western cliffs to the eastern coast. As I embarked on the trail, I was immediately struck by the breathtaking panoramic views that unfolded before me. From rugged cliffs and rolling hills to picturesque valleys and charming villages, the trail showcased the island's diverse topography in all its splendor.

Great walking area. It's a bit far away from civilisation which makes it perfect if you want to cut off from the daily routine for a bit. Lots and lots of nature and great views. The terrain isn't flat as expected so hiking or rough shoes are recommended

  • 3/5 Marcel M. 2 years ago on Google
Lines are best to be approached by walking over the road from the chapel. If you take the small path through the bushes, you will have to climb back to the road to get on the lines. Nice rural area for a walk.

I highly recommend this place to anyone who likes relaxing and cultural walks because the views are great and the remains are historical. Don’t forget to go down the valley under the bridge to see the man made caves. Some say they were tombs and some say they were just caves were people used to live in. I’ll leave that to you to decide. ;-)

It's an amazing trail suitable for families with children of all ages. There are many routes one can take to explore the cave systems or spend the day in one of the many vehicle accessible areas under beautiful pine trees. Just remember, no fires.

A must do for any trekkers out there. An iconic walk along the major defensive line protecting the major town and cities of Malta. 17km allowing 5 1/2 hrs crossing the full width of the island coast to coast. Its a two car trip with one being left at the Pembrokeshire car park adjacent to the St Julien football ground. The walk starts at on the east at Ras ir-Raheb and there are two handy car parks near by. The lines start with quite a climb and from here it is pretty up and down. At times the route is difficult to follow so it is as well to take a guide with you. With just a map you can miss a lot of the paths. The walk proved very interesting particularly the stretch from Mosta through to Pembroke which has some stunning cliff edged paths well constructed in years past. Overall a very enjoyable walk with quite stunning scenery.

A great opportunity to walk in Malta while discovering some historic places. The Victoria Lines were built by the British before WWI as a line of defence. But apart from that, Phoenicians had already built a burial ground for their dead. You will find many punic tombs around the area of the Victoria Lines.

Beautiful views , cleaned up some rubbish on the ground. The fortifications definitely need refurbishment however and the bridge should be repaved with tiles (not concrete though)
