The quality of the food and the variation was amazing BUT I’m giving 3 stars only because of the customer service. Regarding the customer service, when we ordered the waitress put all the items you see in the picture in the one tray and she looked at me to take the tray. I felt weird because the tray looked really heavy but I carried it anyway. I worked as a waitress and I would have never let a customer carry so much stuff. She could have at least split the items over two trays, and helped. Other than that, the quality and the ambiance are amazing!

(Translated by Google) The El Fant is ideal for a short break while sightseeing. The café wine bar is located directly at the City Museum. I drank a delicious cappucino ("Good Life Coffee") and ate excellent homemade cakes. A very friendly staff. Highly recommended! The Café-wine bar El Fant, situated next door to the Helsinki City Museum, is a cozy spot offering home-baked treats, quality wines and coffee from the small scale coffee roastery Good Life Coffee! And the staff at El Fant Coffee & Wine are amazing. (Original) Das El Fant ist ideal für eine kleine Pause bei der Stadtbesichtigung. Die Café-Weinbar befindet sich unmittelbar am City Museum. Specialty coffee afficionado entered the chat...The only good thing about El Fant is the fact it is located in the city centre, within the two mins from the Christmas market. Nice place just to have a bite and drink something warm on these cold winter days. But the coffee experience has been the worst one so far. The cappuccino was absolutely tasteless, no flavours in the single espresso base. As for my friend's filter coffee, the same story. Quite strange, given the fact, I brewed filter coffee using the beans from Good Life Roasters some time ago, and it was not mind-blowing, but, nevertheless, pretty much okay. Unfortunately, cannot recommend this place for true coffee lovers, otherwise, you might get disappointed.

Great staff- matcha latte and coffee- which is good but again there are many great voffee places in this town. I used to like this place so much but- now the cakes quality and taste is not the same. Polenta cake tastes awful now/ wayyyy too sweet - why- it already has a sugar on top! , it has almost no nuts, and way too many raisins and it feels wet sticky inside with some terrible syrup / yet the polenta itself seems completely uncooked and raw crunchy. Weird. Jut tastes really sweet and unhealthy now. That was the highlight of all cakes and now is just terrible. The only tasty GF option is as bad as the other gf option. Time to change the cafeteria? :((((

Good seating and decor but the coffee tasted like Folgers crystals and was delivered by a waitress who poured it so aggressively it splashed over the cup and onto the table. These things happen but usually the waitress might say “oops” or “sorry” or bring a towel or even clean up the fluid. In this case she silently walked away.

Pretty poor service, rude, slow and the place is also not super clean. What is the point to state the the place opens at 10:00 am if that really mean that the employees are just coming at 10:00 am starting not with their guests but doing their own routines and cleaning up the mess from yesterday? Once ordering hand brew I have received a come to that I have to wait, and I was really the first one there. And yes I have been waiting for the stuff to fix their place first, but not to proceed with my order.

Had lunch in this cozy cafe. Just 9.5 Euro, I got a bowl, miso soup and coffee. This vegan poke bowl was awesome. With nearly 10 ingredients, each of them were tasty and the flavour of them went together so well. On top, the teriyaki sauce and mayo gave the bowl a warm, salty , sweet and sour flavour. The pickled tomatoes were especially good, soft, juicy, with a touch of salty taste.

It was one of my favorite coffee places in Helsinki. Visited some days ago and was super disappointed. The main door is broken (not a big deal). One of the tables was covered by paper bags for delivery. Barista didn't ask about milk for cappuccino. After all cappuccino wasn't tasty. We didn't get spoons. My cup had a coffee stain from preparation. Rather expensive. Heard that there was no filter coffee (on Sunday!). The table was covered with some crumbs. Also, heard from a friend that toilet wasn't working. We were there just a little bit earlier than closing, but blinking lights every few minutes gave pressure to leave. Super sad to have such experience and got the feeling that I don't want to come again. Goodbye, El Fant!

Sometimes when in downtown I plan my daily commute so as to only have an excuse to visit El Fant. El Fant is nothing exceptional, it's what you except from the new high quality cafes in Helsinki. Coffee is supplied by Good Life Coffee, so there it's so easy, they have my unwavering support. Location is perfect, between the busy Market Square and Senate Square. It feels good to break away from the flow into the side stream and quietness of El Fant. From the owners of Kahvila Sävy.

I love the coffee here (I take cappuccino with oat) and their cakes are absolutely delicious and unique if you like this type of creamy cakes. Their pastry and cake variety changes on a daily basis so every time I come here I find something new. Service is exceptional, the staff is super friendly and welcoming. I also tried the brunch which didn’t have much variety but was good.

One of four cafes in Helsinki that offers a cake buffet. So how was it? My friend summed it up quite well. They looked better on my camera than how they actually tasted. I was looking forward to the earl grey tea cake. Though there was only a slight hint of tea and it was a tad dry. I wish they could tone up the tea flavor. In general, the cakes weren’t that sweet, which is a plus. They just needed more flavor. The puffs were amazing: crunchy and creamy. There were also 2 options for gluten-free cake, which another friend of mine ordered, and seem like she was happy with it. 7/10: might go here again for them puffs

We stopped off at El Fant during a short visit to Helsinki - nice coffee & drinks, cakes & cookie's. Good relaxing vibes, calm interior design and friendly staff. A stones throw from the harbour and cathedral, and a short walk to the central shopping district - would recommend :)

I remembered this as small specialty coffee place. Came back to Helsinki after years and this doesn't seem to be about coffee anymore - no batch brew, had to inquire about type of coffee used (no selection!) for pourover... Just uff. There seems to be much more food now, even full plates. Giving 3 as it might be okay, just disapponting for me.

Really nice cake buffet. Price 11.90 special price normally 13.90. Includes coffee and cake buffet. Cakes are tasty. Service was a bit slow because place is small and it's crowded. I would like the option of a speciality coffee such as espresso or machhiato

  • 2/5 Pauliina S. 1 year ago on Google
This tiny piece of apple pie, the smallest I have ever seen, cost €2.90. I joked at the counter that it must be really delicious, but sadly, it tasted like a mix of sugar and butter, and I did not finish more than a bite, as per the photo. My bill came to €6.90 for this meagre piece of cake and a cappuccino. The toilet had not been cleaned for a while and had poo around the edges, and there was no toilet paper in the holder. I asked for a refund but was refused because I had taken a bite from it.

Todella kevyitä kakkuja ja todella herkullisia!! <3 suosittelen kakkubuffettia kaikille!!!

I regret not knowing this place before. I went to visit Elfant coffee and winebar on a rainy day in Helsinki (i wanted to know this place as a strong recommendation from a friend). From the moment I walked through the door, I fell in love with the cozy atmosphere immediately. Not forget to mention, the staff were really friendly and the cashier greeted me with a warm smile that made me feel at home. All I ordered was a cup of flat-white, but it was a super delicious and authentic taste. Also, the background music was relaxing and calm not like most places in Helsinki. It’s worth a visit and I will come back real soon!

A lovely, calm atmosphere and the location is just lovely! Their oat latte was really nice but I wished there was more vegan options. When I visited there was no savory vegan options but they did have a vegan cake and a lunch option!

(Translated by Google) Usually a good wine bar, but as a cafe the bottom quotation. The chocolate cake is completely dry, the tea water is very lukewarm and the cocoa tastes like frothed milk, the last one I was expecting. There was only one person behind the terrible Ryde and behind the counter.

The coffee wasn't as good as I would've expected from this kind of a place. Hot chocolate didn't really taste like chocolate at all. The atmosphere and prices were just like in any other cafe, so nothing special.
