Sarai Doraha was built as Mughal caravan Sarais for supporting Mughal caravans, by the Mughal emperor Jahangir (1605-27CE). Once an example of fine Mughal architecture this historical sarai is in dilapidated condition but currently it is now being renovating.

Pure nostalgia. It feels like - Time stops moving at this place. Its a historic place and not a picnic spot, so plan your trip accordingly. At many places in the Sarai visitors have damaged the Art work and left some filthy comments. I would like to request everyone to avoid such tempering of our monuments. Two sides of the boundary wall has collapsed and it would be great if the concerned department put some time and effort to restore it.

A MOGUL FORT- OFF THE GT ROAD. HIDDEN GEM IN LUDHIANA DISTRICT, PUNJAB, INDIA. There is free entry, you can sign the visitors’ book at the desk manned by a kind smiling Sikh guard who it’s seems is well informed about the history of the fort and is himself a retired Indian Soldier. The fort was built by the Mogul emperor Suri, around 1540, it has been partially re-stored. It has great walls, you are allowed to climb the towers and can imagine how it felt to be a mogul soldier looking down on who you ruled. There is also a mosque in the fort, you have to take your shoes off to enter. It is used by some locals as we saw pray mats, it’s open to all to see inside. We found the fort’s well, the water table had dropped, so it was dry. There were some mogul mosaics on the walls, mostly yellow and blue in colour. Overall a great fort to see and well worth the visit.

It's a little funny that this fort is listed as RDB (Rang de Basanti) fort on Google. At the entry we were told this wasn't the one. Located within a village, the red sandstone did serve as a nice backdrop.

A place of sculpture and art for history lovers, and for the persons who loves old buildings. there is a nice big gurudwara also at near the fort. it is better if you ask the people of village for directions for fort. because its at aside of G.T Road. situated at Doraha. after ludhiana if coming from amritsar. recently the gates are closed due to govt. guidelines ,but now it is opened. in child hood me with my friends visited this place many times.

Good place to visit. No tickets on entry and dslr cameras are not allowed. Fort is constructed by Mughals and now managed by state government.

The Dohara fort is a famous fort where several scenes of the popular film, Rang De Basanti, were shot. Because the film was a raging success, the fort got another name, the RDB fort. This picturesque fort is about 2 hours away from Chandigarh, near Ludhiana.

The wastage of time...the guard is so rude...he thinks that he is prime minister of here..."yahan ka guard ye sochta hai ke woh yahan ka pardhan mantri hai" he says chandigarh gal kar lo...after stupid and non sence talks to a girl...he says talk to chandigarh legal department...and he is the permanent guard of this place...if you want to see this place and spent money...go to doctor or psychiactrist...that's better than that...

A quaint little structure in the middle of a town. It is Still a place that is being developed for tourists, so infrastructure is limited. However, the space gives a neat reminder of how the sarai used to operate and how it was ignored, until recently.

I've never seen residential properties so close to any historic monument. It shows the mughal’s small example of their architecture BUT now after centuries it's getting depleting. I hope the government will take steps to preserve the history and boost historic tourism.

This place is my childhood favorite place it is near to my house. During my school time I use to spend my time there because it is a peaceful place. The history of this place is that it was a guest house of King Sher Shah Suri. There was an under path to Lahor. This place is renovated now.

    Amazing place for photos...

First of all..if u search RDB fort..the Google Maps will bring u here..this is NOT the RDB fort..though few shots of movie Sultan were being shot here...the RDB fort is exactly behind Manji Sahb Gurdwara..so search for Manji Sahb Gurdwara if u really want to visit the RDB fort..now about the place...its a deserted Sarai/ Dharamshala..the beauty of this place lies in the views u get from here..surrounded by green farms..and architecture gives reflection of big fort..a part of..to be exact..so u will get one to two good backgrounds for photography..the lawn is not maintained...not that bad for one visit..
