A very good, silent place for breathing fresh oxygen! It's a mini-jungle, untouched nature. You won't get lost cause the paths are inter-connected. Must apply anti-Mosquito cream before entering 😁 if you are bringing kids make sure they walk along with you!

This sanctuary is quite large and indeed quite a few species of birds can be seen here. But deep inside the sanctuary overgrown vegetation has turned it into a dense jungle. one should to be careful while exploring the sanctuary.

Nice place for birds watching.. best time to visit here in winter..cost of tickets is rs 120..there is no canteen inside.. Better to carry water bottle with you..

Amazing place for bird watching. This is an enclosed garden once maintained privately. Now it's maintained by the forest department. The forest inside is very dense, with numerous species of birds all around. This place is also infested with snakes, therefore be careful while exploring during monsoon months. A must visit for all nature lovers

Wonderful sanctuary for birds where all the remaining wooded areas and water bodies are disappearing fast and being converted to apartments and high-rise buildings. There is not a lot of signage from the main road leading to this place. I got off at Rajpur, Kalitala and walked about a kilometre to get here. Plenty of birds to be seen if you're patient. A little effort could have made this place a whole lot better. If they just maintained a pond, it would have worked like a magnet. And I would have given this place a 5 * rating. Also evening time is when the birds move the most coming back to their perch. But they close at 4:30pm in winter! And closes at 5pm in summer months. The Rs 120/- entry fee works well to deter people not seriously interested in birds from coming in and keep the place peaceful and serene. Even without a lot of effort, I was able to see Woodpeckers, Parakeets, Fantails, Warblers, Kingfishers etc...And there are lots of flora and fauna in the wild. I also imagine this place would come alive after a heavy rain shower and that would fill up the dried up pond!

Beautiful place. Different varieties of birds and butterflies are available here. It is suggested to maintain silence in this sanctuary. Disturbing birds by using fake calls is also prohibited here.

Peaceful and close to nature. It's clean so far. Scared more tourists would make it worse. Indian tourists do not care much of the environment sadly. Please, when you visit this place , be silent and enjoy the place peacefully. Let the birds feel safe. They are very sensitive creatures. They are beautiful.

Very well maintained and peaceful little sanctuary. We did not see any exotic birds, just the regular ones. But we still loved this place. Entry fees is a bit steep, but we were OK with it because it was not crowded.

It was my first time in this Bird Sanctuary. Bird are rare to find but if you want to explore a small yet beautiful forest, you should come and visit this place! But they should have maintained the forest & preserve its beauty at its best!!! Lastly If you love nature and quite place with less human beings then with minimal entry price you can get unlimited pleasure time there. Have fun with your family/friends.

This is definitely a hidden treasure amid the high rises of the city. Located in Narendrapur, West Bengal; it is a place for nature lovers, bird watchers and photographers. Perfect for a weekend break from the hustle of daily life and relaxing in the lap of nature. The area is quite big and almost densely filled with trees. It is home to many species of birds, reptiles, arthropods, amphibians and a few mammals.

Nice place to give you a mini jungle feel but not maintained. You will be able to see many varieties of birds. Due to very high entry fees of rs 120 each very less crowded than other places. Winter is best time to come here. Just sit in silence and enjoy the cacophony of bird songs.

If you are living in Kolkata and you want to visit any kind of animal Sanctuary within minimal time, this Bird Sanctuary is the best choice for you. You won't believe that there is almost 17 Acres of jungle mainly covered with huge mango trees located in the outskirts of Kolkata City, Narendrapur Area. This Chintamani Kar Bird Sanctuary is also known as 'Kayal-r Bagan'. For the beautiful environment here, you can spot many types of birds here. Bird watchers and photographers can definitely visit here to enjoy. This bird sanctuary runs by the State Government now. The ticket price was Rs. 120/- per head, it may vary. One last thing I want to say, beware of the mosquitoes here. Please wear a full covered dress at the time of visiting here.

It's an amazing, calm and quiet place for nature lovers. Though entry fee is too high of 120/-, anyone can enjoy greenery with allowance of food and camera. From children to aged anybody will love this place.

Chintamonikar Bird Sanctuary is a wonderful places for bird watching and for a short trip .💚💚 The entry fees is rs-50/- per head.No extra charges for DSLR and food or parking car. It is located in Baruipur and the place is better known as name Kayal er Bagan. The Garden is famous for wide range of forest , birds, meadows, ferns, orchids, butterflies. It is a greenery beautiful place in the middle of noisy polluted city. But the sanctuary is not maintain properly by the municipality and workers. You can carry homemade tiffin with you can their is a small 'kutir' where you can have the lunch . If you are a bird lover or watcher carry binocular with you and it demands patience to watch birds , moreover it is a foresty place and carry odomos with you millins of mosquitoes are over there .but lastly great place to see birds .

The Bird Sanctuary is shut even though it might Show "Open" on Google. So please make proper enquiries before visiting. The staff have not been paid their salaries for the last several months and so they are on strike. The Government should proactively look into such matters and address the issues to the satisfaction of the workers so that citizens may enjoy this beautiful spot of greenery in the city. Have dropped one of the 5 stars for just that.

This is a nice place for short trip. The entry fees is 50 rupee per head. There is no extra charge for parking and DSLR camera. The place is full with beauty of nature. The place is full of trees , It looks like a mini forest. In the entire portion of this place you get the feel of forest. There are lots of birds inside the sanctuary but It's very rare to see them. When you visit this place bright some food and drinking water for yourself because inside of the place there is no option for food and water. The place is near Of Kolkata Garia Metro Station. I don't think public transport available here, If you come with personal car then that will helpfull for you.

A good place indeed. Well maintained sanctuary. But did not see birds. May be due to some people moving through the forest. But entry fee is too high. The authority should think of it. The eminent sculptor Chintamani Kar had his natural studio in this place. In that sense, this sanctuary has a historical value.

entry fee was 120...though it was a kind of donation. Easy to reach by metro and auto. Near Narendrapur Ramkrishna mission Best time of visit early morning. It's a beautiful mini forest with wildlife. Mostly birds. They are not easy to watch. If you visit in the morning you may see different types of birds and other wildlife. Best time to visit is during winter. Photography allowed. Lots of mosquito so any mosquito repellent is important. Very peaceful and a paradise for nature lovers.

It is a good place to visit if you want a jungle feel. But please avoid visiting in summer and especially monsoon season. You can hear chirping of many birds but spotting them is hard. You can see many butterflies and one or two monitor lizards. Please bring insect repellent and wear shoes suitable for woods. I felt that the entry fee is a bit too high.

It wasn't a pleasing experience... entry fee was 120...though it was a kind of donation. Lots of mosquito and poor maintenance. Authority should give more importance in maintaining a clean and visitor friendly atmosphere. Bring your own food and most importantly water and mosquito cream.

Nice place for nature lovers. We visited this place in mid January. Although we couldn’t find many birds around but the ambiance and jungle feeling of this place is really good. Lots of known and unknown trees are there. This place is a must visit for the nature lovers.

Lovely enclosed sanctuary with a beautiful dense woodland and picturesque trails. Spent a short time here in the evening but a long walk during the morning is likely to provide much enjoyment. Look out for the three species of resident barbets, the delightful White-throated Fantail, and migratory thrushes in winter.

Greenery in the middle of the City Of Joy. If you are a person who love trees and love to watch bird you can visit this place. In summer there was no such bird except some local birds like Fantail, Red vented Bulbul, Rufus treepie, tailors bird. Liked the calmness. But there is lack of maintenance .

Without proper equipment it would be hard the spot the birds, but given the high entry fee you would expect better maintained paths. Go there to take in a breath of fresh air right near kolkata, the google map location can be a bit tricky but asking the locals will do the trick. Overall a nice place for a walk, but beware of dangerous mosquitoes, they are a mood spoiler.

November to March is the best time to visit the sanctuary. The probability of spotting an uncommon bird is less. When visiting try to stay for 2-3hours then the chances of spotting a bird will ne higher. I would recommend not to expect too much from this sanctuary.

This place is just a normal micro forest of a radius of around 500 Meter only. Trees here grown up without human intervention. Few common birds and butterflies can be seen. This place is good for 1day picnic, but charging 120 Rs. Per head is too much costly.

It is a good place for bird photographers. On my first day I did see monitor lizards and a Krait snake. Be careful of the bushes there are snakes as well. So when you go respect the environment. Entry charges is 50 rupees per head and there is facility of a toilet inside. I would go again to spend time these especially for the walk. Macro photographers do remember to carry your kit .

This is a mini forest inside kolkata and there are a lot of birds, animals, insects and plants here. However this is not the best place for bird photography because of the dense canopy and there are only a few good spots for bird watching. I visited in December 2023 which is the best time for birds but unfortunately did not get to see a lot of birds. Will again come back during the monsoon season to do some macro photography.

It's a good place to be , there are walking trails... Can be a bit difficult to spot rare birds as the walking trails limits you . On my visit I saw the Coppersmith barbet , woodpecker and Oriole at a very close distance especially.
