Nice little hideaway with solid ambience and decor! Got the chance to pass by for their monthly jazz night and had a fantastic time. Probably closer to 4.5 stars given space in the venue, but hard to manage draw on a free event. Never a bad thing for a place to fill up as a business!

New ownership has really revitalized the luster that we all remember from Neptune's back in the day. Great music, bartenders, and good vibes. Very lgbtq+ friendly!

Cost of the mix drinks isn't worth the price.(They were too weak!) The muisc was okay there were bad transitions in songs. A fight broke out when I was there. It's a membership place so there's a $5 cover charge for the bar. Other then that the setup is really good maybe next time my experience will be better.

The bar was closed at 12:45 am on a Thursday night when it was supposed to be open. No sign or anything.

Love this place on Wednesday nights. Karaoke there is a blast the crowd is energetic, and I can't even sing. Some people kill it, but don't be intimidated it is a bar for everyone.

Venue okay but Bar tender is rude, slow, and doesnt care about people. Maybe If they focused on better customer service it would be okay but who wants to hang out in a basement paying high prices for drinks to slow and rude bartenders.

Bartender ignored customers for about 30 min, without even acknowledging or showing any sign of caring ( long brown hair/ tattoos) The service in general on Saturday is abhorrent!!! I highly recommend neptunes to hire more bartenders, especially for rush hour!!

Unfortunately I couldn't give more than it deserved. For the simple fact. I was trying to findout who the DJ was playing for. I saw a lot of bobbing head from the DJ both but no one was dancing. I'm assuming after a 3 year hiatus. DJ 's would be wanting to make up for loss time. My observation play to get your crowd on the floor. Because dancing people end -up as thirsty people. Everyone remembers what a DJ did today, not 3 years ago. Awesome establishment with plenty of potential. NYChouselive

Neptunes is a nice place to go on a Friday or Saturday night. It's got a good vibe and decent drinks for decent prices.

Peter Lamb & the Square Quartet leading Jazz night open call 3rd Tuesdays...world class talent stepping out here in downtown Raleigh in steamy August...and the skilled bartenders, ahhh, a good time was had by all.

Neptunes is underground but with an impressive upscale vibe. The place felt well kept. DJ was entertaining, personable and engaging with the audience! He stayed in touch with the mood and kept things exciting. We came here on a Wednesday night for karaoke and it felt like they were staying in tune to the pulse of the night and moving things along quickly. Only real con is the size of the place since I can imagine that it may be difficult to find seats on the weekends. Would definitely visit again!

Great setting... cool vibes and dope music

We went on a Saturday night and there was a $5 cover charge for a DJ. Drinks were good. DJ was OK. In my opinion the space was too small and did not have enough bathrooms for the amount of patrons. Vibes were interesting. Might have to try the place again on a slower night. The bartenders however were great! Very attentive and kind.

Neptunes is back and better than ever! Cozy/vibey space, awesome bartenders, good music.

Edit: THEY'RE BACK! Miss this place (along with King's). Was one of the few bars you could go to and completely forget you're in central North Carolina. The lighting, diverse music and clientele, combined with great bartenders made it one of our favorite spots in the city. Really hope there's some good news around a re-opening in the near future.

Food was not as good as I hoped. The chef refused to use grilled chicken for the chicken parm to make it gluten free. Had to get a gluten free pasta primavera, which made me incredibly sick. Had to wait for a table for a very long time, but there was literally no where to stand. The waitress also consistently was nowhere to be found.

Bartender was very selective over what customers he wanted to serve and when... First drink took 13 minutes to get and we was all three sitting at the bar the hole time. Just waiting.... So we drank our one round and left.

This is the place I go to dance in the dark. It's fun, the music is always different and on point and I always see my far share of characters. It gets hot down there in the basement, but it's really fun. You will see hipsters. Lots of them. But who cares?

I love the music here whether it is the DJ giving songs their due by planning more that 30 seconds worth, or a band that is casually playing on a quiet Monday evening. I also think it is a little known gem for it's drinks menu that come at a terrific price compared to other cocktail bars in the area. I feel confident popping into Neptunes for a fun evening any night of the week.

Great 'underground' bar and atmosphere. DJ's on the weekends, typically play great music (hip-hop/r&b/rap) and you may even catch a couple guys breaking dancing out on the dancefloor, which is always fun to watch! Bartenders do their best to get your drinks immediately! One less star from amazing is the fact that, in the summer time, that basement bar turns into a sauna.. The "remodel" for more seating is awkward and undone, but that might go with the appeal? One thing I would like to recommend to bring back- they used to put beautiful aromatic tiger lilies in the womens bathroom, that was an awesome note! One thing that really stuck out for me, on my first couple visits!

It can get a little stuffy, but every time I come here I enjoy myself. Whether it's open mic for stand up comedy, or just my brother and me starting a dance battle on Saturday night. Keep up the good work guys.

Killer bar and venue. The comedy show on Sundays here is incredible. And the staff is awesome.
