Found this place by accident looking for a different restaurant. Overall, the ambience is superb. I found the food pretty underwhelming. Presentation is great, but the portion sizes are so incredibly small for the price! Salad was $20! With a few poached shrimp. Crazy. Pimento cheese with friend saltines is a no for me. I don’t really understand the concept of fried saltines. They would have been fine not fried. Pimento cheese was mediocre and not worth the $12. Definitely won’t be back. $86 for a lunch (without tip) is nuts. You can get authentic seafood right down the street at 42 oyster st for way more and the same price, if not less.

First time really trying oysters, this is a wonderful place to do so. Especially on a Wednesday (west coast Wednesdays!). Bar staff made some bang up cocktails, and the food coming from the kitchen, let’s just say I will be back! That asparagus dish with the almond romesco sauce is bomb! Next time I go, the BBQ shrimp will be ordered! Ps. They deep fry their saltines, something different to enjoy!

The fire roasted oysters are to die for! So were the BBQ shrimp and market catch fish stew. The BBQ shrimp does come with shells. The stew was incredibly flavorful and unique. It was quite a large portion so I had leftovers. The ambiance was really nice. I ate inside but the outdoor seating looked very warm and cute with big heaters. I will hopefully be back!

My daughter wanted to take me for a special dinner for my visit to Raleigh and, knowing my love for oysters, chose St. Roch. So glad she did! We started with two delicious cocktails- Cold Day in the Sun & Mind Eraser, No Chaser- and crispy frog legs to share. They were very tender, meaty and perfectly seasoned. My daughter had a bowl of gumbo. It was hearty, filled with shredded chicken, andouille sausage topped with red potato salad & trout row caviar. I ordered a dozen West Coast raw oysters, which were fresh, briny and fantastic!

This seafood bar is close to the natural science museum. It looks really cool inside, lots of marine vibe decor. I tried the potato latka special appetizer and it was really good!! I also ordered the Carolina Calabash with shrimp and it was a great variety of different items. It was delicious and very filling, more than enough for 2 people. The grits with cheese was amazing!! This is a great oyster bar!!

Favorite brunch spot. We always get fresh oysters. The crackers are a crispy buttery delicious treat. Biscuits are amazing, probably my favoritein town. Service can't be beat. You will not be disappointed.

Amazing food with layers of flavor. This was just brunch on Sunday and the food brought silence to the table. I can't imagine how good dinner would be. We'll be back! Pics are BBQ Shrimp & Grits, Hotcakes & Honey, and the jovial 😉 Gumbo with Grits, Andouille, pickled okra, and trout roe (I should've rotated the pic first).

Sometimes, there is a restaurant you just have not gotten around to visiting. You finally make it after a couple of years and realize, you've missed a lot of potentially great meals in that time. 😂 St. Roch was, frankly, one of the best meals I've had in recent memory, and we have no shortage of fantastic restaurants in the Triangle. The oysters are on point (4-6 happy hour and we happened to visit on west coast Wednesday with half price Pacific Northwest oysters). The beet salad was amazing, the west Indies style fish stew with snapper even more so, but the star might have been Alligator Bolognese with house made gnocchi. Don't skip the beignets or the hurricanes!

Had a lovely date night dinner with my partner! I'm a huge fan of seafood (especially oysters), though my partner had never tried it, so we figured this would be a wonderful spot to try on our vacation. Our server Jacob was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We went fairly early (4:30pm) so it was not busy, which allowed us to really enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant. We started with two orders of the Happy Hour oysters, then had the Heirloom Tomato Salad and the Pork Schnitzel. Everything was divine!

This is more of a 4.5 star review. The food is phenomenal, full stop. We had the boudin, some roasted oysters, frog legs, and gumbo & grits. Where it loses points is on one pretty big issue and one pretty small issue. The big - prices. This place is expensive. The frog legs cost $18, which I’d say was the item that most caught me off guard. Some menu items are priced highly and I understand why, but some items definitely could come down in cost. This was the brunch menu. The smaller issue - it’s dark inside, like, too dark. I get it for “bar” mode, but at 12:30pm on Sunday, let’s bring the house lights up a bit. I had to pump the exposure way up just to get decent pics of my food. Overall, absolutely delicious and a wonderful take on Cajun/Creole food, but it’s definitely a “once in a while treat” kind of place rather than a “regular favorite” with the prices.

Simply an excellent experience and food. Things that stood out to me was how fast the service was and how excellent the seafood was. A number of variety of oyster to choose from at various price. But also an excellent bar service with numerous options available. One appetizer that stood out to me was the catfish hush puppies and they were amazing!

Absolutely everything was delicious from start to finish. The cocktails were inventive and fun, beautifully balanced and absolutely divine! The food was so fantastic. We had the blue crab claws in black garlic vinaigrette and chili oil (my favorite thing!!) the flame roasted oysters with Tasso bacon and with garlic butter (I couldn’t decide on a favorite both were incredible) the calabash fried fish platter (this had EVERYTHING you could want with your fried seafood!) the gumbo (all it needed was a splash of hot sauce.) and the peel & eat shrimp (sometimes you just want a classic and it was exactly what we were craving!) The service was superb, our server Jordan was so helpful and knew every item on the menu perfectly. He was also such a joy to speak with, an absolute gem! The atmosphere is beautiful and fun, we loved everything. Can’t wait to come back!

We had an absolutely fantastic dinner. How has the chef not won a James Beard award?! If Michelin was in RDU, they would have easily be recognized.

Former NOLA resident here. Consistent dopamine fireworks. Had the grits from their brunch menu. Superb. Brunch ends at 4 and then shifts to dinner menu and pricing. Tuesdays and Wednesdays have specials. Definitely prioritize coming if in downtown Raleigh.

A must for anyone visiting Raleigh AND for everyone living in close (enough) proximity. After an Oyster Shooter with tequila enhanced by St. Roch’s proprietary spicy embellishment, I enjoyed the Heirloom Tomato salad. With the addition of two kinds of ripe tomatoes the okra was cooked to perfection. It’s a seasonal dish so get it while you can! The main course was the market fish, and THAT was perfect. Service is attentive. Vibe is high. Ambience enhanced by dimmed lighting and eclectic art. Bon appetite!

Always a great atmosphere inside the restaurant! The food is also always good. I ordered the roasted oysters, half BBQ and the other half pimento cheese oysters. My hubby had the red beans and rice with andouillie sausage. We also had fried oysters and shrimp. You must save your appetite for the warm, powdered beignets with carmel sauce!!! The atmosphere directly outside of the restaurant is a whole other experience! I will just say keep walking and ignore the folk hanging outside of the restaurant.

Shared a great meal with a business colleague. We had the fish dip & crawfish hush puppies to start. The dip was served with fried saltine crackers (don't judge until you've tried) and the hush puppies with a flavored butter. We devoured all of both. For main, I had a bowl of gumbo and my husband had the red beans and rice. Both of those were very delicious, although I will say that the gumbo wasn't like other gumbos I've had. It was delicious, but it tasted more like chili. Not a bad thing, just different. The star of the show, though, was the BBQ shrimp. The are served with the tail on in an amazing, heavenly, coconut broth, with lime and a little bit of heat from jalapeno. And unbelievably delicious bread to dip it in. The broth was so good that we actually got extra bread to keep on dipping. I will definitely return and definitely order the BBQ shrimp. Our server Julie was also very attentive and very knowledgeable and shared insight into the menu that was very helpful.

I have no idea why I have not been here before but it’s probably because I was not aware of the vegetarian options. I loved the venue instantly. The lighting is warm and cozy and the exposed brick and decor is perfect. I loved the smoked pimento cheese and cauliflower in curry, pomme frites (not fried in duck fat!) and the bread! My dinner mates enjoyed the striped bass, strawberry and beet salad, frog legs, oysters and shrimp! The gin cocktails were out of this world, along with the red wine. I regret I can’t remember our servers name but he was delightful! A huge win overall and can’t wait to return!

This. Place. Is. Heaven! Best oysters in the state. Every single item on the menu is delicious. We drove an hour and half just to have an anniversary meal! They had initially seated us at the wrong table, but it was quickly, politely fixed. The service and food cannot be beat. Want a taste of New Orleans without the cliche? This is your joint. From frog legs to shrimp and grits, this place will knock your socks off!

A beautiful little restaurant in downtown Raleigh!! Was able to find street parking pretty easily (it's free on the weekend!). Waitress was super nice, we had asked for recommendations and she gave us her favs and we ordered them! They were absolutely delicious and I'm glad we went with her recommendations. For apps, we ordered the Smoked Fish Dip (do not pass this up. It is SO GOOD). Our waitress brought us extra fried saltines without us asking (for free)!! I had to try some oysters since it's an oyster bar. They had their happy hour half dozen for $9 oysters. Added $0.50 cents for a topping. I'm not a huge oyster person but they were pretty good!! For entrees, we got the BBQ shrimp and the Dirty Rice. I had never seen my husband clean up his plate so well!! He said the dirty rice was DELICIOUS. The duck was very tender and the skin was crispy. The shrimp was amazing as well. It is peel and eat so you do have to peel it BUT the waitress came with moist towelettes and a tray to put all the shrimp peel in...very thoughtful!! The dish also came with lots of sopping bread to soak up all that delicious sauce. No room for dessert at all but we will have to go back to try the beignets!!

Loved the southern, creole vibe. Nico was our waiter and was very attentive and made awesome suggestions. There were so many delicious options on the cocktail and dinner menu to choose from! We ended up getting crab claws, gator bolognese, gumbo, and beignets for dessert! We got there early enough to enjoy the happy hour oysters, (and an oyster shot) they were great and the reduced price point was fitting. We had a great experience start to finish! Definitely give this place a try if you are in downtown Raleigh and looking for a place for fresh and unique dishes!

One of my favorite dinner restaurants in downtown Raleigh. We went for brunch this time and it was so fabulous as I expected. Can't go wrong with anything oyster related on their menu but I was surprised they had incredibly unique and tasty salads too. I'll definitely be back! I didn't get a picture of my espresso martini but it's my favorite in town to date!

Wonderful food and service! Our server answered our questions about food and drinks with ease. The Baked Oysters were some of the best I've ever had and the Gator Bolognese was exceptional.

I love the ambiance in this location. It is a nice place. The crowd was nice as well. If you are not there when it opens, it can get pretty busy. I ordered the Bolo N Grits. It was very different. It was good; however, I believe it had too much of the chili. The chili overpowered the whole dish. You can taste the grits, or you can tell that they had grits, and I'm by the texture, but mostly, it was a chili bowl. I tried the fried boudin balls. They were nice. I was expecting a little bit more flavor. But not bad. For the cocktail, I ordered the Vieux Carre and loved it. It was nice and made perfectly. I had a great time, and I will be back.

Absolutely amazing. Food & staff. Everyone supported everyone to make for a seamless experience. Oysters were shucked extremely well, small plates beautifully presented. Finally somewhere in Raleigh with a great food happy hour. Wednesday from 5-6pm on a select oyster. About to become a regular I have feeling. Thank you!

After having been a few times I can confidently say this oyster bar is UNIQUE!!! The Tchoupitoulas Street Special is a must have; the blue crabs are delicious marinated and tender, the peel-and-eat shrimp are always huge and buttery, and the oysters taste so fresh! The BBQ shrimp was another delicious and surprising dish, the broth tastes similar to a Louisiana style curry! I have never had anything quite like it before! And finally, the cocktails are cleverly named, easy to drink, and pair well with the seafood!
