Where do I even begin? I called regarding late check in before my date of reservation and received mixed information from 3 different staff members. The lobby and hallways were poorly maintained (the entire second floor is covered in mysterious stains). Every nook and cranny reeks of cigarette smoke. As soon as we walked in our room there was a roach on the floor, and we reported it to the man at the front desk and he told us something to the fact that it happens when the back door is left open too long. We were down there to attend Dreamville Fest and we checked out early because the hotel didn’t feel clean (being willing to leave at 1:30 am instead of waiting until checkout is an indication of a real problem). We ran into other people in the parking lot that were also perturbed at the state of the hotel. The photos are HIGHLY misleading. Took photos of the main problem areas that I can happily attach. If there had been other options available in the city I definitely would’ve explored them. Easily the worst hotel I’ve stayed in.

The hotel was dirty. The elevator was out of order. The hallway walls had cut out drywall, and you could see the insulation. The pool wasn't available to use. The ice machine was leaking water into the hallway. I saw multiple bugs in the room I said in, and one of them was a roach that a couple of them got into my vehicle. The front desk person says that house keeping only clean the rooms every other day, and not on Sundays. The breakfast was was not the best at all. And other guest at the hotel was getting high outside of the hotel. I will never stay there again.

It's more like a 0 star hotel. Disgusting and nasty place to stay. I regret every second staying in this dump. I reserved for 2 night and they charged for 5. Total ripoff. Moldy bathroom, no ventilation either. A funky smell in the entire hotel. Don't ever book there, it is a horrible place to stay.

I will NEVER recommend this hotel. If I could leave a zero Star review I would. We found a roach in our room, stains on the sheets, no room service at all (no fresh towels, trash didn’t get taken out, bed didn’t get made). We got locked out of our room because the room key card wouldn’t work. The elevator did not work and the pool was also not available. The fire alarm had a malfunction and went off at 1:00am. Very busy and noisy streets. Only 2 hrs of breakfast time and the food is nasty. When brought to staff’s attention we only got offered a discount for the next time we book this hotel. But that definitely will not happen.

It was a very nice room but elevator doesn't work. Front desk takes cash and doesn't report. I was kicked out for using the side door which in these conditions I don't see any consideration. Hotel is great staff nahh

The staff was very welcoming however the hotel is not very appealing AT all... When u walk in it looks very old looking and dirty. The elevator is broken and no rooms were available on the first floor. The second floors carpet is worn out and dirty and has a very disgusting smell. My room had hair all on the bathroom floor(that was not mines or my kids) and the tub was nasty.. The pillows were super small and only two per bed.I guess it's a true saying of you get what you pay for. They should really take those pictures down because its noting like the actual hotel. The paper is peeling and looks nothing like those photos. Very old and probably had mold in the building just from the looks of it. I prayed that we didnt get sick and hurried out of there this morning. Very disappointed. Never again.

I read a lot of negative reviews on this hotel but because of the price, we took a chance. Just as several reviewers pointed out, the “smoke free environment “ reeked of smoke from the moment we walked in the door. The hallways were very dirty and in desperate need of new carpet and there wasn’t much to the “free breakfast.” The upside was that despite the smell of smoke that made its way even to our room, the room was clean, including the bathroom which had a great shower head, and a high-quality TV. In general though, it wasn’t a pleasant experience.

Pretty terrible experience, mirror fell off the wall and startled me out of my sleep needs new dry anchors. The room is relatively clean aesthetically but their are roaches, water bugs whatever you decide to call them. You’ll see them sometimes on desk in the bathroom or comforter every so often. I slept with the lights on to be safe lol. The funny thing is as absurd as this review sounds I’m not lying. Luckily my stay was only for two days cause I would not have made it any further. I will put more money towards a better hotel in the future. The hotel has potential it just needs to workout a few small details. 🤷🏾

The rooms were decent, until I found 2 dead baby roaches… bed was comfortable , tv was nice. The elevator is dirty and smells like smoke almost throughout the building.

Staff were friendly and rooms were fine (clean for the most part and had everything you'd need to be comfy) HOWEVER we will not be staying here again due to this place REEKING of weed, cockroach found alive in the hallway, and other guests blasting music and screaming until 3 or 4am all 3 nights we stayed. You really do get what you pay for so spend a little extra and avoid this spot at all costs especially if you have children!!

It was the cheapest hotel we could find, and we found out why... I cant say much about the service, we didn't require any other than checking in. The rooms were decent, although, the power outlet in our bathroom didn't work, the shower had peeling paint, the door knob to the room didn't work right and the bathroom door in the room my sister and her husband had didn't close. The hallways smelled like weed the whole time we were there. The elevator was a bit funky, at times it would take you to the wrong floor and one time it started moving before the doors closed. I did not like this hotel, although, for a last minute, have to find a place to stay, I have had worse.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The pillows were small but there were several of them. A/C unit worked pretty good. Fan in the bathroom didn't work so it steamed up pretty fast. The elevator worked but was slow. Cleanliness in halls and elevator left us skittish about the quality of the room but the room was good. Everything else appeared to be under construction or in transition. Evening and morning staff were kind and helpful. The street facing building heard all the late night traffic but the ac helped drown that some. Not bad for a last minute find at a decent price.

DO NOT stay here. I repeat do not stay here. The pictures will have you fooled. The floors are disgusting in the lobby, hallways, and rooms. We have a non-smoking room and it has the WORST cigarette stench.. not even exaggerating, it gave me a headache because the smell was so strong. We looked at the bed sheets to check for bed bugs, rest assured, there were none but there were hairs all over the sheets. There’s also black stains on the ceiling in the bathroom, not sure if that’s mold but it’s concerning. I’m not one to leave reviews and complain but this was just unacceptable in my opinion. This place could have potential if the cleaning staff did a better job.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! DO NOT STAY! this hotel was nothing like the photos, stains on the walls, bugs on the bed, blood or other red substance on sheets, no light in bathroom, the fridge and freezer were gross and fully of moldy water, and the floor made my socks black, the housekeeper had three kids running around screaming, and the whole place reeked of old cigarettes mixed with ammonia. I will never stay again, I demanded a full refund, and they charged my card again! They better hope all three charges fall off.

Do NOT stay here. My husband and I were coming into Raleigh for a Hurricanes game and we planned to stay here because the rooms looked so nice. The minute we walked in, we knew it’s going to be bad. Cheap decor, and quick renovation but definitely got someone to do it for cheap. No concessions available to purchase. Only bagged breakfast which stinks, because only hotels are doing full breakfast. Walk away from the front lobby and no renovations. Smelly carpet and smells musty. We went on the sketchy elevator and immediately was hit with the smell of weed and cigarette smoke from our floor. I tried to keep calm, but I couldn’t stay. The room was like the picture, but the “pillows” were throw pillows. We decided to say loyal to IHG (Holiday Inn, Holiday Express, etc.) and checked out and went to a nearby IHG hotel. If you want a cheap and sketchy motel… this one is for you.

Great place to stay. Has the balance of decent rooms and cheap clean place with a fantastic breakfast (considering one lady prepares it and keeps the items in stock). It has hot waffles, fresh fruit, bagels, juice, cereal, coffee, pastries, milk etc. No pets is a bummer and the customers are generally low on the income scale….. but it’s quiet and family oriented. The rooms have every amenity, the showers are top notch with wash items like shampoo attached to the wall and comfy towels. Management and staff are professional and easily moved my reservation once when I picked the wrong dates. One front desk associate doesn’t even blink when a problem arises and manages to make sure people are satisfied. Same with who I assume is the general manager. Not only did they have sympathy for my health situation, they allowed an early check in because we were rewards members and had been valued customers at that hotel several times in recent weeks. If there is truly one thing that any customer anywhere wants….it is to be recognized and rewarded when they need something extra because of a personal circumstance. It made me a customer for life and I would highly recommend this place if you need an inexpensive room with amenities no other cheap hotel offers but are ok with semi fancy.

DO NOT ENTER! This is a roach motel putting on airs. You can't put Lipstick on a pig as they say. The night manager, who refused to give his name, pounded on my door at 11:30pm and simply croaked, "Front Desk!" I looked out the peephole. This man was about 200lbs heavier and a foot taller than the person at the front desk. I said I needed to see some ID and he refused saying then he was the manager. I said I didn't beleive it based on the way he was dressed. No uniform, no name tag and he refused to show ID. He threatened cops. My friend and I put on clothes and against my better judgment, opened the door. He said report of smoke from our room. We showed him we had incense. He said nothing can be burned including candles and I said no one told me that. I asked him why he was acting like Gestapo and he gave us 15 minutes to pack up and leave. I think he did not like me questioning his authority. He flashed a maglight in my face and when I kept asking for identification he shut right up and wouldn't say another word. Found out his name is "Scottie". The staff can't seem to tell me anything else. I am still trying to get a refund but this hotel will not respond to their own corporate office. Saw roaches in the room, it smells, thus the incense. And they are definitely shady.

The picture of the hotel are NOT representative of the location. It smells BAD the staff is deceptive. I couldn’t take the smell so I tried to cancel my room I asked for a refund and they only offered one night back. A week later I still haven’t received my refund. The rooms are dirty and old. Definitely a 0 star hotel. Room 225 had duct tape holding the door together. I definitely didn’t feel safe. STAY AWAY

The room smelled like strong fragrance spray and also smoke. It was a weird smell. The AC didn’t work. I wish I would’ve checked the reviews before I booked but I was in a rush. But the parking was free and it had free breakfast. I wouldn’t stay here again though.

The bed was very comfortable, the TV quality and channel were superb. The only thing is the bathroom needs a little painting. I am not sure about the charge for breakfast, that seems odd. Overall nice.

Do not stay here. Just don’t. Zero stars. This hotel was incredibly dirty, very dated, and truly falling apart. In our room, the sockets were falling out of the walls, the toilet seat had burns and melted plastic, the hairdryer had been repaired with some sort of glue and was sticky so it had hair from other guests in it. The showers are disgusting with mold around the edges. While showering, the door kept sliding open. The light switches were filthy and the room smelled of smoke. The ice maker didn’t work in our hallway. Our keys stopped working twice and had to be fixed. The windows were unusable and were off the tracks when we tried to air out the smell. The elevator had not been cleaned in months if I had to guess. No sweeping or mopping in there. There were people in the parking lot drinking beer and leaving their bottles and trash out on multiple occasions, even in the middle of the day. Not a safe feeling to see this next to our cars.

I checked in to the hotel after the concert. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. hotel had complimentary breakfast in morning to start off the day right. I got the room for a good price and most hotel seemed highly priced due to the concert. i will be back to clarion on my future stay.

This hotel is gross.. not the same as the pictures shown on the booking websites. It smells weird like cigarettes the floors are not cleaned very grimy, the elevator felt like it was falling apart it would start moving before the doors were even fully closed. They were questionable stains EVERYWHERE the couch the carpets the walls that were covered up with paint. I’m in disbelief. My husband and I stayed there for 5 minutes and the only reason why we even stayed that long was to book another hotel. Can’t get a refund either. Please don’t stay here. Spend the extra 80-100$ to get a better hotel.

I want to thank the employees of the Clarion Hotel for turning my not so pleasant experience into a GOOD experience. When I first checked in the night clerk patiently helped me move from the Suburban to the Clarion on the first floor close to the office so that me and my family could feel safe. That evening I notice an issue about the room and put in a complaint. The next day Tabitha went above and beyond the call of duty and personally walked from room to room to make sure I would be satisfied with the next room for the remainder of my stay and told me if I have any problems to let her know. This lady deserves a raise, while she was helping me she was multitasking the phone and other guests. Another male employee made sure all my appliances were in working order in my room. This hotel deserves a second chance. The employees work so hard to give you a good experience. I would to thank all the employees at the Clarion hotel guest services, housekeeping, maintenance and management for being a caring and helpful staff and making our stay turn into a good experience.

Allow me say. I didn't like the room. Lots of noise across from my room. And the guess kept is up all night with the noise. And smoke smell was horrible in the hall. This is the second Clarion hotel I have ever stayed at as a choice member and neither was a good place. Thanks

I checked in and chose not to stay due to property maintenance issues. The first room had a very distinct and strong odor of mold. A poor sheet rock replacement under the sink revealed holes in the walls around the damaged area and one screw holding the sheetrock in place. The microwave was missing the exterior layer of the door. The TV screen had either body fluids or food on it. The bathroom doorhad a hole. I requested a new and was given new accommodations. However this room had problems of it's own. The coat rack was hanging out of the wall. This is where I found out there is no maintenance staff. This hotel owner appears to get away low to no maintenance when it is obvious this place needs a lot of work. Cutting corners is very unfortunate way to maintain any property. You can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig. After all of that I decided not to stay and I still have to wait 5 business days for funds to be returned to my credit card. This place has the audacity to hold my funds hostage. They ought to hold the maintenance staff hostage. Not happy at all with this place 02/19/2022

This place is disgusting. Mold on the ceiling and in bathrooms. Tv didn’t work. Lights flickered on and off. Bedding had stains and burn marks. There was also hair on the bed. We found a McDonald’s coffee (not empty) in one of the drawers. The smell in the hall and in the room was overbearing. We will never stay here again.
