Jonha waterfall is one of the best place around Ranchi ,Jharkhand for whole day excursion . idle place for picnic get together with a mesmerizing view of whole valley .Around monsoon the flow of waterfall is quiet rapid so its better to keep distance but rest of the time of year bathing in water is possible for tourists .

Situated at an edge of the Ranchi plateaus, the Jonha Falls is an example of a hanging valley falls. It is very amazing place. The Gunga River hangs over its master stream, Raru River and forms the falls. Everyone should visit this place

More than 350 stairs for up and down, quite a hike. Mesmerizing view after reaching down. Zip line is also available. You can order for food before going and it will be ready by the time you come back.

One of the beautiful and magical . Must visit. Tickets needed. There’s a nature made small pool is there just down part of that falls. Great photography place and spots are amazing. But there’s 750 steps you have to climb up and climb down. Carry water with you obviously.

One of the best tourist place in ranchi. This place is around 40 km away from ranchi in the ranchi - purulia highway. You should go this place between end December till March. In this period of time the place will be crowded and you don't feel alone😄.You have to step down almost 350 stairs to reach main waterfall. The view and the beauty of the place has another level. The entry fee is just rs 10 excluding parking charges ( which is different for different class of vehicle). Here you can take your food, but if you haven't carried then don't worry this place has many food stall of fast food, ice cream, puchka, samosa etc. Small hotel is also there for breakfast and lunch.the place is safe to go with family friends and with your youni children too.

I thing of beauty is a joy forever... The over streams of Gunga River and the falls of Raru River has changed the entire atmosphere of the place. The Jonha Falls falling from 43 meters or 141 feet high, it has awesome surroundings to watch. Tourists from all over India and foreigner too come across to watch this beautiful view. You can enjoy along with your family, it’s quite safe over here. The flow of the water is a bit slowly, but during monsoon, it’s become furious.  The falls named “Gautam Dhara” after the name of Gautama Buddha.  The local believed that Lord Buddha took bath here. The place is overwhelmed by Buddhist culture, as there are two beautiful Buddha Temple nearby the falls, built by King Baldevdas Birla.  Tourists also visit these temples that come to see the falls.

You have to walk almost 1300 steps up-down to reach the fall's view. The best thing here is the zip line, avoid going in monsoon if you want to do experience the zip line. The level of water increases and they don't allow to do the zip line. If you are using local trains for travelling, I suggest you to walk to the station crossing tribal villages. It would be a great experience if you have an interest in anthropology. If you are in the area, it is a must visit place.

Location - Around 40kms from Ranchi. Visitors need to have their own mode of communication or rented ones as there is no public transportation available. Cleanliness - Parking and Stairs are clean but when downstairs plastics, plates, bottles have been left by the visitors. Around 300-400 stairs are there. While going down people feel comfortable but while coming up it's very painful. There are Local Hotels which on given order can cook for you. Veg and Non Veg both. Chicken is available with them. While going downstairs to waterfall just order them and when you return back food will be ready. I will recommend Non Veg Food as in veg there is limited options, no paneer or mushroom untill you provide them. I'll recommend SUKRA Hotel which is just near to the parking. There are Photoshoots, picnic spots available. Visitors can also bring their fuel and utensils and cook food and enjoy.

This waterfall is easy to recommend for a family trip. Very nice vibe for having picnic. Desi vibe. They now also have zipline service. So you can get a taste of adventure sports. The zipline is very short. Rainbow 🌈 also forms in this waterfall regularly.. One the most famous waterfall in the city of waterfalls. Must visit with your friend and family.

A good place to go to. You have to climb down about 500 stairs to reach to the river bed. But if you are adventurous enough (like us :p) you can climb down by the bolders. But avoid this in rainy reason.

Want to experience nature? This is the place to go. Ticket is ₹10 per person. Do I want to go again? - Definitely You will feel calm and natural bliss. In the starting point, there are lots of small hotels. If you want to have lunch you have to tell them in advance before going to explore the waterfall. There are around 500-600 stairs to reach the waterfall below. Once you reach the waterfall, I suggest you to stop for few mins and watch the waterfall. Don't start clicking pictures. Enjoy it with your eyes. BUT be careful with the rocks, as they can be slippery around the water. NOTE - You will get two small kids there asking for food. Don't give them anything as they keep eating free of cost by asking every people who went there to visit the waterfall.

Another Beauty of jharkhand !! Have to say it was so mesmerizing to see it. You can stay there for hours . It's a Common tourist and picnic spot . You can get all the good on top of the mountain. It was so beautiful coz we visited there on Independence day itself and it was felt good to see the flags flying high up . What a beautiful view. Also there are clouds floating all around the fall and if you're lucky you might encounter a rainbow too 🌈. Beauty itself.

Amidst nature, a beautiful creation. According to me the best time to visit is from july to September when there is rain, then you can get the best experience of it. There's a good walk trail followed by approximately 700 stairs to reach the foot. Some sheds and viewpoints are made between the stairs if someone cannot go down completely. Anyone wanting to have a nice play in the water, it's possible but at your own risk.

Not liked very much. Once you can visit. Don't go during summer. It's too hot. And there is nothing special. It's just like other waterfall in Jharkhand. Also, take your own snacks. And stay hydrated.

One of the must visit places in Ranchi. It's just 35km/1 hour away from the city. Monsoon is the best time to visit. Don't forgot to visit Sita falls. Small trek to falls is added to the package for adventure seeking persons. Good place for birdwatching and enjoying nature.

A beautiful place which is worth visiting. People need to use staircase for reaching this place no other options are available . When i visited this place it was not that much crowded and the waterfall was also little bit dried up. U can also get many things for snacking here. Its just that it needs a little bit of maintenance. So ,its a must visit place.

Nothing to say. This is a wonderful shower in the lap of nature. You You have to descend about 540 stairs to reach. Stairs are clean even in the monsoon season. If you are planning to explore JH, then you must include this location in your list. Highly recommended.

My visit to the waterfall last Sunday was absolutely incredible! The place had a breathtaking view and a fantastic atmosphere. However, there were a few things that I learned during my visit that might be helpful for anyone planning to go there. Firstly, at the entrance, you'll encounter a bamboo barricade where they issue tickets for Rs 20. The cost might vary depending on the type of vehicle you have; I was on my bike, and they charged me Rs 20. As you proceed, you might encounter a group of boys (3-4) asking you to park at a specific spot. Be cautious, as they turned out to be fraudulent. Initially, I fell for it and paid them Rs 20 for parking. However, the ticket they gave me seemed suspicious—it had no vehicle number, and they didn't have a booklet for tickets. On my return, they asked for the ticket back, presumably to use it for another vehicle. To avoid this, it's better to drive a few meters ahead where there's free parking available. The waterfall itself is about 500 steps down, which can be tiring on the way back up. However, you'll find small stalls along the way where you can grab a refreshing sattu drink or lemonade to re-energize. Additionally, there are vendors offering a variety of Desi meals, packaged snacks, and beverages. Just be aware that they might charge an extra Rs 5 on packaged items. Once you make your way down, the sight of the beautiful waterfall awaits, providing the perfect place to relax and soak in the beauty of nature.

So this fall is very beautiful with most loving scenery 😍...there is more than 500 stairs for the fall.. it's bit risky over here as there is some spot slippery in the rainy season. There is dhaba over here with good deshi food taste( see pictures I shared ) Washroom are available over here but it's really very dirty and no water. Down the fall is so pretty. Though water is dirty in rainy season but it's really soothing. You can visit with friends and family here but in the rainy season be careful because the water level rises suddenly. The best time to visit here from October to February. Must visit.

Excellent scenic beauty of Jharkhand near Ranchi. Very beautiful waterfall. Almost 600-700 stairs are there to go down. The mist and droplets of the waterfall will make your body calm. There are one shortcut which is on the right side of the entrance beside the food shops. Try to visit at the time of monsoon , at that time water is huge. Lunch food is available but prior order must be given. Entry fee is Rs. 10/- per head. Parking charge takes Rs. 40/- for 4wheelers.

Serene, scenic and unadulterated natural beauty. Well maintained by local authorities and fabulous tourist place. Anyone visiting Ranchi during/post monsoons must take a quick 60 mins drive to this place. There are close to 250-300 stairs to get down to the fall but steps are really flat and convenient for a 60yr old normal healthy person also as my mummy was able to descend and climb up with few stop overs on the way. A must visit place and if you have time do take a quick 20 mins drive down to Sita Falls also which is just a branched road on the route.

Jonha Falls in Ranchi is a breathtaking marvel of nature that leaves you spellbound with its majestic beauty. Nestled amidst lush greenery, this waterfall is a true gem of Jharkhand. The moment you set eyes on it, you're greeted by a cascade of crystal-clear water tumbling down from a great height, creating a mesmerizing spectacle that's both awe-inspiring and serene. However, be prepared for a bit of an adventure to reach the base of the falls. Descending the many steps can be a challenge, but it's a journey well worth it.Climbing back up those steps might test your stamina, but the view from the top is equally spectacular. It offers panoramic vistas of the lush valley below, making every step of the climb worth the effort. Whether you're a nature lover, a photographer, or simply seeking solace in the lap of nature, Jonha Falls is a must-visit destination that combines the beauty of the waterfall with an adventurous journey.

Monsoon would be the best season to visit in the falls. You can also take a plunge in the shallow chill waters for the best enjoyment and relaxed outing. You can also be able to try the local restaurants. The fall closes at 4 in the evening so make sure to come early and enjoy. There are gazebos to sit and have fun with friends and family while enjoying food on fresh leaves

Ranchi city witnesses many fall one being Johna, a great picnic spot telling you considering new year eve. This is a serene place set amidst the forests of Jharkhand. The lush green forests are filled with the roaring sound of waterfall as one descends down the stairway. All along the path are set quaint little huts that sell tea, biscuits and soft drinks. As one reaches down the cascading water mesmerizes you. Completely captivating! PS - There's also a zip line for adventure seekers which goes across the waterfall and provides a bird's eye view ! “Great Falls” A very beautiful falls. One needs to go d some steps. But it is totally worth it. The falls is very mesmerizing when one sees it from close

Wonderful waterfall. One of the best, I must say. Beautiful place, a must visit one if you are in Ranchi. The premises is quite dirty. The authority should take some steps to clean it up. Also, these popular places should have proper toilet. Any of the toilet doesn't have water supply. But, the restaurants are awesome specially dal, rice, chicken etc. Overall experience is good.

Its a beautiful place. Very good to hangout with friends and family. The villagers are friendly. There's a lot of options for food, like local ones and maggie. The entry is free, however, there is parking charges. However, there is not even a single dustbin in the place. Because of this, all plastic goes into the water stream. It says plastic free zone, but it is full of plastic. Govt intervention might be helpful for the development of the spot.

Ranchi is surrounded by few falls, Jonha falls is prominent one and is ~40km from Ranchi. Best time to go when it has rained for 2-3 days, so you can enjoy the views. Beware of 300+ steps which you will take to go down to falls, climbing back can be brutal though. Per person charge is 10/- followed by parking charges. Area is well equipped with several gazebo, snack shops, rest rooms, and hotels where you can prebook your meal, which can be served on your return. ** Don’t try to get inside the water as the gaps between rocks can be very deep & dangerous.

Stunning waterfall near Ranchi, however one has to climb down almost 500+ steps to experience the beauty of the waterfalls. Senior citizens may find it difficult to climb down the steps. Jharkhand Tourism should think of some solution so that senior citizens can also enjoy the beauty of the Jonha Falls and are not deprived of the same.

👍👍 This is one of the most beautiful hidden gems of Ranchi, located in the middle of Nature. It is around 20km far from Ranchi city. It is a must visit kinda location.
