I feel like this gym doesn't care about the well-being of their members at all. Not only is there no ventilation in this gym but the aricon hasn't worked for months, maybe even years.. It's always over crowded in there and 3 little fans here and there is not enough to stop someone from fainting of heat exhaustion.. It really isn't a pleasant experience..

Air conditioner doesn't work. It's hot, stuffy and just sick in there. Doesn't matter how many times u complain, zero assistance. They don't need the steam room, the workout floor is a steam room. Planet venus its so hot.

I went in on 19 May to sign up with my Vitality but I keep getting debited the full gym fee from 26 May.I will never recommend anyone to Planet Fitness. Regret leaving Virgin who I was with for 4 years! Update. Took 3 months to resolve. Let's talk about the gym, no aircons (+2years) so very unhygienic and hot. The worse part is the ladies gym, it's just a store room for old broken equipment. PF really need to give attention to so many things. No staff on the floor to assist. Disappointed all round.

Aircon doesn't work. It feels like you're in a sauna. Water tastes terrible. You need to take your own water with to the gym. Half the machines don't work and takes months to get fixed. Also closes pretty early on weekends

Your customer service is terrible. Your machines have been broken for months & nothing is being done. The aircons aren't working in this heat! Ridiculous! For what we pay for membership, this is theft. Off to Virgin Active 💃💃💃 So tired of excuses.

I have been a member for 18 Months and will not be letting it roll over for another, the LAST 12 month at the gym I have Complained about all the broken equipment and they take ages to fix. The MOST important is the AIRCON - Hasnt been working for 12 month - the Manager Storm has an excuse that their was a fire in the aircon room and they have the wrong new equipment. The Gym is hot and it is guaranteed that there is a health risk due to the high temp and uncleanliness in the ladies bathroom.

Very bad conditions to gym in. No aircon in this gym they have a total of 4 fans in the WHOLE gym. Swimming pool heating doesn't work either so you pay for a pool and aircon that doesn't work. Treadmills take minimum 2 months to get fixed it seems.

Where has business ethics gone to with Planet Fitness Club First we were told the cut in operating hours were due to curfew times.... which since they have been reviewed this club is stuck with its old times ...no meeting the members half way or even to Just communicate to members as to why they are not reviewing training hours ...I presume its coz they have no logical reason anymore and all is to their benefit Now that curfew has been lifted ..... n still ....I wonder ... Is this what I signed for and seriously do new members joining now know of such and many more....

Overall an okay gym, but the aircon almost never works and it makes the gym unbearably hot - I've cancelled my membership as a result. I've experienced fairly regular equipment issues as well, particularly with cardio equipment. Management are unresponsive.

This gym has taken a steady dive in quality and facilities over the past years. The air-quality, ventilation and cleanliness is atrocious. Breeding ground of opportunistic infections. The aircon doesn't work. Members I know have been contracting upper respiratory infections from training in this place because there isn't adequate ventilation: one is consumed by a moist cloud of other people's sweat and saliva droplets, which management spray over everyone with 3-4 floor fans. There are no sanitizers, not even adequate paper towels. Cancel if you care about your and your loved one's respiratory health.

Very nice -state of the art, with "plenty" to chose, and allso place for more improvement.... Lock up for availability personal thinks, swimming pool (cold.....) for activity for prepare for the "climate change".... 😜

I joined this gym a year ago and I have never been so relieved to cancel my membership a year later! The basic facilities of a gym you expect are extremely lacking here. Firstly, the hours of the gym supposedly changed for Curfew and then never changed back. The aircon in the place never works so it's extremely hot and stuffy, they seem to constantly have water problems and issues, the men's steam room was out of service for months and the staff would keep just saying it'll be fixed next week. To top it all off when I tried to use their complaints system that failed too!

Not too bad of a gym but it's honestly ridiculous that the air conditioning never works. Makes it extremely uncomfortable to train. This is a basic need in a gym and it cannot even be fulfilled by the 2nd biggest gym brand in the country. Absolutely pathetic

Alot of equipment, nice setup. Aircon has not worked in years,certain days no water, some days drinking water is very warm, if the aircon and water issue were resolved, then it would be an overall decent gym.

I have been going to this branch for over two years. I can honestly say I have never been impressed. The equipment is sub par or broken. Amenities such as fans and the aircon are broken and falling apart. The water stations have been broken for months. Valuable staff members leave because of poor management. I wish I could leave but this is the only gym in my area.

One of the worst companies to work for in South Africa. They treat their staff as if we're still in the apartheid era. Don't care of employees' physical or mental well-being. Line & senior management is purely white & 1 junior manager is straight forward disregarded & disrespected by his non black subordinates. Line management is aware of this but turn a blind eye. Staff turnover is high as Planet Fitness abuse their staff by forcing them working 10-12 hours 6/7 days a week without additional compensation. I can't believe this company is getting away with so many unlawful treatment towards their staff

Great sized gym, has a pool, steam room and lots of equipment however there are a lot of equipment that is broken with no intention of fixing it, the bathrooms are always smelly and not cleaned regularly. There isn’t air conditioning working in the gym. The showers are not cleaned often and smells.

I am new member to Planet Fitness and this club in particular. The gym itself is great to workout in, gym equipment in order and in new condition, sanitizers everywhere and protocols in place to feel Covid safe. The airconditioning however has not worked properly since joining a fews ago. Initially when I asked a week ago they were in the process of fixing it and now when I asked about it late last week , the feedback is “the air conditioning is now working but due to the open plan layout of the gym and that it’s much busier you won’t be able to feel it or feel it that much” I have never heard such rubbish in my life. I have been to many other larger gyms during peak times and the air conditioning works as expected. And guess what, I’m paying to use a gym where I expect the facilities to work, especially the air conditioning, so that I am not focusing on staying conscious during my workout but I’m actually able to get a decent workout in. If you guys don’t sort out the issue soon and stop bsing your members, I’m going to have to cancel my contract. Not a threat but it’s ridiculous for me to pay quite a hefty fee and have to deal with substandard facilities.

Service from planet fitness has been an absolute joke. They did not inform me about the annual renewal fee and i had to pay a double charge. I wanted to report this but apparently the person who signed me up doesnt work there so nothing can be done. Absolutely disgusted by the service The gym is even worse then i expected. It is always full and you never get to work out as you please due to the amount of people and lack of equipment. There is literally 3 benches and 2 squat racks in a so called huge commercial gym.

The standard of the gym has dropped. If an instructor cancels there is never a replacement, all you will hear from management is excuses. When there is loadshedding, there is never fan allocated for the group class especially a packed cardio class. I don't know why they do not allocate a fan in advance since we all know the loadshedding schedule. The printers don't work.

Unfortunately I cant train here anymore. I've tried. But with no air conditioning on its impossible, never mind it's a health issue. I think management should address this issue before someone has heat stroke or worse still...a heart attack.

The airconditioning is more out of order than it is actually working. The cleanliness of the machinery needs improvement since the cardio machines have sweat stains on them. Gym hours on a weekend is not flexible at all. The turnaround period to fix broken equipment is a few weeks - this need definite improvement especially when they only have one machine. Worst gym I have ever gone to.

It is small but has a lot of equipments and a heated pool. There's also a sauna and the have a generator for working out without interruptions during loadshedding. Best day to go when it is not packed, is Friday

Pool, airconditioning has not worked once since I joined planet fitness. Additionally the equipment is not maintained, the place needs a good manager.

This was one of the best gym's not so long ago and now its just another shake down place. Equipment - awesome, fairly modem can get better but overall does the job. Air Con - What Air Con thing hasn't been working since November 2021. Management - They dont know what they are doing or at least that is what I think. Myself and other member raised our concerns but its like speaking in the wind. I am so tempted to name and shame management. But I will leave it for now, really disappointed. As for the issues Covid added to this place. Sanitizer - If you are lucky to find a bottle well done. If you find a working bottle you are a master. Side note hopefully you find a bottle with actual sanitizer and not some washed version of sanitizer. Trading hours - We get that with curvy people had to get home and so on but now with curvy lifted PF still holds to the level 2 times and when asked about it no direct answers can be given.

I'm so glad I'm out of that place , it's certainly letting the Brand down big time , aside from aircons that never work the lack of discipline is truly appalling to say the least , just relocated to Johannesburg from Durban and i do miss the umhlanga branch dearly .

I had a pleasant experience when visiting the facility. It is easy to locate and access. It holds a uplifting vibe and the motivation to be active. It caters to many needs of training as well as childcare, beauty care and caters to help women feel safe or at ease with their women's only training area. I was really impressed with that. There is room for improvement and I believe that in due time there will be some renovations done. However the club is still elegant, innovative and simple yet efficient. Definitely a favorite of mine is the running track they have.

The gym is okay, equipment is fine, staff is super friendly. They have a serious ventilation issue though (aircon's are never working) I go in the mornings during peak and its never annoyingly full which is great. However I cannot for the life of me understand why their classes are so early (cycle), actually looking to move gyms because of this and also they have this instructor who does 90% of the cycle classes and honestly he is RUDE, Ive had two horrible encounters with him and I hate the fact that I he does most of classes. So it is a good but purely because of the cycle times (05:30) and the rude instructor who does 90% of the classes (Malcom) I will unfortunately be seeding my membership elsewhere

Would be nice if Planet Fitness replaced the stickers on the glass squash court 2. I'm sure it has been over 7 months. Yet our club fees continue, including a special levy (double premium) in December every year. "Court backs have vertical stripes to a height of 607mm for safety. The glass is treated to provide a "one way view" to reduce distractions for the players."

Signed up today. I am very happy. Maria was very responsive. She was friendly. Planet fitness is running some really great specials. They running a scratch and win competition where you get great prizes. My boy friend won no joining fess, I won the same but with a USB hamper as well. We got a R100 discount on our monthly fee so we happy. The gym closes at 10:30pm in the evening during the week. Friday at 9pm and 7pm on a Sunday. This makes training very convenient

It used to be THE best gym for me until last year jan. I understand it's covid now and that things have changed but their service has dropped drastically. Even b4 covid, the water was often cold to shower and the streching area is always dirty and dusty.It's only one cleaner (Millicent) who ACTUALLY gets inn there and makes sure it's clean and not so dusty... She's always quick to act whenever something happens when she's on duty. She's a very nice lady who i often see exercising as well after her shifts. She's really friendly and treats EVERYONE and i mean EVERYONE with respect. I hope her efforts are being recognized. The male floor helps men / maintainance guys are amazing. Always so kind and respectful of everybody. Their amazing!. Hope their efforts are recognized too. Steam rooms are often dirty with grime and only get cleaned when you complain. The other cleaners don't really care that much honestly. The service at reception sucks to say the least. It's only a few consultants who treat members alike. The rest (Megan and Amy ) have some racist tendencies to say the least. At first i thought it was just me but alot of coloured women and men have had unpleasant experiences with them too. Myb I'm wrong but they definitely treat people of their kind better than US. But yeah, planet fitness isn't the same anymore. Update. We finally have the first black manager 👏🏾... Don't think there's been a black manager since i joined the gym almost 5yrs ago. It's been a couple of months now since we've had him. Service is still the same. Air conditioner hasn't worked in MONTHS!. Tissues often run out. Basically, it hasn't gotten better since i posted this.

Good Gym has what you need friendly staff so far I'm enjoying myself. I have noticed that they are a little slow in fixing equipment that broke but I don't know the complexity of the repair so yeah take that with a grain of salt. Good place over all to work out.

Buyer beware! My 18 year old son wanted a short term contract from Planet Fitness Fourways (he is leaving Joburg for varsity next month). It was his first ever contract and I told him to be careful because my perception is that gyms are often crooks. He signed up and told me there was no problem as long as he gave 2 months notice. When he gave his 2 months notice in December he was told he had to pay a R700 early cancellation. I logged a complaint with the Planet Fitness head office - raising a concern about what I believe was serious misrepresentation from the sales person. More than a month later, apart from acknowledging the complaint, they have done absolutely nothing! Is this how they normally do business?

Great gym and Freindly staff

Very well kept, nice and clean. It does however get congested during peak hours so if you want to use all the different workout machines rather go off peak. There's a variety of classes for every kind of work, so whatever your body target area is, there's classes for that. Oh there's also a running trail indoors, perfect for those rainy days. Pool, sonar roon, tennis courts etc.

It is an awesome place with friendly staff. It is always clean and the equipment is well maintained. The gym goers are always kind and if you are struggling someone will come help you out. They offer classes and personal trainers as well. There is a weight and machine section, a cardio section, a running track and more This planet fitness is overall a really good vibe.

Natasha was a huge help getting our contracts started and helping us join. She really has made our gym experience positive.

Overall not bad, staff are friendly and willing to assist. Main gym no aircon - EVER! The ladies area is a great idea but that is where it ends! This area brings a lot of ill feelings. Not all of us want to be in the main gym. The equipment is outdated and half of it does not work. A stepping machine, not even the staff can work. Treadmills that may or may not work. Equipment that is useful if you are 6 feet and can push 120kgs. Come on guys ... do the complaints fall on deaf ears (Management). Are you telling me that women do not count? We pay the same but our health and fitness is not important? Are we going back to the 1960s? Very disappointed.

Great facilities and value for money 👌 best feature is the 200m running track within the gym.
