EDIT: Since originally posting my review, improvements have been made. Boards have been posted explaining the machine repair delay, asking staff and members to wear masks and the cleaning boards have also been used during cleaning cycles. Thank you for improving and showing commitment to gym members. Much appreciation! Original Review: Every time I come to this gym the machine is either frozen or not working. Overall the gym is clean and weights are available. Hazardous cable spanning the whole gym floor wide with no boards to indicate the possible fall. Staff and many people not wearing the required mask inside the gym. Only when entering the gym people are wearing afterwards no one has a mask on? Photo: Machine stuck on 5 after trying to adjust the setting for 10min. Slow and unresponsive user interface.

Gym doesn’t have a back up power system (or any system to run the lights at least), constant power outages (excludes just Eskom), the gym doesn’t communicate with clients when they don’t have power (no sms system/notification) and for those who like training in the early morning 05:30+ you end up just getting turned away by staff who can’t say anything constructive around preventative measures to be put in place. (This has been the case for 3 years)

Back at the gym for 8 months, so happy I picked this one, love the swimming pool, open and it breathes, equipment top notch. Take away or sit down meals....so healthy👌👌and the best is the staff at reception, friendly and helpful 🙌

Lovely Gym to attend, not very big in comparison to other gyms in the area, but definitely big enough to cater for the demand. Always clean, with enough Variety in exercise options.

Equipment never gets fixed. Cars are being stolen out the parking lot way too often and nothing gets done. Outdated equipment. Definitely the worst Virgin Active I’ve been to. The only good thing about this virgin active is the friendly staff.

Gym has no Generator or any backup to power lights. They also seem to close the gym completely if the loadshedding ends 2 hours before normal closing

Great Gym The only problem is people sitting at machines and then talking for 10 - 15 mins on their cell phones, its usually the same people every time. I think management should address this as they do in other clubs

This is the worst gym to come to, for my first time joining I had the worst experience from the time I signed up nothing was fully explained to me when signing up and random amounts kept on going off my account. I would highly recommend that you find a different gym because this gym is extremely useless and they have a useless team running it

Really really nice gym. The pool is the main attraction and they get it right. The paid lessons sometimes get in the way, but I suppose everyone needs a chance. Cleaning facilities are also good. Staff can be better though.

Honestly such a nice gym and good front desk staff but the place is spoiled by the personal trainers hogging all the space/machines as well as people use 3 machines at once.

VGA Honeydew is very nice, not that big as it looks though, it's just that it's wide & opened inside the changing rooms are wide enough, the v club is also wide. The parking is also huge. They have new machines as well 👌. The was some funny smell in the showers I think it was the drain, hope it will be sorted out. Other than that it was a good visit.

Nice gym facility all modern equipement. The gym can invest in backup power supply as loadshedding is here to stay. Frustrating to drive all the way there to with the gym out of power.

Nice comfortable sized gym that has a sauna, steambath and which allows one to train smartly. Even a special tap outside to wash one's bicycle and secure safe locked storage for bicycles.

My usual Virgin Active is Randburg ... this morning with loadshedding, I phoned around and Eagle Canyon's Virgin was on a different time slot. I walked in, swiped my card and the lady welcomed me by name. When I asked her if they have 'my' bike, she didn't know. Walked upstairs, didn't see anything and then .... 4 of the bikes (with backs and wide seats) were there!!!! I cycled for 30 minutes to get my heartrate up. The next 30 minutes I pumped my legs - managed the best distance ever! 16,33 km in 30 minutes!!! Overall the gym is light and airy. Will defo visit again.

All the employees are friendly, respectful and helpful. Their service is five star and their gym is very clean, big up to the cleaning staff

Useless staff they all get paid to do nothing. Quick to sign you up and when they take 4 times the amount of money they are supposed to they are always "offline" just like the rest of south africa. Do yourself a favor and rather join planet fitness or even the gym company.

Clean and has most everything you need. Equipment sometimes out of order but overall a very pleasant gym.

This is a nice gym, but the weight section is too small, and this section can get very busy at times. Virgin Active should think about upgrading this gym by getting more Dumbells and maybe adding 1 more Smith Machine.

Absolutely terrible service, I tried changing my personal details, I filled In a form nearly 4 weeks ago and a month has passed I have lost all progress due to not being able to sign in Because they have not changed my details. Called head office a few weeks ago and still nothing has changed. I phoned 4-6 times and Multiple email's and nothing but lazy incompetent staff However they are polite...but overall the gym is a mess and is overcrowded...

Nice, small gym (no heated kiddies pool). Nice that steam room is in ladies' bathrooms and not shared. Friendly staff

The Honeydew Virgin Active is fantastic. The gym is well maintained and the staff are fantastic very friendly and well trained professionals. I always enjoy my workouts here as well as the variety of group class avaliable such as the spinning classes or grid classes. However, the gym does get extremely full in the afternoons

Boxing takes over the whole gym with their uncalled for noise. Have asked them many times by numerous people to tone it down and ignored. Messes up training cant hear trainer.

On Saturday, 30 July, at 14:30, I arrived zat the Virgin Active Honeydew (Eagle Canyon) to find the front doors wide open. I then realised a string stench of ecoli bacteria (basically feaces) coming from inside the gym. I asked the front desk, gym members have been complaining, so they opened the front doors to try to vent the place. Ironically, for a place where people come to get healthy, end up being contaminated and leaving more sick than they arrived. This is unacceptable and should not have been allowed. The gym should have been closed to decontaminate the place. The managers found this acceptable and continued with business as usual. Unacceptable behaviour!!!

This is my second time doing the Punch class on Thursdays at 7:30 am with Striker the punch instructor. It's a great and seriously intense workout. Thank you Striker for the full body workout. Keep up the good work 👌🏿.

Not a big enough verity of weight lifting machines, seems mostly geared up to cardio. A few machines or out of order every week and unusable.

Lovely gym, spacious and clean, that being said I have been having issue with them moving my membership from a collection club to a membership with a spicific club, hoping to get that resolved soonest

Allot of faulty equipment I'm not impressed, gym manager does not seem to care much about getting this sorted. Wish I never upgraded from the Budget Virgin Red gym, it feels like I have downgraded.

PLEASE CLOSE THE KAUAI. The staff are useless. Cuppacino and Chai tea from a bag not machine, ladies can't work till system, bank machine does not work and no change when I paid cash. Waited 25m for 2 cups. Had to fill in form as complaint which never works anyway, and then threw cups in dustbin with contents still inside. Swimming coaches use two lanes and a class in the other. The only reason I go is to swim. Waited 20m for class to finish.

Love it. Weight section not big but other than that always happy to work out here

its not that big like virgin active broadacres but there is a personal trainer his name is kumbi really he knows his job very well and he is speciality is abs

Absolutely terrible service where they fail to communicate how their contracts work. Their sales ladies are very rude!! They started to raise their voices at me when they saw me getting agitated. I gave them no satisfaction and left the club. Screaming at guests is not a form of good service. I asked them to calm down so that we can sort out the problem, they did not honor my request to calm down and proceeded to make a scene in front of other club guest. This is not the type of service that should be displayed when customers pay the type of fees that we do. If we pay top dollar we expect top class! I had to phone head office to sort out my problem.

A great space to workout with modern and well maintained equipment. A large pool and weights section. A studio for pilates, zumba and kick fitness as well as a cycle lab. Clean changerooms with toilets and showers and lockers. Virgin Active is expensive, but has a lot to offer.

Nice Virgin Active. Some basic maintenace is needed, but doesn't take away from the experience.
