I’ve often commented that I want to turn my journal of my time at this place into a book because of how outrageous and terrifying my experience was. I was here for two months when I was 17. Every bad thing that can be said about a mental health facility can be said here. If you want to experience the closest thing to an insane asylum from the early 1900s try to get a spot at this place. I was strapped down constantly when I would show signs of distress which not only made things worse but gave me post traumatic stress and has hindered me in my attempt to receive mental health care since. The only “good” thing about this place was my therapist who genuinely had a heart of gold and noticed how corrupt this place was. I hope she has found a different place of work since I’ve left there as she was too good for that place.

I can see how this unit was actually designed to help people. Unfortunately, it is more like a jail than a hospital. The majority of staff members are actually wonderful.Ms Gwen, Coco, Ms Nancy, and nurses Carmen, Sylvia, and one other very kind nurse (who's name I can't recall)and Ms Lorraine, were just blessings to me. However, there are a few staff members, including the nurse prac. Sarah Marshall were complete nightmares. And you're at their mercy. The facility, if run the way designed? Might be a decent place to recover. However, as it stands, the facility itself, is grossly under maintained, the food is not enough to fill anyone up, and that's if you're able to get past the hair, eyelashes etc in your food. All meat is the same, such as burgers, meatloaf etc, all the same soy patties. So plan to stay hungry. Also, plan to have to deal with lockdowns due to a few bad apples behaving like the children they are. Constant fighting. Blatant disdain for patients from some of the staff. A doctor that only sees you on intake unless you're literally dying. Social worker who's never there and won't see you.

*THIS IS NOT MIKE RUSHING!* My name is Nia Huber, and I signed up for treatment over a month ago (July 18, 2016). I have been calling them every single day, and even have my family calling, to try to get into the drug rehab center. I'm literally begging to go to rehab, and they WILL NOT tell me anything! I also paid a $95 dollar fee to get into the place, and they're no help at all. I need treatment ASAP. I cant stop on my own, and these lazy, heartless people could care less! I'm hopeless. I wish i could get my money back from them. Who knows what will happen to me while I wait on them to get ready? I just want to get better. This hospital DOES NOT HELP PEOPLE IN NEED!

I have forgotten how long ago I worked at Ms. State Hospital. When I went to my first day with patients I was terrified. I made it thru the first week to the next all the time being very wary. The nursing supervisor worked on my bldg, she was very supportive, friendly, and we became best of friends. Occasionally I would be "pulled" to other bldgs, again that was frightening. Eventually I just learned the procedure and went on about my business. My bldg soon closed down and I got transferred to the women's alcohol and drug bldg. I quit a year or so after that.

I was hospitalized here for schizophrenia in 2017 for about a month. I was already stablized when I arrived at the facility, though, so I don't know about that part of it. The facility was great for the cost (which is nothing). The shower is hot and the food quite good. My only complaint is that I was severely undermedicated and suffered from hearing voices so loudly and brainracking that my speech stuttered and slurred. They wouldn't give me anything for it so I just suffered through it and left there half-brainwashed and outside of myself, but, I survived.

Abusive staff. Safety hazards are everywhere. Pests are prevalent. Food is disgusting and usually cold. When I was admitted in late 2017, nearly everything was in disrepair. Paint was peeling off of the walls. There were roaches everywhere.

I have been a visitor (patient) at this Fine Facility myself. And to me the staff, especially the nurses, they re the best. Staff there are all very kind and courteous but mainly they have the patience one can only dream of. Now the fellow patients, that another story. (Lol) But.......if any patient became agitated or aggressive towards some one, the nurses intervened immediately and calmly diffused the situation with no problems. Think its a great facility, (JUST MY OWN OPINION FROM MY OWN EXPERIENCES) KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK

This place is a NIGHTMARE (especially for someone like me in a wheelchair). Every day starts at 6am (med call), then waiting on breakfast you have a prayer class. After breakfast is DBT class. The rest of the day is music, coloring & outside time until lunch then arts & crafts again until dinner. Then it's bed time after 8pm med call. The food...what a joke...it's cold & the portions are for an 8 yr old not adults. It's glorified TV dinners. My daughter sent clothes (that i didn't get) & all my meds which they went through & took upon themselves to give me what they thought I needed not what my doctors say i need so I didn't get my heart, my cholesterol or my blood thinning meds.i have 7 blood clots in my lung. Plz find a different place for your loved one. This place has a 7 outta 10 relapse rate. I beg you to plz find a better place if you love your loved one.

What a horrible place! Queeta provokes clients unfortunately! Dr belaga is an arrogant prick. Breinna is a lazy 28 year old spoiled brat! My so called therapist gave hand outs for therapy. Thank god for Gwen! And kaitlyn!

Was there for 2 months. The staff were rude and dismissive. And even downright mean. The food was terrible and most of the time cold. A toilet was falling in, stopped up shower drains, and a tv with only 1 channel with no cable. There were no activities. Only word search puzzles. This place really needs to be shut down

I want to stay here for a month. How do I do that. I've got all kinds of insanity to discuss with experts. Yes sir.
