By far the best place I stayed in Ratnapura. A brand new facility with plenty of space. Very clean and inviting. Great location. 5 minutes to the center of the town, yet far enough from the hustle and bustle of the city. The hosts went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. I would recommend this place without any hesitation.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying 2 days at the Save Field Rest in Ratnapura. A "little gem" in a city that is still very "authentic". Nice big rooms. The owner as well as his family were all very helpful and trustworthy. There are not so many eateries in this town but despite the lack of resturante at Gem Field Rest we could have served an excellent Sri Lankan evening meal made in their private kitchen. Should you be interested in buying sapphire rubies or other stones, they can also help with this at very good prices. We were also recommended a driver of the hotel's owner and this was a very friendly and welcoming man who was sincerely interested in doing his job the best and cheapest possible. We highly recommend this place as well as the driver.

This place is simply amazing. It was definitely our most comfortable stay during the whole 3-weeks trip all around the country. Spacious rooms with great terraces, high quality furniture, huge bed, really good towels and shower, everything is just very well thought through. Our host Bhanu was very polite and welcoming, but by no means intrusive, it was pleasure to talk to him. He also speaks good English as he has studied in the USA. So, 5-star without doubt. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone!

This is an amazing place to experience Sri Lankan hospitality at its best. I loved the location of this place. Even though it is very close to the heart of the town, I felt removed from the hustle and bustle of city life and closer to nature and heritage. Bhanu(the owner) and his father are sooooo helpful and sweet! The the building is new and all the appliances are uptodate. They make you feel like home and I bet this is the best place you can stay! As a gem buyer the location of this place is wonderful for me because It's only 3 mins walk to the trading area. Absolutely Awesome Rest and a Hidden Gem!!! I and my wife, during our recent visit to Sri Lanka had rare opportunity of staying in this property. It was more than an Gem Field Rest; its Hidden Gems in a green garden with tree canopy. The owner is exceptionally friendly, accommodative and went much beyond to make our stay comfortable, enjoyable and fruitful. It's a brand new property conveniently located very near Gem City of Sri Lanka and halfway from the International airport to down south Sri Lanka. Also a day excursion to world popular Adam's peak and several other destinations. It was tucked in lush green mango, jackfruit and coconut trees and I had opportunity of viewing several rare birds within the large garden. The room was large, clean, well appointed and with large french style tall window that provide opportunity of viewing rare birds from the room itself. We spent a couple of relaxing nights at the Gem Field Rest, during our holidays in Ratnapura. This place offers good homemade food, tranquil atmosphere and great value for money we pay; not to mention the warm welcome and remarkable service of the staff. The newly built hotel is equipped with modern furniture and fittings. Spacy rooms were exceptionally clean. It offers a village like atmosphere though located within city limits. Convenient place to stay for gem buyers as it is within 5 mins from the city. We are already planning to come back here for our next holidays in Sri Lanka.

The Ratnapura gem market was hundred meters from the Hotel and "Bhanu" has a very sophisticated "Gem Buying Office " in the hotel premises where he organized genuine gem suppliers to come there and show the Gems to us. An excellent place to stay if in Ratnapura. Modern, clean and great rooms. Over 3 floors, there are only 2 rooms per floor, so each one has good balcony areas. Rooms are very large with plenty of windows and French doors out to balcony. Bedding, bed, towels, etc all of high quality. Durch die Auswahl und Vorbereitung der Besuche hatten wir auch ständig ein gutes Gefühl - was wir bei den ganzen Leuten, die in der Innenstadt auch Minenbesucher auf der Straße angeboten haben, wohl nicht gehabt hätten. Fazit: mit Bhanu als Gastgeber lohnt sich der Besuch in Ratnapura auf jeden Fall und ist dadurch unglaublich interessant, dass man einen Blick hinter die Kulissen der Edelsteine werfen kann.
