Melaka
Trip
Part
VIII
We
already
had
Peranakan
food
for
dinner
the
day
before
and
we
didn't
feel
like
having
seafood
or
western
food
on
our
second
day.
I
recalled
someone
told
me
to
try
this
particular
porridge
restaurant
located
in
older
part
of
Melaka
Raya.
Business
was
good
as
I
reached
the
restaurant
but
luckily
we
managed
to
get
a
table
as
it
was
still
relatively
early
-
one
of
the
perk
of
having
early
dinner
instead
of
going
at
peak
hours.
All
the
items
in
the
menu
were
printed
on
a
piece
of
laminated
paper.
We
quickly
pointed
this,
that,
this
and
that.
◾Special
Seafood
Porridge
-
porridge
is
my
comfort
food
and
especially
endearing
when
I
was
sick.
Love
the
texture
of
the
porridge
filled
with
various
seafoods
such
as
fish,
squid,
etc.
◾Beef
porridge
was
the
choice
of
the
young
boy
in
the
family
as
he
didn't
like
seafood.
He
said
that
the
beef
slices
were
tender
and
nice,
and
his
sentiment
was
echoed
by
his
grandfather
who
was
a
beefeater
as
well..
◾Steamed
Asam
Tilapia
-
love
the
tangy
and
sour
gravy.
◾Steamed
herbal
chicken
-
option
for
the
other
kids
who
didn't
want
porridge,
but
to
go
with
rice.
◾Braised
pork
trotter
was
lovely
with
soft
&
tender
meat,
plus
that
sauce
that
went
well
with
rice.
◾Beancurd
with
minced
meat
◾Stir
fried
sweet
potato
leaves
Something
different
to
eat
in
Melaka
for
a
change.
Those
who
came
late
had
to
either
be
seated
outside
alfresco
style
or
wait
for
their
turn.
