Location: Malaysia, Sekinchan Cost: $$ Wait time: 30 mins Type: Coffeeshop / Sheltered open space dining This restaurant is popular and well-known for its Shark Porridge. If you are in the vicinity and have the time, don’t hesitate to pop by and give it a try. Please do note however due to the popularity and crowd at the restaurant, do expect to wait a period of time for your food. The food was delicious and lived up to its popularity. The shark porridge was delicious and the fish tasted fresh. The fried fish and fried sotong was crispy and hot. The cabbage was tasty and not overly salty. Overall the food was reasonably priced, and the food was good. If you don’t mind waiting for good food, do come and give it a try.

We visited on Sunday 12pm, just right before the crowd coming. Order is fast, serving is fast too. Their Shark soup is special, price is reasonable too. Just located at the entrance of Sekinchan, easy to find the location and plenty of parking. Recommended.

Have tried a few seafood restaurants in Sekinchan and this has to be my favourite. The food is clean tasting which allows the freshness of the seafood to take the limelight. The stir fried potato leaves were tender and had wok Hei. The sambal prawns were so good that we ordered two plates. The fried fish was fluffy and lightly seasoned. The fishball soup was delicious, as was the homemade fishballs.

Very tasty dishes at reasonable prices. We ordered: Chilli prawns - the best we have had out of a few places in Sekinchan Hot & sour shark soup - very flavourful but 1 piece of the shark did have slightly off taste Deep fried squid - fresh and just the right amount of batter Lala - very fresh and very tasty. Probably the best we have had Vege 5 dishes cost RM130 for 6 persons. Drinks and rice in addition. We ordered the sour plum umbra (kedondong) - homemade and thick, very nice. Parking available across the road. We arrived before noon on a Sunday, not crowded then but it got filled up very quickly by noon. Unfortunately, it is cash basis only. Not even e wallets accepted

Porridge from shark meat, just nice for brunch on a rainy day. The taste has slight sour taste from the pickle vege and also ginger slice giving a nice aroma. Seconds dish order is mince prawn with chili. Good appetiser to start the meal today. Lastly got some green vege to go with the meal. Totally tender veg, cooked with some dry shrimp, absolutely home cooked taste, like it. Overall a hearty brunch.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Restoran Jiann Chyi in Sekinchan, and I must say, it was an unforgettable culinary experience. The star of the show for me was their shark porridge and fried shark meat – truly exotic and simply awesome. The shark porridge was a revelation. It had a rich and flavorful broth that was both comforting and tantalizing to the taste buds. The tender pieces of shark meat in the porridge were cooked to perfection, maintaining a delicate texture that was a delight to savor. The blend of spices and herbs used in this dish created a harmonious symphony of flavors that left me craving for more. Now, let's talk about the fried shark meat. It was nothing short of spectacular. The crispy outer coating gave way to succulent and juicy shark meat on the inside. The seasoning was impeccable, striking a perfect balance between savory and slightly spicy. Each bite was a burst of flavor, and I couldn't get enough of it. The ambiance at Restoran Jiann Chyi was welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive dining experience. If you're looking for a unique and delicious culinary adventure in Sekinchan, Restoran Jiann Chyi is a must-visit. Their shark porridge and fried shark meat are culinary gems that deserve all the praise they receive. I can't wait to return for another delightful meal at this establishment.

We ordered 4 dishes, stir fried sweet potato leaves (RM15), black sauce shark fish (RM30), fried squid (RM30) and chilli prawn(RM30) which is not in the picture. The vegetables was nicely cooked, soft and flavourful. The shark fish was slightly salty but pair well with rice. The fried squid was fresh but overcooked a little bit which makes it rubbery. The chilli prawn was quite disappointing when it was served as the taste was quite bland, the prawn size was like the dried shrimp and the portion was small. The bill comes up to RM127 inclusive of the 4 dishes, 4 white rices (RM1.50 each) and 4 ambula juices(沙梨汁), RM4 each. All the dishes ordered were for 3 paxes although there are 4 of us. The environment was ok, clean and has good air ventilation. Most probably wouldn’t be coming back again as overally the food was just ok.

Resident dish is shark porridge with generous slices of shark 🦈 meat, fishballs and rice, doused with sweet steaming hot soup cooked with chye por (preserved raddish).
